A character sheet for the more prominent monsters in the ''Franchise/YuGiOh'' anime and manga adaptations. Please put cards in the appropriate section. All cards are listed by their English names in the real-life card game and organized by series of origin, but otherwise the character names from the English manga are used. The Japanese card names, if they differ from the English, are noted in brackets. Monsters that appear in multiple spin-offs are grouped under the series they first appeared in.

In case you can't find a card or archetype a character uses. You may find them on [[Characters/YuGiOhCardGame this page]] instead since some of them lack characterization or plot importance. With some exceptions here being cards that don't have a part there.

Merging with the Card Game characters page, because the cards in the anime are technically also cards in the card game.

! Original series (Manga, Toei, ''Duel Monsters'')

[[folder:Dark Magician]]
!!'''Dark Magician''' (''Black Magician'', ブラック・マジシャン, ''Burakku Majishan'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blackmagician_4599.png]]

Yugi/Dark Yugi's [[TheAce ace monster]], its design inspired an entire archetype that continues to receive support to this day. It, or some variation of it, features prominently in pretty much every major ''Duel Monsters'' battle the KingOfGames has, usually appearing at the last turn to deal the final blow.

The card is based on the ka form of Mahad, a magician from Pharaoh Atem's court who gave his life to become the Dark Magician and fight Thief King Bakura with new strength, who in turn had the Illusion Magician monster.
----
* AdaptationDyeJob: In the manga, he wore a dark blue outfit and was blond with pale skin. In the anime, he has a purple outfit and purple hair.
** In-universe, the Shadow RPG version of the Dark Magician, which was the real Dark Magician (Priest Mahado), was tanned.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: A fair number of depictions give him teal skin.
* ArtEvolution: Over the course of the manga his design becomes noticeably more attractive, from his pretty-boy features to his costume revealing more and more of his muscular build.
* BadassBoast: His card description: "The ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense."
* BadassNormal: Literally, he's a Normal monster with no effect, but a wealth of support cards that allow him to overcome superior foes.
* BadassTeacher: As Mahado, towards Mana a.k.a. the human summoner of the Dark Magician Girl.
* BashBrothers: He and Jonouchi's Flame Swordsman play this role throughout Duelist Kingdom, and reprise it during the Virtual Nightmare arc.
* {{Bishonen}}: Let's just say that he has as many [[ChickMagnet fangirls]] as his protégé down there has fanboys.
* ColorMotif: Purple, but only in the anime.
* EvilTwin: Has one in Arkana's/Pandora's version of the Dark Magician, who has a different, much more villainous design. See [[http://41.media.tumblr.com/18cc89f87a17e949cf03843ae5a525af/tumblr_inline_nu2chhdcqp1sku8xc_500.png here]] for a direct comparison.
* {{Expy}}:
** The basic design of his armor -- metallic color, rings, [[BadassCape a cloak or cape]], curved pointed hat-helmet -- would serve as the basis for countless Spellcasters to come.
** Aside from his Fused forms like Dark Sage and Dark Paladin, he has several alternate forms, including Dark Eradicator Warlock, Ebon Illusion Magician, and Legendary Magician of Dark. There's also Jaden's Miracle Flipper and Yuma's Gagaga Magician.
** In a more general sense, he started the tradition of the protagonist having an ace monster with 2500 ATK; Elemental HERO Neos, Stardust Dragon, Number 39: Utopia, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, and Firewall Dragon. His TCG card has 2100 DEF, but the short-run Bandai card game gave him 2000, which the mentioned ace monsters to follow all have as well (save for Firewall Dragon; as a Link Monster it has no DEF).
* FingerWag: Sometimes does this after pulling off his "Mystic Box" trick.
* FreudianTrio: The Ego to Dark Magician Girl's Id, and Magician of Black Chaos' Superego.
* FusionDance: With Flame Swordsman (Dark Flare Knight), Buster Blader (Dark Paladin), Time Wizard (Dark Sage), and the Eye of Timaeus (Amulet Dragon and possibly an unreleased Fusion). In-series, he is the result of the fusion of the spirits of Mahad and his monster ka, the Magus of Illusions.
* IconicSequelCharacter: Doesn't even appear during Yugi and Kaiba's first duel in the manga and the TOEI adaptation, with the winning blow going to the Summoned Skull instead.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: Exact hair color differs depending on the card art, including white.
* MagicKnight: Some of his "evolved" forms, Dark Paladin, Dark Flare Knight and Dark Magician Knight, are [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Exactly What They Say On The Card]].
* MagicStaff: Wields a long green and purple staff through which he casts his spells.
* MerlinAndNimue: He is the Dark Magician Girl's teacher/mentor, while she is the student/apprentice.
* MrFanservice: Courtesy of ArtEvolution giving him a more toned build and emphasizing his {{Bishonen}} features.
* OldMaster: His Dark Sage form seen in the anime adaptation.
* PerpetualFrowner: Seems to be a trademark of Dark Yugi's cards.
** In the manga, he (the card) smiles quite a bit, most notably when Manga Dark Yugi does his cocky smirks.
* PurpleIsTheNewBlack: The Black Magician was made dark blue and purple rather than black, because an all-black costume doesn't work very well for black and white manga pages. Some of his alternate forms as well as his alternate artwork cards may darken his armor to be closer to black.
* StageMagician: Many of his support cards are based on traditional magician props, such as Thousands Knives, Mystic Box, and Magical Hats.
* SummonMagic: His Shadow RPG counterpart requires a certain amount of ''Ba'' to be summoned.
* SwordAndSorcerer: Often the "Sorcery" half, with Yugi's Buster Blader or Jonouchi's Flame Swordsman providing the "Sword".
* TookALevelInBadass: Several possible, each with its own power. Unusually for this trope, doing this generally precludes taking others.
** Fusing with Buster Blader, makes him the Dark Paladin, who can negate any sort of Spell and gets powered up by facing Dragons.
** Absorbing the mystical power, and life energy of another mage, makes him the Sorcerer of Dark Magic, who can negate any sort of trap.
** Studying Light Magic, in addition to his own Dark Magic, makes him the Dark Magician of Chaos, allowing him access to lost magics, and stranger arts besides.
** In the anime, being aged a millennium makes him the Dark Sage, who has access to new and strange kinds of magic.
** Fusing with the Eye of Timaeus, and thus powering them up as the mounted Amulet Dragon, allowing them to feed of the energy of Spells.
* UndyingLoyalty: As Mahado, he is very much loyal to Pharaoh Atem. In fact, the very reason Mahado willingly became the "Dark Magician" in the past is so he can be his eternal servant. Also a literal application of the trope name, as a last ditch effort to defeat Thief King Bakura, he did so by allowing his body to be killed, only for his spirit to fuse with that of his own spirit monster, the Magus of Illusions, live on in the form of the Dark Magician.
* WeakButSkilled: He's not terribly powerful at 2500 ATK and lacks an effect, but to make up for this, he has quite a lot of support cards.

[[folder:Dark Magician Girl]]
!!'''Dark Magician Girl''' (''Black Magician Girl'' ブラック・マジシャン・ガール ''Burakku Majishan Gaaru'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sexyblackmagiciangirl_7211.png]]

A female counterpart to the Dark Magician, she's not as powerful but is just as key a part of Yugi/Dark Yugi's deck. Her card is based on Mana, a childhood friend of Pharaoh Atem and Mahado's CuteWitch apprentice, and serves as one of the game pieces during Dark Yugi's battle against Dark Bakura during the Shadow RPG.

As a ''Duel Monsters'' card, she gains 300 ATK points for every Dark Magician in the Graveyard. In the anime, she's also a favorite of Téa Gardner and serves as her Deck Master.
----
* ActionGirl: One of the most prominent female monsters in the franchise.
* AdaptationDyeJob: In the manga, there is an in-universe example of this: the original Monster Spirit version of Dark Magician Girl in the Millennium World arc had tanned skin and the pentagram on her chest was replaced with the Eye of Anubis. The anime adaptation gets this wrong and uses her ''Duel Monsters'' design.
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: The anime makes her a [[CuteClumsyGirl cuter and clumsier]] character, while she is more of the sexy and serious type in the manga.
* AscendedExtra: In the anime, she became a prominent character in the DOMA arc, appearing in spirit form before other Duel Monsters in Season 5. Also became the subject of a RunningGag in ''Anime/YuGiOhGX'', where Sho/Syrus has a crush on her and she even appears in the flesh to duel Judai.
* BadassAdorable: She's adorable as hell, [[CuteBruiser but still kicks ass]].
* BlackMagicianGirl: Like her aforementioned master, she's the TropeNamer for this.
* BlushSticker: Arguably, [[DudeMagnet her charm isn't complete]] without these, permanently under her eyes.
* {{Bowdlerise}}: A frequent victim of it. When one of the most famous characters in both the anime/manga and real-life card game walks around in a [[DangerouslyShortSkirt short skirt]] and a top cut low on her large breasts, sooner or later censorship will kick in. She is given the DigitalBikini treatment as needed and has her bust size reduced ([[http://i.imgur.com/4MmE6xT.png sometimes]] [[http://i.imgur.com/nXlImkR.png drastically]])[[note]]Images from the anime and the ''Destiny Board Travellers'' video game, respectively; original japanese versions on the left, localizations on the right.[[/note]] in all of her Western appearances as dictated by [[Creator/FourKidsEntertainment 4Kids]].
* BreakoutCharacter: She became one of Dark Yugi's key cards, and is more iconic across the franchise than the intended icon (Dark Magician) himself. She has several alternate card artworks and Expies, makes an appearance in every series and spin-off in some fashion, and is even a playable character in some of the video games.
* CargoShip [[ShipTease Tease]]: In-universe, between her and Atem. Given that she was the Ka spirit of Mana, Atem's childhood friend, and the two of them got ShipTease of their own, ItMakesSenseInContext.
** Also gets this with Sho in ''Anime/YuGiOhGX'', where a RunningGag in early seasons shows his crush on her.
* CoolBigSis: Shows some shades of this towards Anzu during one of the anime's filler arcs.
* CuteWitch: Borders on HotWitch, depending on how blatant the {{Fanservice}} is.
* DarkIsNotEvil: A ''real'' stretch on the "Black[=/=]Dark" moniker, her outfit is bright blue and pink, and she's bubbly and sweet.
* DarkSkinnedBlond: Mana, her human summoner, was this in the manga. The Dark Magician Girl herself was one as a Monster Ka in the manga.
* DemonicPossession: In the Battle City duel between Dark Yugi and Dark Bakura, Dark Bakura uses a card to possess her and force her to attack Dark Yugi. It's more heart-breaking when you see that she is crying as she's attacking him.
* DistaffCounterpart: The name should be a clue. This carries over to their Expies as well, Card Ejector to Miracle Flipper as child forms of the two, Magi Magi Magician Gal to Sorcerer of Dark Magic as powered-up forms needing two Level 6 monsters to summon, Gagaga Girl to Gagaga Magician as Gagaga members meant to work together, and Apprentice Illusion Magician to Ebon Illusion Magician as retrained versions based on Mahad and Mana's designs.
* EarlyBirdCameo: In the 2nd opening of the anime ("Shuffle!"), she briefly appears alongside the Dark Magician, a number of episodes before her official anime introduction. Before that, there was no prior indication that she existed besides reading the manga.
* {{Expy}}:
** Magician's Valkyria, Gagaga Girl, Card Ejector, Magi Magi Magician Gal, and Apprentice Illusion Magician.
** The "Magician Girl" series is an entire ''archetype'' of Expies designed to synergize with her.
* FanServicePack: In her initial appearances in the anime she wasn't very voluptuous in the figure, and was decisively more "cute" than "sexy." Later episodes increased her [[BoobsOfSteel bust size]], made her body more curvaceous, tweaked her facial design, and characters in-universe began to [[DudeMagnet comment on how hot she is]]. This also carries over to her card art; her initial art only showed her upper torso just looking out at the player, but now she's almost universally depicted full-body in provocative poses (just take a look at her profile pic up higher, for one).
* FreudianTrio: The Id to Dark Magician's Ego, and Magician of Dark Chaos' Superego.
* GenkiGirl: Her human summoner Mana who is directly linked to the ka version of the Dark Magician Girl; the card's Solid Vision hologram sometimes shows indications of this, especially if Dark Magician is also on the field.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: She has long, flowing blonde hair and is one of the hero's trump cards.
* ImpossiblyLowNeckline: There's no way that top can stay on without some magic of a different sort.
* MerlinAndNimue:
** With the Dark Magician, in both their card and Ancient Egyptian Ka forms. They are rather closer in age than most, with there being only about a 10-year age difference. Note that the Dark Magician Girl becomes more powerful if a Dark Magician is in either player's graveyard. Mana, the channeler of the Dark Magician Girl, became stronger on her own to avenge Mahado, the priest who eventually became the Dark Magician ka.
** Another link between the two is the Spell Card "The Sage's Stone" which allows the player to summon Dark Magician if he controls Dark Magician Girl. There's also another card "Bond Between Teacher and Student" that does the exact opposite, and then allows you to add one of four specific cards to your hand, two of which only activate when both Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl are together on the field.
* MsFanservice: The iconic one for the franchise; a blue (or green in some medias)-eyed blonde with big boobs, [[ShesGotLegs long legs]], and a trim figure, clad in an extremely revealing outfit. Rule34 hit '''''hard'''''. There's been many attractive females in the franchise, both as characters and as cards, but none of them have come close to her popularity.
* PantyShot:
** ''Averted'' in Episode 102 in the original Japanese anime--in a scene where her skirt flies up, [[GoingCommando her bare rear is showcased]]. 4Kids, in one of their more understandable instances of censorship, drew her some pink panties ([[SkirtoverSlacks or hot pants]]) for the dub.
** Played straight in the manga when Dark Yugi is dueling Dark Marik. It's revealed that her outfit is actually similar to a one-piece swimsuit adorned with magician accessories. [[http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zzHwilXjCk0/UPFqukzWoBI/AAAAAAACKIQ/nUg286PdyYw/s0/272_07.jpg?imgmax=1600 See here]].
* PerpetualSmiler: Her card art depicts her as always smiling.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Crossed with TrueBlueFemininity with her outfit, which is blue with pink frills. Her attacks are also pink.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Implied, since she gets an attack boost for every Dark Magician or Magician of Black Chaos in the graveyard.
* ShesGotLegs: Her skirt and boots prominently expose her long legs.
* ShipTease: In the past, her channeler CuteWitch Mana with Atem. Her introduction in the anime has her jumping out of a vase and glomping him happily, saying she missed him even though Mahado says it has only been one day since she last saw him.
** To some extent, with Mahado as well. This also extends to Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl.
* StudentAndMasterTeam: She and the Dark Magician, which mirrors Mana and Mahado.
* SummonMagic: Her Shadow RPG version requires Mana's ''Ba'' and ''Heka'' to be summoned and channeled.
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: Do not mess with or hurt Dark Yugi/Pharaoh Atem or the Dark Magician/Priest Mahado, whether she's the Dark Magician Girl or Mana.

[[folder:Magician Of Black Chaos]]
!!'''Magician Of Black Chaos''' (''Magician of Black Chaos'' マジシャン・オブ・ブラックカオス ''Majishan Obu Burakku Kaosu'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/magicianblackchaos_700.png]]

The Dark Magician transformed by the power of chaos, he first appears in the latter's Shadow Game with Pegasus, where he served as Dark Yugi's trump card in the original manga and its adaptation. He also puts in an appearance in the anime's Virtual World arc, where he joins Dark Yugi's other Dark Magicians in turning the duel against Noah Kaiba. In ''GX'', a "retrained" variant, the Dark Magician of Chaos, appears in Yugi's deck when it goes on tour.

----
* DarkIsNotEvil: Probably the best example in Dark Yugi's deck. Unlike the other members of the Magicians, he's truly evil looking, has a definitely nasty-vibe, is called Magician of Black Chaos, and serves as one of TheHero's trump cards.
* EarlyBirdCameo: In the anime, a Magician of Black Chaos is shown in the first Shadow Game against Pegasus while Pegasus is giving a monologue about the origin of Duel Monsters, squaring off against a Thousand-Eyes Restrict. The exact-same match-up takes place in Dark Yugi and Pegasus' final duel in Duelist Kingdom.
* EvilSorcerer: Unlike Black Magician and Black Magician Girl, he ''definitely'' gives off this vibe.
* MagicStaff: As with the normal Dark Magician, it wields a staff to channel its spells.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: His name essentially says "I am uncontrollably evil. Run away!"
* NiceHat: Wears a huge hat with horn-like protrusions on either side.
* OhCrap: When Dark Yugi summons it, Pegasus' reaction is "Not him! Not now!"
* PerpetualFrowner: Much like Dark Magician before him, his expression rarely changes from this, and even less so than his predecessors, whether in battle or when being destroyed.
* TheStoic: Compared to Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl, Magician of Black Chaos remains stone-faced in all but a few rare instances. And even when he ''does'' emote, only his eyes tend to shift.
* SummonMagic: Requires the Black Chaos Ritual to appear.

[[folder:Kuriboh]]
!! '''Kuriboh''' (''Kuriboh'' クリボー ''Kuribō'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kuriboh_tf04_jp_vg.jpg]]
Kuriboh is another of Yugi's trademark cards, an adorable little fluffball with eyes. Despite being an unassuming Level 1 monster with only 300/200 stats, Kuriboh becomes very dangerous with the right combos, which Yugi exploits when opponents underestimate its powers.

Every series has a Kuriboh. ''GX'' has Winged Kuriboh owned by Judai, ''5D's'' has Kuribon owned by Ruka, ''ZEXAL'' has Kurivolt and Rainbow Kuriboh owned by Yuma, as well as Kite's Kuriphoton, and ''VRAINS'' has Linkuriboh, owned by Yusaku and Linguriboh owned by Ai. The ''5D's'' manga also has Junkuriboh, used by Yusei, while the ''ARC-V'' manga has Performapal Kuriborder, used by Yuya.

For tropes associated by Linkuriboh go to the VRAINS section underneath

----

* ActionBomb: The original Kuriboh explodes on contact with enemies.
* CherryTapping: When there's an opening, Yugi will use it to attack his opponent's life points directly because every little bit helps.
* DarkIsNotEvil: The original Kuriboh is a DARK-Attribute Fiend-Type, but is benevolent.
* {{Expy}}: Later Kuribohs are based on other famous cards. Relinkuriboh is based on Pegasus's Relinquished, and Sphere Kuriboh is based on the Winged Dragon of Ra's sphere mode. Back in the ''GX'' manga, Winged Kuriboh Level 9 is wearing the "magician" style armor of that archetype.
* FusionDance: Yugi brings out the "Five Kuriboh Brothers," which can merge into various other forms. We only see Kuribandit and Kuribabylon, however.
* LethalJokeCharacter: Despite looking harmless, they have some [[BewareTheCuteOnes dangerous]] [[BewareTheNiceOnes tricks]] up their sleeves that let their owners turn the tide.
* LightIsGood: Aside from the original Kuriboh and its powered-up forms, the Kuribohs are all Light-attribute.
* NotSoHarmless: Kuriboh first met Yugi when he completed the Millennium Puzzle. It then tried to ''eat'' him.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: {{Invoked|Trope}} and [[UpToEleven exaggerated]] [[PlayedForLaughs for laughs]]. In Yugi and Kaiba's duel against a pair of Rare Hunters, Kuriboh can only stare in awe at Obelisk's overwhelming power.
* PokemonSpeak: Most of them tend to only say "kuri", at least in the original Japanese version. Most of the time in the English dub it's replaced by a vague humming noise.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: The Kuribohs are some of the most adorable things you'll ever see in the series.
* SeriesMascot: Variant. While no one Kuriboh is this, the family as a whole functions as the trope since almost every spin-off has a Kuriboh somewhere in the cast.
* SpannerInTheWorks: This is basically what the function is for the entire archetype. An opponent is finally going to win with an powerful attack that is going to wipe out their LP, but then Kuriboh suddenly comes in and prevents any damage that would have destroyed them.
* StoneWall: One of the most famous uses of Kuriboh is to multiply them into a massive, defensive army.
* TertiarySexualCharacteristics: Kuribon, used by a female duelist instead of a male (Luna/Ruka), has eyelashes and a red bow on its tail.
* ThemeNaming: All their names begin with "Kuri."
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Yugi's opponents almost invariably laugh when he summons Kuriboh, due to its pathetic stats. Then Yugi pulls off one of his famous combos with it and the laughter stops.
* ZergRush: Courtesy of the "Multiply" card. Sure, Kuriboh may be weak, but when Yugi forms a wall of dozens of them that replicate faster than they can be destroyed...
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Black Luster Soldier]]
!!'''Black Luster Soldier''' (''Chaos Soldier'' カオス・ソルジャー ''Kaosu Sorujā'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blackluster_5459.png]]

Yugi & Dark Yugi's answer to the likes of the Blue-Eyes, Black Luster Soldier is an extremely powerful dark knight, clad in black armor, and responding only to the Black Luster Ritual, which had never been completed before Dark Yugi did so. With stats of 3000/2500, Black Luster Soldier is easily Dark Yugi's strongest card during the early part of the series. It can combine with the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon to achieve even greater power as Dragon Master Knight.
----
* BadassNormal: Like the Blue-Eyes, Black Luster Soldier has no effect. He's just a 3000 attack point beatstick.
* {{Bishounen}}: He's quite the pretty boy under that helmet.
* BlackKnight: Clad head to toe in black and gold armor.
* CoolHelmet: Wears a knight's helmet with a long red plumage.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Another of the many examples in Yugi and Atem's deck. He's a BlackKnight with a cold expression, and an ominous sounding name, but he's ultimately one of the good guys. Oddly enough, he's an Earth-attribute monster.
* DragonRider: In a few instances he fused with Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, becoming one of the most Badass dragon riders in the history of the game (for the second time).
* EvilRedhead: Has the look, though see DarkIsNotEvil above.
* FusionDance: Can fuse with the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon to become Dragon Master Knight (5000/5000), who gains power for every dragon on the field.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Carries a shield on his opposite hand.
* PerpetualFrowner: Is never shown smiling in any appearance.
* PowerEqualsRarity: When Dark Yugi summoned him in his duel with Mai, it was the first time the card had ever been successfully summoned. ''That'''s how rare it was.
* SinisterScimitar: His WeaponOfChoice.
* SummonMagic: Comes only in response to the Black Luster Ritual.
* SuperSoldier: Of the magical variety.
* TookALevelInBadass: Believe it or not, that's actually ''Gaia the Fierce Knight'' empowered by chaos.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Celtic Guardian]]
!!'''Celtic Guardian''' (''Elf Swordsman'' エルフの剣士 ''Erufu no Kenshi'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elfswordsman_487.png]]

A mid-tier card and one of the few non-Dark Magician derivatives to see extensive screen time in the manga/anime.

----
* ADayInTheLimelight: In a sense, the Yugi-Kaiba duel on Duelist Kingdom was this for him. Instead of dying a turn after he's summoned, he gets the honor of [[OffWithHisHead beheading]] the ''Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon'' (which was by this time [[ClippedWingAngel half-dead from Yugi's Mammoth Graveyard-fusion trick]], but still).
* BadassNormal: A mid-tier card with 1400 ATK and no special effects, but still effective in some duels.
* BarbarianHero: His whole motif is that of an Elven Celtic Barbarian.
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: As Obnoxious Celtic Guard, who is an effect monster that cannot be destroyed by battle with a monster that has 1900 or more ATK. (At one point, he threw off [[PhysicalGod Shinato, King of a Higher Plane]]'s attack to buy Dark Yugi an extra turn in a truly epic fashion.)
* OurElvesAreDifferent: Celtic Guardian is an Elven warrior, and was even referred to as "Elf Swordsman" in his first anime appearance (and it's its Japanese name).
* TheWorfEffect: Celtic Guardian tends to be sent out first to gauge an opponent's strategy, and is usually destroyed first as a result. Defied in ''Anime/YuGiOhCapsuleMonsters''

[[folder:Exodia the Forbidden One]]
!! '''Exodia the Forbidden One''' (''Sealed Exodia'' 封印されしエクゾディア ''Fūinsareshi Ekuzodia'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/exodia_7048.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:''Exodia, OBLITERATE!!!'']]

A set of five cards that previously belong to Sugoroku Mutou, Yugi's grandfather. This was Dark Yugi's trump card during his duel with Seto Kaiba during Death-T, and its equivalent in the second-series anime. An ancient lord bound away, Exodia is said to have power rivaling that of the Egyptian Gods and destroyed a hundred armies in one night. In-game, the player who contains [[SealedEvilInASixPack the five pieces of Exodia]] in their hand at one time can declare an [[InstantWinCondition instant victory]], regardless of any other factors.

It has a few "alternate" forms --

[[TheUndead Exodia Necross]], Exodia resurrected from the grave. He can be summoned in this form using the Contract of the Forbidden One: all 5 of his pieces must be in the Graveyard and his Necross form must be in the player's hand. In this form, he is completely invulnerable as long as all his pieces are in the Graveyard, but he is instantly destroyed if even 1 piece is returned to the player's hand or summoned. He also gets stronger as the game goes on, gaining 500 ATK every turn;

[[ThisWasHisTrueForm Exodius The Ultimate Forbidden Lord]], Exodia's original form before being sealed away. He can be summoned with the Ultimate Ritual of the Forbidden Lord: requiring all 5 of his pieces be in a combination of the player's hand / Graveyard. Like his Necross form, he is nearly invulnerable, except in this form he can be defeated in a battle (although good luck with that!) because every time he attacks, he gets 1000 ATK for every one of his pieces that are in the Graveyard, as well as putting another piece in the Graveyard to further boost his power. Once all 5 of his pieces are in the Graveyard, his full power is restored and [[InstantWinCondition the player wins]].

[[CapturedSuperEntity Exxod, Master of the Guard]], Exodia after being sealed by the gods and his powers harnessed to create a cosmic bulwark. This form can be summoned by sacrificing a "sphinx" type monster. In this form, he has very high defense (yet isn't invulnerable to instant kill conditions), but almost no attack power....unless you Flip Summon an Earth type monster while Exxod is face up, allowing Exxod to [[ArmorPiercingAttack attack the enemy player directly for 1000 damage, regardless of defenses.]]

[[BackFromTheDead The Legendary Exodia Incarnate]], a more complete resurrection of Exodus than his Necross form. This form can be summoned by sacrificing any single one of his pieces, and (like his Exodius form) he gets a buff of 1000 ATK for every one of his pieces in the Graveyard. But he also returns pieces from the Graveyard back to the player's hand, making him an inversion to the others as he gets weaker as the game goes on.
----
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: Exodia's a giant gigas.
* ChainedByFashion: Exodia's completed form has broken cuffs on its ankles and wrists, from when it was sealed.
* DecoyProtagonist: The intro of the first season suggested Exodia would be as major an element of Yugi's deck as the likes of Dark Magician, Celtic Guardian, and so on. As he would be a major DeusExMachina and StoryBreakerPower, however, his cards were quickly disposed of when Weevil threw them off the boat on the way to Duelist Kingdom.
* FinishingMove: ''Hellfire's Rage! EXODO FLAME!'' (Exodia! Obliterate! in the dub.)
** Defied in the card game. "Obliterate!!!" (or what's translated as "Exod Flame" in Japan) is a Continuous Trap card that you want to use every turn possible in order to stall for time, with the most optimal cards to send being his pieces. While in conjunction with other cards it can make a victory much more practical, it will never be the finishing blow in its own right (and the most often way you '''do''' win with it is via gradual battle damage with Incarnate, as opposed to Exodia's inherent instant win).
* GodzillaThreshold: During the Shadow RPG, Siamun Muran summons his guardian Ka Exodia to fight Zorc Necrophades, but as Exodia takes its power from a human, it can only fight as long as the summoner and is defeated once his or her ''Ba'' gauge runs out. Since he's an old man, this ends up as the only time where Exodia is outright defeated.
* TheJuggernaut: A singular card form of him was released, named The Legendary Exodia Incarnate, which requires just a single piece of him to summon. He is completely immune to the effects of anything else, meaning the only way to remove him is to beat him in battle. This too would be a hard task as well, as he gains 1000 ATK for each piece of himself in the graveyard. Fortunately he starts at 0, so if you only have 2 or less pieces in your graveyard then he's easy pickings until you get more.
* MacGuffin: During the manga and first anime's Death-T arc. And the second series first episode.
* NoodleIncident: It's never explicitly stated what Exodia did that warranted him being chained up, although Shimon mentions that it had to do with his "incredible strength".
* NonStandardGameOver: So much so that, for a while, it was the only monster named in the official rules - its effect was ''that'' unique.
* PowerEqualsRarity: The cards are so rare that few own a complete set. This continued in the real world where ''all five pieces were some of the rarest cards of the first ever set''. Averted with later reprints, where only the head was rare.
* SetBonus: Individually? Worthless. Together? Instant win.
* SummonMagic: He's a powerful summon of Siamun Muran during the Shadow RPG, who unfortunately experiences TheWorfEffect soon after.
* TheUndead: Not Exodia itself, but Exodia Necross, which can only be summoned if all of the pieces are in the Graveyard, is definitely an example of this. Not in monster type though, as it is a Spellcaster, just like the monster's component body parts. A clue to it being undead is it's DEF stat, which is 0 like all other Zombie-Counterpart monsters.
* WhoNeedsTheirWholeBody: To an extent. While the pieces of Exodia have pathetic stats and the idea is to combine all five, they are still individual monster cards and can be used as such, say for battling--just don't expect them to find much they can kill. That said, their low stats make them easy to tutor via Sangan, and because the limbs are all classified as Normal Monsters, they can be retrieved from the grave via Dark Factory of Mass Production and Backup Soldier.
* WorfHadTheFlu: In the final arc, Zorc Necrophades defeats him, albeit with difficulty to hype up Horakhty, who shows up a few chapters/episodes later. Exodia, however, was bound to an elderly man with a bad heart at the time, and it's implied things may very well have gone differently had that not been the case.

[[folder:Blue-Eyes White Dragon]]
!! '''Blue-Eyes White Dragon''' (''Blue-Eyes White Dragon'' 青眼の白龍 ''Burūaizu Howaito Doragon'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/blueeyes_4845.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:''The embodiment of both my pride and my soul, my loyal servant! Come forth! Blue-Eyes White Dragon!'']]

Seto Kaiba's favorite monster and the strongest normal monster in the game, it's so rare that he owns the only three that were ever found in the world (he tore up the fourth one that belonged to Yugi's grandfather). Due to its attack strength of 3000, in-universe it's considered one of the strongest cards in the game, and can become even stronger when the three dragons fuse to form Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.

During the Shadow RPG, it's revealed that the Blue-Eyes White Dragon was the Ka of Kisara, a girl Priest Seto was devoted to in Ancient Egypt. Priest Akhenaden killed her, which unleashed the Blue-Eyes in her soul. Seto's feelings for Kisara are one reason why Kaiba is so devoted to the Blue-Eyes in the modern world.
----
* AmbiguousGender: Being made of the life energy (or Ba in the manga) of Kisara, one can make an argument that the Blue-Eyes White Dragon (and by extension, all of its forms) is female. Not really helping that some of its alternate forms, namely [[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Deep-Eyes_White_Dragon Deep-Eyes White Dragon]] and ''especially'' [[https://yugipedia.com/wiki/Deep_of_Blue-Eyes Deep of Blue-Eyes]], have a slender and feminine-looking physique.
* BadassNormal: It has no special effects, it's just a beatstick. But it's a ''3000'' point beatstick -- even in today's metagame, 3000 attack is enough to kill almost anything when you have support to protect it. Its Ultimate form is also bereft of effect, but with its attack at 4500 and its defense at 3800, it'll be a hell of a hard time to get rid of.
* BreathWeapon: Usually of the ShockAndAwe or HolyHandGrenade variety, depending on which variation you're asking about.
* TheDragon: To Kaiba while he was the BigBad of the Death-T arc, literally and figuratively. Anyone who wants to have a chance at beating Kaiba is going to have to deal with his Blue-Eyes sooner or later.
* DestructiveSaviour: See LightIsGood below as for why you shouldn't get near it.
* DragonRider: Paladin of White Dragon and Dragon Master Knight.
* {{Expy}}:
** The Blue-Eyes itself has several counterparts, including Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon, Legendary Dragon of White, White Night Dragon, Thunder End Dragon. And that's not counting the Blue-Eyes variants that are actually part of its archetype, like Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon, Deep-Eyes White Dragon, and Dragon Spirit of White.
** While the basic Cyber Dragon doesn't much resemble the Blue-Eyes at all, its combined form as Cyber End Dragon is basically a cross between Blue-Eyes Ultimate and Blue-Eyes Shining.
** It's now tradition for the hero's rival to have an ace monster with 3000 ATK. Crowler's Ancient Gear Golem, Chazz's Armed Dragon Level 10, Jack's Red-Dragon Archfiend, Kite's Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon, Reiji's D/D/D Doom King Armageddon (which he has three of), Aigami's Crimson Nova the Dark Cubic Lord, and Revolver's three aces; Cracking Dragon, Topologic Bomber Dragon, and Borreload Dragon.
** A powered-up form with 4500 or so ATK, possibly a combination of several copies of the original, also exist to parallel the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon: Crowler's Anicient Gear Ultimate Golem, Jack's Red Nova Dragon[[note]]3500 original, but will have 4500 at minimum due to its effect[[/note]], Kite's Neo-Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon, and Aigami's Crimson Nova Trinity the Dark Cubic Lord.
* FinishingMove: It's usually the Blue-Eyes or its Ultimate form who clinches the match for Kaiba. "Burst Stream of Destruction[=/=]White Lightning!"
* FusionDance: Fusing three regular Blue-Eyes yields the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon [[note]]which despite its impressive name has only half the combined ATK and DEF of its Dancers[[/note]]. Fusing ''that'' with Dark Luster Soldier yields Dragon Master Knight, the strongest monster available in terms of brute strength.
* LightEmUp: Attacks with massive bright blasts of energy.
* LightIsGood[=/=]LightIsNotGood: Benevolent, but highly aggressive and destructive and is used prominently by the series AntiHero. Not to mention, she has very bad breath.
* MeaningfulName: Well, it's actually a more silver-blue color than white in the anime, but you get the idea.
* MultipleHeadCase: The three headed fusions Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon and Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, and the twin-headed Twin Burst Dragon.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Or in this case, just plain badass.
* PowerEqualsRarity: Only four known copies exist, given the card's supreme power amongst monsters with no adverse effects or summoning conditions, in order to keep the card from being too widely used and dominating the game. Given that Seto Kaiba acquired 3 of the 4 copies for his own deck as part of his beatdown strategy, while his opponents have no other easily summon-able cards to rival it out of the box, yeah, that worked well. Averted in Real Life, [[{{Irony}} where everyone has at least a copy of her]].
* TheRival: Much like Kaiba's rivalry with Yugi, Blue-Eyes is a rival with Dark Magician, Shadi even saying as much when he entered the Pharaoh's mind.
* RuleOfThree: After Kaiba was done with Grandpa Mutou, there were only three Blue-Eyes left in the world. Guess who owns them all.
* SuperSpeed: In the Virtual World FillerArc, Kaiba's duel against Leicter[=/=]Daimon reveals that the Blue-Eyes White Dragon is fast enough to fly into orbit in just a few seconds.
* {{Toon}}: [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon]]. Kaiba hates this mockery of his signature monster with a passion.
* UndyingLoyalty: It's hinted that the Blue-Eyes is extremely loyal to Kaiba, with Kaiba even referring to it as his most faithful servant and embodiment of his pride. This obviously goes back to ancient times involving Kaiba's past life.
* UnknownRival: Blue-Eyes has a supposed rivalry with Red-Eyes Black Dragon, but its competition with Dark Magician is more prominent.
* YouShallNotPass: Kaiba and the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon pull one of these on Zorc Necrophades in the anime, slowing his advance long enough for Pharaoh Atem to learn his true name and bring the Egyptian Gods back into action.

[[folder:Red-Eyes Black Dragon]]
!! '''Red-Eyes Black Dragon''' (''Red-Eyes Black Dragon'' 真紅眼の黒竜 ''Reddoaizu Burakku Doragon'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/redeyes_7959.png]]

A weaker, darker counterpart to the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Red-Eyes was once Dinosaur Ryuzaki's rarest card, until he lost it to Jonouchi during the early rounds of the Duelist Kingdom contest. Red-Eyes would go onto become one of Jonouchi's signature cards throughout the Duelist Kingdom arc; temporarily lost to him during Battle City. In the anime, he reclaimed it in time for the DOMA FillerArc[[note]]''Anime/YuGiOhTheDarkSideOfDimensions'', set in the manga, also confirmed that he'd reacquired it.[[/note]] Despite its generally average stats, Red-Eyes is a versatile card, that can be combo'd with others to create more powerful creatures, like the Black Skull Dragon and Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon, to name only two.

It also had a prominent showing during ''Yu-Gi-Oh! GX'', where it was the signature card of Fubuki Tenjouin[=/=]Atticus Rhodes when he was possessed by Darkness[=/=]Nightshroud, highlighted by its new upgraded forms; Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon and Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon. Atticus initially refused to use it, asociating it with Nightshroud, but eventually modified the deck and accepted Red-Eyes as his partner.

----
* BondCreature: At the very least Jonouchi/Joey and his Red-Eyes for sure. Red-Eyes getting hurt in the Jonouchi/Joey's duel against Yugi actually caused Jonouchi/Joey physical pain. And Jonouchi/Joey started to regained consciousness after his match with Marik when Yugi summoned his Red-Eyes.
* BreathWeapon: Prefers [[CastingAShadow dark-aligned]] {{Fireballs}} to contrast Blue-Eyes' lightning/light attacks.
* DarkIsEvil: Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon and Darkness Metal Dragon are exclusively used by Nightshroud.
* DarkIsNotEvil: It's a damned creepy card, but it's used by one of the heroes throughout. Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon, and especially Black Skull Dragon are even scarier.
* EarlyBirdCameo: In the manga, there's a colored splash panel of the Monster World arc, in which the party characters seem to be battling a dragon that looks suspiciously like the Red-Eyes Black Dragon.
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: Contrary to Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes, the Red-Eyes is usually not enough to net Joey a win by itself; he has to find ways to empower it via Dragon Nails, Metalmorph, a FusionDance, or some other effect to grant it a new form.
* {{Expy}}: Of Bahamut from ''Franchise/FinalFantasy''. This is especially apparent as Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon's attack in the Japanese version is called ''Dark Megaflare''.
* FinishingMove: While some duelists, like Kaiba and the first Ghoul have been able to ignore it, the appearance of Jonouhci's Red-Eyes or worse yet, one of its alternate forms, generally signals that his opponent is about to be well and truly screwed. Even though Kozuka destroyed it, it crippled his strategy.
* {{Foil}}: To the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, as their names reflect. The two have several parallel support cards too, such as "Paladin of White Dragon" and "Knight of Dark Dragon".
* FusionDance: Can perform one with Daemon's Summon/Summoned Skull (Black Skull Dragon) or Meteor Dragon (Meteor Black Dragon). Both are ''very'' powerful (3200/2500 and 3500/3000 to be precise). Later in the DOMA FillerArc, it combines with the Aura Armor to fuse with Jonouchi himself, creating Lord of the Red (2400/2000), which can destroy every monster on the field, as soon as two magic cards are played.
* ILoveNuclearPower: Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon attacks with a fusion blast.
* MagikarpPower: As the [[NoExportForYou Japanese-only]] first anime movie said, the Blue-Eyes has more raw power (compare 3000 attack points to Red Eyes with 2400), but Red-Eyes has many, many evolved forms that give it higher versatility.[[note]]To name a few, [[MechanicalMonster Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon]], [[CastingAShadow Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon]], [[{{Kaiju}} Meteor Black Dragon]], [[OurDemonsAreDifferent B. Skull Dragon]], [[PoweredArmor Lord of the Red]]...and that's not even getting into the wealth of forms in the TCG.[[/note]]
* MeaningfulName: It's a black dragon with red eyes. Go figure.
* MechanicalMonster: Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon, a huge mechanical dragon that attacks with a fusion blast. Jonouchi first used it against Bandit Keith, by stealing Keith's Metalmorph card; he later added Metalmorph to his own deck, using the Black Metal Dragon during the DOMA FillerArc.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: As Black Skull Dragon, a Fiend/Dragon combo with 3200 ATK points.
* PowerEqualsRarity: Played with. In-show it's said to be ultra-rare, and it is certainly ''treated'' like an incredibly powerful card, despite its average stats. However, its ability to combine with other cards makes it much more useful than it would be otherwise, hence the rarity.
* PoweredArmor: Its Lord of the Red form is a suit of dragon-themed mechanical armor over a human host.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Well, yeah, it's right there in the name. It's not the most immediately dangerous card in the game, but has enough support cards to make it a credible threat.
* TheRival: Is often treated as Blue-Eyes' rival by the fandom. Given the fact that the Solid Vision hologram roars in triumph when Yugi uses it to take down one of Kaiba's Blue-Eyes, this may well be justified.
* RobotMe: Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon, a robotic version of the monster that is created by equipping it with Metalmorph.
* TookALevelInBadass: As Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon, Black Skull Dragon, or any of its other alternate forms.

[[folder:Flame Swordsman]]
!! '''Flame Swordsman''' (''Flame Swordsman'' 炎の剣士 ''Honō no Kenshi'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/flame_swordsman.jpg]]
A card Jonouchi uses in the Duelist Kingdom arc of the manga. In the anime, it's one of Jounouchi's signature cards and his alleged favorite - Flame Swordsman has a history of getting his owner out of jams. A versatile card that's easy to support, and can combine with various others for interesting effects, it's exceptionally useful to him during the Duelist Kingdom arc and the anime's Virtual World. During the DOMA anime arc, Jonouchi adds its [[PaletteSwap twin]], Blue Flame Swordsman to his arsenal.

----
* AwesomeButImpractical: After the Duelist Kingdom arc ends in the manga and the new "Expert Rules" take effect, Flame Swordsman is PutOnABus due to being a five-star monster with low stats and no effect, and only reappears in a major role during the anime's Virtual Nightmare FillerArc as Jonouchi's Deck Master, and the DOMA Filler where Joey uses a retrained version known as ''Blue Flame Swordsman'' that automatically and freely summons a regular Flame Swordsman when destroyed. He sure does ''look'' awesome though.
* BashBrothers: With the Dark Magician during the Duelist Kingdom arc, they're about as close as Yugi and Jonouchi. You could make a case for Flame Swordsman and Blue Flame Swordsman as well.
* {{BFS}}: Carries a sword that's almost as big as he is.
* CoolHelmet: Wears a large spiked helmet.
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: He's a swordsman with a FlamingSword. Blue Flame Swordsman is the same guy, colored blue.
* FlamingSword: How did you not get that from the name?
* FusionDance: Is a fusion card in the regular game (between Flame Manipulator and Masaki-The Legendary Swordsman), and can fuse himself with Dark Magician to create Black Flare Knight, a MagicKnight with only 2200 attack, but a variety of interesting effects.
* MagicKnight: Is one himself, and can become a stronger one by fusing with Dark Magician, creating Dark Flare Knight.
* OutOfFocus: Despite being one of the more iconic monsters in the early eras, Flame Swordsman hardly ever gets any spotlight unlike any of Jonouchi's other ace monsters like Red-Eyes Black Dragon and Gearfried The Iron Knight.
* PaletteSwap: Blue Flame Swordsman, who summons a regular Flame Swordsman to the field when it's destroyed.
* PlayingWithFire: This should surprise no one. One of the creatures used to make him is actually called "Flame Manipulator."
* PowerGlows: Turns bright gold while under the influence of the Burning Soul Sword Magic Card.
* PowerUp: Salamandra can actually be played on any FIRE monster, but you'd never know that from how Jonouchi uses it. Same goes for Burning Soul Sword.
* StatusBuff: His Deck Master ability in anime filler allows him to decrease his own ATK in order to increase the ATK of another Warrior-type monster by the same amount.
* SwordAndSorcerer: Often plays the "Sword" to Yugi's Dark Magician's "Sorcerer".
* TechnicolourFire: Flame Swordsman's flames are the same orange color as his outfit. Blue Flame Swordsman's are, unsurprisingly, Blue.

[[folder:Egyptian God Cards]]
!! '''Egyptian God Cards''' (''Three Legendary Gods'' 三幻神 ''Sangenshin'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/egyptian_god_cards.jpg]]
The Egyptian God Cards are the three strongest cards in the game, based on ancient divine monsters only the Pharaoh could command. Together they are the secret to accessing the Memory World where the Pharaoh's lost memories can be restored, and his destiny realized. They are Obelisk the Tormentor ("The God of Obelisk" of "Giant God Soldier of Obelisk"), Slifer the Sky Dragon ("Saint Dragon - The God of Osiris" or "Sky Dragon of Osiris") and the Winged Dragon of Ra ("The Sun of God Dragon" or "Winged God Dragon of Ra").

During Battle City, Yugi/Dark Yugi wielded Slifer, Seto Kaiba held Obelisk, and Marik Ishtar held the Winged Dragon of Ra. Because of the tournament's ante rule, after winning Yugi obtained all three God Cards, using them in ''Pyramid of Light'' and later arcs.

----
* AdaptationalWimp:
** Downplayed for Ra in the anime. The manga version of Ra is even ''[[UpToEleven more]]'' broken. In the anime, Marik needed to save Ra from Obelisk's infinite attack points ability via the Quick-Play Spell Card Class System. In the manga, Ra outright [[NoSell no-sold]] it, because of being higher in the hierarchy of Egyptian Gods.
** The legal version of Ra in the actual card game is also by far the weakest Egyptian God, thanks to its starting ATK/DEF being 0 instead of the total stats of its sacrifices (making its "pay LP until you have 100 left" mandatory if you want to use it for any attacking or defending), and its immunity to Spells and Traps being removed. A BalanceBuff was later made by releasing its Sphere Mode and Phoenix Mode as separate cards, also various Spell/Trap cards meant to support him which supply the cut effects.
* AmbiguousGender: Despite all three lacking feminine traits, their combined form is Holactie the Creator of Light, a female monster god created by the Pharaoh. Even stranger is that both Ra and Osiris[=/=]Slifer were named after male gods.
* BerserkButton: They will not tolerate ''any'' duelists who attempts to summon a counterfeit version of the card and will deliver a BoltOfDivineRetribution to anyone who do so.
* BigDamnHeroes: They have a habit of being summoned when their duelist is in trouble, bar the few times where there was a duel of the gods.
* BoltOfDivineRetribution: Don't try to use a God Card unless you're qualified to use them via Ancient Egyptian heritage, and ''definitely'' don't try to use a counterfeit version of a God Card. They tend to response by invoking this trope on the perpetrator.
* BreathWeapon: "[[PlayingWithFire Blaze Cannon]]" for Ra and "[[ShockAndAwe Thunder Force]]" for Slifer.
* BroughtDownToNormal: The three eventually all got released in the real world with their abilities nerfed to make them virtually unplayable in a competetive environment.
* TheBrute[=/=]TheBigGuy: While Ra and Slifer have various special abilities and gimmicks to their Attack and Defense scores that require strategy to make work[[note]]Ra's Attack is equal to the Attack of the monsters Tributed to summon it, while Slifer has 1000x Attack and Defense for each card in your hand[[/note]], Obelisk's effect is to automatically inflict 4000 damage for two tributes (in the anime, this is a OneHitKO), and his Attack and Defense are set at 4000. Essentially, he's just a giant beatstick.
** In the series, however, Obelisk proves himself to be the BoringButPractical one of the trio, not requiring any special conditions to be strong, and with a special ability that cannot backfire (unlike Slifer's, whose ability works against it more often than not) nor requires steep Life Point investments. These traits add up such that when Yugi finally was able to summon all three Egyptian Gods against Anubis in the movie, only Obelisk had the strength to win the duel (with Yugi lacking the cards and life to power the others), and in Yugioh R, it was Obelisk, and not Ra, that defeated The Wicked Avatar, even though the Avatar was an EvilKnockoff of Ra (Although Ra could theoretically defeat Avatar by assuming its Phoenix form and using its effect to destroy any monster ignoring its protections by paying 1000 LP).
* CastFromHitPoints: Ra lets the user give up Life Points to empower it in different ways.
* CharacterTiers: [[InvokedTrope Invoked]] in-universe within themselves - Slifer and Obelisk comprise the lower tier, while Ra is on top.
* ChromaticArrangement: Ra is yellow, Slifer is red, Obelisk is blue.
* ContractualBossImmunity: Depending on which episodes you watch, the God Cards are either completely immune to card effects, or card effects only work on them for a single turn. Either way, once they hit the field the only way to get rid of them is to defeat them in a straight-up battle. This is of course to stop them from being easily stopped with card effects.
** To be specific (mainly for their appearence in manga): They're unaffected by monster and Trap effects, except for monsters with same/higher Hierarchy for the former and magical Traps (like ''Spell''binding Circle) for the latter (in the manga, attacks and effects are divided into physical and magical a la RPG). Spell card effects that removes them from the field (destroy, banish, etc) or changes their control doesn't work either. They also cannot be Tributed by opponent. Any effect they aren't immune to only last for a turn to them. The opponent also cannot equip cards to them. Pretty much the only way to not resort to battle is to use their own effects against them or negate their effects (though this latter one varies): the former flaw Ishizu tried to exploit with a Trap that would do just that, before Kaiba decided [[ScrewDestiny not to do that]].
** The anime veers more on StrongAsTheyNeedToBe category. Their effects mostly work the same, but due to anime trying to expand the duels and/or extend the God cards faceoff, sometimes there are inconsistent moments with their established effects like The Gods being banished by Pyramid of Light and Ra being destroyed by Ragnarok despite Obelisk being established as immune to Mirror Force before, Obelisk being unable to destroy Slifer with its effect yet Slifer destroyed Ra (which has no Hierarchy immunity in anime) moment with its effect, Obelisk being negated by Ground Erosion where in ''Dark Side of Dimensions'' (manga continuity) Obelisk [[NoSell no-sold]] Cubic Mandala.
* DefeatingTheUndefeatable: Ra is made out to be all but unstoppable, making Dark Yugi's defeat of it this.
* TheDogBitesBack: In ''GX'', Franz successfully uses a copy of Ra and binds it to his will thanks to a card specifically designed to control it, something that causes Ra a lot of pain. When Jaden turns Ra's effects against it to remove it from Franz's field, Ra willingly lets itself be summoned to Jaden's field, in spite of his lack of Egyptian heritage or ability to read the Hieratic Text, so it can get back at Franz.
* FaceFramedInShadow: While its card was seen regularly, before Dark Marik summoned it against Mai, Ra was always shown shadowed or only seen from a distance to obscure the details of its appearance. The fake one was covered in light and flame.
* FinalBoss: Defeating Ra becomes an integral part of defeating Dark Marik in his Shadow Games, and taking it down ultimately results in his death and Dark Yugi's victory.
* FusionDance: Whenever Dark Marik feeds his life points into Ra, his body, lacking one hand to keep holding his cards and Duel Disk, and with a gaping hole where his eye ought to be, fuses with Ra, leaking black smoke. This is later turned against him, when losing Ra costs him control of his body to the real Marik.
* HoistByTheirOwnPetard: This tends to be one of the best ways to take them down. Slifer's second mouth is a [[PowerIncontinence mandatory effect]], which both Yami Yugi and Yugi (only in anime) take advantage of, and Ishizu's plan to defeat Obelisk involved merging Blast Held by a Tribute into it. In a similar manner, Ra's ability to merge with the player was exploited to free the original Marik from Yami Marik.
* InfinityPlusOneSword: Designed to be this. However, due to the fact that the god cards have CharacterTiers within themselves, Obelisk and Slifer are more like [[InfinityMinusOneSword Infinity-1 Swords]] to Ra's InfinityPlusOneSword.
* LargeAndInCharge: They are ''massive'' cards; Obelisk fills the testing room when Kaiba first summons him, and when Dark Yugi summons Slifer it coils around the airship the duel is taking place on.
* MechanicalMonster: Ra is a huge robotic-looking dragon.
* MegatonPunch: Unlike Ra and Slifer, Obelisk prefers attacking with his building sized fist.
* NewPowersAsThePlotDemands: Each time that Ra gains a new power it helps Dark Marik win a Shadow Game he otherwise could not. It ''is'' mentioned that it has three powers early on, but not what they are.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: Ra is an Ancient Egyptian robotic griffon-dragon that turns into a phoenix.
* OffModel: While all of the Gods have had their fair share, Ra gets the worst of it in the anime, largely due to its head.
* OminousLatinChanting: Accompanies their summonings in the dub.
* OnlyTheChosenMayWield: Only those chosen by the Millennium Items can control the Gods. Others who try to use them find them useless at best, and [[BoltOfDivineRetribution suffer the wrath of the Gods at worst]]. In the anime, the power of the Seal of Orichalcos can somewhat mitigate this, allowing Gurimo to control Obelisk, but even then he was suffering from constant dizziness as long as Obelisk was on the field. In ''GX'', Mound of the Bound Creator is able to let Franz bind a Ra copy and prevent it from lashing out against him, though this is mostly because the Mound was specifically designed to restrain a God Card.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Ra is a mechanical griffon, who becomes a phoenix.
* ThePhoenix: Ra's alternate form. It turns into flames, and destroys everything on the field.
* PhysicalGod: All of them are gods in Duel Monster form.
* PurposelyOverpowered: Specifically designed to be the strongest cards in the game.
* SummonMagic: In the Shadow RPG, Pharaoh Atem needs to give up a large amount of ''ba'' in his ''ba'' gauge to summon them.
* SupernormalBindings: The Field Spell Card Mound of the Bound Creator acts as this for Ra, as Franz used it to restrain Ra and be able to use its power without [[BoltOfDivineRetribution suffering its wrath]] for not being [[OnlyTheChosenMayWield chosen by it]].
* SuperpowerLottery: While all three God Cards have powerful abilities, neither Slifer nor Obelisk can hold a candle to Ra; for that matter, after 20 years of a constantly evolving meta-game, no card is quite so complex as Ra, with only Supreme King Z-ARC (in the anime) coming anywhere close. Presumably, it's real-life card was split into three different forms because approximating ''all'' of its effects on one card would make the text too small to read (and the real life cards ''still'' don't include all of Ra's effects, until more Spell/Trap cards each containing parts of Ra's missing anime and manga effects are released to support him). It's powers are as follows:
** When Summoned without reciting the chant first, Ra appears in Sphere Mode (with 0 ATK and DEF in the TCG/OCG). It cannot attack or be attacked, and the first duelist to recite the chant to unlock it in Battle Mode will take control of it.
** In Battle Mode, Ra's ATK and DEF is equal to the combined ATK and DEF of the three monsters Tributed to summon it. If summoned without Tribute, its ATK is 0.
** A duelist can Tribute a monster on either player's turn to increase Ra's ATK and DEF by that monster's ATK and DEF.
** When Special Summoned from the Graveyard, a duelist can pay Life Points on either player's turn, reducing their own Life Points to 1 to increase Ra's ATK by the amount paid. If this is done, Ra is treated as a Fusion Monster fused from Ra and its controller, in which when De-Fusion targets Ra, the controller gains LP equal to Ra's ATK, then Ra's ATK and DEF are reduced to 0.
** When Special Summoned from the Graveyard, Ra can transform into Phoenix Mode. In Phoenix Mode, Ra is immune to destruction by battle or card effects, can force an opponent's monster to attack it, and the user can pay 1000 Life Points to destroy one monster on the field, ignoring any kinds of protection that monster have.
** This is also all in addition to the standard God Card effects of needing three Tributes to Tribute Summon, if Special Summoned from the Graveyard Ra goes back to the Graveyard at the end of the turn, and it has the ContractualBossImmunity listed above.
** When Special Summoned from the Graveyard, it can also attack regardless of the condition and its attacks cannot be negated; in the manga, the Battle City finals introduced a rule that prevented Special Summoned monsters from attacking in the turn they were summoned.
** AdaptedOut from the manga, Ra has higher hierarchy than Obelisk and Slifer, which allows it to NoSell their attacks and reduce the battle damage to 0.
* TopGod: Ra is based on the chief of the [[Myth/EgyptianMythology Egyptian gods]] and is both the strongest of the group and the strongest single card in the game.
* TheWorfEffect:
** In the manga, Obelisk's Soul Energy MAX effect, which made Obelisk's ATK infnity, served to cement Ra's position as the TopGod in which Ra [[NoSell no-sold]] the attack, being higher in the hierarchy of Egyptian Gods.
** Interesting enough, after Atem got his hands on them, this trope ended up being applied to every single one of the Egyptian God Cards, though Obelisk had it in a lesser extent. Almost every attempts to summon Slifer and Ra ended up in failure in one way or another. Obelisk, on the other hand, ended up being Atem's most used God card, being the one that got most of the focus against Dark Marik (yet it still suffered a Worf Effect against Ra as mentioned above), winning against 2 primary villain on stories set after Battle City, and being the first God card to be summoned in the Ceremonial Duel against Yugi, and in the manga, the only one summoned properly.
** In the ''Pyramid of Light'' movie, Kaiba forces Yugi to Summon all of them early on in their duel, and then uses the epynomous Trap Card to banish them with ridiculous ease.
** Obelisk, and quite possibly all three of them during the Ceremonial Duel. By the time of the Ceremonial Duel, Yugi figured out that [[AwesomeButImpractical the Egyptian God Cards simply requires too much sacrifice to be used together]] which is what leads into the Monster Reborn God card strategy that is overly used by the end of Battle City (and that unlike in the real game, in manga, the original source, monsters cannot attack the turn they are Special Summoned, and all Gods effects count as attack, which means Special Summoned Gods can neither attack nor use its effects with the exception of Ra, making Special Summon effects wasted on them unless used on defense like Atem attempted to). In the anime, this turns out to be unfounded since Atem ended up summoning all 3 of them. In the manga this is proven true, as Atem ended up only summoning Obelisk. Regardless of continuity, Yugi proceed to dismantle the god cards, while shutting down the the Monster Reborn God card strategy out of the game.

[[folder:The Seal of Orichalcos]]
!! '''The Seal of Orichalcos''' (''Barrier of Oreichalcos'' オレイカルコスの結界 ''Oreikarukosu no Kekkai'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/seal_of_orichalcos.png]]
The card that the anime-only DOMA arc centers around, it originates from Atlantis, where the Orichalcos was a mineral that lead the society to great technology achievements, but eventually they became too corrupt and destroyed themselves.
-----
* AsLongAsThereIsEvil: Dartz stated that the Great Leviathan, and by extension the Seal, will exist as long as there is evil within mankind, and the Seal is only able to take the souls of the impure, as seen when Raphael was spared because all the darkness in his heart at the time was dissipated. The only reason the Seal got to him was because Dartz made him filled with anger and despair with showing him his family's deaths.
* BilingualBonus: The text around the seal is Enochian. It spells out "Oreichalcos".
* BroughtDownToNormal: The real-life card is, understandably, much less powerful than the horribly broken anime version, which was completely immune to removal effects (the real version just makes it immune to destruction once per turn)[[labelnote:*]]however, [[WordOfGod Konami claimed that the anime Seal has the real-life "can't be destroyed once per turn" effect and that Grimo was just a lying bastard]]; note that nobody ever tried destroying the Seal again after Yugi Dust Tornadoed Grimo's one and failed[[/labelnote]] and let you play monsters in your Spell and Trap Zone where they can't be attacked if you control a monster in a Monster Zone (the real version just prevents your opponent from attacking all but your highest-ATK monster; justified in that bringing the exact same effect into real life means that rulings would get very messy, very quickly).
* EqualOpportunityEvil: '''''Anyone''''' can become a victim of the Seal, even those who serve it loyally. No wonder Dartz has such a broken deck.
* GreaterScopeVillain: Of the anime-only Doma arc. Dartz is the main threat, but he was corrupted by the Orichalcos.
* GreenRocks: The users carry these, "Orichalcos stones".
* InstantRunes: Whenever the card is played, a massive rune of a six-pointed star surrounded by Enochian. The Seal appears on the forehead of the duelist who played it and any monster they control.
* {{Leitmotif}}: A [[http://youtu.be/y0_up7G34ak very dramatic one]] as soon as the card is played.
* MarkOfTheBeast: What the Orichalchos and it's corresponding artifacts boil down to, they are the conceptually crystallized essence of their [[AncientEvil malevolent god beasts]] foul power often appearing as more than just shiny rocks and a magic circle. Its influence can twist anybody's demeanor [[TheCorruption turning a pure heart into a dark one]] by instilling and feeding off of negative intent, a few of Domino cities resident police bear the mark in a literal while under its influence.
* MindRape[=/=]PainfulTransformation: Dark Magician and Guardian Eatos both are in severe agony when they are summoned with this card in play, implying that monsters with sufficient willpower will undergo mental stress as the Seal of Orichalcos takes over them.
* PurposelyOverpowered: Let's count the ways: Can't be destroyed by anything, gives a 500 ATK boost to all of the user's monsters, lets them use their Spell and Trap zones to summon monsters while protecting them from attack until the front row is empty, and [[BreadEggsMilkSquick takes the soul of whoever loses the duel]]. And if that wasn't overpowered enough, Dartz has even ''more'' powerful versions of the Seal.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Anyone who uses the Orichalcos gains a red tint to their eyes. Except for Dartz, who is so corrupted one of his eyes is Orichalcos green.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Is spelled "Oreichalcos" on the Japanese version of the card, and that is what the Enochian cipher spells out as well.
* YourSoulIsMine: Does the Just The Soul variant to anyone who loses while it's in play. Funnily enough, the pre-nerf real-version of the card keeps the effect in its texts, good luck getting anyone's soul with the card though.

[[folder:The Legendary Dragons]]
!! '''The Legendary Dragons''' (''Legendary Dragon'' 伝説の竜 ''Densetsu no Ryū'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/legendary_dragon.png]]
A trio of mysterious and powerful cards featured in the anime-only Doma arc, the dragons are sealed in the form of ice statues in another dimension, which can only be released when TheChosenOne of the respective dragon draws a sword from the ice. The dragons consist of The Eye of Timaeus, The Fang of Critias, and The Claw of Hermos, and each can combine with a certain other type of card to create new cards. In truth, the dragons are a trio of knights who fought against Dartz and the Orichalcos in the past, only to be transformed into their dragon forms and sealed away. They are able to regain their true forms through the Legend of Heart card created by Pegasus.

----
* BalefulPolymorph: How they became dragons in the first place.
* EquippableAlly: Hermos becomes an Equip card when combined with another monster.
* FusionDance: Their cards work by combining with other cards. Timaeus combines with monsters to make a monster, Critias combines with Trap Cards to make a monster, and Hermos combines with monsters to make an Equip Spell[[note]]in the real-life game, Hermos's fusions are Fusion Monsters which immediately equip themselves onto other monsters upon being summoned[[/note]]. In their true forms, the three can combine with each other to form Timaeus the Knight of Destiny.
* KnightInShiningArmor: Their true forms.
* MutuallyExclusivePowerups: As the Pharaoh discovers, attempting to power them up with the Orichalcos breaks the fusion and removes the dragon from play. This makes sense, as they are opposing forces. On the other hand, he can use two of the dragons at once with no problems.
* NewPowersAsThePlotDemands: They appear in their users' decks after being unsealed (In two cases and ironically NOT Yugi's, this happened in the middle of a duel) and have wildly different effects depending on how they are used. On the other hand, this means there is no way to research their effects beforehand, and using them effectively is a matter of guesswork, leading to some entertaining, yet flawed (though still effective) hijinks the first time Joey used one.
* OnlyTheChosenMayWield: Only Yugi and the Pharaoh, Kaiba, and Joey were able to unseal the dragons, and only they can use them. Yugi doesn't get the chance to, it is implied that Mai tried and failed to use Hermos in an offscreen duel, and the Pharaoh [[TakeUpMySword turns out to be able to use all of them.]] When the Pharaoh gave into temptation and played the Seal of Orichalcos, Timaeus disappeared, and continued to do so every time he tried to play it until he truly repented.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: They used to be humans.
* ThemeNaming: The three are named after Plato's dialogues concerning Atlantis.

[[folder:Elemental Heroes]]
!! '''Elemental Heroes''' (''E-HERO'' エレメンタルヒーロー ''Erementaru Hīrō'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elemental_heroes.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:The Original Five(Clockwise from the top:Clayman, Avian, Burstinatrix, Bubbleman and Sparkman)]]
The Elemental Heroes form Jaden Yuki's core deck theme revolving around low-level monsters based on comic book superheroes, they can fuse together and use support cards to perform powerful combos.

As part of Jaden's fall to darkness in Season 3, his deck is corrupted, giving him darker alternate artworks for the base Elemental Heroes and entirely replacing their Fusions with darker Evil Hero monsters, who can only be summoned with Dark Fusion. The Evil Heroes sacrifice the flexibility of the Elemental Heroes (specifically by requiring a specific Fusion card) in exchange for more raw power in the form of stronger effects compared to their counterparts.

In the Manga Jaden still uses an Elemental Hero Deck, but the Elemental Heroes he uses are completely different from the Anime and can even be considered a different kind. While they function mostly the way they fuse is mostly different since most Fusion Monsters don't need specific heroes to fuse with, but instead you only need one Hero monster and a monster with the Attribute needed to fuse with. They also were originally used by his mentor and hero Koyo Hibiki before his coma.
----
!!!Tropes associated with Anime Elemental Heroes:
* AbsurdlySharpBlade: Bladedge, who has the piercing battle damage effect.
* AbsurdlyCoolCity: Skyscraper and Skyscraper 2 are right out of comic book settings.
* BarbarianHero: Wildheart is a shirtless hero who fights with a boomerang.
* BatSignal: Hero Signal projects a signal to the sky to call them out.
* BigDamnHero: It's commonly joked that Elemental Hero Bubbleman is Jaden's true ace card because of its tendency to act as this trope. Since Bubbleman has an effect to draw 2 cards when Jaden has an empty field (and can be Special Summoned from the hand when Jaden has no other cards in his hand), it is used a lot to increase the card count for the duel, saving Jaden from a pinch in the process. Often, this is paired with cards such as Pot of Greed, Graceful Charity, and Fifth Hope that allows Jaden to draw 2 more cards to further save him from a bad situation.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: Bladedge fights with arm blades.
* DeathActivatedSuperpower: Necroshade can summon a high leveled Hero without a sacrifice if it's in the graveyard. Also, [[TakingYouWithMe Darkbright destroys an opponent's monster when it's destroyed itself.]]
* EqualOpportunityEvil: Inverted. The heroic Elemental Heroes are willing to involve men (Avian and Sparkman), women (Burstinatrix), children (Hero Kid), dogs (Wroughtweiler), mutants (Clayman), outer-space aliens (Neos), and even undead guys (Necroshade) into their ranks. The Evil Heroes, on the other hand, are only composed of a handful of members and have far fewer fusion monsters than the Elemental Heroes.
* EvilCounterpart: Most of the Evil Heroes, specifically:
** Evil Hero Inferno Wing to Elemental Hero Flame Wingman
** Evil Hero Lightning Golem to Elemental Hero Thunder Giant
** Evil Hero Wild Cyclone to Elemental Hero Wild Wingman
** Evil Hero Infernal Sniper to Elemental Hero Rampart Blaster
** Evil Hero Malicious Edge to Elemental Hero Bladedge
* FallenHero: Evil Heroes are, like Judai as the Supreme King, heroes that gave into darkness for greater power.
* FeatherFlechettes: Avian attacks by shooting feathers.
* FusionDance: Their key strength, almost any two heroes can fuse together, so Judai always has plenty of options when it's time to fuse.
* GatlingGood: Rampart Blaster is armed with an ArmCannon gatling gun.
* HeroesFightBarehanded: Elemental Hero Neos. He may be the most popular, powerful, and heroic of Judai/Jaden's monsters.
* MagikarpPower: Without their support cards or Fusion cards the individual heroes are pretty weak. But once you get the cards you need for a combo or a Fusion, watch out.
* ShadowArchetype: The evil heroes to the elemental heroes, especially in playstyle. In comparison; the Elemental Heroes have far more support and members than the Evil Heroes. However, the few options Evil heroes Have, '''work'''. To compare: Elemental Hero Thunder Giant requires a discard cost and the monster to be weaker than the thunder giant for his effect to destroy a face-up monster. Evil Hero Lighting Golem (Thunder Giant's counterpart) just requires the player to choose which monster dies and the monster dies. Elemental Heroes also have countless ways to fusion summon and what to fusion summon into, whereas the Evil Heroes have two fusion methods and far fewer fusion monster to summon from.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Burstinatrix was the only female member at first (the original version of her card even says so) until more female members were added later. (They never appeared in the anime, however, but did appear in the manga.)
* TeamPet: Wroughtweiler is the dog of the team.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Necroshade, the sole Main Deck DARK-Attribute Elemental Hero in the anime.

!!!Tropes associated with the Manga Elemental Heroes:

* DarkIsNotEvil: Shadow Mist and Escuridao are DARK-Attribute and look very menacing, but they are just as heroic as the other heroes.
* {{Foil}}: Towards the anime Elemental Hero cards.
** The Anime Heroes have many spell or trap cards that can only affect specific Heroes. The Manga Heroes by comparison only have a few cards that target specific Hero Monsters.
** They both concentrate on Fusion, but the Anime Heroes need specific Fusion Materials, this causes the Anime Heroes to have a lot of Fusion Monsters and many look fusion of the base heroes. The Manga Heroes don't need specific Fusion Materials except for Terra Firma, but in exchange for that there are less Fusion Monsters and the they also look more like there own independent Monsters instead of looking like actual fusions between the base heroes.
* FusionDance: Just like in the anime their main strength comes from fusion, but unlike the anime their Fusion Materials are less specific except for Terra Firma and Inferno in real life.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Defied unlike the anime, in the main deck there are three female Elemental Heroes, Lady Heat, Knospe and her evolution Poison Rose.
* TookALevelInBadass: Knospe on her own is a Level 3 Monster with 600 ATK, but with Rose Bud, she becomes the Level 6 Monster, Poison Rose, with 1900 ATK and an enhanced effect of Knospe.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/neo_spacians_0.png]]
An archetype based on cards Judai[=/=]Jaden designed as a child, they were sent into space on a time capsule and infused with cosmic energy, turning them into animal-themed superheroes. They consist of the six base Neo-Spacians, Elemental Hero Neos, and some other non Neo-Spacian cards that still fit the general theme/idea, like Rallis the Star Bird.
----
* AlienAnimals: The Neo-Spacians each resemble an animal or [[PlantAliens fungi in Glow Moss's case.]]
* AliensSpeakingEnglish: The Neo Spacians speak perfect English when Judai finds them.
* AllYourPowersCombined: God Neos can use all the effects of the Neo Spacians.
* AmbiguousGender: The decidedly feminine appearance of Twinkle Moss implies that Glow Moss is female. The other Neo Spacians all have very masculine voices. With all of them though, their physical appearance other than Glow Moss doesn't indicate a gender.
* BatSignal: N-Signal calls more of them out with a beam of light to signal them.
* CameFromTheSky: These cards fell from space on a Kaiba corp satellite while Jaden was on a boat in the middle of the ocean.
* ChildhoodFriends: The Neo Spacians were cards that Jaden drew when he was a child and were sent into space to receive their powers.
* EnergyWeapon: Neos Energy lets Neos wield one of these.
* FieldPowerEffect: Neo Space boosts a Neos monster's attack and allows it to remain on the field.
* {{Fireballs}}: Magma Neos attacks with a giant fireball called Meteor Meltdown.
* FusionDance: Contact Fusion, a unique method of fusing not needing a Fusion-type card to initiate.
* HourOfPower: A Neos fusion monster only stays on the field for 1 turn before returning to the deck. Unless, a Neo Space card is present on the field.
* InnocentAliens: The Neo Spacians are Jaden's [[BondCreatures friends]] and originally [[TheChosenOne sought him out so he could defeat]] the 2nd season's BigBad.
* KnightTemplar: Neos in episode 136. This wasn't included in the dub.
--> Neos: Judai the die has already been cast. At a point like this, it's the fate of a duelist to exhaust their reserves in order to gain victory.
* MrExposition: Aqua Dolphin in season 2 exists to explain to Judai what the Neo Spacians are.
* MyMasterRightOrWrong: The Neo Spacians are perfectly willing to support Jaden using the Supreme King's powers to stop Yubel.
* NamedAfterTheirPlanet: They're heroes named for the region of space they were born in.
* PhysicalGod: God Neos, who can use any Hero or Neo Spacian monster effect from the graveyard.
* RazorWind: How Air Neos attacks.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Glow Moss, if you take Twinkle Moss' figure as an indication that Glow Moss is female.
* SpiritAdvisor: Of all the Neo Spacians, Aqua Dolphin fits this trope the most. He is the first Neo Spacian that Jaden meets and provides emotional support in times of need. Like the time Jaden couldn't see his cards after losing to Aster, and Aqua Dolphin introduces him to his new deck and restores his love of dueling. Also, encouraging Jaden to use Polymerization in the last duel with Yubel.
* SpotlightStealingSquad: Once Judai picks them up in Season 2 most of his victories in the rest of the series come about due to a Neo-Spacian, Neos, or some fusion of the two.
* StarPower: The Neo Spacians obtained their powers by being sent into space.
* SuperEmpowering: The Common Soul card can summon a Neo Spacian and have it's Attack points added to another monster.
* [[TalkingAnimal Talking Animals]]: All the Neo Spacians can speak and have different personalities.
* ThisIsADrill: Grand Mole has a drill for its weapon.
* UndyingLoyalty: They remain by Judai's side no matter what.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting / PowerCopying: Dark Panther can transform into and copy the effects of an opponent's monster.
* WolverineClaws: Storm Neos has a pair.
* YinYangBomb: Chaos Neos is Neos fused with the Dark-Attribute Dark Panther and Light-attribute Glow Moss.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cyber_dragons.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Their leaders Cyber End Dragon and Cyberdark Dragon]]
Ryo/Zane's key cards, he uses the Cyber Dragons in Season 1, performing various combos with them to quickly summon Cyber End Dragon for a OneHitKO. In the second season he undergoes a FaceHeelTurn and begins to use the Cyberdarks, dark Cyber Dragons that utilize normal Dragon-type monsters to power up. In Seasons 3 and 4 he combines the two archetypes and utilizes both with deadly efficiency. In the manga, Ryo uses different types of "Cyber" monsters other than Cyber Dragon, but they still have draconian themes to them.
----
* AnimalMecha: They're all based on dragons.
* ArmorPiercingAttack: Cyberdark Horn and Cyber End Dragon can inflict Piercing Damage.
* CombiningMecha: Cyberdark Dragon gets its wings from "Cyberdark Edge", its body from "Cyberdark Keel", and its horns from "Cyberdark Horn".
* DarkIsEvil[=/=]LightIsGood: Ryo is a good guy when using Cyber Dragon, but following his FaceHeelTurn he uses the Cyberdarks to fit his new persona.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Once Ryo turns back to good he still uses the Cyberdarks. However, the only usage he makes of the Cyber Dragons while evil is as fodder to power up the Cyberdarks, so LightIsNotGood is mostly averted.
* DragonsUpTheYinYang: Played straight as can be with the Cyber Dragons and Cyberdarks representing the two halves of the symbol.
* EquippableAlly: The specialty of the Cyberdarks is to equip Dragon-type monsters to themselves to power up.
* EvilCounterpart: The Cyberdarks to the Cyber Dragons.
* {{Expy}}: Ryo's status as an Expy of Kaiba is hard to dispute when Cyber End Dragon looks like a combination of Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon and Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon. By the same token, the Cyberdarks resemble members of the Red-Eyes Black Dragon family.
* FusionDance: Both types rely on fusing into new forms.
* MeaningfulName:
** The Edge part of Cyberdark Edge probably refers to its wing tips being as sharp as blades.
** "Cyberdark Horn" is named such because it gives "Cyberdark Dragon" its four horns.
** "Cyberdark Keel" is named after the keel of a ship, as it becomes the body of "Cyberdark Dragon".
* OneHitKill: Ryo uses Chimeratech Overdragon to perform one, signaling his FaceHeelTurn. Dedicated real life decks using Cyber Dragon and its variants can also pull these off.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: They're machines, for one thing, and embody the yin yang.
* PowerTrio: The Cyberdarks have three members in the anime.

Jun Manjoume[=/=]Chazz Princeton's spirit partners, to his disgust. Although he never stops insulting them, they become a key part of his deck as he adds more support cards for them over the course of the series, learning to utilize their hidden strengths.
----
* BlatantLies: After Chazz is [[{{Deprogram}} freed from being brainwashed]], the Ojamas claim Jaden stole them to use against Chazz.
* FusionDance: Ojama King is a fusion of the three of them.
* KnightInShiningArmor: Ojama Knight is an Ojama in knight armor.
* LethalJokeCharacter: A trio of Normal monsters with 0 ATK, but together they can obliterate an opponent's field.
* MeaningfulName: "Ojamashimasu" is a Japanese phrase roughly translating as "pardon me for interrupting/intruding". It's why the flavor text on the card mentions the Ojamas always butt in on things, and why their stronger cards fill up the opponent's Monster Zones.
* PluckyComicRelief: They get a lot of the jokes in the series.
* PowerTrio: The three of them must be together to release their powers.
* RobotMe: The [[NoExportForYou anime-only]] Mecha Ojama King and Ojamachine Yellow. Mecha Ojama King's effect also mentions Ojamachine Black and Ojamachine Green, but the latter two are never summoned or even seen.
* ShoutOut: Their mannerisms in the dub are based on the Three Stooges.
* StoneWall: Ojama King has 3000 defense, and Ojama Knight trails just after it with 2500. However, both have 0 ATK.
* UnderwearOfPower: All three of them appear clad in nothing but their underwear.

[[caption-width-right:350:The First Four ([[MyFriendsAndZoidberg and Aster]])]]
Edo/Aster Phoenix's main monster theme, based on characters in British literature. Their effects rely on swarming the field and manipulating time in various ways, doing things after a turn or two of preparation. Their leader is Destiny Hero Bloo-D/Destiny Hero Plasma.
----
* AncestralWeapon: These cards were passed down to Edo from his deceased father.
* AntiHero: When one considers their play-style and how they use their effects, type lll.
* AntiMagic: Why is Destiny Hero Plasma the Ultimate D Card? When used with the spell D-Force, Plasma negates all monster, spell and trap card effects used against itself and the user, this plus VampiricDraining.
* ArmCannon: Fear Monger and Destiny End Dragoon.
* BackFromTheDead: A major theme of the Destiny Heroes is that they resurrect themselves from the graveyard to provide several flexible strategies, such as collecting enough monsters to summon stronger ones (Dogma and Plasma), reinforce their offence (Dread Master), draw more cards (Disk Commander), and even summon themselves to the opponents field to provide an opening for damage (Departed).
* BatSignal: Destiny Signal is their answer to Hero Signal and N-Signal.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: Dogma, Blade Master, and Destiny End Dragoon.
* BloodyMurder: Plasma attaks with a wave of blood.
* ChekhovsGun: The missing Ultimate D - Card (Destiny Hero - Plasma/D-HERO - Bloo-D) stolen from Aster's father was the first host for the Light of Destruction.
* ClockKing: Certain cards create strategies for the next turn. Such as Diamond Dude who sends a spell card to the graveyard to be activated next turn.
* CrapsackWorld; Dark attribute monsters? A Clock Tower Prison? Monsters that constantly revive themselves meaning they have to die first? The Destiny Heroes most certainly fit the idea.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Despite all being Dark-attribute, they're still heroes and are wielded by a protagonist.
* DeathActivatedSuperpower: Several Destiny Heroes can activate their effects from the graveyard. Such as Fear Monger, Double Dude, Malicious, Dasher, Departed, etc.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Upon defeating The D, Aster manages to purify the tainted Ultimate D - Card from the Light of Destruction. Afterwards, Plasma becomes the centerpiece to his Destiny Hero Deck.
* EvilCounterpart: To the Elemental Heroes, naturally -- while the E-Heroes are based on colorful American comic book heroes, the D-Heroes are based on dark and serious British literature figures.
* FieldPowerEffect: Dark City comes with an attack boost and Clock Tower Prison prevents all battle damage after 4 turns.
* FusionDance: Plasma and Dogma fuse to summon the Final D-Card, Destiny End Dragoon.
* GoneToTheFuture: Doom Lord's ability that sends an opponent's monster 2 turns into the future. The first time Aster used Doom Lord against Jaden's Heroes, the equip spells on Shining Flare Wingman and Bubbleman were destroyed, invoking CantTakeAnythingWithYou.
* HellholePrison: Clock Tower Prison, considering Dreadmaster needs 4 turns before being summoned.
* MartyrdomCulture: Considering most of these monsters have low attack points and effects that revolve around being revived or summoning other monsters once they are destroyed, the Destiny Heroes can almost certainly be considered this trope.
* MementoMacGuffin: Serves this purpose to Edo of his father.
* PrisonsAreGymnasiums: Dreadmaster is a hulking prisoner that escaped confinement.
* PrisonEscapeArtist: Dread Servant works this way for Dreadmaster.
* PyrrhicVictory: The Destiny Hero cards often employ strategies that involve sacrificing weaker cards in order to achieve successful results. Using several tributes to summon the strongest monsters, monsters when destroyed provide the player with useable strategies later on (Fear Monger, Double Dude, etc), and cards that are mostly intended for this purpose. Aster was even willing to sacrifice Plasma for a combo to win against otherwise impossible odds in his duel with Amon.
* RainOfBlood: How Plasma attacks, named Vengeful Rain.
* ResurrectiveImmortality: Destiny End Dragoon revives every standby phase if it is in the graveyard by simply removing another Destiny Hero monster.
* ShoutOut: Many to English literature, most notably...
** Plasma is based on {{Dracula}}. Not only in appearance but ability as well, having vampire fangs, he needs blood to be stronger, and no monsters can resist him (his negate-monsters-effects ability), just like no human can resist Dracula's eyes.
** Double Dude is based on [[Literature/TheStrangeCaseOfDrJekyllAndMrHyde Jekyll and Hyde.]]
** Doom Lord is based on ComicBook/{{Spawn}}.
** Dreadmaster is based on Man in the Iron Mask.
** Clock Tower Prison is based on the real life ClockTower Big Ben in London.
* TimeMaster: Their effects revolve around time control, with effects relying on doing things on later turns. For example, Diamond Dude lets you discard the top card of your deck, and if it's a Spell you can activate its effect on your next turn. Doom Lord banishes a monster that returns in two turns, Double Dude summons tokens the turn after it's destroyed, and so forth.
* ThanatosGambit: Aster's father created D-Hero - Dark Angel in the event Aster would require a counter for Plasma. The trope fits very well because Aster's father was manipulated by the Light of Destruction to create Plasma in the first place.
* UltimateLifeform: In the anime, when Plasma is supported by the special spell D-Force, Literally NOTHING can stop him, he becomes completely invulnerable to any effects, and all opposing monsters on the field have their AppliedPhlebotinum negated. Him having probably absorbed already a monster with powerful ATK and Effect, claiming them as his own (His powers are akin to TheAssimilator) doesn't make things easier. Aster had to use the Kryptonite card designed by his father to defeat this combo.
* VampiricDraining: Plasma can steal a monster from the opponent, increase it's attack points by half the monster's, and acquire it's special effects.
* YourSoulIsMine: Plasma can drain the souls of its victims, not just monsters in the card game but actual human souls, as seen with Aster's father and Doctor Collector. It gets scary when it's shown that Aster continues to do this when he has Plasma defeat one of the Supreme King's goblins.

[[folder:Crystal Beasts]]
!! '''Crystal Beasts''' (''Gem Beast'' 宝玉獣 ''Hōgyokujū''
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/crystal_beast.png]]
The "Crystal Beasts", whose original name is "Gem Beasts", are all animals which have each a different kind of gem in their bodies. Their different gem colors form the seven colors of the rainbow, reflecting the name and design of their ace monster, Rainbow Dragon. These rare cards were won and used primarily by Jesse Anderson.
----
* AllYourColorsCombined: Rainbow Dragon uses an effect called Rainbow Overdrive which uses all the Crystal Beasts on the field to boost it's attack further.
* AnimalMotifs: Each of the 7 Crystal Beasts are based on an animal.
* BadassInDistress: Rainbow Dragon has a habit of being MadeASlave; first by Yubel, and then by Paradox.
* ChekhovsGun: The Rainbow Dragon card that Jesse was searching for in the 3rd season turned out to be the key to returning Duel Academy back to the real world.
* ColorCodedStones: Each Crystal Beast is based on the following Gemstones:
** Ruby Carbuncle: Red
** Amber Mammoth: Orange
** Topaz Tiger: Yellow
** Emerald Tortoise: Green
** Sapphire Pegasus and Cobalt Eagle: Different shades of Blue
** Amethyst Cat: Purple
* DimensionalTraveler: Rainbow Dragon is so powerful that it is strong enough to create a portal to return Duel Academy to Earth from the other dimension.
* EverythingsBetterWithRainbows: The prismatic Rainbow Dragon is the leader of the series.
* EverythingsSparklyWithJewelry: All of them have jewels and/or jewelry on their bodies.
* EvilCounterpart: [[BigBad Yubel]] uses the Advanced Crystal Beasts and Rainbow Dark Dragon, which are an EvilCounterpart version of the Crystal Beasts when Yubel has these monsters enslaved and Jesse trapped in the Rainbow Dark Dragon while [[DemonicPossession she takes control of Jesse's body.]]
* FusionDance: Rainbow Dragon fuses with Elemental Hero Neos to summon Rainbow Neos a few times in the show.
* GemEncrusted: They all bear gemstones somewhere on their body.
* GuardianEntity: The Gem Beasts and Rainbow Dragon protect Jesse's mind from anyone that may want to harm him. Yubel is able to possess Jesse by somehow corrupting Rainbow Dragon and enslaving the Crystal Beasts.
* KickTheDog: Yubel does this to Topaz Tiger in a duel with Jaden.
* LoyalPhlebotinum: The Crystal Beasts and Rainbow Dragon chose Jesse as the duelist to wield them. Unfortunately...
* MadeASlave: [[EvilCounterpart Turned into the Advanced Crystal Beasts]] by Yubel while [[DemonicPossession possessing Jesse.]]
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: In the dub, their voices and personalities are based on American celebrities (or rather, pretty bad imitations of them) which is odd, considering they supposedly originated centuries ago in Rome. To wit:
--> Emerald Tortoise: Woody Allen
--> Cobalt Eagle: Don Adams
--> Amber Mammoth: [[TheAhnold Arnold Schwarzenegger]]
--> Topaz Tiger: Sean Connery
--> Sapphire Pegasus: James Stewart
--> Amethyst Cat: Julie Newmar
* PokemonSpeak: All Ruby Carbuncle says is "Ruby".
* RainbowMotif: The seven of them are based on the colors of the rainbow.
* UndyingLoyalty: They're always there for Johan.

[[caption-width-right:350:Left to right: Uria, Raviel, Hamon, with Armityle in the back]]
Three powerful and dangerous cards sealed under Duel Academy - Uria, Lord of Searing Flames; Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder; and Raviel, Lord of Phantasms. They are based in appearance and power on the Egyptian God Cards, and have the power to absorb energy from other cards and duel spirits to empower themselves and their wielder.
----
* ButtMonkey: Whenever someone duels against the Sacred Beasts, Uria's always the one that gets picked on, due to it having less raw stats than the other two. Jaden destroyed it several times when facing Kagemaru and once more when facing Marcel. Against Marcel, Jesse attempted to attack it with Rainbow Dragon but was intercepted by Hamon's effect. Adrian also chose to attack it rather than the others with Exodius.
* CameBackStrong: If Uria is destroyed, its controller can discard a Trap Card on their next Main Phase to Special Summon it from the Graveyard. Because Uria gains 1000 ATK for each Trap in the controller's Graveyard, this means it will resurrect with more ATK than it had previously.
* CantCatchUp: In the first season, the three of them in the hands of Kagemaru was pretty much TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt and they needed the power of the Philosopher's Stone combined with Electrum to be defeated. In the third season, Yubel gets her hands on them, and even with cards that can instantly Summon all three of them and a Fusion with 10,000 ATK, the Demons seem to barely be keeping pace with the Neo-Spacians, the Gem Beasts, and Exodia cards that were being thrown around that season, essentially just becoming regular (albeit powerful) cards in her Deck. They also don't seem to have the "drain the world of energy" thing anymore.
* DemBones: The three all bear skeletal features, Hamon being the most prominent.
* DubNameChange: Completely reversing the intent for them to be ''evil'' versions of the God Cards by calling them "Sacred Beasts".
* EvilCounterpart: Of the Egyptian God Cards in the original series. The Sacred Beasts resemble demonic, skeletal versions of the God Cards, they're named for Judeo-Christian angels rather than ancient Egyptian deities, and their effects parallel the Egyptian Gods.
* FusionDance: Armityle, the Phantom of Chaos.
* GoodThingYouCanHeal: This trope may partly be the reason for Uria's ButtMonkey status in the anime, as it can simply Special Summon itself from the Graveyard on the controller's next turn if they discard a Trap Card, allowing it to still reamin a potent threat. Uria being repeatedly destroyed by Jaden allowed Kagemaru to keep discarding Traps to revive it and pump up its ATK.
* AnIcePerson: When Hamon is Special Summoned, lightning strikes down and creates massive ice crystals and then Hamon is released. Hamon itself doesn't actually exhibit any ice powers, however.
* LargeAndInCharge: They're massive, towering over most other GX-era monsters. Only Rainbow Dragon and Cyber End Dragon comes close to them.
* LightIsNotGood: Hamon. Light-attribute? Check. Electricity-associated? Check. Part of an evil demon trio whose release will destroy the world? Check.
* MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily: All of them, Uria most apparent.
* {{Nerf}}: All of them got this treatment when released in the real-life card game.
** In the anime, Hamon and Uria only require sending ''any'' type of Spell and Trap cards to summon. But the real life version has the requirements changed to tribute three Continuous Traps, three Continuous Spells.
** Hamon's original incarnation could reduce all damage taken by the controller to 0 for one turn if it's destroyed in Defense Position.
** Raviel originally also summoned Phantasm Tokens in response to the opponent's Special Summons, and could absorb the ATK of two monsters per turn instead of just one.
** Uria got this the worst: its original gained ATK for any Trap in the Graveyard rather than just Continuous Traps, and could be revived by discarding a Trap Card at the cost of not being able to use its destruction effect for the turn.
** Armityle's anime counterpart had an effect to shift control of itself to the opponent until the end of the turn, at which point it removes all of their other monsters from play. This effect was removed from its real-life card, but it also no longer requires a specific Spell Card to be Special Summoned.
** The structure deck ''Sacred Beasts of Chaos'' includes a Continuous Spell and Continuous Trap that more or less grant Hamon and Uria the anime effects their real cards lacked, bringing them to full power.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Once in play they begin to drain other cards of their energy. However, this was only demonstrated in the first Duel where they were used.
* PlayingWithFire: Uria's attack.
* ReligiousAndMythologicalThemeNaming: They are all named after figures from Judeo-Christian lore. Uria for the man Uriah ([[UriahGambit yes]] ''[[UriahGambit that]]'' [[UriahGambit Uriah]]), or the Angel Uriah[[note]]whose name means "''the Lord is my light''"[[/note]]; Hamon for the angel Hamon[[note]]an alternate name for the ArchangelGabriel[[/note]] or Haman, the main antagonist in the Book of Esther; Raviel for the angel Raziel[[note]]Whose name means ''Secret[s] of God''[[/note]].
* SpikesOfVillainy: All of them have spikes covering their bodies.

[[caption-width-right:350:The ten Legendary Planets ([[MyFriendsAndZoidberg and Winged Kuriboh]])]]
The Legendary Planets are a series of ten cards that appear in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga, based around the celestial bodies in the solar system. While being possessed by Tragoedia, Edo Phoenix's father created them. Elemental HERO Terra Firma was used by Judai/Jaden Yuki, The Big Saturn by David Rabb, Splendid Venus by Reggie [=MacKenzie=], The Tyrant Neptune by Jim Crocodile Cook, The Despair Uranus by Amon Garam/Adrian Gecko, The Tripper Mercury by Johan Andersen/Jesse Anderson, The Grand Jupiter by Edo/Aster Phoenix, The Suppression Pluto by Fubuki Tenjoin/Atticus Rhodes, and The Supremacy Sun by President [=MacKenzie=]. However, most users were possessed by Tragoedia while playing them.
----
* AllYourPowersCombined: The Tyrant Neptune gains the total ATK and DEF of all monsters that were tributed to summon it as well as the effect of one of them.
* DubNameChange: From Planet Series to Legendary Planet. As for individual members of the series, their names weren't altered apart from removing the capitalization of the planet's names, although a few of them did receive some changes.
** Elemental HERO The Earth —> Elemental HERO Terra Firma.
** The Splendid Venus —> Splendid Venus.
** The Tripping Mercury —> The Tripper Mercury.
* {{Expy}}:
** Elemental HERO Terra Firma is essentially Judai's manga version of Elemental HERO Neos.
** The Grand Jupiter is very similar to Edo's anime ace card, Destiny HERO Plasma. Both monsters have similar effects, they are obtained after Edo defeated Judai, and they have almost identical backstories.
* {{Macguffin}}: Along with Winged Kuriboh, Tragoedia tries to use the Legendary Planets to unseal his heart.
* SpellMyNameWithAThe: All of the Legendary Planet cards have a "The" somewhere in their name. Averted with the English names of The Earth and The Splendid Venus, as the former was changed to Terra Firma and in the latter's case, the "The" was removed.
* ThemeNaming: They are named after celestial bodies (primarily planets) from our solar system. In addition, with the exception of Terra Firma, all cards from the series follow the same pattern: The (adjective or noun) Planet.

!! Signer Dragons (''Signer Dragon'' シグナーの龍 ''Shigunā no Ryū'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/signer_dragons.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:The original five with the Crimson Dragon]]

The six '''[[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Signer_Dragon Signer Dragons]]''' are the signature Synchro Monsters of the six Signers from ''5D's''. These legendary dragons play a part in the legend of the Crimson Dragon, as well as being connected to the Signers themselves. That connection being that these legendary beasts, who actually joined forces with the Crimson Dragon, were the ones who sealed the Earthbound Immortals within the Nazca Lines. The six dragons are Stardust Dragon (Yusei Fudo), Red Dragon Archfiend (Jack Atlas), Black Rose Dragon (Aki Izayoi/[[DubNameChange Akiza Izinski]]), Ancient Fairy Dragon (Luca/[[DubNameChange Luna]]), Black-Winged Dragon (Crow Hogan), and Life Stream Dragon (Lua/[[DubNameChange Leo]]).

Reflecting the rivalry between the two main characters Yusei Fudo and Jack Atlas, Stardust Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend are the only Signer Dragons to have different upgraded versions. It is worth noting, however, that Life Stream Dragon has its downgraded, armored version, Power Tool Dragon, which is a required Synchro Material Monster for its Summon.

The manga counterparts to the Signer Dragons are the Duel Dragons and they shouldn't be confused with each other.
----
* AmbiguousGender: Ancient Fairy Dragon is confirmed to be female, but the rest are unknown. Stardust Dragon and Black Rose Dragon for example are often thought by fans to be male and female, respectively, because Yusei and Akiza use them. Beyond that, there's no actual proof for their gender beyond just assumptions or judging by appearances. Red Dragon Archfiend appears to be the most masculine among them, though.
* AttackAttackAttack:
** Red Dragon Archfiend's effect destroys all of your other monsters that haven't attack in your turn, so you are forced to attack with them.
** Shooting Star Dragon and Shooting Quasar Dragon are able to attack multiple times.
* AwesomeButImpractical:
** The Majestic forms are very strong, but they need their original forms as Synchro materials and only last for a single turn.
** Life Stream Dragon needs Power Tool Dragon and usually a Level 1 Tuner monster as its Synchro materials. Also, Life Stream Dragon as a Synchro Tuner monster is basically worthless, since it's a Level 8 monster. Many Synchro monsters who are Level 9 or above need special requirements that the Life Stream Dragon usually cannot provide.
* BigGood: In the anime, it's the Crimson Dragon, which is not a card. Shooting Quasar Dragon, the ultimate "form" of Stardust Dragon, can be counted.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: Life Stream Dragon has a blade on its left arm.
* {{Bowdlerise}}: "Red Daemon's Dragon" is changed to Red Dragon Archfiend. Likewise, the Saviour forms are changed to Majestic forms, notably Saviour Demon Dragon (Majestic Red Dragon).
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: In the 10th Anniversary movie, Stardust Dragon is stolen by Paradox, who corrupts it and summons Malefic Stardust Dragon.
* BreathWeapon: Each of them has one in the anime.
** Stardust Dragon's Shooting Sonic (Cosmic Flare in the dub).
** Red Dragon Archfiend's Blazing Crimson Hell Flare (Scorching Crimson Flare in the dub). It's also its secondary attack.
** Black-Winged Dragon's Noble Stream (Shadow Squall Blast in the dub).
** Black Rose Dragon's Black Rose Flare.
** Life Stream Dragon's "Life Is Beauty Howl".
* CCGImportanceDissonance: While in the anime, their owners put a lot of effort to summon them and the dragons are regarded as their ace monsters, in real life they are not that powerful. The only dragons that are common in most real life Extra Decks are Black Rose Dragon and Stardust Dragon, who are very universally useful in many aspects.
* TheChick: Ancient Fairy Dragon, which is used rather defensively.
* ColorCodedCharacters: On Shooting Quasar Dragon's artwork, there are six Synchro rings behind it all colored differently to represent the bonds used to create the dragon.
** Stardust Dragon has white.
** Red Dragon Archfiend has red.
** Black-Winged Dragon has black.
** Black Rose Dragon has maroon.
** Ancient Fairy Dragon has green.
** Life Stream Dragon has yellow.
* CripplingOverspecialization: Majestic Dragon, a support card for the Signer Dragons. It is a Tuner Monster that can only be used for the Synchro Summoning of a Majestic monster, and there are only two of them, and they require each a specific dragon ''and'' another non-Tuner Monster. Majestic Dragon itself has only 0 ATK and DEF, and negating its effect doesn't work because it's a Summoning Condition.
* CrystalDragonJesus: Downplayed, but the Crimson Dragon has shades of this in the anime. Majestic Star Dragon gets points for being about as literal an example as you can get, especially since it was named ''Savior'' Star Dragon in the OCG (the Majestic monsters are described as incarnations of the Crimson Dragon).
* DarkIsNotEvil: Red Dragon Archfiend, Black-Winged Dragon and Black Rose Dragon are not evil monsters.
* DifficultButAwesome: Summoning the Cosmic Synchro Monsters is not easy, but also not that difficult. And if you success, you are in advantage, since these monsters are difficult to destroy. Skilled players can summon Shooting Quasar Dragon even in their first turn!
* DubNameChange: See {{Bowdlerise}} above. Also, "Black Feather Dragon" is changed to "Black-Winged Dragon", the "/Buster" is changed to "/Assault Mode", and "Scar-Red Nova Dragon" is changed to "Red Nova Dragon".
* DyingMomentOfAwesome[=/=]TakingYouWithMe: Similar like Chaos Emperor Dragon, Black Rose Dragon can destroy all cards on the field when Synchro Summoned. This effect is very useful and can turn a bad situation in your favor.
* ElementalPunch: Not always; Red Dragon Archfiend's ''Absolute Powerforce'' is a blazing claw attack, but sometimes, it's a punch, too.
* {{Expy}}:
** Since Yusei and Jack are expies of Yugi and Kaiba, Stardust Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend are expies of Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes White Dragon, who share their ATK.
** Black Rose Dragon is an expy of Red-Eyes Black Dragon.
* GlassCannon:
** Red Dragon Archfiend is very powerful, but its effect can destroy your other monsters, which can put you at a disadvantage.
** Also, Black Rose Dragon's effect is so powerful that it destroys even itself.
* HeroicSacrifice[=/=]DisneyDeath[=/=]NegateYourOwnSacrifice: Stardust Dragon can sacrifice itself to negate and destroy a card with a destruction effect, but Stardust returns back in the End Phase.
* HourOfPower: The Majestic forms only last for a single turn and their original forms come back from the graveyard.
* KidAppealCharacter: Life Stream Dragon's weaker version, Power Tool Dragon, looks more like a toy.
* TheLancer: Red Dragon Archfiend is the foil to Stardust Dragon.
* TheLeader: Stardust Dragon can be seen as this.
* {{Leitmotif}}: In the anime, the main themes of their owners are basically the dragons' themes, too, since the themes are usually played when the duelists summon them.
* LightIsGood: Ancient Fairy Dragon, Life Stream Dragon, and Stardust Dragon and its multiple upgraded versions.
* TheMedic[=/=]CombatMedic:
** Ancient Fairy Dragon can give the player 1000 Life Points by destroying a Field Spell Card with her effect.
** Summoning Life Stream Dragon can make the player's Life Points to 4000. Though, it's not necessarily an effect that increase your Life Points. It can be used to decrease your Life Points as well.
* {{Nerf}}:
** Life Stream Dragon has an effect in the anime which can change the levels of other Synchro monsters from 1 to 12. Yusei uses this effect on Ancient Fairy Dragon, Black Rose Dragon, Black-Winged Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend to Synchro Summon Shooting Quasar Dragon. Since this effect would be too powerful, it's removed in the real life game.
** The Majestics forms have more powerful effects in the anime.
* NoSell:
** Black-Winged Dragon and Life Stream Dragon negate damage from card effects.
** Stardust Dragon, the Majestic forms, the Cosmic Synchro Monsters and Shooting Quasar Dragon can either negate card effects or attacks.
** Life Stream Dragon and Power Tool Dragon can escape destruction by removing Equip Spell Cards in the graveyard or sending an attached Equip Spell Card to the graveyard, respectively.
* NextTierPowerUp: Stardust Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend have multiple stronger forms.
** With the Trap Card "Assault Mode Activate", Stardust Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend get their /Assault Modes: '''Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode''' and '''Red Dragon Archfiend/Assault Mode'''. The /Assault Modes have 500 more ATK and DEF, two more levels and the original effects get upgraded.
** With the Tuner Monster Majestic Dragon and another non-tuner monster, you can Synchro Summon their Majestic forms: '''Majestic Star Dragon''' and '''Majestic Red Dragon'''. They have much more ATK and DEF and have very powerful effects, but they suffer from HourOfPower.
** The two dragons have also Cosmic Synchro forms. If you tune Stardust Dragon with a Synchro Tuner Monster, you can Accel Synchro Summon '''Shooting Star Dragon'''. And if you use the Double Tuning on Red Dragon Archfiend, you can Synchro Summon '''Red Nova Dragon'''. Those two dragons do not have the high ATK of the Majestic forms, but their effects are still powerful and they do not suffer from HourOfPower. Both Cosmic Synchro Monsters are also difficult to kill.
*** There is another Accel Synchro version of Stardust Dragon: '''Stardust Warrior'''.
** '''Shooting Quasar Dragon''' is the ultimate form and Limit Over Accel Synchro version of Stardust Dragon, but unlike the other forms, Stardust Dragon is not required to summon it. It has with 4000 ATK the highest base ATK among all Signer Dragons, tied with Majestic Red Dragon. It's difficult to destroy Shooting Quasar Dragon, but even if the opponent manages to destroy it, you can Special Summon Shooting Star Dragon with Quasar's effect.
** In an alternate future, Yusei summoned the Delta Accel Synchro version of Stardust Dragon, '''Cosmic Blazar Dragon''', but with Z-One's appearance in Yusei's present timeline, this was changed and Yusei is able to summon the superior Shooting Quasar Dragon. While the card doesn't appear in the anime for this reason, it was still printed in real life, with the ability to negate a card effect, attack, or monster summon by banishing itself for one turn, making it extremely difficult to remove.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: The six dragons are very different to each other. Stardust Dragon, Red Dragon Archfiend and Life Stream Dragon have more humanoid bodies, though Stardust is skinnier and has a longer head, Red has horns, and Life Stream has a blade on the left arm, not to mention that they have different colors. Ancient Fairy Dragon is a blue snake-like dragon with skinny arms, light green hair and fairy wings. Black Rose Dragon is a dragon without arms and has red roses all over its body; the wings are even made of these roses and it's the the only one of the six that has irises. And the armless Black-Winged Dragon has a bird-like face, white and black feathered wings that can glow red, black hair and many metallic-looking thin legs. Furthermore, Power Tool Dragon is a Machine-type monster.
* PersonalityPowers:
** Yusei is a selfless {{Determinator}} who is utterly devoted to his friends. His Stardust Dragon is likewise a monster that can sacrifice itself to protect your other cards from destruction and always returns after doing so.
** Jack Atlas is a HotBlooded GlorySeeker that's willing to throw his former friends under the bus (at least early on) and has a highly aggressive dueling style, reflected by Red Dragon Archfiend's high ATK, mass destruction effect, and tendency to blow up your own monsters.
** Black Rose Dragon's abilities to wipe the field of all cards and render an opponent's monster helpless nicely encapsulate Akiza's destructive and sadistic Black Rose Witch persona.
** Luna is kind and gentle by nature and can communicate with Duel Monster spirits, and her Ancient Fairy Dragon is a StoneWall with defensive effects that can call other monsters to her aid.
* PersonOfMassDestruction:
** Black Rose Dragon destroys every card on the field when Synchro Summoned.
** After the damage calculation against a Defense Position monster, Red Dragon Archfiend destroys all other monsters in Defense Position the opponent controls. Also, any monster of the controller of Red Dragon Archfiend that hasn't attack will be destroyed in the End Phase.
** If Majestic Red Dragon attacks, it destroys all monsters in Defense Position after damage calculation.
* PlayingWithFire: Black Rose Dragon is a FIRE monster. In the anime, Red Dragon Archfiend and its upgraded versions are associated with fire as well.
* PowerLimiter: Life Stream Dragon is covered in a metallic armor for most of the time and is less powerful in this state. This form is known as Power Tool Dragon.
* PoweredArmor: The /Assault Modes of Stardust and Red Daemon's are empowered by armors.
* PunnyName: In the OCG, Red Nova Dragon's name is Scar-Red Nova Dragon. Scar-Red is a pun to "scarlet".
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: Red Dragon Archfiend, Black-Winged Dragon and Black Rose Dragon avert this trope.
* SixthRanger: In the anime flashbacks, Life Stream Dragon was among the five dragons who sealed the Earthbound Immortals. However, due to the popularity of the Blackwing archetype, Crow gets promoted as the fifth Signer instead of Rua, so an unknown sixth dragon, Black-Winged Dragon, appears out of nowhere. Life Stream Dragon appears as the sixth dragon in the anime when Rua becomes the sixth Signer.
** Majestic Dragon is not a Signer Dragon, but it's a support card that allows the player to summon a Majestic form of either Stardust or Red.
* SomethingAboutARose: Black Rose Dragon, of course, being visually comprised largely of rose petals and thorns.
* SpellMyNameWithAThe: The "/" ("Slash") in "/Assault Mode" is pronounced as well.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: In the OCG, you can see that Red Daemon's Dragon's katakana have a long E, while Saviour Demon Dragon has a short E. This is the reason, why Majestic Red Dragon is ''not'' an Archfiend card.
* SpotlightStealingSquad:
** In the anime, each of them are stars of their owners deck and steal more spotlight than the other monsters.
** Among the six dragons, Stardust Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend are this in the anime, especially the former. This is also the reason why so many upgraded versions of them exist.
** Meta-wise, Stardust Dragon and Black Rose Dragon are more seen and used in the real life game than the other dragons.
* StoneWall: Ancient Fairy Dragon has the lowest ATK (2100), but it has the highest DEF (3000) among the six dragons.
* SuperMode: Stardust Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend are the only who attain stronger forms throughout the years[[labelnote:note]]Unless one counts Life Stream Dragon as one to Power Tool Dragon[[/labelnote]].
* WeakButSkilled: Black Rose Dragon has the lowest combined ATK and DEF out of all Signer Dragon. Ironically, its key effect is one of the most powerful, effective and easy to use - it completely destroys the field. What's more is that the summoning conditions are the least restrictive that a Synchro Monster can have, meaning that any deck that can potentially make level 7 Synchro monsters can make Black Rose Dragon and use its effect.
* WreathedInFlames: Red Dragon Archfiend and its upgraded forms do this often in the anime. Also, Red Dragon Archfiend's primary attack, Absolute Powerforce, covers its claw with glowing flames.

!! Dark Tuner/Dark Synchro Monsters (''Dākuchūnā''/''Dāku Shinkuro Monsutā'')
-->''When shadows are devoured by darker shadows, the curtain pulls back and reveals... A world without light!''

Tuner and Synchro Monsters utilized by the Dark Signers and their followers. Unlike their regular counterparts, Dark Tuner and Synchro Monsters have ''negative'' levels represented by blue dots with purple stars that allign to the left of the card similar to the Ranks of Xyz Monsters. Dark Synchro monster cards are also coloured a dull grey instead of white.

The known Dark Synchro Monsters are Frozen Fitzgerald, Dark Diviner, Hundred Eyes Dragon, Underground Arachnid, Dark Flattop, Zeman The Ape King, and Moon Dragon Quilla.

The Dark Synchro Monsters were eventually released in the TCG as regular Synchro Monsters with their summoning requirements slightly tweaked, instead just requiring a DARK attribute Tuner Monster.

----
* DarkIsEvil: The majority of them are DARK attribute with the exception of Frozen Fitzgerald, Underground Arachnid, and Zeman The Ape King and are all evil as hell.
* EvilCounterpart: To Synchro Monsters in general. Regular synchro monsters are described as helping build upon each other to give themselves strength. Dark Synchro Monsters are described as having their components devour each other to attain greater power.

[[quoteright:350: https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/300pxEarthboundimmortallsearthboundgods1_408.jpg]]

Embodiments of evil sealed within the Nazca Lines by the Crimson Dragon and its servants. They were unleashed from the Underworld 17 years ago, after the Zero Reverse incident blew a hole between this world and theirs. They are the driving force behind the Dark Signers, and are as follows; Uru (Spider), Cusillu (Monkey), Ccapac Apu (Giant), Aslla Piscu (Hummingbird), Ccarayhua (Lizard), Chacu Challua (Killer Whale) and lastly Wiraqocha Rasca (Condor). Much like the 5 Dragons serve the Crimson Dragon, they serve the King of the Underworld (Meikai No Oh).

There is another 'lost' Earthbound God, Scar-Red Nova, which was personally sealed by the Crimson Dragon 5000 years before the others, and was too violent for the Dark Signers to use. Its power was sealed by Jack to create Scar-Red Nova Dragon.
----
* AchillesHeel: They're completely powerless without a Field Spell in play. Of course, when summoned in a Turbo Duel (as four of them were), this isn't an issue.
* AnimalMotifs: All of them are based on animals.
** Uru is based on a spider.
** Aslla piscu vaguely resembles a hummingbird.
** Cusillu possesses the appearance of a monkey.
** Ccarayhua moderately resembles a reptile.
** Ccapac Apu barely resembles a giant.
** Chacu Challhua looks like an orca.
** Wiraqocha Rasca is modeled after a condor.
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: They are ''absurdly'' large. Ccarayhua is about three-quarters to two-thirds the height of the Arcadia building.
* AwesomeButImpractical:
** Cusillu's unique effect is hard to use as well since it requires it to be destroyed by battle and for you to have another monster on the field. And since the Immortals cannot be targeted for an attack, you would have to let Cusillu attack a stronger monster on purpose just to use its effect when you could keep Cusillu on the field and keep attacking directly. Another way for it to happen would be for your opponent to negate Cusillu's effect and then attack it but that would require them letting you keep a monster on the field or using effects to make sure you still have a monster by the time Cusillu is destroyed.
* BeatStillMyHeart: When Earthbound Gods are summoned, a disembodied heart appears and starts beating as it absorbs people's souls.
* BreathWeapon: Wiraqocha Rasca, and the King of the Underworld.
* CherryTapping: Wiraqocha Rasca's 1 ATK, meant to compliment [[HPToOne its key anime effect]].
* DemonicPossession: They will do this if they are not happy with their Dark Signer.
* EarlyBirdCameo: They are first seen in episode 30 covered by a dark fog. Despite this you can make out which is which by their colored highlights. Also the condor geoglyph can be seen as well.
* EldritchAbomination: They're ginormous embodiments of evil that eat souls en masse just by being summoned. They also have effects that bend numerous rules of the game to make themselves nearly unassailable.
* EvilIsBigger: These things are {{Kaiju}}-sized in the anime and dwarf all of the Signer Dragons.
* EvilIsNotAToy: The Dark Signers cut a deal with their respective Earthbound Immortal to come back to life. If the Dark Signers get any moral qualms about their actions, their Earthbound Immortal will pull a VillainOverride. You don't get to make [[DealWithADevil a pact]] with a GodOfEvil without some consequences.
* EverythingsEvenWorseWithSharks: Chacu Challhua is a killer whale, but looks and moves in a shark like manner as well.
* GiantEyeOfDoom: Ccarayhua is introduced to Akiza this way, with its eyelid taking up an entire window and then opening.
* GiantSpider: Uru, though it's actually one of the shorter Immortals.
* GodOfEvil: They are called Earthbound '''Gods''' in the Japanese variation.
* GreaterScopeVillain: The King of the Underworld is built up to be this until it is revealed that [[BigBad Rex Godwin]] was using it the whole time.
* HPToOne: Wiraqocha Rasca's unique effect in the anime was to change the opponent's LP to 1 if the controller skipped their Battle Phase for the turn.
* {{Kaiju}}: They're an interesting variation - they cause plenty of destruction, but it's their geoglyphs rather than the monsters themselves most of the time.
* MadeOfEvil: According to Bruno, they were manifested from the evil in people's hearts.
* {{Mayincatec}}: They are all based on Nazca Lines.
* AMillionIsAStatistic: Earthbound Gods' sacrifices.
* NobleBirdOfPrey: Wiraqocha Rasca, particularly as it's the most powerful of the seven.
* NoPronunciationGuide: The Earthbound God's [[BilingualBonus names are in Quechuan]], which doesn't mix well with English pronunciation guidelines. Ccapac Apu and Ccarayhua are the two major offenders, due to the double "C"s being pronounced separately.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: The King of the Underworld, which appears as an EvilCounterpart to Life Stream Dragon. It represents Death, while Life Stream represents Life.
* SealedEvilInACan: Old Momentum being the can-opener and the Nazca Lines, of all things, being the can.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: No, that's not a typo, Aslla piscu really is spelt with a lowercase "p".
* TakingYouWithMe: In a flashback which Luca experiences as a dream, when the Earthbound Gods are destroyed by the Signer Dragons, the disembodied head of Uru uses its web strands to drag Ancient Fairy Dragon into the Nazca Lines causing her to be sealed alongside the Earthbound Gods.
* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: Jesus. Spell/Trap immunity (in the anime), attack immunity, direct attacks, brutal effects, and being so freaking enormous despite their geoglyphs already tearing up the surroundings...

!! Warrior (''Warrior'' ウォリアー ''Woriā'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/synchro_warriors.png]]
Yusei's main cards, the Sychrons are low-level Tuners and the Warriors are low-level Warrior-types. To summon a Synchro Warrior, they need the appropriate Synchron as Tuner -- usually, the Warrior and the Synchron have the same adjective, such as Road Warrior needing Road Synchron. The most prominent of these is Junk Warrior, who rivals Stardust Dragon as Yusei's signature monster.
----

* ButtMonkey: Speed Warrior has a paltry 900 ATK, and his ATK-boosting effect only applies for the turn he is Normal Summoned. As a result, he will be curb-stomped by the next turn. His true usefulness is to be revived by Junk Synchron to summon Junk Warrior.
* DubInducedPlotHole: Downplayed. The Japanese cards had "Warrior" spelled differently to show they were different from previous monsters with "Warrior" in their name. The English translations didn't approximate this, but it's a non-issue since their archetype-support specifies Synchro Monsters.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Shield Warrior wields a massive shield. To show its defensive prowess, it can banish itself from the Graveyard to protect your monsters from being destroyed in battle.
* MechanicalLifeForms: They all look mechanical in appearance.
* ThisIsADrill: Drill Synchron has twin drills for arms, while Drill Warrior has a single arm-drill.
* ZergRush: Very few of the non-Synchros have anything resembling impressive stats, but their effects lets Yusei summon several of them and manipulate their levels to quickly get those Synchro Warriors into play.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/meklord.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:From left to right: Skiel, Granel and Wisel]]
A series of monsters used by the Three Emperors of Yliaster. They are: Meklord Emperor Wisel, owned by Placido; Meklord Emperor Skiel, owned by Lucciano; and Meklord Emperor Granel, owned by Jose. Arriving on Earth one at a time via stone tablets, they have the ability to absorb Synchro monsters - and since most people in the series use them, this is a bit of a problem for anyone facing them. There is a fourth Meklord Emperor, Aporia's, called Meklord Astro Mekanikle.

During the WRGP final, it is shown that an army of Meklord Emperors attacked humanity at the height of its development, before Momentum went out of control and destroyed the world.
----
* TheAssimilator: All of them can absorb Synchro monsters.
* CombiningMecha: Each one is made up of 5 separate components with effects that support one another, and can be replaced or upgraded to make the Kikoutei more powerful. While there's no limitation on mixing and matching parts from different Emperors, only Placido actually used parts from different Emperors on his own.
* TheDreaded: Before Yusei got Shooting Star Dragon, he was ''terrified'' of them for their ability.
* EEqualsMCHammer: The fourth Emperor is called ''Infinity Cubic''. How one cubes infinity is anyone's guess.
* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles: Wisel has a pair of boosters on its upper legs that emit a trail of sparkles.
* GaiasVengeance: They were created by Momentum to eliminate the cause of the system's instability, which was due to the human race becoming greedy, apathetic, and conceited with progress.
* HumongousMecha:
** While Meklord Emperors Wisel and Skiel aren't ''that'' humongous, Jose's Emperor, Granel, certainly is.
** And then there's the gigantic monstrosity that is Meklord Astro Mekanikle. [[http://static3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110116010337/yugioh/images/1/15/5Dx143_More_Machine_Imperials.jpg Look at its size compared to Meklord Imperial Soldier Skiel Ein]].
* KillerRobot: They effectively wiped out humanity in the BadFuture.
* MageKiller[=/=]AntiMagic: Their deck style is against the use of Synchro monsters, culminating in their signature emperors. Although it's less "killer" and more like "absorb them into their monsters". The first time Yusei encounters them, he has nightmares about Wisel until gaining Accel Synchro, which basically teleports them before they can be snagged. Of course, Granel and Mekanikle can counteract that too.
* ManOfKryptonite: Designed to kill Synchro Monsters.
* NumerologicalMotif: They all have an infinity sign on their chest.
* OddNameOut: Astro (Dragon) for the two strongest Mekanikle and Asterik.
* PlotBasedPhotographObfuscation: All of them appear in the opening credits, but until they have actually appeared in the show, they are mostly hidden by shadow.
* ShoutOut: The tablets that they arrive in are similar to the monolith from ''2001: A Space Odyssey''. Not to mention the Ka Tablets from the ''[[Anime/YuGiOh original show.]]''
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: Unlike Wisel and Skiel, Jose's Granel has the ability to prevent Synchros that it attacks from removing themselves from the field, as Jack found out rather painfully. Adding more is that it can drag out the Synchro from the Graveyard into its body.

[[folder:Duel Dragons]]
!! Duel Dragons (''Duel Dragon'' 決闘竜 ''Dyueru Doragon'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/duel_dragons.png]]
A series of 10 Dragon Synchro Monsters that appear only in the manga. Six of them are dark versions of the Signer Dragons -- in fact, the Signer Dragons appear in the manga in alternate forms as Duel Dragons. They were used in ancient Turbo Duel rituals to seal darkness, or so Rex Godwin claims. In actuality they were by worshippers of the Ultimate God, Ultimaya Tzolkin, the manga's equivalent to the Crimson Dragon. Rex Godwin intends to use the Duel Dragons to revive the God and claim its power.
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: In the anime, the Signer Dragons and the Crimson Dragon are benevolent. In the manga, the Duel Dragons are tools of evil and the Crimson Dragon is re-imagined as Ultimaya Tzolkin, the GreaterScopeVillain of the manga.
* BlackEyesOfCrazy: When a Duelist is completely controlled by them.
* DarkIsEvil: Even the Signer Dragon counterparts look much darker and more ominous compared to the anime, with the exceptions of Stardust, Dragoascension, and Black Rose.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Blackfeather Darkrage Dragon after Crow obtains it.
* DemonicPossession: They can do this to the Duelists that use them.
* DrunkOnTheDarkSide: Tends to happen to those possessed by their Duel Dragon.
* DubNameChange: All of the Duel Dragons names have been changed in the English manga and TCG:
** Machine Dragon - Power Tool > Power Tool Mecha Dragon
** Fairy Dragon - Ancient > Ancient Pixie Dragon
** Burning Demon Dragon - Red Demon > Hot Red Dragon Archfiend
** Flashing Karat Dragon - Stardust > Stardust Spark Dragon
** Demon King Dragon - Beelze > Beelze of the Diabolic Dragons
** Purgatory Dragon - Ogre Dragoon > Void Ogre Dragon
** Mysterious Winged Dragon - Black Feather > Blackfeather Darkrage Dragon
** Underworld Dragon Dragonecro > Dragonecro Nethersoul Dragon
** Dragoascension, the Supreme Dragon of the Heavens > Ascension Sky Dragon
** Moon Flower Dragon - Black Rose > Black Rose Moonlight Dragon
** Underworld Flood Dragon Dragocytos > Dragocytos Corrupted Nethersoul Dragon.
** Demon King Super Dragon - Beelzeus > Beelzeus of the Diabolic Dragons
** InconsistentDub: Between Volumes 3 and 4, Power Tool has gone from Power Tool Mecha Dragon to Machine Dragon Power Tool, and Red Demon from Enma Dragon Red Demon to Jeweled Red Dragon Archfiend.
* EvilCounterpart: Meta-wise, they are this to the Signer Dragons, as plot-important Synchro Dragons. But where the Signer Dragons are good, the Duel Dragons are evil.
* {{Expy}}: Six of the Duel Dragons shown look exactly like the Signer Dragons, but with strange markings on their bodies.
** Stardust Sifr is the manga counterpart to Shooting Quasar Dragon, with them having the same summoning requirements. Appearance-wise, it resembles Shooting Star Dragon as well as the dragon that appeared in Future Colors, 5Ds's fifth ending.
* LightIsGood: Stardust Spark and Moonlight Dragon Black Rose.
* LightIsNotGood: Ascension Sky Dragon is the ace card of the manga's main antagonist, Rex Goodwin.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Red Demon can destroy every single other Attack Position Monster in play with just its effect.
* ShoutOut: Dragoascension has Slifer the Sky Dragon's signature effect.
* SuperMode: Some of the Duel Dragons have evolved forms.
** ''Demon King Super Dragon - Beelzeus'' for Beelze.
** ''Dragococytus the Impure Underworld Dragon'' for Dragonecro.
** ''Divine Spark Dragon Stardust Sifr'', and ''Stardust Chronicle Spark Dragon'' for Stardust.
** Hot Red Dragon Archfiend has three evolved forms: ''Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss'', ''Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Belial'', and ''Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity''.

!''ZEXAL''
[[folder:Numbers]]
!! Numbers (''Number'' No. ''Nanbāzu'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/numbers_9.jpg]]
The '''[[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Number Number]]''' series, also known as '''Numbers''' in the OCG, a big part of the setting and story of ''Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL''. They are the most prominent Xyz Monsters in the game. In the anime and manga, there are three variants of basic Number monsters: the Emperor's Key Numbers, which have numerical values less than or equal to 100; the Legendary Numbers[[note]]44, 46, 54, 64, 65, 73, 94[[/note]], which are part of the original 100 Numbers, and the Over-One Hundred Numbers[[note]]101-107[[/note]], which are not part of the original 100 Numbers (for each group, see below).

Several Numbers have upgraded forms, most notably the Chaos Number form (Number C) introduced in the anime, but also the Shining Number form (Number S) introduced in the manga. Both forms can be Xyz Summoned by overlaying their base forms through Chaos/Shining Xyz Change ([[DubNameChange Xyz Evolution]]). Alternatively, if the Chaos Xyz Change is not possible by that method, then the Number C monsters can be summoned with Rank-Up Magic Spell Cards. There are 25 Number C monsters[[note]]C1, C5, C6, C9, C15, C32, 3x C39, C40, C43, C65, C69, C73, C80, C88, C92, C96, C101-C107[[/note]], three Number S monsters[[note]]S0, 2x S39[[/note]], as well as one Number F monster[[note]]F0[[/note]], the latter being not an evolution of any card.

Nevertheless, in the end of the anime, all 100 Numbers including their Chaos Number forms are currently owned by Astral.
----
* TwoDVisualsThreeDEffects: The anime portrays almost every Number rendered in CG, with ''a few'' exceptions, like Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja and Number 83: Galaxy Queen.
* AchillesHeel:
** Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon and Neo-Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon are designed to counter them.
** Numeral Hunter is an anti-Number card, designed after Number Hunter Kaito Tenjou.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: The darkness of the duelists who use them is amplified and they are under their control. Yuma is protected by his Emperor's Key, Kaito by his Photon Change, and the Tron Family by their crests. Individuals can overcome the Number's possession as demonstrated by Shark with his Number 32: Shark Drake. However, the power of Photon Change and the crests seem to be limited, and has [[CastFromHitPoints fatal consequences and being used to wield a Number card will drastically exhaust their user]].
* DarkIsEvil:
** Since Xyz Monsters are black cards, they fit this trope in the anime, as they are able to easily amplify the darkness and desires of their user, whether these cause good or bad. This includes even [[BewareTheNiceOnes Number 39: Utopia]].
** Subverted in the manga, as Yuma believes that the Numbers are not evil. It is stated by Luna (not from ''5D's'') that they mirrors the hearts of people. Even in the anime, it is somewhat subverted: the Number cards amplify their user's desires to great levels, that includes their good desires, as seen in episode 3 - 4, where their victim (Ukyou Kitano/Mr. Kay) simply made a giant hologram representing a being of good luck to make people happy.
* DubNameChange: From Numbers to Number.
* GottaCatchEmAll: The goal of several characters and some real life collectors is to collect all Numbers.
* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: 108 different numbers (109 if you include Numerronius), with at least one monster representing each. Then there are the Chaos Numbers and Shining Numbers...
* {{Nerf}}: They are considerably stronger in the anime and manga, where they can only be destroyed in battle by another Number monster. Also, some individual Number monsters have stronger effects in the anime.
* NextTierPowerUp: Numbers can be upgraded into Chaos Numbers (Number C) or Shining Number (Number S). Utopia has even an upgrade that is neither of these forms.
* NighInvulnerability: Number Wall protects Number monsters from destruction by card effects. Additionally, the OCG/TCG added it an effect that prevents Number monsters from being destroyed by battle except by other Number monsters, a {{homage}} to their anime and manga effects. However, if a Number monster is destroyed, Number Wall is destroyed as well.
* OverlyLongName: Most of them have not only Number [X] in their names, the rest of their names are ridiculously long. The evolutions usually increase the length of the names.
* PersonalityPowers: The Numbers take the form of what whoever finds them desires the most, design themselves to fit their original owner's Decks, and keep that form forever. Similar goes for the Over One-Hundred Numbers. The Legendary Numbers however are based of the past lives of the Seven Barian Emperors.
** Some of the OriginalGeneration Numbers are designed to fit into the decks of already existing characters.
* TakesOneToKillOne: In the anime and manga, a Number can only be destroyed in battle by another Number. Number Wall emulates this.
* YouAreNumberSix: Each Number monster has a corresponding natural number, which is included at the start of its name after "Number". According to WordOfGod, they are not chosen randomly, but are decided "carefully with attention to details, so that fans can enjoy it in various places", which often results in puns and second meanings for each Number.[[note]]For the curious, the actual Number 6 is [=OOParts=] Atlantal/Chronomaly Atlandis.[[/note]]

!!Emperor's Key Numbers[[note]]excluding the Legendary Numbers[[/note]] (''Emperor's Key Numbers'' 皇の鍵のNo. ''Ō no Kagi no Nanbāzu'')
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/emperor_keys_numbers.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Trust me, there are many more.]]
The '''Emperor's Key Numbers''' have have numerical values less than or equal to 100. During Astral's battle with Don Thousand, fragments of Astral's power were scattered across Earth and designated the location of the Numeron Code. They took the form of 100 Numbers, among them the seven Legendary Numbers, and the four "Gate of Numeron" monsters. When Yuma Tsukumo unlocked the door with his Emperor's Key, he opened a portal between the Astral World and his own, which allowed Astral to come into his world. Yuma found himself trapped within a sphere of blank cards, which shortly flew away. Astral's remaining power and memories were scattered into fifty more Number cards. In order to regain his lost memories, Astral cooperates with Yuma. When Astral collects all of the cards, something else will happen besides his memory recovery. It is later revealed that Astral will obtain the Numeron Code, which he was to use to annihilate the Barian World in order to Rank-Up the Astral World, but Yuma changed this mission. However, the Barian World's leaders: the Seven Barian Emperors, are also trying to collect the "Numbers." If they collect all of them, then they will get the Numeron Code and use it to destroy Astral World. During the course of the story, some of them gained Chaos Number forms.
----
* ActionGirl:
** Number 21: Frozen Lady Justice and Number 87: Queen of the Night. The former might count as a DarkActionGirl as well.
** Averted with Number 83: Galaxy Queen, who is pretty much a NonActionBigBad for the Sparrow archetype. Unlike the two above, she has ''both'', weak stats and a purely supportive effect.
* AttackReflector: When Number 13: Embodiment of Crime and Number 31: Embodiment of Punishment are on the field, they force the opponent's monsters to attack them. The opponent suffers the resulting Battle Damage instead of the controller.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: Number 77: The Seven Sins is a Fiend-Type monster that looks like a gigantic spider.
* ChefOfIron: Number 59: Crooked Cook is a combat cook.
* CoolBoat: Number 50: Blackship of Corn. It can destroy an opponent's monster that has equal or less ATK than this card and the opponent gets 1000 damage. However, Blackship of Corn cannot attack during the turn the effect was activated.
* CoolStarship: Number 42: Galaxy Tomahawk.
* CoolTrain: Number 81: Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Super Dora is cannon monster with four trains as its legs.
* EnergyAbsorption: When Number 96: Dark Mist battles a monster, it will steal half of its ATK. If Dark Mist is attached to Number C96: Dark Storm, it will steal its original ATK.
* EverythingsBetterWithDinosaurs: Number 19: Freezerdon and Number 61: Volcasaurus are Dinosaur-Type monsters. They are originally owned by the tag dueling brothers Rikuo and Kaio. The effects of these cards reflect the playing style of the brothers, with Rikuo being the main attacker and does most of the damage, Kaio plays defensively and supports his older brother. They also use a FIRE and an Ice deck, respectively.
* EverythingsWorseWithSharks: Number 32: Shark Drake, Number C32: Shark Drake Veiss, Number 37: Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark, Number 47: Nightmare Shark, and Number 71: Rebarian Shark as you can see obviously. They (barring the Dragon-Type Rebarian) are also the only Sea Serpent-Type monsters among the Numbers.
* TheGhost: Number 5: Death Chimera Dragon was only mentioned in Number C5: Chaos Chimera Dragon's card text in the Japanese version of the anime, but has yet to appear.
* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: Number 83: Galaxy Queen for the Sparrow archetype, who is based of D.D. Esper Star Sparrow's mother in the TV show from ''ZEXAL'', where the queen is played by Fuya's mother, who in turn plays Robin/Sparrow.
* {{Golem}}: Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction and Number 55: Gogogo Goliath.
* TheHighQueen: Number 87: Queen of the Night from the Plant Princess archetype.
* IWorkAlone: Number 59: Crooked Cook has an effect that lets him destroy all other cards you control, but in exchange, he gains 300 ATK for each monster destroyed and sent to the Graveyard by his effect until the end of the turn. As long as he's the only card you control, he is unaffected by other cards' effects.
* AnIcePerson: Number 19: Freezerdon and Number 21: Frozen Lady Justice, as their names already indicate, are related to ice.
* MookMaker: Number 42: Galaxy Tomahawk can create tokens.
* {{Necromancer}}: Number 32: Shark Drake can revive an enemy monster it just destroyed in battle and reduces that monster's ATK by 1000 and Shark Drake can attack a second time (though, Shark Drake doesn't have to battle the revived monster again).
* OurCentaursAreDifferent: Number 45: Crumble Logos the Prophet of Demolition is a centaur. His lower half looks like the body of a mechanical horse, while the upper half looks like an undead man.
* PoisonousPerson: The artwork of Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction has the monster release poisonous fumes. And it can damage its controller with its effects.
* SinisterGeometry: Number 11: Big Eye is an upside-down cone with a giant eye that's capable of mind-controlling other monsters.
* ThirteenIsUnlucky: Number 13: Embodiment of Crime or Cain's Demon in Japan, is rather demonic in appearance. Paired with Number 31: Embodiment of Punishment, the two can lock down the game by forcing the opponent's monsters to attack them and make them lose Life Points that the controller would've lost.

[[folder:Mythyrian Numbers]]
!!Mythyrian Numbers (''Legendary Numbers'' 伝でん説せつのNo.''Densetsu no Nanbāzu'')
The '''Mythyrian Numbers''', also known as '''Legendary Numbers''' in the original, are seven cards of the original 100 Numbers and they play a major part in the story of ''ZEXAL II''. They are unique, located in Number ruins across the world, protected by guardians. Each of these Numbers correspond to a legend inscribed on the walls of the ruins, telling the story of the person who occupied that location in a previous era, before they became ruins due to the ravages of time. Rather than taking their form based on their holders Deck, they take a form relative to the legend that is described. The legendary figures are the human past lives of the Seven Barian Emperors, and instead of containing the pieces of Astral's memories, the Legendary Numbers contain the memories of the legendary figures.

The seven Legendary Numbers are Number 44: Sky Pegasus (Durbe), Number 46: Dragluon (Mizael), Number 54: Lion Heart (Alito), Number 64: Ronin Raccoon Sandayu (Girag), Number 65: Djinn Buster (Vector), Number 73: Abyss Splash (Nasch) and Number 94: Crystalzero (Merag). Two of them have also Chaos upgrades -- Number C65: King Overfiend and Number C73: Abyss Supra Splash.
----
* AnIcePerson: Number 94: Crystalzero, since she represents Merag who is an Ice duelist.
* MacGuffin: In the anime, they were used by Astral to seal Don Thousand in the Barian Sea. If Astral obtains them all, he would discover the location of the Numeron Code. However, if the Barian deity Don Thousand obtains them all, he would be fully revived, which later turns out to be false as Don Thousand himself reveals to Yuma and Astral that if all seven of the Legendary Numbers were procured from their ruins, his power will then be restored completely. Also, since each of them contains the true memories of the Seven Barian Emperors, the heroes use them to convince the Barians to make a HeelFaceTurn.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Number 46: Dragluon is a Dragon-Type monster. In Mizael's past life, Mizael was a dragon tamer and his dragon Jinlon became Dragluon's guardian, hence the similarities between Jinlon and Dragluon.
* PantheraAwesome: Number 54: Lion Heart is a humanoid lion. In his past life, Alito was a gladiator, and lions are common animals in the coliseum.
* {{Pegasus}}: Number 44: Sky Pegasus. Its guardian Mach was originally a pegasus himself and he served Durbe in his past life who was a knight.
* RuleOfSeven: Since they are based of the Seven Barian Emperors' past life as human, each of them represents a Barian Emperor and contains his/her memories as a human.
* {{Samurai}}: Number 64: Ronin Raccoon Sandayu is a samurai raccoon, fitting to Girag's past life as a shogun.
* TheWorfEffect: Their inability to be destroyed in battle with non-Number monsters is usually brought up before a character is about to either neutralise it or employ a tactic that damages their holder regardless. It ultimately becomes an outright moot point in later episodes, so much so that it barely gets mentioned.

[[caption-width-right:350:The Seven Over One-Hundred Numbers with their Chaos forms underneath]]
The seven '''[[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Number_10X Over One-Hundred Numbers]]''', or '''Number 10X''' for short, are the signature cards of the Seven Barian Emperors from ''ZEXAL''. The Over One-Hundred Numbers are malignant versions of the Number cards designed by Don Thousand to corrupt the Seven Barian Emperors, who have been reincarnated due to each being connected to one of the Number ruins. This corrupts their original memories and allows them to serve him in the restoration of his power. When each of the Barian Emperors was about to die Don Thousand would appear to them and attach each of the Numbers to their soul thus filling them with hate. The falsified memories they contain can be countered by the corresponding Legendary Number. Unlike the first 100 Numbers, Astral cannot absorb them since they are not pieces of his memory. Each of the seven Over-One Hundred Numbers has an own Number C version.

Number 101: Silent Honor ARK is owned by Nasch/[[DubNameChange Nash]], Number 102: Star Seraph Sentry by Durbe/[[DubNameChange Dumon]], Number 103: Ragna Zero by Merag/[[DubNameChange Marin]], Number 104: Masquerade by Vector, Number 105: Battlin' Boxer Star Cestus by Alito, Number 106: Giant Hand by Girag, and Number 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon by Mizael/[[DubNameChange Mizar]].
----
* ArcherArchetype: Number 102: Star Seraph Sentry wields a bow.
* BlackKnight: There are two knight-like monsters colored in black.
** Number C101: Silent Honor DARK is a {{Homage}} to Shark's previous ace monster Black Ray Lancer. Silent Honor DARK also represent's Nasch's role as an AntiVillain.
** Number C102: Archfiend Seraph reflects Durbe's nature as a NobleDemon and might reference Durbe's past life as a knight.
* BladeOnAStick:
** Number C101: Silent Honor DARK wields a lance, a {{Homage}} to Shark's previous ace monster Black Ray Lancer.
** Also, Number C102: Archfiend Seraph wields a lance, which might reflects Durbe's role as Nasch's [[TheDragon Dragon]].
* CoolMask: Number 104: Masquerade and Number C104: Umbral Horror Masquerade have those.
* CoolShip: Number 101: Silent Honor ARK is a futuristic submarine of war. It is probably one of the most popular Xyz Monster in the game due to its effect.
* DarkIsEvil:
** While the dark-colored monsters border between this trope and DarkIsNotEvil since most of the Seven Barian Emperors are anti-villains, Number C104: Umbral Horror Masquerade definitively is this trope, as it is the only DARK monster and is used by CardCarryingVillain Vector, TheHeavy.
** Although six of the seven Over One-Hundred Number fit this trope since they were all created to suppress and alter the human memories of the Seven Barian Emperors and to fill their souls with hate.
* EvilCounterpart: Number 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon and Number C107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon are the counterparts of Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon and Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon, since they are ace monsters of Mizael and Kaito, respectively, who are rivals.
* FourIsDeath: Six of the seven base Over One-Hundred Numbers are Rank 4 monsters.
* GiantHandsOfDoom: Number 106: Giant Hand and Number C106: Giant Red Hand.
* AnIcePerson: Number 103: Ragna Zero and Number C103: Ragna Infinity, fitting to Merag's Ice deck.
* LightIsNotGood: Since they are used by the Seven Barian Emperors, the LIGHT monsters are this. Especially Number 104: Masquerade because it's Vector's monster, who is the truly evil Barian Emperor.
* NobleDemon: Number C102: Archfiend Seraph, who is even named "Noble Demon" in the OCG.
* RuleOfSeven: They are the ace monsters of the Seven Barian Emperors, so each Emperor has an Over One-Hundred Number and its Chaos Number form.
* SimpleStaff: Number C104: Umbral Horror Masquerade has a staff, fitting as he's a Spellcaster-Type monster.
* SinisterScimitar: Number 103: Ragna Zero wields a white scimitar.
* SinisterScythe: Number C103: Ragna Infinity has a dark red scythe.
* SmurfettePrinciple: Number 103: Ragna Zero with her upgraded form is the only female member of the Over One-Hundred Numbers, since she is used by Merag, the only female Barian Emperor.

!!Number 0 (''Number 0'' No.0 ''Nanbāzu Zero'')[[quoteright:270:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/number_0.png]]
[[caption-width-right:270:''This is my Creating Heaven And Earth! My Future! Kattobingu da, ore! King of Future - Hope!'']]
There are two Number 0 cards. The last Number that appears in the anime, '''[[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Number_F0:_Utopic_Future Number F0: Utopic Future]]''', the only Future Number in the game; and Number S0: Utopic ZEXAL, one of the Shining Numbers from the manga. Both cards are not part of the original 100 Numbers and are in fact creations of Yuma's hope and they are connected with the Utopia archetype. Both stand out as Xyz Monsters, as their Rank is 0 (but they are treated as Rank 1 monsters) and they can be Xyz Summoned by overlaying multiple Xyz Monsters with the same Rank.
----
* DualWielding: Utopic Future, similar like the Utopia monsters.
* {{Expy}}: Utopic ZEXAL is just the Shining and manga version of Utopic Future, mixed with Yuma's ZEXAL II mode.
* FireForgedFriends: When Utopic Future fights a monster, the player gains control of the enemy monster until the end of the Battle Phase, which reflects how Yuma befriends people.
* {{Foil}}:
** Utopic Future is this to Number 99: Utopic Dragon. Utopic Dragon is the ultimate evolution of Number 39: Utopia, but it is summoned by Astral, not Yuma. Yuma's Utopic Future is his answer to Utopic Dragon, since Utopic Future is the replacement of Utopia. Utopic Dragon has 4000 ATK and 2000 DEF, is a Rank 10 monster, and has an effect that revives a monster from the graveyard and it has another effect that negates cards that would make it leave the field and destroys every other monsters to burn opponent's LP equal to their total ATK, while Utopic Future is a Rank 0 (then Rank 1) monster with 0 ATK and DEF, and it befriends an enemy by fighting it. Both are also non-Utopia cards. and in their real life versions, Utopic Dragon can be summoned with a Utopia monster, while Utopic Future cannot be summoned with Utopia.
** He's also, oddly enough, a foil to Ultimaya Tzolkin of the Dark Synchro Monsters. Both are cards with black borders, but Ultimaya is a Dark Synchro Monster (and a regular Synchro Monster in real life, which would mean its border color is white, the opposite of Utopic Future's Xyz black), and Utopic Future is an Xyz Monster. Both have 0 ATK, but counterbalance it with effects that make them hard to get rid of. Both lack a Rank or Level, respectively, and in their real life versions, they require two monsters of the same Rank/Level, and Ultimaya is always treated as Level 12, while Utopic Future is treated as Rank 1. They also both have effects that rely on other monsters to fight for them. However, Ultimaya is a DARK Dragon-Type monster and the final ace of a main villain, while Utopic Future is a LIGHT Warrior-Type monster and the final ace of a main hero.
* LightIsGood: They are Yuma's latest ace cards in the anime and manga.
* MyHeroZero: Utopic Future's Number is 0, he has 0 ATK and DEF, the Battle Damage is reduced to 0 when this card battles, and he is even Rank 0. However, when he's played, he is considered as a Rank 1 monster. Utopic ZEXAL is also Number 0 and Rank 0 with 0 ATK and DEF, although he does gain ATK based on the number of Xyz Materials attached to him.
* NighInvulnerability: Utopic Future card cannot be destroyed by battle and the player doesn't get Battle Damage.
* NoSell: Utopic Future can survive being destroyed by a card effect by detaching an Xyz Material.
* PersonalityPowers: Their stats and effects resemble Yuma's AllLovingHero character.
* PokemonSpeak: Like most of Yuma's monsters.
--> '''Utopic Future:''' "HOOOOOOOPE!"
* WeakButSkilled: Despite having 0 ATK and DEF, Utopic Future can be really troublesome for the opponent.
* WingedHumanoid: Like the Utopia monsters, Utopic Future has wings. Four wings.

[[caption-width-right:350:From left to right:Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon and Starve Venom Fusion Dragon]]
The Four Dimension Dragons are a series of Dragon-Type Monsters introduced in ''Anime/YuGiOhArcV''. They are used by Yuya Sakaki and his dimensional counterparts: Yuto, Yugo and Yuri. They are the representative monsters of the Four Dimensions.
----
* AmbiguousGender: Their genders are not directly stated in the show. The real-life ''Pendulum Evolution'' structure deck hints at their genders by introducing Magicians that seem to be humanized versions of the dragons. Odd-Eyes, Dark Rebellion and Starving Venom are represented as males, while Clear Wing is represented by a female.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: No one really knows what is going on with the dragons. They are loyal to their masters but at the same time they're the cause for the Dragon Boys horrifying powers and seem to desire to be in the same place, which nearly caused the four Dragon Boys to fuse. [[spoiler:Then we learn that they destroyed the Original Dimension but it was done as revenge against the blood-thirsty audience.]]
* AllYourPowersCombined:
** Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon is the mix of Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, this is seen as the monster is an Xyz Pendulum Monster. [[spoiler:Then there is its inverted counterpart, Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon, which combines the power of darkness, the flames of Odd-Eyes and the lightning of Dark Rebellion]].
** [[spoiler:Odd-Eyes Venom Dragon is the mix between Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Starve Venom Fusion Dragon, this monster is a Fusion Pendulum Monster.]]
** [[spoiler:Odd-Eyes Wing Dragon is the mix between Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, this monster is a Synchro Pendulum Monster.]]
** [[spoiler:Taken to up eleven when we learn the dragons were once fused into one being with their original owner, Zarc]]
* BattleAura: Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon is surrounded by a [[CastingAShadow dark]] aura when it uses its Monster Effect.
* BellyMouth: [[spoiler:Supreme King Dragon Starve Venom has one.]]
* BerserkButton: The dragons are this to ''each other''. This also affects their wielders.
* BodyMotifs: Although it's less obvious with Dark Rebellion, each of the dragons is associated with a specific body part: the eyes for Odd-Eyes, the fangs for Dark Rebellion and Starve Venom Fusion Dragon, and the wings for Clear Wing. Each part is also mentioned in the dragon's summoning chant.
--> "Appear now with your wondrous and beautiful dichromatic '''eyes'''. Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!"
--> "'''Fangs''' of pitch-black darkness, rise up against the foolish oppression! Descend now! Xyz Summon! Come forth! Rank 4! Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon!"
--> "Spread those wondrous and beautiful '''wings''', and strike down our enemies at lightspeed! Synchro Summon! Come forth! Level 7! Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!"
-->"Beautiful flowers that tempt insects with your enchanting fragrance, become one now, and let the hell locked within your petals give birth to a new menace! Fusion Summon! Come forth! The starving dragon bearing venomous '''fangs'''! Level 8! Starve Venom Fusion Dragon!"
* BondCreatures: They are this for their respective Dragon Boy and as a whole for [[spoiler:Zarc]]
* ColorCodedCharacters: Each of the Dragons have a color attached to them. Odd-Eyes has red, Dark Rebellion has blue, Clear Wing has green and Starve Venom has purple.
* DarkIsEvil: Starve Venom Fusion Dragon, the dragon of [[EvilCounterpart Yuri]] is a DARK monster, is the most vicious one of the four. [[spoiler:Although, Odd-Eyes Dragon and Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon used to be evil when they were under Zarc's possession. Though at the end of the series it's averted with all four being under Yuya's guidance.]]
* DarkIsNotEvil: Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, the least violent of the four is a DARK monster. While Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon is more aggressive, it is ultimately still on the good guys' side. [[spoiler:At the of the series, this is true for all four dragons.]]
* EvilCounterpart:
** Starve Venom Fusion Dragon to Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon. Starve Venom looks like a corrupted and twisted version of Odd-Eyes.
** [[spoiler:Supreme King Dragon Zarc to Shooting Quasar Dragon. They are both made up of the their respective series' dragons, the Four Dimensional Dragons for Zarc and the Signer Dragons for Shooting Quasar. But while Shooting Quasar is the final ace of Yusei, the protagonist of 5D's, Zarc is the BigBad of the series.]]
** With the exception of Darkwurm, the Supreme King Dragon archetype is this to all of them.
* {{Expy}}:
** The Dragon's relationship with each other and how they interact with each other is very similar to the Signer Dragons.
** Clear Wing is one to Stardust Dragon, they are both white, WIND Synchro Dragon-Type monsters with 2500 attack points, whose effects are about protection.
* GreenAndMean: [[spoiler:The Supreme King Dragon versions have green stripes and are under the control of Zarc]]
* HeelFaceTurn: Downplayed as the Dragons were never truly evil. [[spoiler:But by the end of the series all four have decided to not fuse as Supreme King Dragon Zarc and work with Yuya to once again make everyone smile.]]
* HiddenDepths: [[spoiler:Episode 146 reveals that the Dragons are scared of Ray and her revival.]]
* HunterOfTheirOwnKind: [[spoiler:In the anime, each of the Supreme King Dragon versions of the Dimension Dragons are this for their own summon type. They are Special Summoned if the opponent use their summon type and they can be returned to the Extra Deck to make the ATK of opponent's monster of that summoning type 0.]]
* JealousPet: After Yuya is able to fend off Reiji's continuous attacks in episode 147 with [[spoiler:Dark Rebellion, Clear Wing and Starve Venom]], Odd-Eyes gets jealous that Yuya has to take the time to say he hasn't forgotten Odd-Eyes.
* LighterAndSofter: Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon seems to be this in comparison to the other ace cards of previous protagonists. Unlike the others, Odd-Eyes Pendulum seems to have a comedic side, as shown in the first opening where it enjoys the ride with Yuya. It notably has some comedic moments, like [[ItMakesSenseInContext when it happily ate a lot of spaghetti or when it had a very cartoonish looking smiling face]]. This, however, [[LetsGetDangerous doesn't apply to its evolutions]] [[spoiler:The reveal that Odd-Eyes willingly destroyed a dimension averts this trope though.]].
* NotSoStoic: The dragons are generally quiet and imposing, but will have moments where they display more emotions. Odd-Eyes can occasionally be spotted smiling during a duel, and he gets jealous when Yuya compliments the other dragons. Dark Rebellion also smiles when Yuya plays Miracle Rocket Show and lets him ride inside a rocket.
* OffModel: Like Ra before it, Odd-Eyes' beak-shaped jaws means that it frequently suffers from this in normal animation, though it's absent in its CG model.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent:
** Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon's body resemble that of a dinosaur and unlike the others, it lacks wings. It's also the only one so far with a BreathWeapon.
** Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon has a more humanoid shape and large mechanical wings that can unfold.
** Clear Wing Synchro Dragon has very short legs and multiple wings that appear to fitted with circuitry.
** Starve Venom Fusion Dragon has a serpentine body shape, but possesses arms and legs. Its silhouette has been compared to [[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Kaiser_Dragon Kaiser Dragon]], and it's since been revealed to possess a vaguely humanoid shape, with a more plant-like appearance and multiple sets of jaws all over its body.
* OverratedAndUnderleveled: They are said to be the strongest monsters of their respective summon types. While the four are definitely strong monsters, they're not really believable as the strongest of an entire summoning class. [[spoiler:Averted by Zarc's "Supreme King Dragon" variants of the four, which are much more powerful, including the ability to summon themselves on the opponent's turn, and return themselves to the Extra Deck to summon two replacement monsters (setting up the summon of another one of them immediately) and sap the ATK of all enemy monsters of the same summoning type to 0. As Zarc demonstrates by effortlessly beating a gauntlet of the heroes, a properly built deck focused on them can shut down pretty much any attempt you make to fight against them, proving their reputation is well-deserved.]]
* PaletteSwap: With the exception of Darkwurm, the Supreme King Dragons are this to each of them.
* PoisonIsEvil: Starve Venom is the most vicious dragon.
* PowerCopying: Starve Venom and its Supreme King Dragon counterpart can duplicate the effects of opposing monsters for themselves.
* RedIsViolent: [[spoiler:Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon feels like it was designed with this trope in mind. It's a bright red dragon that's effect will nuke the field and it gains power from said destruction. Both times Yuya used it has resulted in mass destruction from the surrounding field. In fact Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon's title is The Supreme King ''Violent'' Dragon.]]
* TheRival: None of these Dragons likes each other, as shown when Odd-Eyes and Dark Rebellion were first summoned against each other. They tried to brutally destroy each other.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: [[spoiler:In the Original Dimension, the dragons were sick and tired of being slaves that did nothing but battle for the entertainment of humans. They grew to hate humanity except Zarc and attempted to destroy all of humanity in revenge.]]
* SkeletonsInTheCoatCloset: [[spoiler:Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon has bone designs on his body.]]
* SuperiorSuccessor: Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon to Odd-Eyes Dragon, and Yuya arguably to Zarc eventually.
* TakingYouWithMe: [[spoiler:Starving Venom Fusion Dragon third effect destroys all of the opponent's Special Summoned monsters ([[InformedAbility though it never actually sees any use]]), and Greedy Venom Fusion Dragon's second effect destroys every monster on the field when it's destroyed.]]
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: As stated before the Dragons don't like each other but when Yuya uses Dark Rebellion and Odd-Eyes at the same time, they can work together.
* TeleportersAndTransporters: Clear Wing can teleport Yugo and his D-Wheel, but he doesn't have control on where he's going.
* TookALevelInBadass: Odd-Eyes took a permanent one when it transformed from Odd-Eyes Dragon to Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon.
** Odd-Eyes also has Rune-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Beast-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon, [[spoiler:Brave-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon]].
** Dark Rebellion has Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon, [[spoiler:Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon and Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon.]]
** Clear Wing has Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon.
** Starve Venom has Greedy Venom Fusion Dragon.
** [[spoiler:Since Zarc's revival, he's revealed even stronger versions of them as Supreme King Dragons.]]
* TookALevelInKindness: During Yuya's last duel with Jack, [[spoiler: Yuya is able to purify the monsters and help them let go of their anger.]] Yuya's next duel solidifies this, as [[spoiler: the dragons work with him in an Action Duel.]]
* TooManyMouths: Starve Venom is a horrifying monstrosity with eyes and mouths everywhere.
* UniformityException: Each of the dragon has something it doesn't share with the others.
** Odd-Eyes is the sole dragon who is placed in the Main Deck instead of the Extra Deck, although it can be placed in the Extra Deck due to its nature as a Pendulum Monster.
** Dark Rebellion is an Xyz Monster and thus has a Rank instead of a Level.
** Clear Wing is a WIND monster, unlike the other three who are DARK monsters.
** Starve Venom has 2800 ATK, unlike the other three who have 2500. Its Level is also 8 instead of 7 like Odd-Eyes and Clear Wing.
* WhatBeautifulEyes: The Japanese summoning chants for Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and its evolutions always emphasize the eyes.
-->''"Today's main attraction, the rare dragon with differently colored eyes! '''Odd-Eyes Dragon!'''"''\\
''"Appear! Wondrous and beautiful dichromatic eyes! '''Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!'''"''\\
''"Come forth! The ferocious dragon with luminous feral eyes! '''Beast-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!'''"''\\
''"Courageous dragon burning with sublime eyes! '''Brave-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!'''"''\\
''"Come forth, Rank 7! Dragon whose eyes glitter with rage! '''Supreme King Black Dragon - Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon!'''"''
* WorldsStrongestMan: Each of the Dragons are said to be the strongest of their respective summoning method.
* WreathedInFlames: [[spoiler:Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon's body and its controller are wreathed in flames when it attacks.]]

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/en_cards.png]]
Four continuous spell cards themed after the Kachofugetsu that were created by Leo Akaba to oppose Zarc, the BigBad of ''Anime/YuGiOhArcV''. They were used by Leo's daughter Ray and are the origin of the four bracelets worn by her fragments.
----
* AntiMagic: Their function. They were created to counter Zarc's power and they work perfectly.
* AchillesHeel: Pendulum Monsters are outside of the En Card's effects as their effects are not negated by the En cards, they are sent to the extra deck when destroyed so the user doesn't take damage when they are destroyed and most importantly they can be revived. Zarc invoked this as he created Pendulum Summoning after losing to Ray.
* BroughtDownToNormal: En Moon, En Winds and En Birds have the ability to turn all Fusion, Synchro and Xyz monsters, respectively, that are on the field, in the graveyard or are banished into normal monsters while also negating their effects.
* TheCorruption: Inversion. Ray states the cards breakdown all power and returns them into a pure existence.
* DifficultButAwesome: The cards themselves. They need all four to be activated to be useful and En Birds needs 3 or more Xyz monsters in the graveyard and En Flowers to activate. En Winds needs 3 or more Synchro monsters in the graveyard and both En Birds and En Flowers to activate. En Moon needs 3 or more Fusion monsters in the graveyard and the other three en cards to activate. But they are the only cards that can take down Zarc.
* FountainOfYouth: As Ray and Reiji explain the En Cards purify everything around them which includes the user and the target and in the case of humans, they're turned into babies.
* GoodCounterpart: To the Dimension Dragons. They were created by Leo to counter them.
* KillThemAll: All together the four En Cards destroys all of your opponent's monsters and damages the opponent 600 points of damage for each monster destroyed and sent to the graveyard.
* PetalPower: Whenever En Flower's destructive effect happens, petals start to fall.
* PowerNullifier: Each of the four card have the ability to negate the effects of monsters.
* ThemeNaming: Each of the four cards's name starts with "En" followed by the aspect of the Kachofugetsu it represents.
* VillainBeatingArtifact: Leo created these cards to defeat Zarc after he proved too powerful for the residents of Original Dimension to defeat. It should be stated that due to their incredibly difficult activation requirements, it takes a very skilled duelist to use them effectively as seen when Leo failed to do so in episode 139.

The G.O.D cards are level 10 Pendulum monsters with 0 Pendulum Scales that debuted in the ARC-V manga. All of them came from the power of the Genesis Omega Dragon whose power was split thanks to Adam's experiments, one part becoming the Adam Factor and another part of it manifested in the Yuya's timeline as a card. \\\

Eve is the holder of the Genesis Omega Dragon card while the other two cards are created from the Adam Factor wielded between Yuya and Reiji. Yuya creates the ''G.O.D.-Eyes Phantom Dragon'' with his brothers' sacrifice and Reiji manifests the ''Divine Go-D/D/D Zero King Zero G.O.D. Reiji'' card with Adam's help.

----
!!! Tropes associated with the G.O.D cards:
* AllYourPowersCombined: G.O.D.-Eyes Phantom Dragon is the combination of Yuto, Yuri, and Yugo's monsters with the Adam Factor inside Yuya.
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: Divine Go-D/D/D Zero King Zero G.O.D. Reiji. Reiji's name also translates to "''Zero'' Child", so it can be interpreted as having three Zeroes and two G.O.D. in its name.[[note]]Reiji is spelled out in Katakana instead of Kanji, so its English name is translated to ''Rage'' instead.[[/note]]
* {{Expy}}: The G.O.D series is the Pendulum equivalent of the Egyptian God Cards since they have the same level, similar card effects and divine powers, but instead of protecting the world like what the Egyptian God Cards had done in the first series, Genesis Omega Dragon sought to destroy the world to prevent civilization from advancing.
** Genesis Omega Dragon is similar to Slifer in having a serpentine lower half and no ATK/DEF outside of the one granted by their effects. Said effects are also similar in that they provide an increase of a 1000 ATK. Since Genesis Omega Dragon is the source of the the other two G.O.D. cards, it can also be considered the "leader" of its trio similar to The Winged Dragon of Ra.
** G.O.D.-Eyes Phantom Dragon can be seen as one to The Winged Dragon of Ra as both are draconic monsters that gain ATK based on the monsters that were tributed to summon them. It also takes elements from Slifer such as its lack of legs and being the god card used by the protagonist.
** Divine Go-D/D/D Zero King Zero G.O.D. Reiji is an obvious one to Obelisk as they are the only humanoid members of their repective trio, used by the protagonist's rival and have effects that require tributing monsters to activate.
* FunWithAcronyms: Genesis Omega Dragon's acronyms are spelled as G.O.D., and it also signifies its god-like powers to manipulate time and space.
* GenericDoomsdayVillain: The only known reason why the Genesis Omega Dragon wants to destroy countless worlds is that the makers behind the card designed it so for personal satisfaction and greed.
* JackassGenie: Genesis Omega Dragon grants anyone's desire by offering them a timeline where the horrible events never happened, but it comes at the cost of serving it after their lives had ended. This is also how it destroys worlds, it gives the worlds what they desire and the happiness they feel [[LotusEaterMachine stagnates the worlds until civilization dies out.]]
--> '''Genesis Omega Dragon''': I am the being that grants happiness to all in this universe! And I lead all to despair!
* LargeAndInCharge: All of them are massive beings that tower over everything after being summoned into the field.
* OneHitKill: Zero G.O.D Reiji's special ability is if it successfully attacks the opponent, their life points drop to 0.
* OverlyLongName: Divine Go-D/D/D Zero King Zero G.O.D. Reiji is one of the longest card names with 43 characters in it.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Genesis Omega Dragon can destroy monsters on the field up to the number of cards in the player's pendulum zone once per turn. Outside of battles, it already destroyed countless worlds and revealed to have destroyed Yuya's timeline just from manifesting from it's card.
* PowerNullifier: Genesis Omega Dragon can place one pendulum card from the hand, deck, or extra deck to a pendulum zone, negate an attack or effect and immediately end the turn if it is targetted by an attack.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Zero King wears a huge scarf that is reminiscent of Reiji's own cool scarf.
* StatusBuff:
** At the start of every turn, Genesis Omega Dragon gains 1000 attack points.
** G.O.D.-Eyes Phantom Dragon gains 1000 attack points for each dragon pendulum monster used for its special summon and the other battling monster [[StatusEffects loses the same attack points.]]
* TimeMaster: Alongside SpaceMaster. Their card effects emulate time and space manipulation by either manipulating the player phase and gaining attack points per turn to placing or removing cards from the field.
** G.O.D.-Eyes Phantom Dragon has the ability to skip the opponent's turn and move to the next Battle Phase if its attack is negated.
** Genesis Omega Dragon can immediately end the turn, among other effects, once the opponents target it with an attack.

Ace monsters of Yusaku Fujiki; they are Cyberse-Type LINK-3 Link Monsters with 2300 ATK. Each has a different Attribute and weapon. He acquired all of them through the use of his skill Storm Access with Decode Talker being the most prominent, as it is the first card that he got through that skill. They all have effects that empower themselves or their allies through Linking with them.
----
* AdvertisedExtra: All six of them appear in the second opening "Go Forward", but only Shootingcode Talker (who debuted in that season) appeared until the duel between Playmaker and [[spoiler: Kolter]]. Decode Talker returns during the duel along with a new form; Extended Decode Talker. Code Talker, Encode Talker and Transcode Talker show up in Playmaker's final duel with Bohman.
* ArcherArchetype: Shootingcode Talker carries a large bow.
* BackFromTheDead: Transcode Talker can revive LINK-3 or lower Cyberse monsters.
* {{BFG}}: Transcode Talker carries one of these.
* {{BFS}}: Decode Talker carries a massive one that gets bigger as its effect pumps up its ATK.
* BigDamnHeroes: Variably, they are all created triumphantly with Storm Access to curbstomp the otherwise killer combo that was being leveled against Yusaku.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Decode Talker is DARK-Attribute, but firmly on the side of good.
* DemotedToExtra: It seems Yusaku retired their usage in Season 2 in favor of using other summoning methods.
* {{Expy}}: As a 2300 ATK, Warrior-esque monster that can increase its own ATK, and is the first focused but not true ace monster of the protagonist, and [[spoiler: the card that deals the finishing blow in the final duel of their respective series]], Decode Talker is one for Junk Warrior. The series as a whole seem to be this for Yusei's Warriors, which were variable Attributes themselves, but are not his primary ace.
* GoodCounterpart: Encode Talker is white, [[LightIsGood LIGHT]]-Attribute, and carries a shield rather than a {{BFS}}.
* LaserBlade: Decode Talker's greatsword appears to be one, and Excode Talker's shields conceal energy switchblades.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Encode Talker carries a shield, while Excode Talker has small shields on each arm with hidden switchblades.
* NoSell: A common theme with their effects.
** Decode Talker can Tribute monsters that it points to in order to negate card effects that target its controller's cards.
** Encode Talker can protect a monster from being destroyed in battle and reduce damage to zero.
** Transcode and Excode Talkers can both prevent monsters from being destroyed by effects.
* OutOfFocus: Happens to them in season 2 including Decode Talker! The only Code talker he used is the sixth and last Code Talker, Shootingcode Talker which Yusaku also gained in that season. Though later on, Decode Talker, Encode Talker, Code Talker, Transcode Talker and the new monster Extended Decode Talker show up.
** Somehow in season 3 this manage to happen to Decode Talker depite being heavilly advertised in the season's openning theme song, and it being used to end the duel. Decode Talker is summoned early, does nothing of note before its destroyed in a battle against Dark Templar, and is used to fusion summon Cyberse Clock Dragon. It proceed to go absent for the entire duel until the very last turn. The spotlight during the duel is mostly split between Firewall Dragon Darkfluid, Cyberse Clock Dragon, the EleventhHourSuperpower [[spoiler:Accesscode Talker]], and.... Borreload Furious Dragon.
* PowerNullifier: Powercode Talker can negate the effect of one monster on the field.
* PowerOfFriendship: All of them have effects that gives them or other monsters power through Linking.
* TheWorfEffect: Usually happens to Decode Talker in order to show that Playmaker needs another monster (usually another Code Talker) to defeat his opponent.

Yusaku Fujiki's true ace monster, created with Storm Access during his second duel with Revolver. It primarily focuses on defense, replacing monsters that it pointed to with new ones from the hand, but it has a single-use effect that allows it to blow away the opponent's cards for the number of monsters it's co-Linked with.

In Season 2 it gets an Xyz counterpart and support called Firewall eXceed Dragon which is also Yusaku's ace Xyz Monster in Season 2. Xceed Dragon can summon a LINK-4 Cyberse-Type Link Monster such as Firewall Dragon from the GY in a way they are Linked by detaching 2 overlay units and also gains 500 ATK for every Link Markers the Link Monsters it's Linked to have.

In the climax of season 2, it gets an upgrade called Firewall Dragon Darkfluid created from the powers of the Ignis as a last resort to defeat Bohman. Darkfluid is a LINK-5 monster who gets counters equal to the different card types Yusaku has in his GY and then gets 2500 ATK from each of them. It's able to remove one counter to negate an opponent's effect and attack once more.
----
* AllYourPowersCombined: Darkfluid was created from the powers of the five Ignis absorbed by Bohman.
** In terms of gameplay function, Darkfuid also serves as this for Yusaku's alternative summoning method ace monster since it requires a Cyberse monster of different summon type to fuel its effect. As a result, everytime Darkfluid is summoned into the field, Cyberse Clock Dragoon, Firewall eXceed Dragon, Cyberse Quantum Dragon, and Cyberse Magician is also in the graveyard.
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: The other alternative summoning methods monsters were either evolutions of Main Deck monsters or standalone. Firewall eXceed Dragon breaks that mold by being a counterpart to Firewall Dragon, lacking the attack and effect limiting effect the others have, lacking a LINK-2 Link Monster to support it [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and lacking "Cyberse" in its name]].
* BreakingOldTrends: This is the first Ace Monster with 2500 ATK to not have DEF since it's a Link Monster and not to be a Warrior or Dragon-Type monster, but a Cyberse-Type instead, breaking the trend that Spin-Off protagonists have those types as their ace monster.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Firewall eXceed Dragon looks like a DarkerAndEdgier version of the original Firewall Dragon.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Firewall eXceed Dragon and Firewall Dragon Darkfluid are both a DARK-Attribute like many of Yusaku's other ace monsters, but is just as heroic as its original counterpart.
* DemotedToExtra:
** As a 20th Anniversary promo, Konami released a small batch of all the Yu-Gi-Oh protagonists' signature Monsters with revamped art. These included Yugi's Dark Magician, Judai's Elemental HERO Neos, Yusei's Stardust Dragon, Yuma's Number 39: Utopia, Yuya's Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, and Yusaku's...Decode...Talker.[[note]]Admittedly, Firewall Dragon had been released in the previous year's version.[[/note]]
** In a sense subverted in the anime. While the original Firewall Dragon's last appearance in the anime is on episode 82, eXceed Dragon and Darkfluid replace it and both appear in the finale of season 2 and season 3, being a key player in both.
* EleventhHourSuperpower: Firewall Dragon Darkfluid made its appearance at the finale of season 2, after which season 3 is far shorter than season 2 and Yusaku only had 1 proper duel in the series. Essentially Darkfluid only appeared at the very end of the series.
* GoodCounterpart: Darkfluid is this to Bohman's Dragrid and Perfectron. They are both LINK-5 monsters that never existed before, but while Dragrid and Perfectron were created by the Ignis and consciousness Bohman forcefully absorbed, Darklfuid was created by the power the Ignis willingly gave to Ai.
* LightIsGood: It is LIGHT-Attribute as opposed to Revolver's DARK-attribute [[{{Foil}} Borrelload Dragon.]]
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: All Firewall Dragons resemble Dragon-Type monsters, but are actually Cyberse-Type.
* OutOfFocus: Despite being Yusaku's Ace Monster, compared to the other ace monsters of the protagonist, Firewall Dragon was only used in ''three'' duels in Season 1. Other Ace Monsters for comparison were pretty much used in every duel after they acquired them and got tons of support cards that specifically require them or in some cases even got an entire archetype specifically created for them. To make it even worse it got banned in real life in both formats for a year before it was given an errata to [[{{Nerf}} it's effects]] and finally unbanned in the OCG.
* PersonalityPowers: Firewalls oppose malicious software; Yusaku is protecting LINK VRAINS from the Knights of Hanoi.
* PowerOfFriendship:
** Firewall Dragon's recursion effect replaces fallen pointed allies, while its bounce effect requires it to be Co-Linked to other monsters.
** eXceed Dragon also focuses on this since not only does it resurrect a LINK-4 Monster like the original Firewall Dragon in a way they are Linked, but it also gains 500 ATK times the Link Rating of monsters it's Linked to.
** Darkfluid doesn't have effects that require linking but instead draws powers from his fallen allies to gain huge attack capability.
* TooAwesomeToUse: Combined with how many Cyberse Monsters search each other out, Firewall Dragon's effects make it insipidly easy to swarm the field with Link Monsters thanks to the steady influx of materials flowing and bouncing back into the hand and onto the board. That said, it makes writing duels involving it incredibly difficult, so Yusaku tends to summon Code Talkers even though he has the means to bring out Firewall Dragon. In the actual game, this monster was outright limited due to the aforementioned reason, and is taken even further when, as of the December 3, 2018 update to the TCG banlist, Firewall has been outright banned. Not more than a week later, it was announced that it would be forbidden in the OCG as well starting January 2019.
* XMakesAnythingCool: Firewall '''X'''ceed Dragon has a notable X theme around it.

[[caption-width-right:249:Kurikurilink...]]

One of the many Cyberse Monsters created by the Ignis. Ai is fond of him and likes to ride on its back. Linkuriboh is also one of the very few survivors of the Cyberse World. After reuniting with Ai, it is given to Yusaku in order to help him fight against Bohman's faction that stole Jin's consciousness and destroyed the Cyberse World.

Its effect allows it to Tribute itself in order to drop an attacking monster's ATK to 0 and allows itself to resurrect from the GY by tributing a level 1 Monster Card.
----
* BreakingOldTrends: It's the first Kuriboh monster to be an Extra Deck Monster instead of a Main Deck Monster.
* DarkIsEvil: [[spoiler:According to the dub, Linguriboh actually ''is'' Linkuriboh with a new set of effects, and he has a perpetual frown on his face.]]
* DarkIsNotEvil: It is DARK-Attribute, but it's on the side of good and it has a happy and innocent disposition which is reflected in its effect which is defensive.
* EvilKnockoff:
** Windy and Lightning probably created one to lure Ai to them.
** In Season 3, once Ai himself becomes an antagonist, he replaces Linkuriboh with Linguriboh, which looks identical to it, with a darker color palette and frowning eyes. Although it is rather ambiguous if it is another monster or if it is just a modified Linkuriboh. [[spoiler: The dub goes with the latter as Ai outright calls him "Linky" just as he did Linkuriboh.]]
* {{Expy}}: To the original Kuriboh, but it's the first extra deck Kuriboh Monster.
* ItsPersonal: This is probably the reason why Linkuriboh is always used in a duel against Bohman, because he was the one who destroyed its home thus leaving Linkuriboh as the SoleSurvivor.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: Unlike the rest of the Monsters in the Kuriboh archetype, which are mostly composed of Fiend-Types, Linkuriboh is a Cyberse-Type.
* PokemonSpeak: It can only say "kurikurilink" and not even Ai (who is probably its creator) can understand it.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: It's a Kuriboh Monster, what did you expect?
* SoleSurvivor: It was one of the very few (if not the only) survivors of the Cyberse World by the time Ai revisits it after he was released by Yusaku in the finale of the first season.
* SpannerInTheWorks: It always plays this role in Playmaker's duels against Bohman. It usually foils Bohman's attempts at victory by lowering his attacking monster's ATK to 0, thus making the attack useless or in the second duel its presence allows Cyberse Clock Dragon to use its effect and prevent Bohman from activating his monster's effect. That time it was actually lampshaded a bit by Ai who was surprised to know Playmaker had a Link Monster on the field only to see Linkuriboh jumping happily as if saying "It was me!".
* UndyingLoyalty: To Ai.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Come Season 3, Ai underwent a FaceHeelTurn and replaced Linkuriboh with Linguriboh, an EvilKnockoff. The former is never seen again in the series and no mention is made as to what became of it. What relation the two monsters have to each other beyond physical appearance, and if they are even the same entity at all, is also not elaborated upon.

Yusaku Fujiki's ace Ritual Monster in Season 2. He is the evolution of Cyberse Wizard, one of Yusaku's most prominently used cards.

He has many effects which include limiting your opponents attacks and effects to only itself when Yusaku controls a Link Monster, gains 1000 ATK whenever it battles a Link Monster, halving all the damage you take and Yusaku can even add a Cyberse-Type Monster to his hand from the deck in case he's destroyed by a card effect.

He's supported by Cyberse Witch, a LINK-2 Link Monster with 800 ATK whose effect allows Yusaku to add a Cyberse-Type Ritual Monster and Cynet Ritual to his hand by banishing a Spell Card from the GY whenever a monster is special summoned to a zone its Link Markers are pointing to and then allowing him to special summon a level 4 or lower monster from the GY making it much easier to summon Cyberse Magician and allow him to use its attack and effect limiting effect.
----
* AwesomeButImpractical: Normally Cyberse Magician would be this, because Ritual Monsters Require itself in the hand and a Ritual Spell along with enough Monsters to tribute in order to summon them forcing the player to create a deck centered around it, but Cyberse Witch was created to avert this, because her effect allows Yusaku to add Cyberse Magician and Cynet Ritual while also summoning the monsters needed to tribute making it much easier to summon Cyberse Magician.
* BreakingOldTrends: In a weird way Cyberse Magician is a combination of this and RevisitingTheRoots. He is the first Ritual Monster to be used by a protagonist for a long time making him a trend breaker that spin-off protagonists don't use Ritual Monsters, but the first and only protagonist who used Ritual Monsters was Yugi from the original series until Yusaku Ritual Summoned Cyberse Magician also making him a revisit to the roots.
* DarkIsNotEvil: He along with Cyberse Witch are DARK-Attribute, but is on the side of good.
* DeathActivatedSuperPower: His fourth effect is activated when he's destroyed by a card effect.
* {{Expy}}: He's one towards the Dark Magician. They both have "Magician" in their name, wield a MagicStaff, his attack is called "Cyberse Magic" just like how Dark Magician's attack is named "Black Magic"[[note]]Dark Magician's original name is "Black Magician"[[/note]] and his pose in the card mirrors the pose of the original artwork of the Dark Magician.
* EyeBeams: His defensive effect, Cyberse Architect, which halves all the damage Yusaku takes is shown by shooting lasers out of his visor like ComicBook/{{Cyclops}} in order to weaken the attack.
* {{Foil}}: Towards Cyberse Clock Dragon. They are both Yusaku's new ace monsters that share the same Attribute, Type, ATK, DEF, Level and even the first effect introduced in Season 2.
** They are both summoned with an old summoning method that uses a Spell card, but while Cyberse Magician is a Ritual Monster, Cyberse Clock Dragon is a Fusion Monster.
*** Also Ritual Summon is the summoning method that is used the least out of them all in the entire franchise, but Fusion Summon is arguably the summoning method that is used the most often.
** They are supported with a LINK-2 Link monster with 800 ATK and the effect to get the Spell Card and Materials they need to summon it. Cyberse Magician's Link Monster, Cyberse Witch, can't be used for his summon, because Cyberse Witch doesn't have a Level, but Cyberse Clock Dragon's Link Monster, Clock Spartoi, can be used as a Material for its summon.
** They both have an effect that allows Yusaku to add a card from his deck to his hand when they are destroyed by a card effect and have the same attack and effect limiting effect when Yusaku controls a Link Monster along with other effects. However Cyberse Magician searches for Cyberse-Type Monster card and has two effects separate from each other, but Cyberse Clock Dragon searches for a Spell Card and only has one other effect.
*** Also while Cyberse Clock Dragon's effect can be used best as a finishing move to end the duel, Cyberse Magician's effect can be used to prolong the duel.
** This even applies to their pre-evolutions, Cyberse Wizard and Clock Wyvern.
*** They both share the same Type, Level and ATK. However Cyberse Wizard is a monster card that was often used by Yusaku in Season 1, while Clock Wyvern is a monster card he only recently started using in Season 2.
*** Cyberse Wizard isn't necessarily needed as a Material for Cyberse Magician's Ritual Summon, but Clock Wyvern is necessary as a Fusion Material for Cyberse Clock Dragon's Fusion Summon.
* HotWitch: Not at the level of the Dark Magician Girl, but Cyberse Witch looks quite hot thanks to her pretty face and skin tight outfit.
* LightIsGood: Cyberse Wizard is a LIGHT-Attribute and was used in Yusaku's battle against the Knights of Hanoi.
* MagicStaff: He wields one which it uses to attack with. Taken even further in Playmaker's third duel against Bohman in which Playmaker equips three different Equip Spells which are all different kind of staffs. At one point it was even DualWielding them!
** His pre-evolution, Cyberse Wizard, and Cyberse Witch also wield one, but theirs is thinner compared to his.
* OneWayVisor: His visor shoots lasers! Unlike most examples this isn't an offensive attack, but a defensive effect.
* ShesGotLegs: Cyberse Witch's legs are noticeably long which shows through her skin tight outfit.
* TokenHuman: Of the alternative summon Ace Monster's Yusaku uses, Cyberse Magician is currently the only one to look human while the other ones are dragons.
* TookALevelInBadass: Cyberse Wizard's effect was only useful against non-Link Monsters since they can't be placed in Defense mode. Cyberse Magician on the other hand has many effects and an effect that counters Link Monsters.
* TheWorfEffect: Despite being the first alternative summon ace Monster used by Playmaker, he was never able to finish of the opponent and usually gets destroyed, making place for a new Monster that will finish the duel instead.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Cyberse Magician and it's pre-evolution have green hair while Cyberse Witch has pink hair.

Yusaku Fujiki's ace Fusion Monster in Season 2. It is the evolution of Clock Wyvern, another monster introduced in Season 2.

Just like Cyberse Magician it has an effect that prevents opponents from targeting your monsters from attacks and card effects except for itself when Yusaku controls a Link Monster. Its other effect allows you to send cards from the top of the deck equal to the total Link Rating of the Link Monsters used as Fusion Material and gain 1000 ATK points for every card sent to the GY. And it can add a Spell Card to the hand from the deck in case it's destroyed by a card effect.

It's supported by two LINK-2 Link Monsters, Clock Spartoi and Clock Lizard. Clock Spartoi was acquired through Storm Access. It has the same ATK as Cyberse Witch and its effect allows Yusaku to add Cynet Fusion to his hand whenever Clock Spartoi is special summoned and when a Monster is special summoned to a zone its Link Markers points to, it can special summon a Level 4 or lower monster to its zone, but with its effect negated and limiting the Extra Deck summons to only Fusion. Clock Lizard's effect allows itself to be tributed in order to return a Fusion Monster from the GY to the Extra Deck and then Fusion Summon it by banishing the Fusion Materials from the GY. It then lowers the ATK of Monsters that the opponent special summoned by 400 for every Cyberse-Type Monster in the GY making this card more of a backup in case Cyberse Clock Dragon got destroyed.
----
* TheAce: Arguably overtook every single one of Yusaku's Ace after its appearance in season 2. Clock Dragon's ability to get really high attack score proves to be one of Playmaker's most reliable plays for the rest of the series.
* AllYourPowersCombined: It is a Fusion Monster that becomes stronger when more Link Monsters are used as Fusion Materials.
* BoringButPractical: Cyberse Clock Dragon's primary effect is simply just to have a really high attack score. Over the course of the series this proves to be ridiculously effective, winning 2 duels in a single turn, and winning the third one within 2 summons in a single hit. Even after it stopped outright winning games, Cyberse Clock Dragon was considered as such a threat by both of the FinalBoss of the series that it was the trigger for them to finally go all out and summon their final boss monster.
* DarkIsNotEvil: It is a DARK-Attribute, but it's on the side of good.
* DeathActivatedSuperPower: Its third effect is activated when it's destroyed by an card effect.
* ExtraEyes: It has four eyes.
* {{Foil}}: Towards Cyberse Magician. They are both Yusaku's new ace monsters that share the same Attribute, Type, ATK, DEF, Level and even the first effect introduced in Season 2.
** They are both summoned with an old summoning method that uses a Spell card, but while Cyberse Clock Dragon is a Fusion Monster, Cyberse Magician is a Ritual Monster.
*** Also Fusion Summon is the summoning method that is used the most often out of the the entire franchise, but Ritual Summon is the summoning method that is used the least often.
** They are supported with a LINK-2 Link monster with 800 ATK and the effect to get the Spell Card and Materials they need to summon it. Cyberse Clock Dragon's Link Monster, Clock Spartoi, can be used as a Material for its summon, but Cyberse Magician's Link Monster, Cyberse Witch, can't be used for his summon, because Cyberse Witch doesn't have a Level.
** They both have the same attack and effect limiting effect when Yusaku controls a Link Monster and an effect that allows Yusaku to add a card from his deck when they are destroyed by a card effect. Cyberse Clock Dragon searches for a Spell Card and only has one other effect, but Cyberse Magician searches for Cyberse-Type Monster card and has two other effects.
*** Also while Cyberse Clock Dragon's effect can be used best as a finishing move to end the duel, Cyberse Magician's effect can be used to prolong the duel.
** This even applies to their pre-evolutions, Clock Wyvern and Cyberse Wizard.
*** They both share the same Type, Level, and ATK. However, Clock Wyvern is a card Yusaku only recently started using in Season 2, while Cyberse Wizard is a Monster that was often used by him in Season 1.
*** Clock Wyvern is necessary as a Fusion Material for Cyberse Clock Dragon's Fusion Summon, but Cyberse Wizard isn't necessarily needed as a Material for Cyberse Magician's Ritual Summon.
* FusionDance: It's a Fusion Monster that requires Clock Wyvern and one or more Link Monsters. The more Link Monsters are used as Fusion Material, the stronger Cyberse Clock Dragon becomes.
* GodzillaThreshold: For the villains. After being a game-ending threat for all of its appearance, [[spoiler:Bohman and Ai]], two of the effective FinalBoss of the series, were the only ones who manage to survive Clock Dragon's assault and their response can only be summarized as this. [[spoiler:Bohman immediately responds by summoning an even stronger Link 5 monster and activating Judgment Arrows]] while [[spoiler:Ai]] went a step ahead with their countermeasure [[spoiler:with A.I.'s Show a card that specifically only really works well when used against Cyberse Clock Dragon, to summon 3 Extra Deck boss monster, and when that failed he went ahead and summoned a Link 6]].
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: It and its pre-evolution, Clock Wyvern, resemble Dragon-Type Monsters just like Firewall Dragon, but are actually Cyberse-Type Monsters.
* PurpleIsPowerful: It's a Fusion Monster and is purple all over and can have 4500 ATK at least when Yusaku only uses Clock Wyvern and Clock Spartoi (LINK-2) as Fusion Materials. However, if Yusaku chooses to use more Link Monsters as Fusion Materials it can go even higher. This makes Cyberse Clock Dragon potentially Yusaku's strongest Monster Card on its own since it doesn't need to Link to other Monsters for power like the Code Talkers or be augmented with Spell or Trap cards, but only its own Effect and enough Link Monsters to fuse with.
* TheReliableOne: One of Yusaku's most prominent Ace Monster if not the most with a result to back it up. Of the five times where Cyberse Clock Dragon is summoned, it ended the duel in 3 of them. Off-screen, it was the one who took down [[spoiler: Ai's clone]], and in the duel where it DOESN'T win the duel it plays a pivotal role, being the one who took down [[spoiler:Bohman's Link 5 monster]], and [[spoiler:manage to do 2900 points of battle damage against Ai]].
* RealLifeWritesThePlot: Once it became clear how ludicrously powerful Firewall Dragon's effects actually were, by the time of the second season, Cyberse Clock Dragon is introduced, got a lion share of screentime while both Firewall Dragon and Decode Talker got put to the sidelines for the vast majority of the series until they need to come out to introduce their evolved form.
* SpotlightStealingSquad: A particularly egregious case early into season 2. After its appearance against Blood Shepard, Cyberse Clock Dragon is immediately used again for Bohman duels as a game ending move. The next major duel against Earth, it was summoned twice after failing to close out the duel after the first summon. Cyberse Clock Dragon did not make an appearance again for a long time, all the way until the final duel of the season and even in that duel, it played the second most important role of Yusaku's Ace card, being the one that pushes the enemy to go further and summon an even bigger boss monster. This lasts until the end of the series, making Cyberse Clock Dragon by far Yusaku's most used card after its appearance.
* TheWorfEffect: In its early appearances, Cyberse Clock Dragon appearance is game ending. Comes Earth and its first summon failed to result in a one-turn kill, showing that its power alone is not going to be enough to end whatever duel it is summoned in. While Earth still ended up losing to Cyberse Clock Dragon, after that point, Cyberse Clock Dragon stopped being a game-ender, and instead played the role of Yusaku's boss monster that is summoned in the earlier phases of the duel to force the enemy to summon their true ace in the hole. Conveniently, putting Clock Dragon in this role easily sets up for a comeback scenario, thanks to its secondary ability to fetch any spell card when it went down.
* TookALevelInBadass: Clock Wyvern's only effect is summoning a token by halving its ATK. Cyberse Clock Dragon, on the other hand, has an effect that allows it ATK to reach insane heights.

Yusaku Fujiki's ace Synchro Monster in Season 2 and the first card he obtained through his upgraded Skill ''Neo'' Storm Access.

Just like Cyberse Magician and Cyberse Clock Dragon it has the effect of it has an effect that prevents opponents from targeting your monsters from attacks and card effects except for itself when he controls a Link Monster. Its other effect allows it to send an opponents monster back to the hand when attacking it, but then allows it to make a second attack in a row.

It's supported by Cyberse Wicckid, a LINK-2 Link Monster with 800 ATK just like Cyberse Witch and Clock Spartoi. It can't be destroyed by battle or card effect when it's Link Summoned. Cyberse-Type Monsters its linked to also can't be destroyed by card effects. And it can add a Cyberse-Type Tuner Monster to the hand by banishing one monster from the GY when a monster is Special Summoned to a zone it points to.
----
* AmbiguousGender: As a dragon, it's hard to see Cyberse Quantum Dragon's gender. The same holds true for Cyberse Wicckid, because of how androgynous it looks.
* BlindingBangs: Cyberse Wicckid's hair blocks one of its eyes.
* CompositeCharacter: Its design can be seen as a mix between the designs of Majestic Star Dragon, Shooting Star Dragon, Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon and the Synchrons/Warriors (it has airplane engines and wings on its back) while having the effects of Shooting Star Dragon and Shooting Quasar Dragon to attack multiple times.
* DarkIsNotEvil: It is a DARK-Attribute just like most of Yusaku's other ace monsters, but it's on the side of good.
* {{Expy}}: Mixed with CompositeCharacter as noted above.
** Towards Yusei's Shooting Star Dragon and Shooting Quasar Dragon since it's a Synchro Monster that can attack multiple times.
** It's also this to Yusei's Majestic Star Dragon and Yugo's Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon since it's a Synchro Monster with crystals as part of its design.
** Its design is also a bit based on Yusei's Synchrons/Warriors, because of the engine and airplane wings on its back. Furthermore, Yusaku even uses a Synchron monster (Cyberse Synchron) to summon it.
* ExtraEyes: It has four eyes.
* ItOnlyWorksOnce: Cyberse Quantum Dragon's effect to return a monster to the deck only manage to work once in the entire series, against Rousing Hydradrive Monarch during episode 73, the debut episode of Quantum Dragon. Every other appearance of Quantum Dragon ends with its effect negated, or the opponent outright immune to its effect. Ironically those other duels where it failed was the only one that is won by Yusaku, as Quantum's debut ends in a draw.
* JetPack: The rockets on its back can be seen as this.
* NoSell: Cyberse Wicckid is immune to battle and card effect destruction when Link Summoned and can pass over the immunity to card effect destruction to the monsters it's Linked with.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Just like Firewall Dragon and Cyberse Clock Dragon before it. It resembles a Dragon-Type Monster, but is actually a Cyberse-Type Monsters. Also compared to other dragons, this one looks more mechanical compared to them.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: Quantum Dragon's role in the series basically boils down to being the monster Yusaku summoned when the villain shows off their newest ace monster, in an attempt to use its effect to get rid of it. Since the duel has to last longer than that, it always failed so Yusaku's other monster such as Cyberse Clock Dragon can pick up the slack.
* WeakButSkilled: Unlike Cyberse Magician and Cyberse Clock Dragon, Cyberse Quantum Dragon doesn't have an effect that allows it to gain ATK, but its bounce and multiple attack effects are still very effective when Yusaku is unable to destroy or surpass the ATK of his opponents monster which made Cyberse Quantum Dragon the perfect card against Bohman since his Monster's ATK could reach insane heights through Judgement Arrows.
* TheWorfEffect: To date Cyberse Quantum Dragon is Yusaku's least successful extra deck monster, being ineffective for almost every time it is summoned, and the only one who never won a duel, even during its debut. For the most part, Yusaku would summon it to test the waters against the villain's new boss monster in the hope of getting rid of it with its effect only for it to fail.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Cyberse Wicckid's hair is green.

[[caption-width-right:350:The three arrows that judge everything! The Link Spell, Judgment Arrows!]]
A continuous spell card used by Lightning's Faction and Ai (after his FaceHeelTurn), symbolizing the Ignis' rebellion against humanity. It is the first and only Link Spell card in existence. Its effect is to double the damage of all the attacking monsters linked to its arrows, and its arrows can be used to Link Summon monsters without an arrow pointing from an Extra Monster Zone.
----
* AchillesHeel: In speed duels, the skill Maker's Portal prevents the card from destruction effects, but that doesn't prevent the card from getting sent back to the deck as Soulburner proves against Bit and Boot. It's also not immune to any card or monster effects, making it easy to remove from the field if not protected.
* AntagonistAbilities: This card is used by all the villainous Ignis, and the others who used this card are not good themselves.
* DifficultButAwesome: It has the simple effect of raising linked monsters to deal double damage, but is enough to defeat most monsters and the arrows used for extending link plays. The difficult part is placing and protecting the card once on the field since it's also not immune to any effects, and once it leaves the field, all linked monsters are destroyed. It also requires a link arrow pointing to a spell and trap zone for it to activate. Decks utilizing this card usually have monster or card effects tailored to protect it and/or the monsters connected from being destroyed, negated, or countered.
* EnergyBow: Its arrows appear as an arrow of light whenever it's summoned or a monster attacks while connected to it.
* {{Expy}}: The card is VRAINS' answer to The Seal Of Orichalchos as they are spell cards used by the antagonists to destroy humanity, albeit lacking the ability to corrupt its user and steal souls.
* LightIsNotGood: Created by Lightning and used by him, Bohman, Haru, and his minions to wreak havoc in LINK VRAINS.
* MoralEventHorizon: In-universe. Ai using this card has everyone declaring he's crossed the line and can never come back from following Lighning's will. Before that, nearly everyone tries convincing Ai to surrender and come back to them.
* PurposelyOverpowered: Lightning purposely created this card to be really powerful in order to help in his vendetta against humanity. It says a lot that the heroes try their best to destroy this card every turn as even low-powered monsters can become powerful once linked. As Ai shows, it can even raise monster attacks up to 22000 ATK in the right circumstances.
* StatusBuff: Link Monsters that are linked to this card have their attack doubled during damage calculation only.

It has two forms: G Golem Crystal Heart, given to Earth before separating from him that is part of the G Golem archetype, and Marincess Crystal Heart, which is given to Aoi after Yusaku acquires Earth's data from Go Onizuka and part of the Marincess archetype.
----
* AchillesHeel: Since Crystal Heart has no attack points and has no way to protect itself, it's especially vulnerable to attacks.
** Earth's strategy is to his own monster to protect it in a symbolic gesture to protecting Aqua herself.
** Marincess Crystal Heart can defend itself as long as there is a Marincess monster to discard, but it's defenseless if there's no card to discard.
* BackFromTheDead: G Golem can revive one Earth Link monster and co-link to one of its arrows and add a counter to it.
* EvolutionPowerUp: Crystal Heart has two evolutions, G-Golem Crystal Heart then turning into Marincess Crystal Heart, the latter also has a NextTierPowerUp as Marincess Wonder Heart.
* GoodColorsEvilColors: G Golem Crystal Heart blue coloring turns blood red once Go Onizuka gains possession of the card.
* HeartBeatDown: This card is out of place in Earth's deck, but it fits perfectly with Aoi's [[ThePowerOfFriendship dueling style]] and her position as TheHeart.
* NoSell: Marincess Crystal Heart can protect itself and the monsters it points to from battle and battle damage by sending a card from the hand to the graveyard.
* PowerNullifier: Marincess Crystal Heart can make an opponent's monster unaffected by card effects from the start till the end of the damage step. This is helpful in preventing Judgement Arrows from activating.
* SixthRanger: Crystal Heart isn't part of the G Golem deck as it's originally a water monster, but its effects in its G Golem form support Earth monsters, which is just like how Aqua supports Earth.
* StatusBuff: G Golem Crystal Heart can raise monsters pointed on this card by 600 for every counter on it and can make a monster attack twice if it has two counters on it.
* SupportPartyMember: Both monsters have 0 ATK points and no offensive abilities, but can protect or boost a monster's stats linked to it depending on the form.
* WorldHealingWave: Invoked with its first summoning, where it transforms a dry desert into a lunch field of grass and flowers accompanied by a waterfall.

! ''SEVENS''
[[folder:Sevens Road Magician]]
!!Sevens Road Magician
The ace monster of Yuga Ohdo, who obtained it from Otes prior to the beginning of the story. While its ATK is lacking, it makes up for it thanks to its effect of gaining ATK for each different Attribute in the Graveyard.
----
* BreakingOldTrends: It is the first ace monster of a protagonist who does not have 2500 ATK/2000 DEF (except for Firewall Dragon, which doesn't have DEF), sitting in 2100 ATK/1500 DEF.
* CoolMask: Sevens Road Magician wears one over the left side of his face, with orange flames streaming out of the eyehole.
* DarkIsNotEvil: It's a DARK monster, but on the good guys' side.
* {{Expy}}: While its ATK and DEF values are different, being a Level 7 DARK Spellcaster monster that is the protagonist's ace card makes it clear that Sevens Road Magician is based on Dark Magician. Sevens Road Witch being a counterpart to Dark Magician Girl further reinforces this.
* FlamingHair: Sevens Road Magician has bright orange flames streaming out the top of his head.
* FusionDance: With Swordsman of Roadstar to form Sevens Paladin the Magical Knight.
* LoopholeAbuse: The Sevens Road monsters and Road Magic cards send cards from the controller's hand or Deck to the Graveyard as costs to use their effects. This is designed to accumulate as many differently Attributed monsters in the Graveyard as possible, in service to Sevens Road Magician's effect of boosting his ATK.
* MagicalEyeStreamers: Sevens Road Magician wears a mask over the left side of his face, with orange flames streaming out the eyehole.
* MagicKnight: He's a Spellcaster, but carries a sword to channel his magic. As Sevens Paladin, his Type is literally "Magical Knight".
* RecurringElement: Just like Dark Magician, it has its own female magician counterpart, Sevens Road Witch.
* SignatureMove: The Road Magic cards are this for Sevens Road Magician, as each one depicts him casting the eponymous spell. Each one also requires that the controller control a Level 7 or higher Spellcaster-Type monster to be activated, which Sevens Road Magician is.

[[folder:Multistrike Dragon Dragias]]
!!Multistrike Dragon Dragias
The ace monster of Tatsuhisa "Luke" Kamijo. It has the ability to attack multiple times during a turn in which it destroyed a monster by battle. It has a Fusion upgrade; fusing it with The Dragon results in the High Dragon-Type Superstrike Dragon Dragiastar F.

Luke also gains a similar monster called Fantastrike Dragon Miragias, which he apparently obtained during a duel with himself and appears to be the first sentient monster seen in ''Anime/YuGiOhSEVENS''. Like Dragias, it can make multiple attacks, but it requires another high-Level Dragon to be sent from the hand to the Graveyard and also reduces the ATK of two Level 7 or higher monsters by 1500.
----
* AmbiguousSituation: Miragias and its connection to Dragias. Luke apparently obtains it for the first time at the start of the third arc, but is shown to have had an action figure of it in his Rush Duel clubroom and his sister also sometimes calls him "mira-brogias".
* AttackAttackAttack: Both Dragias and its fellow Strike Dragons, minus Bunker Strike, all have the ability to attack multiple times in the same battle phase.
* {{Expy}}: Although it may have different ATK/DEF values, Dragias is this to Blue-Eyes White Dragon, being a draconic monster with higher ATK than the protagonist's ace possessed by the latter's main rival. Bonus ponts for Dragias and Blue-Eyes being LIGHT Dragon monsters. Dragias's Fusion form Dragiastar F takes this further by actually having the traditional 3000 ATK value.
** The manga-only [[https://yugipedia.com/wiki/Great_Multistrike_Dragon_Dragias_Burst Great Multistrike Dragon Dragias Burst]] is one to Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, being a three-headed version of Dragias and Blue-Eyes respectively that requires three monster cards in order to be summoned.
* FusionDance: Can fuse with The Dragon into Superstrike Dragon Dragiastar F.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]] in that they're bipedal western dragons, but both Dragias and Miragias are shown to have orbs underneath cracks in their body, and Dragias also has four cables with blades attached at the end of each coming from its shoulders and from behind its head, implying that it may be at least partially cybernetic in nature.
** Dragiastar F lacks the regular Dragon type and is a High Dragon monster instead.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Merchandise pins initially referred to this card in English as "Dragias the Striking Dragon", but later materials confirmed it to be "Multistrike Dragon Dragias".
* TheWorfEffect: Generally an AvertedTrope with Dragias, which for many episodes remains Luke's finisher despite initially having trouble with his opponent's monsters, though it's eventually played straight when he Duels Kaizo.

[[folder:Yggdrago the Heavenly Emperor Dragon Tree]]
!!Yggdrago the Heavenly Emperor Dragon Tree
Nail Saionji's ace monster as well as the first Maximum Monster.

It is comprised of three monsters whose effects are only active while in Maximum Mode, requiring the player to Maximum Summon it to make use of them. The center part makes it immune to being destroyed by the opponent's trap cards while its left and right parts allow the player to send the top three cards of their deck to the Graveyard to, respectively, destroy one of the opponent's Level 8 or lower monsters and change a Defense Position monster into Attack Position.
----
* CompositeCharacter: It's one of Obelisk the Tormentor and Slifer the Sky Dragon, being a serpentine dragon with a fixed 4000 ATK and no effects to increase said ATK. It even coils around the Goha Corporation building as Slifer is wont to do in the anime.
* DubNameChange: To "Yggdrago the Sky Emperor" in the dub of ''Dawn of the Battle Royale''.
* {{Expy}}: It's not obvious, but Yggdrago is yet another one of Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Like the latter, it's a dragon-like monster with the LIGHT attribute and is used by a rival of the main character and its ATK is 1000 higher than Blue-Eyes's own, much like how Yuga's own Maximum monster has an ATK that is 1000 higher than Dark Magician's own. Additionally, it also happens to have three heads due to being made up of three monster cards, like Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.
* LightIsNotGood: Yggdrago is a LIGHT monster and is described as "Heavenly" but is used by Nail Saionji, the antagonist of the Maximum arc.
* NoSell: While in Maximum mode, Yggdrago cannot be destroyed by the opponent's trap cards, as Yuga found out the hard way when he attempted to do so in his rematch against Nail.
* OneHitKill: Its first appearance in the anime has Nail use it to defeat Yuga this way and he attempts to do so again in their rematch only to be foiled. Justified in that Yggdrago's effects described above make it pretty easy to break through the opponent's defenses and its 4000 ATK is enough to wipe out a player's LP in one attack in the anime.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: To begin with, despite what its name might imply, its type is neither Dragon, Plant, or even Wyrm, instead being a Cyberse like Nail's other monsters. Appearance-wise, it is plant-like in appearance with leaf-like wings, a body made from a mass of coiled vines, and three heads that "sprout" from buds.
* SetBonus: Individually, the three cards that make up Yggdrago are pretty weak with lackluster ATK/DEF for their levels and no effects that they can use to compensate for their weak stats. When assembled together in the hand, they can be Maximum Summoned as a 4000 ATK behemoth that cannot be destroyed by the opponent's trap cards and once turn destroy one level 8 or lower opposing monster and change one of their defense position monsters to attack position.
* WorldTree: Is named after Yggdrasil, the World Tree from Norse mythology.

[[folder:Super Magitek Deity Magnum Over Road]]
!!Super Magitek Deity Magnum Over Road
Yuga Ohdo's own Maximum Monster, created in response to Nail's. Unlike the three parts of Yggdrago, which are simply the three heads of the same dragon, each part of Magnum Over Road is its own individual robot that combines with the others into a massive TransformingMecha. It has an alternate form that has yet to appear in the anime; Super Magiflag Ship Magnum Over Road.

It is comprised of three monsters whose effects are only active while in Maximum Mode, requiring the player to Maximum Summon it to make use of them. The center part makes it immune to being destroyed by the opponent's trap cards while its left and right parts allow the player respectively send a card from their hand to the Grvayeard to gain ATK equal to the difference in LP between players and to send the top card of the Deck to the Graveyard to gain ATK equal to the Level times 200 of a monster the opponent controls.
----
* CompositeCharacter: It's one of Obelisk the Tormentor and The Winged Dragon of Ra, being a WingedHumanoid with multpile effects to increase its ATK.
* DarkIsNotEvil: It's a DARK monster, but used by main protagonist Yuga Ohdo.
* HumongousMecha: It's the smallest Maximum seen so far, but it's still massive and dwarfs normal monsters.
* NoSell: Like Yggdrago, while in Maximum mode, Magnum Over Road cannot be destroyed by the opponent's trap cards.
* OneHitKill: Yuga eventually uses it to inflict one to Nail after Nail restores his own LP to full and sets up a Trap that would end the duel in a draw if Yuga ''didn't'' do this.
* SetBonus: Individually, the three cards that make up Magnum Over Road are pretty weak with lackluster ATK/DEF for their levels and no effects that they can use to compensate for their weak stats. When assembled together in the hand, they can be Maximum Summoned as a 3500 ATK behemoth that cannot be destroyed by the opponent's trap cards and has various effects to increase its own ATK.
* TransformingMecha: The three parts are each individual robots that combine into the full Maximum Monster.

[[folder:Wurm Ex-Cavator the Heavy Mequestrian Wyrm]]
!!Wurm Ex-Cavator the Heavy Mequestrian Wyrm
Asana Mutsuba's Maximum Monster, created from discarded Duel ID cards found in Maximum Mountain.

It is comprised of three monsters whose effects are only active while in Maximum Mode, requiring the player to Maximum Summon it to make use of them. The center part makes it immune to being destroyed by the opponent's trap cards while its left and right parts increase its ATK by 300 for each card in Asana's hand and allow it to destroy a Spell or Trap to draw a card respectively, drawing an additional card if it destroyed a Field Spell.
----
* CompositeCharacter: It's one of The Winged Dragon of Ra and Slifer the Sky Dragon, being a yellow-skinned mechanical dragon and the last of the original three Maximums to be introduced, while also including an effect to gain ATK for the number of cards in the player's hand.
* NoSell: While in Maximum mode, Wurm Ex-Cavator cannot be destroyed by the opponent's trap cards.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: It's a Wyrm monster that appears as a massive bucket wheel excavator with a dragon at its core.
* SetBonus: Individually, the three cards that make up Wurm Ex-Cavator are pretty weak with lackluster ATK/DEF for their levels and no effects that they can use to compensate for their weak stats, though the main part actually has respectable ATK on its own. When assembled together in the hand, they can be Maximum Summoned as a 3500 ATK behemoth that cannot be destroyed by the opponent's trap cards and can easily increase its own ATK far beyond its original score.
