!!Tropes associated with him:
* CoolOldGuy: As the titular character in ''Johnny Tsunami''.
* LargeHam
* RealLife/MeanCharacterNiceActor: Many of his movies have him cast as men who are, put simply, not nice guys. Mr. Tagawa himself [[http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0846480/bio is a part-time masseur for the University of Hawaii's football team]], and is noted as being [[http://www.allmovie.com/artist/cary-hiroyuki-tagawa-p69577 very courteous and non-violent]].
* PlayingAgainstType: Be honest--would you expect to see the guy who played [[YourSoulIsMine Shang Tsung]] riding a surfboard in ''Johnny Tsunami''?
