!!Aniplex USA provides examples of:
* DarkerAndEdgier: Aniplex has released titles written by Creator/GenUrobuchi.
* ExecutiveMeddling: Before Aniplex USA was established in 2010, many of the shows the Japanese branch produced beforehand (or in the early 2010's) were licensed by either {{Creator/Funimation}} or Creator/SentaiFilmworks such as ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'', ''{{LightNovel/Baccano}}'', ''Anime/DarkerThanBlack'', ''Manga/BlackButler'', ''Anime/AngelBeats'', ''Manga/InuXBokuSS'', and ''Anime/Persona4TheAnimation''. While Aniplex initially allowed these companies to continue their distribution of these shows, starting in 2016 [[ScrewedByTheNetwork they refused to allow Funimation to renew their licenses]]. That being said, with Creator/{{Funimation}} being acquired by Creator/SonyPictures, many of their titles are available in Funimation's streaming service (as Aniplex is owned by Sony).
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Many of their older releases have started going out of print as of recently. They have responded to this however by releasing complete collections for ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'', and ''{{LightNovel/Durarara}}'', and re-printing the standard edition DVD releases for ''LightNovel/FateZero''. However releases such as the Blu-ray of ''{{LightNovel/Baccano}}'' have not seen a reprint.
* LimitedSpecialCollectorsUltimateEdition: They're rather fond of using bonus content as a way to jack up the price of their [=DVDs=] to obscene levels - usually around $80-$90 for a twelve-episode show and $140-$150 for a 24 episode show.
** However, nothing comes close to their imported Blu-ray edition of ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'', which was sold for ''$550 for a 27 episode series and two movies!''
*** They're now creating their own domestic release of the Blu-ray set, individual Special Edition volumes, $50 ($60 if not bought through their preferred online retailer), 5 episodes a disc, no VanillaEdition.
** They topped themselves again with ''Anime/KillLaKill'', which features a single four-episode volume with an MSRP of ''$76'' (Though through their retailer of choice RightStuf they even out to $60.) The VanillaEdition UsefulNotes/BluRay is still ''$40'' for the same amount of episodes and the DVD is still a crazy ''$30''.
* LighterAndSofter: They released ''Manga/YourLieInApril'', which is their first non-action series to get a dub.
* NoDubForYou: A lot of their titles are sub only, but, unlike [=NIS=] America (at least prior to March 2014) and ''Creator/NozomiEntertainment'', they don't ''completely'' refuse to do so, and do release some titles with English dubs (if that weren't the case, ''Sword Art Online'' and ''Blue Exorcist'' would not have been able to air on Creator/{{Toonami}}).
** It's also a bit justified. Most of the titles they have are either too niche (i.e. ''Manga/SilverSpoon'' and ''Manga/{{Nisekoi}}''), too otaku-pandering (i.e. ''LightNovel/{{Oreimo}}''), or too difficult to dub properly (i.e. ''LightNovel/{{Bakemonogatari}}''). That being said, their dubbing strategy is best describe as "dub only big and popular titles that will net us good profit and might have a decent chance in Creator/{{Toonami}}" (like ''Sword Art Online'', ''Blue Exorcist'', and ''Anime/KillLaKill''). Many of the titles they dub are either big name action titles or anime with Creator/GenUrobuchi's name on it. Also, unlike fellow companies such as Creator/FUNimation, Creator/SentaiFilmworks or [[Creator/NipponIchi NIS America]], they are the ''least'' likely to re-release titles with dubs (''Manga/BlueExorcist'' being an exception to this). Also, they are least likely to dub romantic comedies and dramas, that was until ''Manga/YourLieInApril'', which was noted to be the first non-action title to get an English dub from Aniplex USA.
* NoExportForYou: The fate of some of the more obscure shows in their catalog. There are many shows they've had licensed for years but have never seen the light of day on a home video release and are only available via streaming.
** Canadians has it worse since they never exported any of their series outside of streaming services like Netflix. Meaning that if you want a physical copy of ''LightNovel/SwordArtOnline'', you have to pay extra for shipping.
* ProductionPosse: Almost all of their English dubs are produced by Creator/BangZoomEntertainment. The exceptions have been:
** ''Kiznaiver'', dubbed by The Ocean Group in Canada as Crunchyroll was on the show's production committee with control over the localisation whilst [=AoA=] only had disc rights.
** ''Persona 5 The Animation'', handled by the game's dubbing studio Creator/PCBProductions to retain the cast.
** And their new relationship with Funimation meaning certain titles will be dubbed by them in the future (''Darwin's Game'' and ''Kaguya-sama'' being among the first).
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: Beginning in 2016, Aniplex USA decided not to have Funimation renew their shows.
* StartMyOwn: In a departure for many Japanese production companies, Aniplex decided to form their own American branch in order to keep their Western distributions in-house. This resulted in Creator/{{Funimation}} and later Creator/SentaiFilmworks losing the rights to several titles [[note]]''Angel Beats'', ''Baccano'', ''Birdy the Might'', ''Darker Than Black'', the ''Fullmetal Alchemist'' franchise, and ''Sekirei''[[/note]] that they previously dubbed and distributed.
