Zachary John Quinto (Born June 2, 1977) is an American actor. He began acting in small roles in his native Pittsburgh as a child, and claims to have known since a very young age that acting was his calling. He is famous for having BigOlEyebrows, [[{{Series/Heroes}} cutting open people's heads]], or just [[Series/AmericanHorrorStory cutting people up]], and [[Film/StarTrek having pointy ears]].
!!This actor and his roles provide examples of:

* AllLowercaseLetters: His [[http://dailyzqphoto.tumblr.com/post/11527752860/10-16-11-nyc-when-i-found-out-that-jamey blog postings]] and [[http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m1s28xxGbX1qbf154o1_1280.jpg twitter]] are exactly how you would expect. Someone then proceeded to ask him on Reddit about it.
-->'''Redditor''': Are you afraid of capital letters?\\
'''Zachary''': [[DeadpanSnarker TERRIFIED!!!]]
* {{Corpsing}}: Almost broke character when Spock was interrogating Kirk and Scotty; the final scene in the film shows his expression twitching just slightly enough to be missed.
** Also applies to several scenes in ''{{Series/Heroes}}'' where Sylar's expression can change just enough to indicate near-corpsing.
* DeadpanSnarker: Plays [[TheSpock one of the best]], as well as being one himself. Most of his answers on his [[http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/1sh7fp/hey_reddit_zachary_quinto_here_spock_in_new_treks/ Reddit AMA]] is snark.
* DyeingForYourArt: In order to put on the prosthetic Spock eyebrows, he had to shave off his own. ChrisPine described it as a "forehead Brazilian wax."
* EruditeStoner: Admitted to being a marijuana smoker on an interview with Howard Stern. He knew quite a bit about the various paraphernalia, and prefers it socially and in moderation. His character of Jackson in ''We'll Never Have Paris'' has a vaguely stoner vibe to him.
* FanNickname: Often referred as ZQ or La Quinto. His CarpetOfVirility is known as The [[Franchise/{{Batman}} Batsignal]], and his most recognizable trait is known as the Sybrows. Characters he has played are known as Quintoplets.
** FanCommunityNickname: Zachary has a very dedicated and loving community known as Sylar's Army.
* FandomNod: When an interviewer asked him about the the [=SArmy=] (Sylar's Army), who raise money for charities that he supports, he replied that he'd heard of them and considered it pretty damn cool.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Creator/LeonardNimoy after getting the role of Spock.
* TheKlutz / CloudCuckoolander: According to several accounts from both the ''Heroes'' and ''Star Trek'' sets and on-the-street Twitter [[http://dailyzqphoto.tumblr.com/post/12512222901/zq-was-on-fire-today-at-one-point-he-makes-a sightings]].
** His Twitter sometimes will lapse into complete [[http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m1s28xxGbX1qbf154o1_1280.jpg nonsense]], giving off a CloudCuckoolander impression.
** Was nearly hit by a car because he stopped in the middle of crossing a street to take a [[http://dailyzqphoto.tumblr.com/post/13013132601/sexyzach picture]] of a ''balloon''.
* RealLife/MeanCharacterNiceActor: Is quite laid back and sweet in RealLife, but once he gets into character, prepare to be terrified.
** Creator/StephenTobolowsky talks about working on ''Series/{{Heroes}}'' during one of his podcasts, and despite only sharing a single deleted scene, describes him as 'the sweetest guy' in admiring tones. Take note, this was a scene in which Zach's character killed Stephen's, and Zach apologized numerous times. Stephen only mentions Creator/KristenBell as being just as nice.
* MrFanservice: As Sylar's popularity increased, the writers wrote in more thinly veiled {{Fanservice}} moments into his scenes. There's a reason he and Milo Ventimiglia, who plays Peter, have the most {{shirtless scene}}s in the show.
* PromotedFanboy: An avowed drama geek from the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, he was extremely pleased to be cast as Louis in a production of ''AngelsInAmerica'' as he was a fan of the material.
** Played with in that it wasn't until he was cast as the reboot Spock that he became a fan of Star Trek.
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: Tends to speak in an articulate manner, although tends to lapse into BuffySpeak or SophisticatedAsHell in more casual settings. Both Sylar and Spock are known for long lines of dialogue.
** He plays this up to its full hilt on the press tours for ''Film/StarTrek'' and ''Film/StarTrekIntoDarkness''. In order to entertain themselves and alleviate the boredom of press junkets, he and ChrisPine engaged in a game of cramming in as many vocabulary words as they can into their answers, regardless of the context.
* StraightGay: A shining example of someone whose sexual orientation is just a minor detail.
* TypeCasting: Typically cast as mentally unbalanced or at least morally dark {{Jerkass}} characters. His roles as Sasan and Spock, and his roles in ''Film/MarginCall'' and ''We'll Never Have Paris'' is actually him PlayingAgainstType.
** The typecasting goes so deep that he was listed under "killers" on the [[Characters/{{Hannibal}} character page]] for ''Series/{{Hannibal}}'' before his episode even aired. [[spoiler:It turns out he was innocent of any crime and completely harmless. For almost three seasons, it's been said that his character attacked his psychiatrist when it's been quite the opposite way around the whole time.]]
