* ''VisualNovel/PhoenixWrightAceAttorney'':
** There isn't a lot of bashing, but the majority of what there is is thrown against Iris, for ''daring'' to be [[spoiler: the twin sister of the CuteAndPsycho Dahlia Hawthorne ''and'' Phoenix's ex-girlfriend who dated him to save him from her evil sister]]. To some extreme Phoenix/Edgeworth shippers, this means Iris is "an evil, hypocritical, stupid whore who keeps Phoenix and Miles away from each other." To make things worse, the case that introduced Iris also gave fuel for both Phoenix/Maya and Phoenix/Edgeworth shippers, making her something of a ThirdOptionLoveInterest. Fortunately, the series never resolves potential romances between the main characters, which keeps bashing to a minimum.
** Leona Clyde from the Takarazuka musical gets a ''lot'' of hate for taking the place of several canon characters in Phoenix's life and being his love interest to boot. Of course, much of the shipper hate is mitigated by the wonderful HoYay number with Phoenix dancing with/being assaulted by Edgeworth's backup dancer clones.
** In-universe example: Pearl Fey. Having seen many members of her family (including her mother) deal with broken marriages due to the matriarchal nature of Kurain, she's desperate for her beloved cousin "Mystic Maya" to have a happy and secure marriage with Phoenix Wright. This leads to her flipping out and slapping Nick on occasion if he so much as stands next to other women (including Iris, Pearl's own sister), despite the pair's constant recital of SheIsNotMyGirlfriend.

** The ''VideoGame/SonicBoom'' iteration of Amy has her Sonic {{stalker|WithACrush}} tendencies strongly dialed down. Of course, this doesn't stop her from spending a stage with Sonic (and another with Tails and a third with Knuckles), nor does it stop her from befriending [[WildChild Sticks]]. We could be dealing with a new cold war, folks.

*** Riku himself has been receiving hate from Sora/Kairi shippers in the buildup to Kingdom Hearts III's release, but it increased significantly after Re:Mind and Melody of Memory, with multiple Sora/Kairi shippers insisting that Riku should be KilledOffForReal so that his journey to [[spoiler: find Sora in Quadratum]] can be given to Kairi instead.

** The members of Organization XIII (or the "ORGY-nization" if you see all the pairings) are all either hated or loved for various reasons in terms of fandom, but Larxene is often depicted as more of an evil, violent, and sadistic bitch than necessary or just forgotten altogether in order to advance any of the [[HoYay yaoi pairings]]. Note that the ''[[VideoGame/KingdomHeartsChainOfMemories Chain of Memories]]'' half of the Organization hasn't even really canonically interacted with the ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsII'' half on screen. This only ''encourages'' it by leading to [[ShipsThatPassInTheNight shipping at near-random]] and therefore, bashing of [[ShipToShipCombat rival ships]]. When you have people loathing Zexion for getting in the way of Xigbar/Demyx, who doesn't even appear in the same game as either of them, you know something is seriously wrong...

** Despite the game itself going out of its way to show Warren as well-meaning and a supportive friend of Max, the Chloe fandom goes out of their way to ''[[RonTheDeathEater villainize him]]''. They make him out to be a stalker who's only ''pretending'' to be Max's friend in order to get into her panties. So in the final episode, they literally sacrifice him, along with the rest of Arcadia Bay, for the sole purpose of their girl-girl ship.

** Despite there being no overt references or hints of romance between Kal'Reegar and Tali ([[ShippingGoggles not that it's ever stopped anyone]]) in game, Kal'Reegar fares no better with the hardcore Tali/Male Shepard fans. While [[spoiler:he can die in-game, most just kill him off on Haestrom anyways]], this doesn't mean this trope plus RonTheDeathEater doesn't seep in from time to time, too. The hate has gone down somewhat, seeing as how [[spoiler:the poor guy gets [[DroppedABridgeOnHim killed off-screen]] if he ''did'' survive the second game]]. Somewhat.

* In ''VideoGame/GanbareGoemon'' fandom, Omitsu is the favored punching bag for bitter shippers, as she is the sole love interest of the main series - a matter exacerbated by her lack of screen time outside of [[DistressedDamsel kidnapping plots]], leading her to be denounced as a useless cuckoldress or simply ignored as a result. To rub more salt into the wound, Konami has been making Goemon and Omitsu's romance more overt in recent times, and even threw in a couple of moments to [[ShipSinking sink]] the more popular [=GoeYae=] couple. (The fans of the aforementioned couple have the manga and ''Bouken Jidai Katsugeki'' to go on, but they're AlternateContinuity, so they "don't count.")

** Then there's the, thankfully very small, minority of Val/Fuka shippers who hate both of the other ships. This is in spite of the fact that FUKA ships both of them herself and even chooses to ''[[ShipSinking sink her own ship]]'' in her epilogue because she doesn't want to get in the way of Artina and Fenrich!

** Noel Vermillion is quite hated, especially amongst [[HoYay Ragna/Jin]] shippers. There are also those who wishes Noel would fulfill her destiny of being killed to save the world, just so she doesn't get in the way of [[OfficialCouple Jin/Tsubaki]]. [[spoiler:Which is canonically Tsubaki's big problem, after Hazama [[MindRape takes a hold of her]]... and yet she ''still'' cannot bing herself to MurderTheHypotenuse ''when she has Noel at her complete mercy''.]] Of course, many of the rabid Jin x Tsubaki fans fail to realize that ''Noel herself'' is a ShipperOnDeck in favor of those two, that [[spoiler:Noel's feelings for ''Ragna'' may be stronger than anything she'd feel for Jin (on account of being [[CloningBlues a clone]] of their little sister Saya, who harbors some pretty strong feelings for Ragna herself if the words and behavior of ''the goddess of death'' her body is being used as a vessel for are any indication)]], and took her job under Jin solely to aid her ailing family [[spoiler:courtesy of Hazama's machinations]]. If it weren't for that, she'd have held out for Tsubaki to have that role.

*** Poor, poor Ilia absolutely gets the worst of it though. Since she's the game's main ImpliedLoveInterest, she gets bashed to hell and back by ''both'' Zelda/Link and Midna/Link shippers, [[NeverLiveItDown usually focusing on her]] scolding Link for accidentally hurting Epona's leg (even though she apologizes later and Link had clearly shrugged the moment off anyway).

* [[EldritchAbomination Arakune]] from ''Franchise/BlazBlue''; it's not easy to find a [[RatedMForManly Bang Shishigami]] fan who doesn't want the critter dead for good. Bang's [[MisaimedFandom fandom]] logic for this is quite simple: the manliest man has to hook up with the woman he has his eyes set on, and it doesn't matter if she likes him or not at first; for them, Bang's passion '''will''' be corresponded no matter what. One can understand wanting Litchi to stop going through BreakTheCutie deals for Arakune's sake, but these fans often act as if [[EntitledToHaveYou Bang had ownership and right to Litchi's whole persona]] because of his badassery, [[UnfortunateImplications which reflects a pretty... selfish and entitled view of romance as a whole.]] (And considering that Bang is a ChivalrousPervert, a [[GentleGiant rather decent guy]] and comes to ''actually care'' for Litchi's safety and well-being aside of liking her giant chest, if he "knew" about such stuff, he would most likely be ''mortified''. See his reaction to [[ThinksLikeARomanceNovel Tsubaki]] trying to stage a ShotgunWedding for his sake in one of his joke endings!)

* [[EldritchAbomination Arakune]] from ''Franchise/BlazBlue''; it's not easy to find a [[RatedMForManly Bang Shishigami]] fan who doesn't want the critter dead for good. See his reaction to [[ThinksLikeARomanceNovel Tsubaki]] trying to stage a ShotgunWedding for his sake in one of his joke endings!)

* ''VideoGame/LifeIsStrange'': Warren Graham and Rachel Amber are both frequent targets of the nigh militant [[FanPreferredPairing PriceField fandom.]]

But the latter aspect of Rachel's character gets disregarded altogether by [=PriceField=] shippers, who mis-characterize Rachel solely as a manipulative bitch for daring to be [[spoiler: Chloe's girlfriend]] during ''Before the Storm''. But they can't kill her off since she's [[DeadAllAlong already dead]] by the time of the original game, so they bash and hate on her instead

*** Poor, poor Ilia absolutely gets the worst of this though. Since she's the game's main ImpliedLoveInterest, she gets bashed to hell and back by ''both'' Zelda/Link and Midna/Link shippers, [[NeverLiveItDown usually focusing on her]] scolding Link for accidentally hurting Epona's leg (even though she apologizes later and Link had clearly shrugged the moment off anyway).

* Even ''VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork'' suffers from this. [[TheChick Mayl]], in particular, gets all the hatred of the yaoi fans (not to mention a humiliating FanNickname) for daring to stand in the way of Lan/Chaud... never mind that [[spoiler:Lan/Mayl is the OfficialCouple, as the sixth game shows in the ending]]. And the ever-shrinking Lan/Mayl fandom tends to demean Dex, who has a huge crush on the pink-haired girl... Then there's the feud between Chaud/Yai and Chaud/Anetta fans.

** Then there's Kaidan who gets blasted by Fem!Shep/Garrus (or Shakarian) shippers for either being an abusive asshole who emotionally manipulates Shepard into staying with him (and he does try when he punishes her for rejecting him) and very viciously blasts Garrus for siding with Cerberus alongside Shepard or the complete reverse, being generally just a bland and boring guy. Some shippers have even gone so far as to write fanfiction wherein the entire Normandy crew emotionally or physically abuse Kaidan simply for being there and daring to show interest in Fem!Shep.
** Rabid Fem!Shep/Kaidan (or Shenko) shippers particularly take delight in killing off Garrus as retaliation against Garrus fans, citing it as fitting punishment for abandoning Kaidan on Virmire. Nevermind that those are separate canons.

* Poor Bastila in ''VideoGame/KnightsOfTheOldRepublic'' gets a lot of undeserved hate from the Carth/FemRevan shippers.

** ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker Wind Waker]]'' had only three significant female characters: Tetra/[[ReallyRoyaltyReveal Princess Zelda]], Medli ([[ImpliedLoveInterest who Prince Komali appears to have a crush on]]), and Link's younger sister Aryll. (There's also a fairy queen who has a crush on Link, but hardly anyone ever remembers her.) As such, it only really came down to Tetra and Medli, and the number of fanfictions involving Link escaping Tetra's fan-overblown controlling bitch personality and heading off to be with Medli are astronomical. (They, however, almost never kill off Komali. They rather either pretend that he [[FanonDiscontinuity never existed]] or have him just be fine with it.) Also, the only ones the {{Yaoi Fangirl}}s pair Toon Link up with are... [[ScrewYourself pretty much all of the other Links]].

** With ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword Skyward Sword]]'', you now have three pairings that involve having to get rid of Zelda: the Item Check Girl, Peatrice (with whom you can actually end up dating at the end of your sidequest, to which Fi suggests to ''never'' tell Zelda); your new companion, Fi (i.e., the spirit of the Master Sword), who canonically does became emotionally attached to Link; and, of course, [[FoeYayShipping Ghirahim]], whose lines in the game practically ooze with desire on what he [[SexIsViolence wants to do to Link]].

* In the ''VisualNovel/TokimekiMemorial'' Japanese fandom, there was back in the time of the Classic Kirameki Saga's boom in 1996 quite a backlash concerning [[BromanticFoil Yoshio Saotome]]'s pairing in the wake of the ''Motto! Tokimeki Memorial'' Radio Drama series, which is one of the pillars of the Classic Kirameki Saga's mythos: near the end of this Radio Drama series, a whole chapter (Chapter 9) was dedicated on how Yoshio and [[spoiler: [[{{Meganekko}} Mio]] [[IllGirl Kisaragi]]]] hook up. Since in the original game, aside from his best friend of a main protagonist [[CanonName Naoto]], and his little sister [[{{Kawaiiko}} Yumi]], the person Yoshio had the most interaction with was his friend [[spoiler: since Junior High [[GenkiGirl Yuko Asahina]]]], a good number of people took that pairing as granted ([[spoiler: despite the fact Yuko considers Yoshio as a ''kusare-sen'' friend, aka a person she doesn't really want to have as a friend but is inevitably a friend anyways]]) and were ''not amused'' at this shipping course change. The whole thing, of course, evolved as well into ShipToShipCombat with those who liked the new course. The mess has fortunately died down nowadays.

** Shizune Hakamichi seems to have suffered the misfortune of being practically set up to get this. First, her route is very much an acquired taste, relying more on intellectual nuance, {{Foreshadowing}} and subtext than the "[[CatharsisFactor feels]]" that are common in other routes. Meaning that [[RewatchBonus you need to play it a few times in order to truly get it]]. (The fact that it is the most linear route, [[spoiler:with only one choice]], as well as a SliceOfLife narrative structure that not everyone appreciates, doesn't help matters.) Second, she is a SpiritedCompetitor to a degree that one either finds charming and endearing or obnoxious and annoying; she can also can be rather blunt (justified in part because she is deaf-mute). Thirdly she is TheRival to Lilly who is by far one of the most adored characters in the game and whose route is seen as much smoother and sweeter [[spoiler: except for the end, but that one also ends up well]]. Lastly, her best friend Misha is an EnsembleDarkHorse who doesn't have a route of her own [[spoiler:and is, in fact, in unrequited love with Shizune herself -- which is what triggers THE single choice in the Shizune route]]. You'd think people would not be able to pour so much hate at an eighteen year old deaf girl.
** Interestingly enough, in Lilly's route, Shizune [[spoiler:reconciles with Lilly, and initiates the process]]. And instead of competing with the other girls over Hisao, Shizune, along with Misha, is a ShipperOnDeck.
** Lilly herself gets some of this trope from fans of the other route, who resent her for being the most popular girl. She becomes a ParodySue when Hisao finds himself relying on her too much, doesn't challenge her decision to go to Scotland until almost literally the last second, and realizes that she has flaws of her own, such as hiding her emotions]].

** The degree of negative treatment Rothion gets is just ridiculous. In one fiction, he was killed, sent to [[FireAndBrimstoneHell Hades]], locked up in a bone cage, [[FateWorseThanDeath tortured for eternity]], and given regular, vicious {{Hannibal Lecture}}s by the gods. Why? [[LogicBomb Because he helped the injured Sophitia when Taki brought her home]], thus seducing her into marrying him and disrupting what was apparently THE GODS' OneTruePairing. Sophitia then admitted [[WhatTheHellHero she never truly loved him anyways]] and goes off to have a three-way with Taki and [[IncestIsRelative Cassandra]]. That isn't even the WORST of the fic... This encompasses ALL aspects of fic-hood, from Western written ones to Eastern {{doujinshi}}. Why is this? Well, the answer's quite simple: Sophitia is widely considered one of the most attractive women in a series full of attractive women, and her husband's some guy you don't see much, and who, therefore, [[http://www.cracked.com/article_14990_what-monkeysphere.html according to the worst parts of human nature,]] is less of a person. ShowDontTell may be in effect.

* The ''VideoGame/{{Overwatch}}'' fandom has entered this trope when it was revealed that not only is Tracer a lesbian, but she has a canonical girlfriend named Emily. The fans who [[FoeYay ship Tracer with Widowmaker]] have easily taken the initiative with this trope, depicting her as a selfish bitch who only likes Tracer because she's a member of Overwatch and feels [[EntitledToHaveYou entitled to her,]] culminating in treating Widowmaker like crap [[ContrivedCoincidence conveniently where Tracer can see]] the ''real'' her.

** ''Star Fox'', with its predominantly male cast, naturally gets this, especially in the form of [[MsFanservice Krystal]] the blue vixen, who is both Fox's [[SatelliteLoveInterest love interest]] and the BaseBreakingCharacter of the series as a whole. A portion of fans shunt her aside in favor of [[HoYay Fox/Falco]] and [[FoeYay Fox/Wolf]]; there's also [[FauxActionGirl Fara Phoenix]] from the 1993 Nintendo Power comics based off of the SNES game as a replacement, even though she and Fox have little chemistry between them. [[{{Irony}} More precisely: As much as Fox and Krystal do.]]

* Lili from ''VideoGame/{{Tekken}}'' is often portrayed as a full-blown RichBitch or AlphaBitch, in order to accommodate relationships with people ''she's not even closely related with'' (e.g: Steve and Christie). And here, she's just being a normal {{Ojou}} who happens to like fighting... However, the idea of Lili/Asuka seems to be almost universally unopposed, if only because [[FoeYay the]] [[HoYay hints]] are laid on so thick by canon (especially from [[AmbiguouslyBi Lili's]] side) it's rather hard to go against it.
** Xiaoyu, [[DoggedNiceGuy Dogged Nice Girl]] to Jin and one of his only friends from his otherwise pitiable life, hasn't been unfortunate enough to actually be killed off in fandom works, but she does tend to be {{derail|ingLoveInterests}}ed from "supportive, [[TheDitz ditzy]], {{genki|Girl}} gal pal of Jin who wants to save his soul from evil" to something worse to make way for [[FoeYay his rival Hwoarang]], [[KissingCousins his cousin Asuka]], his [[TheDragon Dragon]] Nina, or even [[ShipsThatPassInTheNight characters with no ties to Jin in-canon]] such as Julia. This is in spite of [[WordOfGod Harada]] stating that Jin is [[CelibateHero as celibate as they come]] [[CantHaveSexEver since he has cursed blood]] and doesn't want ''anyone'' else (Xiao included) to suffer what he's had to live through.
