If I am to die here, than I salute you and my people - Ephasias

Western Saga is a video game made with RPG Maker VX Ace by Jade Asturias. It serves as a prequel to the video game I Want To Be Your Moon, created by Dinru Farore and later by Jade herself. The story takes place on a small island off the coast of mainland in Latria about 500 years before the events of it's successor, with the protagonist Fushelme being dragged off by her father to go on the traditional 15th birthday raid or the first raid to ease her into the life of a Dane. However, everything goes wrong, and Fushelme is unwillingly cast into a role of hero upon a fateful meeting.

This unfinished and unpublished work contains examples of:

  • All in a Row: There are only 4 party members, the maximum that are allowed in RPG Maker.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: The Eirnneans who live to the north of Ingheim. They have Blue Skin, Green Hair, and Red Eyes.
  • Badass Preacher: Eohric prefers peaceful methods, but is more than capable of killing when he must.
  • Crisis of Faith: Eohric upon learning that his religion, of which he was a long dedicated priest, is actually the worship of the Big Bad himself.
  • Eldritch Abomination: The Kobold species, once revered as gods, they now are largely the stuff of nightmares and legends for the people of Latria. They have no physical form, are made of pure magic, and must possess bodies, which are likely to be mutated beyond use, for survival in any universe less magical than their own, and have free access to many universes.
    • Big Bad: The master of all Kobolds, Wisefather, who started the journey when he attempted to possess Fushelme at the start of the game.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble:
    • Sanguine: Fushelme
    • Choleric: Hilda
    • Melanchoic: Ephasias
    • Plegmatic: Eohric
  • Half-Human Hybrid: The Eirnneans to the north of Ingheim are the descendants of mixed children between Elbites who moved to the north, and the ancient population of Mermaids who once lived off the coast.
  • Maid and Maiden: Hilda and Fushelme
  • The Laws of Magic: Magic is nigh unfathomable for the people of the ancient Anglish Isles, so The Law of Association is used in the form of Runes, which are the only way any one can channel magic into a usable form at this time.
  • Other Worldly And Sexually Ambiguous: Kobolds do not appear to have a concept of Gender or Sex like the other species that inhabit Latria do. They appear to be confused by the whole concept of either.
  • Religion of Evil: The Worship of Kobolds.
  • Spin-Offspring: Fushelme is the founding ancestor of the family of the next game's protagonist, Tara. Ephasias and Eohric are the great great grandparents of Lulu as well
  • Technicolor Eyes: Eirnneans have bright red eyes, as do all who have decent from them.
    • The Kervaker people also possess red eyes, though they appear to be less frequent.

Characters

Fushelme Vestvikar

I guess the only thing I can do is try and set things right. I just hope it works.

Born in the small fishing settlement of Vestvik, Fushelme starts off the game as a regular kid, enjoying her life and pestering her merchant friend, the mysterious elf Hilda. It is only on her 15th birthday that she is rounded up by her father to get her first taste of actual life in the Anglish Isles. Unfortunatly, she is swept up in the ensuing destruction of her target. Only after being saved by her longtime friend Hilda, she comes to realize the severity of her situation.

  • Child by Rape: While Fushelme doesn't even know this, it is the reason why she lacks a mother in her story. Her mother lost her mind after be left with an unwanted child and the stress it brought her. She tried but couldn't raise the child, hence her husband raised Fushelme as his daughter.
  • The Chosen Zero: No one takes her seriously, She's a 15 year old girl who has never been on a true raid in her life.
  • Kid Hero: Starts the Journey at 15, ends it at 17

Hilda of Zeeland

I never can understand how you Anglisk do things. Honestly, how have you survived as a culture this long?

Hilda left her home in the far off island of Zeeland some years ago, though she never gave a reason. Most of the people around Zeeland treat her with suspicion, for she only appears in town to sell her weapons and tools, and lives outside the town in a small cabin. Having made friends with a young peasant child, she took a liking to her, and felt it necessary to protect her after saving the girl from a botched raid.

Ephasias

It is too late, we have woken the beast of legends

A ship builder from the port village of Tamedubras, Ephasias simply wants to make her family proud, and is willing to to whatever to do that. She mostly tagged along with the part out of finding her own story and making her ancestors happy.

  • Gratuitous Irish: Ephasias' native language, Eirnnean, is displayed thought Irish.

Eohric

We try to discourage such needless fear mongering at the Southern Church, but the pagans cling dearly to their stories.

Eohric is a half Kervaker, half Dane convert to Southern Monotheism. The conversion was so dear to him that he dedicated his life to becoming a priest in the order, and spreading the word of god to all, in the hopes they could experience the joy that he had felt himself.

  • The Church: Being a high priest, Eohric has a high level of power within the walls of Southchurch.
  • Illegal Religion: Southchurch Monotheism is illegal according to the high king.
