    James R.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/odd1sout_james.png
The main narrator of the Odd ones Out. A friendly individual who likes animals.

  • Accidental Murder: Played for laughs, James and Faith captured a moth and brought it to class to show it off. However, when they decided to release Harry, they did it during the daytime and the unlucky moth was consumed by a bird, not knowing that Harry was a nocturnal creature and had a better chance of surviving if they released the moth at night.
  • Always Someone Better: His sister Faith can be this to him at times. He admits in a video that Faith was better than him at drawing when they were in third grade, for example.
  • Animal Lover: An animal lover through and through.
  • Closet Geek: Used to find his nerdy interests such as Pokémon embarrassing, but has gotten over that.
  • Does Not Like Spam: He thinks watermelon is gross.
  • Embarrassing Damp Sheets: Used to wet the bed until he was eight but now he doesn't.
  • Fanboy: James is a fan of Neopets, Pokémon GO, Aesop's Fables, The Dark Crystal franchise, and Star Wars.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Mostly as a teen. He could have his narcissistic or stubborn moments but was mainly a good guy.
  • Nice Guy: He's a pretty nice person. Any sense of cockiness or narcissism is to make fun of himself.
  • Potty Emergency: Talks about times he's really had to go to the bathroom in his "peeing yourself" video.
  • Potty Failure: Wet his pants twice at school.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Downplayed. He and his siblings sometimes have/had tiffs, but they get along fine.
  • Teen Hater: In "Movies I Thought were Weird", James mentions that part of the reason he hated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as a kid was that he hated teenagers because some teens were mean to him in the past.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: He's gotten nicer since he was a teen.
  • Two First Names: His full name is Robert James Rallison.

    Faith R.
James' twin sister.

  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Appears to be more moral than James and is blonde.
  • Nice Girl: She took the blame so James wouldn't have to suffer their mom's M&M torture.
  • Out of Focus: She doesn't appear in videos as often as she used to.
  • Poke the Poodle: When James jokingly called her an idiot and had to pay her fifty cents, she felt bad and called him an "unpleasant person" so that she could pay him back.
  • The Ace: James mentions that she was better than him at different stuff, such as speaking French, drawing, etc.

    Baby James
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/10c478d90cd3b4424aa6d21602b973b8_0.jpg
James' depiction of his childhood/childhood in general.

  • Easily Impressed: A cartoon that "only moves" gets his attention in "Movies I Found Weird".

    Supreme
A character seen in "Buying Clothes". A Take That! at RiceGum.

  • The Bully: He believes kids' self worth should be over how much money they have.
  • Jerkass: Oh boy.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Clearly based off of Ricegum, to the point where he’s addressed by Ricegum’s real name (Bryan).
  • Take That!: Serves as one to RiceGum

    James's other sister
James and Faith's older sister.

  • Big Brother Bully: Well, Big Sister. Told Faith that the world around her didn't exist.

    Luke R.
James' older and only brother.

    James's dad

  • Good Parents: Him and his wife always had good intentions. While they could be strict, they clearly loved their kids and always had their best interests at heart.
  • Inexplicably Awesome: In James's childhood book "I Do Not Like This Family", he manages to diagnose James with kidney failure by putting his hand on James's shoulder. Averted in the real world as far as we know.
  • The Medic: In "I Do Not Like This Family", James's childhood book, he was a doctor who could diagnose patients seemingly by magic. Averted in the real world, where he's not even a doctor.

    Janette R. (James's mother)

  • Good Parents
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: May have seemed to be a bit mean (spanking James, taking his M&Ms, etc) but James himself calls her a "great mom". She enjoys embarrassing her kids but clearly has their best interests at heart.

    James' Grandmother

  • Cool Old Lady
  • Nice Lady: James' said that her grandmother is known as "the nicest person on the planet". She once let a random stranger who was just a door to door salesman in, poured him a drink, and had an extremely friendly conversation with him because he knew he was on his feet a lot.

    James's "pregnant female dog" teacher
A teacher mentioned in "Peeing Yourself" who James did not like.

  • Jerkass: Wouldn't let James go to the bathroom and wouldn't let Faith stay in her wheelchair when her back was injured.
  • Morning Sickness: Threw up in a bin because she was pregnant.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot: Is illustrated throwing up once.

    Ms. Kool-Aid
James's special-needs teacher.

    Georgie
James's dog. She sadly passed away around Christmas 2017.

    James's dead hamsters
Several hamsters owned by James but then they died: Squeaks, Squeaks II, Killer, Pumpkin Seed and the Three Amigos.

    Harry
A moth James and Faith briefly had as a pet.

  • The Ditz: Apparently, he and his whole species are stupid.
  • Eaten Alive: Was eaten by a bird.
  • Funny Animal: Not the real Harry, but an anthropomorphic Harry can sometimes be seen.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: James and his class released Harry and believed Harry would safely return to this life in the wild, like in the cartoons. However, they released Harry during the daytime despite him being a nocturnal insect and Harry was quickly and unceremoniously eaten by a nearby bird. The situation, unfortunately, forced the teacher to educate the class on the difference between animals in cartoons and animals in the wild.

    Floof
James's newest dog.

    Mr. Poe
James's poetry teacher.

  • The Eeyore: Was so gloomy, that James used to think he was depressed.
  • Flat Joy: Seemed gloomy, but talked about how each day got better.
