• Death by Origin Story: actually his whole family, but Mamoru Kodai in particular connects him directly with Okita

• Adaptational Badass: Analyzer loses the sex drive and becomes a Humongous Mecha in the 2010 movie. Though he's been shown to be a Pintsized Powerhouse on occasion in the original anime.

• Robot Buddy: Particularly in the 2010 movie where he's retconned to Kodai's personal "Mother Box".
• What Measure Is a Non-Human?: usually played for laughs due him asking Sado for how to become more human (once resulting in him going in mission DRUNK), but there's a very sad episode showing the contrast between his robotic body and his very human feelings for Yuki.

Mamoru Kodai (Alex Wildstar)

• Dead Older Brother: Averted at the end of season 1 - Starsha found and nursed him back to health.
• Posthumous Character: Not.
• I Choose To Stay: Throws away his only chance to go home to stay with Starsha in the end.

When he first appears, he just returned from the front against another unidentified enemy, and apparently defeated it so completely he's being hailed as an hero by the Gamilas people and Deslar himself. From the Gamilas point of view, HE is the hero.
