Morgendorffers

Daria Morgendorffer

Daria starts much as in canon; intelligent, snarky, and not kindly disposed to idiots around her. Gets stuck with the nickname DeeDee thanks to Pat VII. The Headmaster dubs her Morgendorffer Major, but he's the only one who uses that nickname.

Tropes:

  • The B Grade - Finding herself in a school that actually pushes her academically comes as a bit of a surprise to Daria.
  • Beautiful All Along - Daria first attracts Clayton's attention after he sees her without her glasses after she gets Lasik surgery.
  • Loophole Abuse - Daria demands the question be re-asked in Latin when faced with an obscure question about The Knowledge.
  • Purely Aesthetic Glasses - After getting Lasik eye surgery, she feels so uncomfortable without them that she gets these.
  • The Snark Knight - She wouldn't be Daria without it.
  • Training from Hell - Daria trys to convert to the Dymaxion sleep schedule in an attempt to get more study time. It doesn't work.
  • Twice Shy - With Tom. The two of them take forever to get moving.

Helen Morgendorffer

A driven lawyer, she frequently gets too caught up in her work to keep proper tabs on what's happening at home.

Tropes:

  • Parental Favoritism - Both daughters think she's guilty of this... in favor of the other daughter.

Jake Morgendorffer

Daria and Quinn's father. Works as a pharmaceutical salesman, and is often away on business trips.

Tropes:

Quinn Morgendorffer

Cute and popular as ever, she's inducted into Topisiennes shortly after arriving at Fielding. Pat gives her the nickname Kiki. The Headmaster refers to her as Morgendorffer Minor.

Tropes:

Bethany Barksdale

Helen's mother, she uses her influence with Headmaster Michaelas to get Daria and Quinn into Fielding.

Tropes:

Sloanes

Elsie Sloane

Elsie Slaone, twin sister of Tom, and Daria's best friend. She occasionally shows serious anger-management issues, and little is known of her past except that she used to be on the field hockey team.

Tropes:

  • Cool Car - A 1969 custom Chevrolet Corvette convertible.
  • Drives Like Crazy - Even before she has a license, she manages to total a truck on the Sloane's property. Only has a very loose grasp of the concept of speed limits.

Tom Sloane

Elsie's twin brother. Sometimes known as "The Pope", partly due to his supercilious, holier-than-thou attitude, and partly due to his poor choice of singing Prince's Pope at a talent show.

Tropes:

  • Kissing Cousins - Kathleen insists on becoming this.
  • Twice Shy - With Daria. He just can't bring himself to make a move.

Tropes:

LauraJeanne NorthChase

A member of Tops who was one of the candidates for next Tops head, along with Buttons. Her family has a lot of money, but it isn't old money.

A Tops member in the same year as Quinn, who is friendly with her.

Tropes:

  • Alpha Bitch - She's gunning to become Tops head.
  • Bitch Alert - Sue's introduction involves insulting both Quinn and Daria behind their backs and trying to keep Quinn out of Tops.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl - Sue is not above starting a fist-fight if another girl talks to her date.
  • Good with Numbers - Although she tries to underplay it.
  • Rich Bitch - And quite open about it.
  • Woman Scorned - Sue goes to full-out scorched earth slander mode after Tom breaks up with her.

Patrick "Pat" Hackney VII

One of the richest kids in a school full of rich kids, he takes a liking to Quinn early on. She initial blows him off because he's a bit dorky looking and understating things, but becomes interested when she finds out just how big his yacht is. One of Tom's best friends.

Tropes:

  • A list of characterization tropes associated with this character, separated by bullets.

Sara McGraw

A girl in the same year as Jill Yardorough, who claims magic powers (although the exact nature of them seems to change depending on which books she's most interested in at the time).

Shuler Kennedy:

A drama student who is the boyfriend of Buttons.

An English teacher at Fielding known to be a tough grader. One of the teachers Elsie approves of.

Tropes:

  • Stern Teacher - Daria's first encounter with the academic rigor of Fielding is in her class.
