I, Johnny Yong Bosch, command you to... DESCRIBE ME HERE!

Happily, Your Highness! Born John Jay Bosch, Johnny Yong Bosch (Fan Abbreviation: JYB) is a former Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers star (he was a frog) who has since moved on to anime voice acting, starting as Vash the Stampede in Manga/Trigun, and has since moved on to other lead roles. This coincidentally pitted him as the star and hero for the ONLY TWO new anime Creator/AdultSwim was running for a year and a half- this streak ended when Anime/CodeGeass completed its run in May 2009. This plus the earlier run of Anime/EurekaSeven led many to call the starting anime block "The JYB Power Hour". When combined with his role as Ichigo in Manga/Bleach, Adult Swim meant two things: shows from Williams Street, and shows starring JYB. He is the vocalist for his own band, Eyeshine. Oh, and he's an accomplished martial artist who can Badass kick IKnowKarate your ass.

His Japanese vocal equivalent is Creator/MasakazuMorita, since their voices have identical ranges. His career path, on the other hand, mirrors Creator/MasayaMatsukaze. In terms of casting, he is the American equivalent to Creator/JunFukuyama, as well as being the California counterpart to Creator/SoichiroHoshi Alongside with Creator/YuriLowenthal, Creator/NobuhikoOkamoto, Creator/MamoruMiyano, and Creator/HiroShimono, and the western counterpart to Creator/HiroshiKamiya. His Canadian counterparts are Creator/BradSwaile, Creator/KirbyMorrow and Creator/AndrewFrancis, his Texan counterparts are Creator/ChrisPatton, Creator/ToddHaberkorn (who currently also works in L.A.), Creator/DavidMatranga, Creator/MicahSolusod, Creator/AustinTindle, and Creator/BlakeShepard, and his New York counterpart is Creator/JasonGriffith. Creator/ErikKimerer is shaping up to be his SpiritualSuccessor. His DistaffCounterpart is Creator/KarenStrassman.

!!It's Tropin' Time!
* AntiHero: Surprisingly, despite him constantly being typecasted as heroes, he's quite capable of voicing anti-heroes such as Lelouch Lamperouge .
** Mr. Bosch himself stated in his Myspace blog that anti-heroes are his personal preference.
* Bishonen: He's voiced quite a few.
* ButNotTooForeign: In an interview, he stated that he's half-Korean.
* CastingGag: He shares a total of six different roles with Jun Fukuyama (Albert Morcerf from Anime/Gankutsuou, Lelouch Lamperouge from Anime/CodeGeass, Haruto Sakaki from Anime/WitchHunterRobin, Juto from VideoGame/MagnaCarta, Yukio Okumura from Manga/BlueExorcist) and Joe Shimamura in Cyborg 009 VS Devilman.
** Johnny was the English voice of Creator/DaisukeOno in Manga/LuckyStar after the two shared the role of Itsuki.
* CrossdressingVoices: While he hasn't voiced any female characters, some of the younger boy roles he's played happened to be voiced by a woman in the Japanese dub (e.g. Renton and Ryuto). In fact, the youngest character he's voiced in anime is Noby[=/=]Nobita from Anime/Doraemon, who happens to be 10-years old.
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: According to Johnny himself, his role as Renton Thurston was considered to be the hardest role he has gotten because he was pressured to pull a higher-pitched voice for the character in a short period of time. Instead of the HeroicRROD typical for heroes that do this, the role instead helped land him into younger characters with said pitch.
* TheDanza: Johnny Yong Bosch as Johnny and Jonathan Joestar.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Black Ranger Adam was TheCape style morality, then he did the upbeat but still angsty Vash. Then he did characters that are either morally ambiguous, have more broken past lives, sociopathic and/or psychopathic, or just plain sullen and stoic.
* DumbIsGood: If his character is good, he's generally not that intelligent. If his character is smart, he's generally not very good.
** Ichigo Kurosaki is an interesting aversion to this trope, because while he's got the LeeroyJenkins thing down, he's actually quite intelligent, both in school and in battle. This totally applies to Ichigo's SuperpoweredEvilSide, though.
** Yu Narukami is a complete aversion. Not only is he very smart and resourceful in battle and school, he's also the main hero. Or it's possible said smarts come from eating stuff out of the fridge.
* FakeBrit: Jonathan Joestar.
* FullNameBasis: A lot of people say his full name when talking about him; even on this wiki.
** One exception was in the first few episodes of Power Rangers where he was introduced, when he was credited under John Bosch.
* TheHero: His primary forte. As he once noted in an interview, it was his "perfect Hero Voice" that landed him his first anime voice acting role.
* HeroicMime: Johnny pulls this off with The Protagonist in VideoGame/Persona 4 and in the few instances in which he speaks, he sounds more like a Power Ranger (he calls out almost every Persona like he's saying "IT'S MORPHING TIME!"). Though in Arena, he's a mime no longer and sounds quite a fair bit like Adachi. To try and fix this, Adachi sounds much raspier in The Animation while Yu sounds more neutral. Also worth noting is that Johnny is one of three voice actors to play a character in Persona 4 and not get recast at any point after (the others being Creator/YuriLowenthal as Yosuke and Creator/AmandaWinnLee as Yukiko).
* HotBlooded: Also part of his primary forte, though ironically in Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann, he voices Rossiu, TheSpock amongst the cast.
* KidHero: Ever since his PlayingAgainstType role of Renton Thurston, he's been getting some roles where he uses a higher-pitch voice that casts him into younger characters. We've got Emil, Almaz, Sakura Kusakabe, Seto, Xiba, Guren, and Noby; they all have a higher pitched voice in stark contrast to his older characters like Vash the Stampede and Ichigo Kurosaki.
* LargeHam:
** Most of his voice acting makes the characters larger than life to the point of SuperlativeDubbing.
** Taken a step further in the Anime/Persona4TheAnimation dub. As you can see, he not only puts the emotion to it when Yu's presented with a large beef bowl, he literally devours it.
** His performance as Sanada Yukimura was highly praised for his dedication in screaming just about every single line at the top of his lungs.
** Let's just say that hamminess is part of his blood.
* NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent:
** While he's capable of pulling off a high-pitch voice like Renton Thurston, he hadn't played any role that involved pulling off an accent. That was until:
** He's spoken in a completely different language in a dub - being Izaya's voice actor required him to speak Russian for a few lines. It sounds near perfect compared to Izaya's original voice.
** Similarly, while still easily recognizable, he also attempted a Japanese accent in VideoGame/BinaryDomain as Kurosawa. Seeing as he'd worked a lot of anime titles in the past, it's no surprise he managed to pick this accent up quickly.
** He ends up breaking the mold again with his role as Jonathan Joestar in Manga/JojosBizarreAdventure where he spots a realistic British accent, and has caught a lot of anime fans by surprise.
* PigeonholedVoiceActor: A majority of his roles are HotBlooded heroes that tend to be very hammy.
* PlayingAgainstType:
** In addition to above mentioned roles, he's voiced a whiny ButtMonkey, Sakura Kusakabe, from LightNovel/BludgeoningAngelDokurochan.
** And as Rossiu in Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann. Since he usually plays HotBlooded Large Hams, you'd think the man would be right at home in a series where more than half the cast fits that description, but he voices one of the few characters who doesn't chew the scenery.
** And mentally unstable psychopaths such as Ryuunosuke Uryuu, Tokio, Kyouji Shinkawa, Adachi, Sasori, and Saruhiko Fushimi.
** Fuji from Manga/ThePrinceOfTennis is a friendly, calm, ever-smiling DudeLooksLikeALady who's voiced by a woman in the original Japanese.
** Kurosawa from VideoGame/BinaryDomain, as he's not only a ByTheBookCop ReasonableAuthorityFigure, he also gave the character a Japanese accent, which surprised many people since he rarely does accents in his voice work.
** People familiar with Anime/MobileSuitGundamIronBloodedOrphans were surprised by the decision to cast him as Orga. Personality-wise, Orga's actually not too far off from his usual typecast (he's a essentially a young leader who's rough around the edges) but Creator/YoshimasaHosoya's vocal range is noticeably lower and gruffer/huskier than what Johnny's known for. He himself said that he'd initially auditioned for Mikazuki, and had to prepare for every IBO session in a certain way.
* RelationshipVoiceActor:
** Usually plays either alongside or opposite to Creator/YuriLowenthal. And once, both.
** Also worked with Creator/CrispinFreeman in many of the voice acting work, either as a steadfast ally (or understudy) or overly smug rival, as well as inferior.
** His characters also tend to get paired with those played by Creator/StephanieSheh, Creator/MichelleRuff, or Creator/LauraBailey, the first two especially so.
*** An interesting case with Stephanie Sheh and Johnny Yong Bosch in Anime/KillLaKill .
** Johnny and Creator/DanSouthworth are both former PowerRangers who also did voice work together in VideoGame/DevilMayCry 4 (Johnny as Nero and Dan as Credo and Virgil) and VideoGame/UltimateMarvelVsCapcom3 (Johnny as Zero and Dan reprising his role as Vergil).
* SpiritualSuccessor: Considering his similar vocal range and typcasts, he is this to Creator/DaveWittenberg.
----
!!Tropes associated with his band:
* AlbumTitleDrop: In "Silverstar" on Tone of Echoes.
* MrFanservice: Band co-founder and drummer Maurice is this. See WalkingShirtlessScene.
* PerishingAltRockVoice: Johnny sings this way pretty often, probably because his voice has gone raspy from all the yelling he's done in doing anime voices.
* RevolvingDoorBand: While Eyeshine has some fame, the band isn't a full time gig for any of its members. As such, many members have had to leave to focus on their careers or left for personal reasons, so the band's gone through many guitarists and bassists.
* RockstarSong: "Let's Play Our Way".
* StudioChatter: Done at the beginning of "Blackout" on Red Stripes White Lights.
* TeamDad: Crossing over with PapaWolf, Johnny is definitely this. He takes very good care of his bandmates and will shed his normally easygoing demeanor if a situation could affect them or the band negatively.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Maurice nearly always plays their live shows without a shirt.
