Bernard Hill (born 17 December 1944 in Manchester, England) is a British actor, best known for his roles as Captain Edward J. Smith in Titanic and as King Théoden in The Lord of the Rings film series. Notably, these two roles made him the first actor to star in two films that grossed $1 billion at the box office, as they (specifically, The Return of the King for the latter) were the first to hit that mark.
