Open Road Films is a distribution label that was created in 2011 as a joint venture between theatre companies AMC and Regal as a way to fill some of their many screens (though they do also distribute to other chains). Distributing mostly genre fare, nearly all of their titles are pickups that are made independently or were dropped by other studios but unlike most studios, do not produce projects in-house. The company also has deals with Universal (DVD/Blu Ray/on demand) and Netflix (pay cable).
