H/Allelujah is forever disqualified from having a crowning moment of awesome for raping the dog.
Shay Guy: This needs cleanup. TTGL has a lot of very cool and very stylish moments, but most of these aren't exactly jaw-droppingly "holy crap, I cannot believe you just pulled that off." Take Kamina - the katana thing was crazy-awesome (or just crazy) but it's not nearly as amazing as his
Normally I Would Be Dead Now moment. And while the Dai-Gurren-dan jumping through hyperspace was also executed with plenty of style (helped by the fact that it was fueled by
The Power Of Love), it definitely wasn't a CMOA. Ditto for episode 11, which was a
Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming However, destroying an entire enemy fleet just by
being awesome or
punching a hole in space-time may qualify. Stylish != crowning, epic != crowning, admirable != crowning.
And c'mon...33 entries for
G Gundam? If I'd seen the series, you bet I'd be cutting that down.
Charred Knight: You want bad just look at the Super Smash brothers example, the problem is that everyone wants to give a character one when in the course of the series or games he did nothing of consenquence. An example is Lucas standing up to Wario when his been a complete pussy the entire game, or Mario missing a punch. Not landing a punch missing the punch. Also the definition of this went from being so badass that you fall in love with the character to kind of cool.
Bob: Cutting some of the
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann examples which doesn't fit the CMOA description.
- Though this troper would argue that the scene shortly before, when Yoko relates the story Kamina told her, is Simon's true Crowning Moment Of Awesome, once the implications sink in. Simon's persistence and determination despite being trapped by an earthquake, when Kamina had given up and could do nothing, to keep on digging a way out, directly inspired Kamina to become the man he was. Consider that, for a moment, and understand just how awesome it makes Simon.
- The Gurren Brigade jumps through hyperspace towards the Anti-Spiral homeworld.
DomaDoma: Won't edit the
Code Geass example myself, as I'm following it on
Adult Swim and don't want to be spoiled, but a facial expression needs a whole lot of context to qualify as a Crowning Moment, and even then the only one I can think of is more
Rape The Dog. The one at the end of the first episode definitely doesn't qualify - cool characterization, sure, but sheer awesome and "remembered forever"? Nah, not really.
- Anonymous: I disagree. I watched a parody sub of the first episode 'cause I was bored and became instantly hooked on the series (going straight to immediately find a legit sub) as soon as that moment happened. The fact that first season ended with the same line ("Da kara...") also just had me in fits of glee.
Anonymous: Removed the following
Code Geass example:
- This troper is surprised no one has mentioned when Lelouch first gets his geass. He orders the soldiers who have him cornered to commit suicide, and they willing oblige with a "Yes, my Lord".
- That is mentioned, by proxy anyway, though the expression trope. That's more of an introduction to the character than a moment of awesome given how he freaks out as a result. Now, when he repeats the bit in Season 2... Well, now that's a different story.
Caphi: Why does the
Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann entry look like just a summary of the series? Cleaning it up.
Sean Tucker: Because it damn well needs to be if you want to even describe that series on a CMOA page. Every episode except
episode 6 tops the last by a MASSIVE amount in pure win.
Charred Knight: Could you please stop talking about
Gurren Lagann, your starting to be very annoying, and thats taking into account other
Gurren Lagann fans, at least
Shay Guy apologized for being annoying, and his bad joke.
Caphi: Cleaned up
Code Geass. Half the moments there are par for the course - the series makes a business out of being ridiculously stylish, just look at Lulu's Flaming Batman costume. Hell, some of those moments were par for the course even for a normal
Real Robot series. And guys, the series introduces at least five new mecha a season. Simply unveiling a new one doesn't actually cut it. Guren, yes. Shinkirou, sure. Every
Ace Custom? Noooo.
whitetigah: There. Now the
Gundam entries should be somewhat more readable.
