A list of characters associated with Wario, mostly from the ''VideoGame/WarioLand'' and ''VideoGame/WarioWare'' series. See also [[Characters/SuperMarioBros Mario]]'s and [[Characters/DonkeyKong Donkey Kong]]'s casts, who both share a loosely defined universe with Wario and company.

The ''VideoGame/WarioLand'' and ''VideoGame/WarioMasterOfDisguise'' folders contain major '''unmarked spoilers'''. Read them at your own risk.

[[folder: Wario & Waluigi]]

The Mario Brothers's [[EvilCounterpart evil counterparts]]. A [[ThoseTwoGuys pair]] of angry, greedy [[{{Jerkass}} jerks]] who often try to ruin the day simply out of jealousy and spite. Wario is the [[{{Greed}} greedy]], [[LaboriousLaziness lazy]] and [[BoisterousBruiser boisterous]] counterpart of Mario. Waluigi is the scowling, bitter and [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} strange]] counterpart to Luigi.

Tropes that apply to both:

* AmbiguouslyHuman: They are humanoid in appearance, and they are said to be humans. But the elf ears, gangly eyes, pink noses and extremely deformed proportions make them look extremely bizarre. Plus their even weirder anatomies and powers.
* AntiRoleModel: Both represent greed and scheming.
* ArtEvolution
** Wario started out far crazier looking, had long [[http://i.ytimg.com/vi/N5jYnnyIB68/hqdefault.jpg sleeves]] and would constantly drool in the commercials.
** Waluigi started out with a far bigger smile on his face, his eyes were ganglier, he would be constantly [[http://www.dkvine.com/features/images/nazi_waluigieyes.jpg hunched]] and would perform scarier, more psychotic sounds.
* BadassMustache: Just like the Mario Bros. Both Wario and Waluigi have mustaches. Wario's is shaped like thunderbolts while Waluigi's are straight and pointy.
* BrilliantButLazy: These two are very skilled characters when it comes to mechanics and designing plans. It's a shame they usually resort to simple vandalism and petty mischief.
* ButtMonkey: Both are extremely prone to slapstick whenever they team up on the spin-offs.
* BrainsAndBrawn: As expected, when they team together, Wario is the brawn, while Waluigi is the brains. Both are still extremely prone to stupid decisions.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: They both started out as simple bad guys. Wario was established as more greedy than evil, and Waluigi was given traits of self-pity vengeful anger, and romantic passions.
* BroughtToYouByTheLetterS: Wario has the "W" on his hat and his gloves. Waluigi, however, wears a vertically-flipped L (Γ) on his hat and gloves. It could also be the greek letter "Gamma".
* CatchPhrase:
** Wario:
*** "Have a rotten day!"
*** "Hurry up!". This one comes from ''VideoGame/WarioLand4''.
** Waluigi:
*** "Waluigi Time!"
*** "WALUIGI NUMBER ONE!"
* EvilCounterpart: They are the example on the page image.
* EvilTwin: They certainly give off that vibe
* TheDeterminator: Both of them are extremely dedicated towards their goals. Wario does whatever it takes to gain gold, and Waluigi goes to great lengths to beat his rival and cause mischief (which tends to [[ButtMonkey backfire hilariously]])
* ElementalPowers: Waluigi moreso
* FatAndSkinny: Wario's the Fat. Waluigi is the Skinny.
* GagNose: One way they differ from the Mario Bros. is that their noses are bright pink and very large, adding to their ugly appearances.
* {{Gonk}}: Part of their charm.
* {{Greed}}: Even though Wario is a poster child for this, they both are extremely greedy, though Waluigi is less on the money sense, and more on the competitive sense. They will even steal from each other!
* HairTriggerTemper: They often get in trouble because of it.
* HarmlessVillain: Presented as evil versions of Mario and Luigi, but their brand of villainy only extends towards embodying certain vices as opposed to actual villainy that Bowser and other villains possess.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: [[FlipFlopOfGod They can't seem to decide if these two are brothers or not.]]
* HostileShowTakeover: In earlier appearances.
* IronButtMonkey: They have lived through things that even the Mario Bros couldn't. Examples include Bob-ombs and a Banzai Bill.
* {{Jerkass}}: It's obvious, really.
* LargeHam: Always over the top, with exaggerated actions and lines.
* LaughablyEvil: Their antics are the focus of the Camelot [[VideoGame/MarioGolf Mario]] [[VideoGame/MarioTennis sports]] games.
* MadBomber: They are usually associated with bombs and explosives.
* MeaningfulName: Portmanteaus of the words "warui" and their rivals' names. More details below for the respective characters.
* {{Narcissist}}: Both.
* OddballDoppelganger: While both of them initially started off as {{Evil Counterpart}}s to Mario and Luigi, they've since [[CharacterDevelopment changed]] to be more like this.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Wario wears purple pants, and Waluigi's outfit is mostly purple.
* SecondaryColorNemesis: Wario may wear yellow, but he also wears Purple overalls and Green Shoes, possibly as a nod to his [[AntiHero ''Grey'' area as a character]] rather than outright villain. Waluigi plays this a lot more straight, with purple being the colors of his cap and shirt, orange shoes, and [[EvilWearsBlack black]] overalls.
* SuperStrength: They are polar opposites. Wario has great strength in his arms and punches, but his stubby legs are pretty weak on their own. Waluigi's arms are scrawny and he is usually pretty weak, but his long, lanky legs can deliver nasty kicks.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Though Waluigi makes the most use of this, Wario is prone to do so sometimes.
* ThoseTwoGuys: Even though Wario and Waluigi aren't exactly good guys, they on Team Rocket-levels in terms of actual threat and are LaughablyEvil at best.
* TokenHuman: They are one of the few existing humans in the Mario games. And they don't even look that human.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Wario loves garlic, and Waluigi loves eggplants
* VerbalTic: Both Wario and Waluigi like muttering their own names a lot. Also: "WAAAA".
* YoungerThanTheyLook: They look a ''lot'' older than the Mario Bros, who already look quite a bit older than their age of twenty-six. Wario and Waluigi, however, are about the same age, with Wario possibly being as much as a year ''younger'' than the other three.

[[quoteright:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Wario.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:300:I'm-a Wario! I'm-a gonna win! [[note]][[MemeticMutation Doh, I missed!]][[/note]]]]
->''"Obey Wario, DESTROY MARIO!"''
->Debut: ''Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins''

A fat, ill-tempered, greedy [[VideoGame/WarioLand treasure hunter]] and [[VideoGame/WarioWare microgame maker]] who is often described as Mario's rival. Debuted in ''VideoGame/SuperMarioLand2SixGoldenCoins'' as the BigBad, but branched off with VideoGame/{{WarioWare}} and his own platformers; his nemesis is Captain Syrup (see below). He sticks around for the spin-offs, though.

Tropes associated with Wario:

* AccidentalHero: Wario never intends to perform acts of heroism, he just wants treasure.
* {{Acrofatic}}: Still capable of feats of agility/acrobatics despite being fatter than Mario.
* AntiHero: Wario really doesn't mind helping people out...as long as it is within his price range.
* AntiRoleModel: While Wario is not a bad guy, this is ''not'' someone you'd want your kids to look up to.
--> "Bath- NO! Brush teeth- NO! Don't be like me, kids!"
* ArtEvolution: In his earlier appearances, Wario wore long sleeves and had a lazy eye. He was also much [[EvilIsBigger bigger]].
* {{Badass}}: Not only is he [[StoutStrength physically stronger]] then Mario, he seems to possess Bowser's [[MadeOfIron toughness]] as well.
* BadassBiker: In ''VideoGame/{{WarioWare}}'', he has a personal motorbike, which carries over to his appearance in ''Super Smash Bros.''
* BadassMustache: As an EvilCounterpart of Mario, this is a given.
* BigBad: Of ''Super Mario Land 2''. He went from this to VillainProtagonist, then to AntiHero as the games went on.
* BigEater: Especially in ''VideoGame/WarioWorld'', where he has a Franchise/{{Kirby}}-like ability to suck in coins.
* BoisterousBruiser: Loud, arrogant, and with all the strength to back it up.
* BrilliantButLazy: He made his own company, but is too lazy to run it.
* BroughtToYouByTheLetterS: The W on his cap and gloves.
* BruiserWithASoftCenter: In ''Wario Land II'', he put a hold on getting his treasure back when his pet hen goes missing. He also talks about [[ADogNamedDog Hen]] rather fondly in the instruction manual.
* ChromeChampion: While Mario was this in ''VideoGame/SuperMario64'', Wario took over this capacity entirely in ''Super Mario 64 DS''.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: He was an outright villain in his first appearance, but later games made it clear he's more greedy than evil.
* CompleteImmortality: In ''Wario Land II'' and ''3'', he cannot be killed by any means (all except for Rudy the Clown, the final boss in ''3'', which can kill him and give him a Game Over).
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: In the ''VideoGame/{{WarioWare}}'' series.
* DivergentCharacterEvolution:
** Design-wise--in newer games, he wears a T-shirt under his overalls (unlike Mario, Luigi and Waluigi, who wear long-sleeved shirts). Nowadays his more common ''Wario Ware'' appearances give him an entirely unique outfit.
** Wario in his debut was able to use the same powerups Mario could, except he was able to obtain substantially more power from them. The ''VideoGame/WarioLand'' series gave him his own set of skills; generally used for puzzle-solving rather than getting from point A to point B.
* DrivenByEnvy: According to the Super Mario Land 2 manual, he's been jealous of Mario's popularity since they were children and tried to steal his castle many times before.
* DumbMuscle: The SuperMario64DS booklet describes him as lacking in brains. Some of his own games subvert this, however. He can make inventions and companies in mere seconds.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** Wario had a few elements of SorcerousOverlord and was capable of MindManipulation in his earliest appearances. In ''Six Golden Coins'' he hypnotized the entire island where Mario's castle resided, and he does something similar to the originally peaceful inhabitants of ''Wario's Woods''. The original commercial for ''Six Golden Coins'' also saw him attempting to hypnotize the viewer.
** Wario's shrunken, hatless form from the days of ''Super Mario Land'' hasn't been seen in ages, much like Mario's own small self. It last appeared as a borderline-EasterEgg transformation of his in ''Wario Land II''.
* EternallyPearlyWhiteTeeth:
** [[AllThereInTheManual The Wario World manual]] says that all the [[TrademarkFavoriteFood garlic]] he eats scares off any germs that would cause tooth decay. Any plaque that's brave enough to stay there, he himself eats.
** Averted in ''[=WarioWare=]: Touched!'', where Wario gets a terrible toothache from eating sweets. Twice.
* EvilCounterpart: Wario was set apart from Bowser in his first appearance by his ability to use the same items as Mario. Then again, [[spoiler: [[VideoGame/SuperMario3DWorld Bowser himself is not above doing this.]]]]
* EvilIsBigger: Lampshaded in his ArtEvolution. In his earliest appearances, Wario was a ''huge'' guy, standing a full head taller than Mario and his friends. As the games went on and Wario began to shed some of his villainy and became an AntiHero, his proportions became much smaller, to the point where now he's barely taller than Mario.
* EvilLaugh: Wario is best known for his [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9T8UVY6TDI bellicose cackle]].
* EvilTwin: Evil Twin wannabe, anyway.
* ExtraOreDinary: His hat power up in ''VideoGame/SuperMario64 [[UpdatedRerelease DS]]'' is the Metal Cap.
* {{Fartillery}}: An exclusive move in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros''.
* FatAndSkinny: The Fat to Waluigi's Skinny.
* FatBastard: He's not evil, but he's not nice either. In the same way that Mario is short and plump, Wario exaggerates this trait to villainous levels.
* FatSlob: He picks his nose, farts, eats a lot, and is generally very gross.
* {{Fiction 500}}: In ''VideoGame/WarioLand'' more than ''VideoGame/WarioWare''.
* FoeTossingCharge: His primary method of defeating enemies.
* FromASingleCell: When set on fire, he runs around before turning into ashes and regenerates from them.
* GadgeteerGenius: He manages to build a teleporter into television on a whim.
* GagNose: A pink one.
* {{Gasshole}}: Especially in Super Smash Bros.
* {{Gonk}}: One of the few examples of a gonk ''protagonist''. This is possibly due to the fact that he started off as an antagonist.
* {{Greed}}: A poster child.
* GroundPound: The "Butt Stomp", one of his signature moves.
* HairTriggerTemper: It's not hard to make him mad, particularly if he's denied treasure.
* HarmlessVillain: To the point where he stopped being a villain altogether and became an anti-hero.
* HeelFaceTurn: Implied. While he's still not exactly a hero, he doesn't go out of his way to mess with Mario and his friends anymore and even [[EnemyMine helps them on occasions]].
* HotBlooded: Very adventurous and excitable.
* HypnoticEyes: In the commercial for ''Super Mario Land 2''.
* HypnoTrinket: In the commercial for ''Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3''.
* IronButtmonkey: In most of the Wario Land games he often ''needs'' to injure himself in hilarious ways to progress, though he'll shrug off any injuries like they were nothing.
* {{Jerkass}}: On his bad days.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He'll gladly liberate the citizens of a music box from an evil clown... if you let him keep any treasure he finds. He also goes out of his way to rescue Princess Peach in ''VideoGame/SuperMario64 [[UpdatedRerelease DS]]'' for no real profit ([[SeriousBusiness unless he really likes cake anyway]]).
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: Because Queen Merelda certainly needed whiplash less than a minute after being freed from a ''cage''. But Wario shaved down the time to get his money by several seconds, so it all evens out.
* LargeHam: More so in ''VideoGame/WarioWorld'', where everything was his including the manual.
* LaserGuidedKarma: His greedy antics often come back to bite him in the butt.
* LightningBruiser: He is massively strong, can take a lot of damage, and can jump high and dash quickly (with his signature dash attack). This is especially true in ''VideoGame/WarioLand4'' - He's actually ''faster'' in this game while dashing than Mario had been in previous games; and his strength and jumping remains the same as ever.
* MadeOfIron: He can take almost anything thrown at him. Heck, some of the AmusingInjuries inflicted on him in ''Wario Land II & 3'' actually serve as powerups!
* MoneyFetish: Need we say more?
* MeaningfulName: Combined with LuckyTranslation, his name works in Japan and in English-speaking countries.
** His name was originally a portmanteau of the Japanese word "warui" meaning "bad" and Mario. As such, his name means "bad Mario"; a play on his status as Mario's reverse doppelganger.
** In English-speaking countries, the W in his name can instead be read as an upside-down M, which still perfectly fits his EvilTwin nature to Mario.
%%* MightyGlacier: Always this in the Mario spinoffs, though in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'' he retains his LightningBruiser status instead.
* MirrorBoss: In ''Super Mario Land 2''.
* MrViceGuy: Sometimes.
* MusclesAreMeaningful: Those bulky biceps Wario possesses aren't just for show. The fat guy has superhuman strength.
* OddFriendship: With [[spoiler:Toadette]] apparently.
* OneManArmy: Rivals the Mario Bros in the sheer devastation he can wreak upon his enemies.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Especially in ''Shake It!''
* ParentalAbandonment: All of the other babies are taken home bystorks at the end of ''VideoGame/YoshisIslandDS'', except for Baby Wario, who is instead taken to a raft with treasure on it, implying that he was homeless.
* PetTheDog: You have to admit, it was kinda cute the way Wario [[spoiler: takes off his hat before the princess in ''Super Mario 64 DS'']].
* PhantomThief: In ''VideoGame/WarioMasterOfDisguise''.
* ProgressivelyPrettier: Comparatively speaking. Around the time of ''Wario Land II'', he no longer has a lazy eye, and his upper body became more muscular.
* PunnyName: In Japanese, ''warui'' means "bad". The letters R and L are interchangeable in Katakana, and thus Waluigi below.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Wears purple pants in most of his apperances.
* RealMenWearPink: Wears pink pants in the WarioWare series.
* TheRival: To Mario. And in his own games, to Captain Syrup.
* TheScrooge: And how! He'd make the TropeNamer himself look charitable.
* ShockAndAwe: When he's not using his [[{{Fartillery}} body gasses]], this is Wario's go-to power of choice, especially in ''VideoGame/MarioTennis''. Unfortunately, the lightning doesn't always work in his favor, if his Bogey animation in Mario Golf World Tour is anything to go by.
* SignatureMove: His "Shoulder Charge/Dash" attack.
* SlasherSmile: Just ''look'' at him! It almost seems permanent.
* SociopathicHero: It's all about money with this guy, any heroics he does are purely accidental.
* StoutStrength: Wario has always been portrayed as fatter and stronger than Mario, and he's got the biceps to show it.
* SuperStrength: He can punch the ground to cause earthquakes and regularly pulverizes stone blocks.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Garlic.
* TokenEvilTeammate: In ''VideoGame/SuperMario64 [[UpdatedRerelease DS]]''.
* TookALevelInKindness: While he's still a fat, greedy jerk, he's generally more of an AntiHero these days.
* TookALevelInJerkAss: ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Brawl'' has him in his most villainous role since ''[[VideoGame/SuperMarioLand2SixGoldenCoins Super Mario Land 2]]''.
* TopHeavyGuy: He's got quite the biceps on him.
* UnwittingPawn: In ''Shake It'', Merfle reveals in the end that Captain Syrup made a deal with him that she would lure Wario into the Shake Dimension so he could defeat the Shake King and save Queen Merelda. In exchange, she would get the Bottomless Coin Sack. Suffice it to say, Wario doesn't take it well.
* VillainProtagonist: Initially. After ''VideoGame/WarioLand'' he becomes more of an AntiHero.
* VillainousGlutton: He's got quite an appetite, though over the years he's become gradually less villainous.
* WouldHitAGirl: Wario has pummeled Captain Syrup in ''VideoGame/WarioLand II'' (in the endings to be specific), the Golden Diva from ''Wario Land 4'', [=DinoMighty=] from ''VideoGame/WarioWorld'', Queen Merelda in ''Shake It'', and [[spoiler:Terrormisu]] from ''[[VideoGame/WarioMasterOfDisguise Master of Disguise]]''. He's got no problem with smacking chicks. (Well, villainous ones at least.)

!!Waluigi
[[quoteright:276:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/waluigi2.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:276:[[Webcomic/BrawlInTheFamily Expecting a description? TOO BAD! Waluigi time!]]]]
->''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DDucAK-Jmg "Everyone cheating but me! WAAAAA!"]]''
->Debut: ''VideoGame/MarioTennis''

Waluigi debuted in ''Mario Tennis'' as Wario's partner (we don't know for sure if they're brothers) and Luigi's rival. He has so far only appeared in Mario spin-off games, and his only appearance in a Wario game was in several minigames in ''VideoGame/{{WarioWare}}: Smooth Moves''. Despite this, in the ''Smash'' games, he's filed under the Wario universe, not the Mario one. His odd confrontational and slightly crazed manner have seemed disturbing to some, and inspired [[http://www.brawlinthefamily.com/comic151.html this comic]].

You can also see [[SelfDemonstrating/{{Waluigi}} Waluigi's own page for more information]].

Tropes associated with Waluigi:

* ADayInTheLimelight: In ''VideoGame/DanceDanceRevolutionMarioMix'', where Waluigi is the main villain of the story. In ''VideoGame/MarioParty 3'', he [[HostileShowTakeover knocks-out Bowser]] and becomes the final boss of the game. Waluigi gets a fair bit more screentime in the ''VideoGame/MarioTennis'' games. He stars in Power Tennis' opening movie alongside Wario. [[VideoGame/MarioKart Also]], [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEFHbtAyK_k WALUIGI PINBALL]]!
* AmbiguouslyGay: Despite his crush on Princess Daisy, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jv9LHOgysmE he is]][[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNBHW2i4cJI quite a]] [[http://31.media.tumblr.com/5e8381d4737f66860fd26bb8a959a2d0/tumblr_mnsg8iV3ma1s3x93po1_500.gif fabulous fellow]].
* AntiVillain: He's not really much of a villain - In fact, the only indication that he is one is at all is that his goal is to TakeOverTheWorld.
* AssistCharacter: In ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Brawl'', he is one of the many Assist Trophy characters. His function is to chase down opponents and try to stomp them into the ground and finish up by launching opponents with a mighty kick or a swing from his [[VideoGame/MarioTennis tennis racket]].
* AxCrazy: Just listen to his sound effects and ''[[VideoGame/MarioStrikers Mario Strikers Charged]]'', where he smashes the soccer ball into the face of a member of the opposite team and gleefully dances and laughs after it. Apparently, his true motive, besides spoiling the parties and making everyone angry, is to take over the world and spread chaos across the land
* BadassMoustache: It ''is'' rather impressive.
%%* BeneathTheMask:
* BewareTheSillyOnes: He is mostly a very silly character, however he wipes the floor with Bowser in ''Mario Party 3'' (and has an army of Piranha Plants) and can kick pretty much everyone to the ground in Brawl.
* BigEgoHiddenDepths: He doesn't want people to know how insecure and self-loathing he is.
* BlowYouAway: In ''Mario Hoops 3-on-3'' and ''Mario Tennis''. In ''Mario Tennis'' he has to [[SpinAttack spin himself]] to create the tornado
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Whenever Waluigi loses in ''Mario Kart Wii'', he may say "I hate this game".
* BrilliantButLazy: He is very strong and fast physically, has a big assortment of weird and unpredictable powers, is the most skilled of the cast when it comes to sports and often uses elaborate and deadly machinery. However, he really doesn't use much of his power for actual villanous purposes (even though, as we have seen in ''Mario Party 3'', he could).
* BroughtToYouByTheLetterS: An L, flipped upside-down and mirrored, on his cap and gloves.
** It could also be the Greek letter gamma (Γ). Coincidentally, if you write Waluigi's name phonetically in Modern Greek, [[FridgeBrilliance it becomes]] Γουαλουίτζι (Goualouítzi).
* ButtMonkey: He tops Luigi. It seems like nothing goes right for this guy. Even he knows it.
* CanonForeigner: Has yet to appear in a mainline ''Super Mario Bros.'' game (nor has he ever appeared in a ''Wario'' game).
* TheCasanova: Can be very romantic, as his victory pose in ''Mario Party 8'' shows.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Just look at his lines in games like ''Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games'' or ''Fortune Street''.
* DastardlyWhiplash: He bears an uncanny resemblance to [[WesternAnimation/WackyRaces Dick Dastardly]] and [[Series/LazyTown Robbie Rotten]].
* TheDitz: At least according to Wario.
* EvilCounterpart: To Luigi.
* EvilIsPetty: Pettiness is practically Waluigi's main trait.
* FatAndSkinny: The Skinny to Wario's Fat.
* {{Flight}}: ''Something'' like it. In ''Mario Power Tennis'' and ''Mario Hoops 3-on-3'' he can "swim" through the air. He can't rise, though.
* FreudianExcuse: Why does he have it out for Luigi? Take a look at their [[http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OJNaXk8UuIo first interaction.]]
* GadgeteerGenius: He was the one who designed and built both Waluigi Pinball and Stadium Arena (a stadium full of energetic lights and robotic dinosaurs). In ''VideoGame/MarioSportsMix'', he also seems to have built a robot for Waluigi Pinball and designed a machine with four arms that instantly teleports to him and can fire lightning bolts.
* GagNose: Like Wario, he has a large pink nose. Although it's also crookedly evil.
* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: His infamous [[VideoGame/MarioStrikers Crotch Chop]].
* {{Gonk}}: Not as ugly as Wario, but still there.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: Displays them upon victory in ''Mario Tennis'' and ''Game & Watch Gallery 4''.
* GravityMaster: He can swim ''in mid-air.''
* GreenThumb: His special attacks in ''Mario Strikers Charged'' involve summoning purple bramble.
* HappyDance: It seems he really loves celebrating some of his sports achievements with an impromptu dance, some of which, as mentioned, are rather fabulous.
* HarmlessVillain: So much that you wouldn't even know he was a villain, if he hadn't tried to TakeOverTheWorld.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: [[FlipFlopOfGod They can't seem to decide]] if he and Wario are brothers or not.
* HijackedByGanon: It at first looks like he's going to be the main villain of ''Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix'', but he's just the first boss, with Bowser being the final one.
* HostileShowTakeover: He [[http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m22y9hZpdh1rrftcdo2_1280.png is]] '''very''' fond of doing this. Usually, when he appears alongside Wario or [[VideoGame/MarioParty gets]] [[VideoGame/MarioTennis the]] [[VideoGame/DanceDanceRevolutionMarioMix spotlight]], he will do this, abruptly interrupting the game to annouce his arrival. His [[Webcomic/BrawlInTheFamily Brawl In The Family]] counterpart is the [[ImageSource Image Source]].
** He is implied to have done this to the Mushroom Kingdom itself in a ''Mario Party-e'' minigame. The game is called "Waluigi's Reign". It consists of Mario, trapped in a grey room with pipes above him and Waluigi in a cabin above. Waluigi starts to rain down coins and giant hammers at Mario. The number of hammers starts to increase and increase as Mario tries to avoid them. If you notice in the background not only is everything foggy and grey, but there is a construction site halfway finished, almost as it was being build recently. So much for [[HarmlessVillain Harmless Villain]].
* {{Hypocrite}}: Accuses his opponents of cheating whenever he loses, while simulanteously taking pride in his own cheating.
* InASingleBound: He's the ''only'' character who has ever come close to Luigi's jump height without flying.
* InsaneTrollLogic: In his words: "With these Waluigiscopes, Waluigi will [[StalkerWithoutACrush spy on Luigi like a hawk]] and learn all of his weaknesses. Then, when [[ThirdPersonPerson Waluigi finally beats Luigi]], he will be the number one superstar of the world ! Wa ha ha !".
* {{Jerkass}}: One of his most defining characteristics. He is supremely awful and takes every opportunity to demonstrate it openly. He does nefarious deeds because it entertains him to do so. It seems like he exists solely to piss on everyone's parade. He is pure hatred through and through, to such an extent that he takes unmitigated glee in even the most hilariously petty acts of malice. His purpose in life is to torment all living things and spread chaos.
%%* LaughablyEvil
* LeanAndMean: In the same way Wario's fatness is an exaggeration of Mario's physique, Waluigi's leanness is an exaggeration of Luigi's thin physique.
* MasterOfIllusion: In the ''Mario Baseball'' series, he creates visual tricks like creating an oversized baseball or disguising a venomous eggplant as a baseball.
* MakeWayForTheNewVillains: He did this to Bowser as well in ''Mario Party 3''. After getting the Beauty Star Stamp, Bowser shows up. Expecting a fight with Bowser for the Mischief Star Stamp, Waluigi steals it instead, ''[[TheWorfEffect curbstomps]]'' Bowser when he tries to object, and forces the player to fight for the Stamp on a board of his own creation. While Waluigi only ends up being the penultimate boss-of-sorts, that scene was Bowser's last appearance in ''3'''s Story Mode.
* MindScrew: Most of the things he does fall on this category. [[Pantheon/{{Mentalism}} Current God of it]].
* MeaningfulName: Even more so than Wario's; not only is it a portmaneau of "warui" and "Luigi" like Wario's, but it's ''also'' a pun on top of that; "ruiji" in Japanese means "similar", while "warui" means "bad". Put the two together and you get "waruiji", or "bad similar"; [[LampshadeHanging mocking his vastly different appearance to Luigi]].
%%* {{Narcissist}}
* NeverMyFault: He has a tendency to accuse his opponents of cheating whenever he loses.
* PurpleIsPowerful: [[Webcomic/BrawlInTheFamily Everything is purple today. Purple is a color]].
* RememberTheNewGuy: His very first appearance was in ''Mario Tennis''. He was shown to have some kind of history with the other characters, but we're not given any backstory on this guy.
* SatelliteCharacter: He seems to have no real purpose other than serving as Wario's partner and Luigi's rival. He has only ever appeared in one game without Wario (''Mario Power Tennis''), and he is never seen not competing with Luigi. Unlike Wario or Luigi, he has never appeared in his own official game.
%%* SmugSnake
* SpinAttack: One of his special moves in ''Mario Power Tennis''.
* StalkerWithoutACrush: Revealed to be this to Luigi in the 3DS version of ''[[VideoGame/MarioAndSonicAtTheOlympicGames Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games]]'', but [[AscendedFanon people definitely thought he was this already]].
* StoneWall: Due to his long limbs, Waluigi is one of only two characters classed as "defensive" in the ''Mario Tennis'' series.
* SomethingAboutARose: His victory animation in ''MarioParty 8'' and his [[http://i.imgur.com/YqCjigZ.png birdie animation]] in ''MarioGolf World Tour''. Complete with [[BishieSparkle sparkles]]. Seems to hint at [[{{Bishounen}} a rather different]] [[TheCasanova interpretation]] of Waluigi than the one we're used to...
* SourOutsideSadInside: Waluigi acts like a jerkass so people won't see his faults. See Tragic Villain.
* SuperStrength: No, really. Though, unlike the other characters in the series, it's all in his legs, and not to nearly the same degree.
* TakeOverTheWorld: His goal. You can probably guess how good he is at it.
* TeleportSpam: In ''[[VideoGame/MarioStrikers Mario Strikers Charged]]''.
%%* TheTrickster
* ThirdPersonPerson: Waluigi will spy on Luigi using his new Waluigiscopes!
* ThisIsADrill: According to Wario Warehouse, Waluigi ended up drilling himself to the center of the Earth while trying to look into the back of his shirt. He used his chin like an pickaxe in order to make his way back to the world.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Eggplants, to go with his [[color:purple: purple]] theme.
* WeakButSkilled: This is his usual role in the Mario spinoffs in contrast to [[MightyGlacier Wario]], as in his debut game, ''VideoGame/MarioTennis'', where his shots don't have much power but he has great control and enough height to make him a terror on the net.
* ZanyScheme: In ''DDR: Mario Mix''. When Waluigi goes to the Truffle Towers, he tries to use the keys to make his wish come true. His wish is to become the best dancer in the world so he can [[TakeOverTheWorld take over the world]] by hypnotizing everyone with his dance moves.

[[folder:Characters from ''Wario Land'']]
----
!!Captain Syrup
[[quoteright:168:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/captain_syrup.jpg]]
->Debut: ''VideoGame/WarioLandSuperMarioLand3''

Leader of the Black Sugar Gang, Captain Syrup is the main rival of Wario in the first two ''VideoGame/{{Wario Land}}s'', in the first game possessing a base on Kitchen Island which is raided by Wario, and in the second game takes revenge by seizing Wario's new castle. She returned in ''VideoGame/WarioLandShakeIt'' as an ally to free the Shake Dimension, with the same ulterior motive as Wario: money.

Tropes assoicated with Syrup:

%%* BadAss
* TheBadGuyWins: Well, she's not a bad guy per se, but in ''Shake It!'', she manages to manipulate Wario into defeating the Shake King so she could claim the Bottomless Coin Sack from right under his nose.
* BatmanGambit: The entire plot of ''Shake It!'' was kickstarted by her luring Wario into the Shake Dimension so he could defeat the Shake King and let her steal the Bottomless Coin Sack.
* BigBad: Of the first two ''VideoGame/WarioLand'' games.
* TheChessmaster: In ''Shake It!''. The whole game was her using Wario to defeat the Shake King so she could claim the Bottomless Coin Sack. And it worked.
* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: Syrup has learned that she can't beat Wario with brute force, so she tricks him into doing the dirty work in ''Shake It!'' and snatches the ultimate treasure right under Wario's nose.
* EvilVersusEvil: Though neither her or Wario are truly "evil", just really greedy.
* EvilPlan: In ''Shake It!'' she manipulates Wario into defeating the Shake King so she can steal the Bottomless Coin Sack.
* FemmeFatale: Flirts with Wario and is not above using her sex appeal to manipulate others, [[NotDistractedByTheSexy though Wario is pretty indifferent to her]].
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Selfish and manipulative, but not a complete villain.
* LovableRogue: She's a greedy, self-serving woman, but still pretty fun to be around.
* ManipulativeBitch: To Wario in ''Shake It!''
* NotSoDifferent: While she's portrayed as a villain usually, she's really not that different in motivation or morality from Wario.
* PirateGirl: If her name and appearance didn't give it away.
* TheRival: To Wario.
* SamusIsAGirl: In the original ''Wario Land''.
* TheUnfought: In the original ''Wario Land'', she uses a genie to fight Wario.
* VehicularAssault: In ''VideoGame/WarioLandII'', she fights using hovering battle machinery.

!!Rudy the Clown
->''"[[EvilLaugh Ahh... Ah-hah-HAH!]] Finally I am myself again ! Now I can rule this world and the outer one as well !! [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness I need you no longer, Wario!]] I shall crush you like a bug!"''
[[quoteright:300:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/179421-rudy_the_clown_large_5774.png]]
->Debut: ''VideoGame/WarioLand3''

An evil clown/demon thing sealed away in the music box world, he returned in ''[[VideoGame/DrMario Dr. Mario]] 64'' for some reason not quite explained.

Tropes associated with Rudy:

* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: His face has green skin with red around the left eye.
* AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever: Rudy is the largest boss in the game.
* BackgroundBoss: In ''Wario Land 3''.
* {{Badass}}: Being the only thing in the game that can kill Wario definitely counts.
* BatFamilyCrossover: Him in ''Dr. Mario 64''. Or more precisely, the entire ''Wario Land 3'' enemy cast in said game.
* BatmanGambit: The entire plot of ''Wario Land 3'' was a large Batman Gambit on his part.
* BigBad: Of ''Wario Land 3''.
* EvilLaugh: "Ahh-Hah-HAH!"
* FangsAreEvil: Has blood-red fangs.
* FatBastard: A horribly obese and evil clown.
* FluffyTheTerrible: Hard to believe that a powerful and evil demon clown would have a name as ordinary as Rudy.
%%* GiantHandsOfDoom
* InformedAbility: Rudy apparently turned the inhabitants of the music box world into monsters, but during the boss fight, Rudy never showcases any magical abilities.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Stealing Megavitamins for himself from Dr. Mario, although Wario is after the same thing.
* ManipulativeBastard: To Wario.
* MonsterClown: As you should have guessed was the name and appearance.
* OneHitKill: The only thing that can hurt Wario.
* RaymanianLimbs: Ends up being his downfall. To damage him, you ground-pound his hands, temporarily detaching them. After that, you pick them up and throw them at his face, in a weird case of "stop hitting yourself." However, this [[http://www.mariowiki.com/images/7/71/Rudy_the_Clown_concept_art.png concept art]] shows that he was originally going to have actual arms.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Has blood-red eyes to go with the equally red fangs.
* SealedEvilInACan: Sealed away, but turned the people into monsters.
* SkeletonsInTheCoatCloset: His costume is decorated in skulls
* SpikesOfVillainy: On his gloves.
* TakingYouWithMe: His final act upon being sealed was to turn the inhabitants into monsters.
* TreacherousQuestGiver: He exploits Wario's greed to free him from his prison.
* TurnsRed: On his last leg, Rudy's face becomes completely red and the music and his attacks become faster.
* UsingYouAllAlong: Manipulates Wario into freeing him.
* VileVillainSaccharineShow: For the most part, the game is a pretty lighthearted adventure through a music box world, stealing whatever treasure you can find... then comes ''this'' freak, who's not only a nightmare-inducing MonsterClown, but a being so powerful that he's the ''only'' thing that can actually kill Wario.
* VillainBall: His plan would have succeeded if he just lived up to his word and sent Wario back to the outside world rather than try to kill him for [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness outliving his usefulness]].
* TheWorfEffect: He is the only thing in ''Wario Land 3'' that can actually kill Wario.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: The reason he's the FinalBoss.
* YourSizeMayVary: He's the largest boss in ''Wario Land 3'' by a wide margin, but in ''Dr. Mario 64'', he's inexplicably the same size as everyone else.
----
!!Mad Scienstein
->Debut: ''VideoGame/WarioLand3''

Tropes associated with Mad Scienstein:

* TheDragon: To Rudy in ''Dr. Mario 64''.
* HelpfulMook: In ''Wario Land 3''. His potions are helpful (except you can't open chests while invisible) and he's completely harmless.
* {{Invisibility}}: His potions in ''Wario Land 3'' have this effect on Wario.
* MadScientist
----
!!Black Cat/Princess Shokora
->Debut: ''VideoGame/WarioLand4''

A major character in ''Wario Land 4'', this female cat persuaded Wario to enter the Golden Pyramid and defeat the evil Golden Diva. It turns out that she's actually Princess Shokora, who had been trapped in the form of a black cat by the Golden Diva after she lost her kingdom to her in a magic duel. She turns back to normal in the end and is carried to heaven by four angels. Her true form [[MultipleEndings depends on how many treasures Wario has collected]].

Tropes associated with Princess Shokora:

* AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: At the end of the game, shortly after kissing Wario, four angels come down and bring her to heaven.
* BadassCape: In her best form.
* BalefulPolymorph: As mentioned above.
* BrattyHalfPint: Her "Bratty Baby Princess" form.
%%* CuteKitten
%%* TheDogBitesBack
* DoWellButNotPerfect: The requirement to see her "Cheeky Young Princess" form, which seems to be the canon one (as it's the form that resembles her artwork the most).
* {{Gonk}}: As the "Hideous Princess".
* GratuitousFrench: "Shokora" is a Japanese approximation of the French word "chocolat", meaning "chocolate".
* PrincessClassic: Seems to be the case for her two best forms, especially the "Cheeky Young Princess" form.
* PrincessesPreferPink: All of her forms.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: She reigned over her kingdom for a thousand years before the Golden Diva came around, yet she still looks like a baby princess/[[{{Gonk}} an ugly-ass princess]]/a cute young girl/a beautiful young woman.
* WalkingSpoiler: Her very presence, role and backstory turn her into this.
----
!!Shake King
->''"You stand before the Shake King! Tremble! Tremble!"''
[[quoteright:210:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ShakeKing_6785.jpg]]
->Debut: ''VideoGame/WarioLandShakeIt''

An evil pirate who serves as the main antagonist in Wario's Wii adventure. He invaded the Shake Dimension and stole its greatest treasure: the Bottomless Coin Sack, a magic bag that never runs out of coins no matter how much one shakes it. He also imprisoned the Merfles, the dimension's inhabitants and kidnapped their queen, Merelda. Wario, having been lured into the Shake Dimension with the promise of the Coin Sack as a reward, fights to defeat the Shake King.

Tropes associated with the Shake King:

* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Has grey skin.
* AdorableEvilMinions: The Bandineros, who are {{The Goomba}}s of the Shake Dimension.
* BadassBoast: The quote above. He does a variation of it in the opening movie.
* BadassCape: Wears a black cape.
* BeamSpam: Somehow he can fly, shoot lasers and call down lightning via magic.
* BeardOfEvil: Has a blond beard like a typical viking.
* BigBad: Of ''Wario Land: Shake It!''
* BlackEyesOfEvil: Has black sclera and [[RedEyesTakeWarning red pupils]].
* BlondesAreEvil: Has blond hair.
* BullfightBoss: The first phase with him. Wario has to jump on his back and force him to crash into the wall to stun him. As the fight wears on, it takes more hits to stun him.
* CreepyShadowedUndereyes: Has blue lines under his eyes.
* ChargeAttack: Just like Wario's .
* DeathIsASlapOnTheWrist: If you fail to reach the portal in time, he comes out, shakes your coins away, and kicks you to the last checkpoint.
* EvilCounterpart: He has all of Wario's abilities and the greed to match, but none of Wario's few redeemable traits. In all practicality, he's what Wario would be like if he went back to being a straight villain again.
* EvilIsBigger: He's slightly larger than Wario.
* FinalBossNewDimension: His dark cloud filled battle arena.
* GenericDoomsdayVillain: He's an evil pirate who conquered the Shake Dimension, imprisoned its inhabitants, and stole the Bottomless Coin Sack... and that's all we know about him.
* {{Greed}}: Just like Wario, it's all about money with this guy.
* GroundPunch: Two of his attacks. One calls down fireballs while the other stuns Wario for the Shake King to charge him.
* HornyVikings: Has an overall viking motif.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: He's three times Queen Merelda's size, to where he could carry her in one hand.
* IHaveYouNowMyPretty: He acts this way towards Queen Merelda in the opening movie.
* ItsAllAboutMe: See how often his icon is found everywhere?
* MalevolentMugshot: His face/icon is everything, including his flag.
* TheManBehindTheMonsters: The Bandineros are WaddlingHead style critters. He's a roughly 12-foot tall, somewhat humanoid pirate.
* MightyGlacier: While he's as fast and as strong as Wario and can jump even higher, his attacks are slow and easily telegraphed. In particular, if Wario uses his Earthquake Punch before he uses his, Wario can stun him for extra hits.
* MirrorBoss: He has all of Wario's attacks, including the ability to shake money out of Wario if he manages to get a hold of him.
* ObviouslyEvil: You can't get more ObviouslyEvil looking than him.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: He mostly sits on his ship awaiting Wario while his minions do the work. Justified in that he's already conquered the Shake Dimension.
* PlayingWithFire: One of his GroundPunch attacks calls down two sets of fireballs that bounce across the screen.
* PowerFloats: When using his lightning attacks.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: His outfit is red and black, and he has red and black eyes.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Has red eyes.
* ShockAndAwe: Uses lightning powers in the second phase.
* ShockwaveStomp: One of his attacks.
* SequentialBoss: Two phases.
* SlouchOfVillainy: Does a magnificent one when Wario finally meets him.
* SpikesOfVillainy: Everything about him, including his beard.
* TakeOverTheWorld: Mostly take over the Shake Dimension. And by the time Wario enters the fray, he's already succeeded. The rest of the game is Wario setting it right.
* TheQuietOne: He only has a few lines of dialogue in the opening movie and aside from the quote above when selecting his boss fight and a few generic grunts and shouts during said fight, he doesn't talk.

[[folder:Characters from ''Wario World'']]
----
!!The Spritelings

A race of elf-like creatures who sealed the Black Jewel away a long time ago. Once the Jewel became free again, it imprisoned the Spritelings inside boxes. Wario has the option of rescuing them over the course of the game, and they give him hints and tips upon being rescued. At the end of the game, they repay Wario for destroying the Black Jewel by rebuilding his castle. How well they rebuild it depends on how many he rescues.

Tropes associated with the Spritelings:

* AmbiguousGender: It's tough to tell what gender they are, since they all look the same and have no TertiarySexualCharacteristics.
* ColorCodedCharacters: They come in five colors. Each level has five Spritelings trapped within it, one of each color.
* CrystalPrison: During the final battle, the Black Jewel traps them inside crystals. Most of the fight (or just the first phase in the Japanese version) consists of breaking them free so that they can attack the Jewel.
* GottaCatchEmAll: You must do this in order to get the best renovation of Wario's Castle.
* HeKnowsAboutTimedHits: Some of them will explain Wario's moves and which buttons are used to execute them.
* YouALLLookFamiliar: Aside the five different colors, they all look the same. Lampshaded by Wario in the manual.
----
!!The Black Jewel
->''"Ooh, free at last! I'm chock-full of power! I think I'll turn all this greedy sap's jewels into evil spirits! Bwah ha ha ha ha!!!"''

The main antagonist and FinalBoss of ''VideoGame/WarioWorld'', a large, evil, dark-colored jewel that once brought chaos to the world. The Spritelings managed to temporarily end its reign of terror by sealing it away within their ancient ruins, but Wario, mistaking it for a harmless treasure, broke into the ruins and stole the jewel, [[NiceJobBreakingItHero allowing it to wreak havoc once again]]. The Black Jewel destroys Wario's castle, [[MoneySpider turns most of his treasures into monsters]], and imprisons the Spritelings inside boxes. The former two actions proved to be its undoing; making an enemy out of Wario ultimately resulted in its demise.

Tropes associated with the Black Jewel:

* AmazingTechnicolorBattlefield: The final battle takes place in [[HubLevel Treasure Square]], but all of its scenery is removed in favor of a huge white glyph which serves as the battle arena, and the background's color palette is inverted, [[http://www.mariowiki.com/images/7/73/Treasuresquare.jpg giving it a very otherworldly look]].
* ArtifactOfDoom: A giant malevolent jewel with RealityWarper powers.
* BigBad: The Black Jewel is responsible for all the bad stuff that happens in ''Wario World'', namely the destruction of Wario's castle, the conversion of his treasures into monsters, and the imprisonment of the Spritelings.
* CutscenePowerToTheMax: It demolishes Wario's castle in the intro and does the same thing to Treasure Square before fighting him. It doesn't do anything anywhere ''near'' as destructive during the final battle.
* DamageSpongeBoss: It has more health than other bosses (8 skulls instead of the usual 5) and has a very basic attack pattern that, outside of the Japanese version, never changes at all.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Being a [[RealityWarper reality warping]] ArtifactOfDoom doesn't protect it from Wario.
* EvilLaugh: It laughs fairly frequently during the final battle.
* EyeBeams: Its primary attack is shooting FrickinLaserBeams from its eye which set the ground on fire.
* FacelessEye: It has one eye, which is where most of its attacks come from.
* GenericDoomsdayVillain: The Black Jewel has no stated origin, no clear motive for its actions, and no personality outside of being evil.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: It spends the whole game sleeping in its giant treasure chest in [[HubLevel Treasure Square]] until Wario opens it.
* PivotalBoss: The Black Jewel seems to prefer hovering in the center on the battle arena and launching attacks at Wario from a distance. In the Japanese version, it ditches this attack pattern after the fourth hit and adopts a more close-range fighting style.
* PlayingWithFire: Aside from the aforementioned EyeBeams, it can also shoot {{fireballs}} out of its eye.
* PowerFloats: It floats in midair, unsurprising given what else it's capable of.
* PurpleIsTheNewBlack: Despite being called the Black Jewel, it's actually a dark shade of purple.
* RealityWarper: It has the ability to turn treasure into monsters and can create and destroy entire regions on its own. In fact, the entire setting of ''Wario World'' was created by the Black Jewel. The first thing it does after Wario encounters it at the end of the game is ''completely destroy'' the HubLevel.
* RegionalBonus: In the Japanese version ([[ShortRunInPeru which came out long after the Western versions did]]), it ShowsDamage, has more attacks, and has a [[SequentialBoss second phase]].
* SealedEvilInACan: The Spritelings sealed the can, and [[NiceJobBreakingItHero Wario opened it]].
* SparklingStreamOfTears: When it dies.

These characters are all from the ShowWithinAShow ''The Silver Zephyr''.
----
!!Count Cannoli
[[quoteright:150:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/CountCannoli_9270.jpg]]

Wario's rival thief. He was originally the infamous PhantomThief known as the Silver Zephyr, but Wario stole his magic wand from him and used it to do some master thievery of his own. Cannoli has two goals: 1) get his wand back, and 2) obtain the [[DismantledMacGuffin five Wishstone pieces]] before Wario does.

Tropes associated with Count Cannoli:

%%* AffablyEvil
* AlliterativeName: '''C'''ount '''C'''annoli.
%%* AristocratsAreEvil
* AttackItsWeakPoint: All of his battle vehicles have crippling weak points that Wario must attack in order to defeat them.
%%* BadassMustache
* BossRemix: His BattleThemeMusic is a [[AutobotsRockOut rock remix]] of his {{leitmotif}}.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Owns a company called [[NebulousEvilOrganization International Evil Concerns Inc]].
* EdibleThemeNaming: Cannoli is the name of a [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannoli Sicilian pastry dessert]].
* {{Faceship}}: Cannoli's third battle vehicle, Mad Hat Mk. III, resembles his head.
* HatOfPower: His hat doubles as a hot-air balloon.
* IneffectualSympatheticVillain: No matter how hard or often he tries, he just can't beat Wario. This results in him having a tendency to grieve over how Wario constantly outplays him.
%%* {{Leitmotif}}
* PhantomThief: At least until his wand gets stolen.
* TheRival: He and Wario become rivals almost as soon as Wario takes his wand. He's not the BigBad, but he's by far the most persistent and recurring antagonist in the game, and he and Wario both have a strong desire to prove their superiority over one another. At the beginning of the final episode, Cannoli gives up his pursuit of Wario and becomes an ally, only for them to become rivals again during the [[PlayableEpilogue special episodes]].
* RecurringBoss: Fights Wario 3 times throughout the game.
* VehicularAssault: He has access to a lot of high-tech battle machinery, which he uses during his boss battles.
* VillainProtagonist: Not of the game itself, but of ''The Silver Zephyr'', the in-universe TV show in which the game takes place.
* VillainTeleportation: Has the ability to disappear in a puff of smoke even without his wand.
* WorthyOpponent: It takes him a while, but he eventually comes to recognize Wario as this.
----
!!Carpaccio

The CEO of Sigil Securities and Wario's other rival thief. He manages to plunder the Smithsnorian Museum before Wario does. When Wario first confronts him in [[SlippySlideyIceWorld Sneezemore Cave]], he dismisses Wario as a pathetic loser and shuts 4 stone doors to block the path to him. However, when Wario eventually gets past the stone doors and defeats Carpaccio in battle, he realizes that Wario is a much greater threat than he originally thought. Like Wario and Cannoli, he also wants the [[DismantledMacGuffin Wishstone pieces]].

Tropes associated with Carpaccio:

%%* {{Bishonen}}
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: He's the head of Sigil Securities, whose [[OurSloganIsTerrible slogan]] is "We're hard at work watching your back... That way it's easier to pick your pocket!"
* EdibleThemeNaming: Carpaccio is an appetizer that consists of thinly sliced raw meat.
* FusionDance: He fuses with four mooks in order to go OneWingedAngel at the end of Episode 4. Oddly, the mooks he fuses with are ''not'' the ones that said OneWingedAngel form is clearly based off of.
* GivingSomeoneThePointerFinger: One of his standard gestures.
* HairFlip: Another one of his standard gestures.
* KingMook: His OneWingedAngel form is this to the Snow Globe and Blow Globe enemies found in Sneezemore Cave.
%%* {{Leitmotif}}
* OneWingedAngel: He transforms himself into a giant spherical monstrosity at the end of the fourth episode in order to fight Wario.
* RacingMiniGame: He challenges Wario to a rigged race during his second encounter with him, knowing that he can't beat Wario in a fight.
* SwallowedWhole: Does this to Wario after transforming at the end of Episode 4. The BossBattle takes place [[WombLevel inside of him]].
----
!!Tiaramisu/Terrormisu

A mysterious woman that Wario first meets at [[LethalLavaLand Sweatmore Peak]]. She helps him out at [[BigFancyCastle Blowhole Castle]]. She is actually a demon who was sealed inside the Wishstone.

Tropes associated with Terrormisu:

* BigBad: To the surprise of everybody except Goodstyle and Carpaccio, she had been [[SealedEvilInACan sealed away within the Wishtone]] since ancient times, and was only able to communicate with Wario by creating an illusion of herself. When Wario reassembles the Wishstone, [[NiceJobBreakingItHero she breaks free]].
* BitchInSheepsClothing: She appears to be innocent and cheerful, but her true colors are shown once the Wishstone is complete.
* ClippedWingAngel: In the fourth and final phase of her boss fight, she does absolutely nothing and dies in one hit.
* DealWithTheDevil: She struck one with Poobah the Pharaoh, with Terrormisu being the devil. The deal was that Poobah would starve his people in exchange for a wish. Poobah agreed, but instead of granting the greedy pharaoh's wish, she destroyed his kingdom, turned his palace into a pyramid, and buried it beneath the desert sand.
* EdibleThemeNaming: Tiaramisu is a {{portmanteau}} of "tiara" and [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiramisu tiramisu]], an Italian dessert. Same deal with Terrormisu, except with "terror" instead of "tiara."
%%* {{Leitmotif}}
* LightIsNotGood: Looks like a beautiful princess, but she gets a kick out of destroying civilizations and corrupting men.
* MaskOfPower: She has three of them, which she uses during her three-phase boss battle. Each mask represents a different emotion - for the first phase, she uses a blue "sad" mask. For the second phase, she uses a white "happy" mask. For the third phase, she uses a red "angry" mask.
* MythologyGag: She bears a strong resemblance to Princess Peach, particularly in her later appearances in which she wears [[PinkMeansFeminine a pink dress]] instead of her usual red one.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Her true name, '''Terror'''misu.
* PinkMeansFeminine: She wears a pink dress after being released from the Wishstone.
* PlayingWithFire: Her third form is fire-themed.

* SequentialBoss: Three phases, not counting the ClippedWingAngel bit at the end.
* ShockAndAwe: She has the power to summon lightning bolts, which she uses to attack Carpaccio. However, she never does this during her boss fight.
* WhiteMaskOfDoom: Her "happy" mask.

Tropes associated with Mona:

* AllThereInTheManual: According to the website for the original ''[=WarioWare=]'', [[ParentalNeglect her mom is a world traveling fashion model who rarely sees her and her dad is a]] ReclusiveArtist. * FieryRedhead
* GenkiGirl: She's peppy, cute, and a go-getter.
* IdolSinger: Gained this in "Touched."
* MoralityPet: Subverted. Fanon likes to think of Mona as a morality pet for Wario. Mona may be in love with Wario, but he couldn't care less about her.
* NewJobAsThePlotDemands: She's been an gelato worker, a pizza delivery girl, a band leader, a cheerleader, an explorer, an expert paparazzi...
* NiceHat: She owns a variety of distinctive headgear, most notably her bike helmet.
* NoAccountingForTaste / WhatDoesSheSeeInHim: Mona, for reasons unknown to man or beast, thinks Wario is "way cool".

[[caption-width-right:176:Dribble's the dog, Spitz is the cat.]]
->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!]]''

A bulldog and cat, respectively, who work as cab drivers in Diamond City when not designing microgames for Wario. Dribble is a hot-heated speed freak, but Spitz's cool head keeps him out of trouble. They have a souped-up taxi cab that can even fly in outer space.

Tropes associated with Dribble and Spitz:

* UsefulNotes/AmericanAccents: They both talk like they're from the Bronx.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: Dribble respects Spitz greatly, the latter being the boss. However, Dribble is always the guy who cheers/laments during microgames.
* BullyBulldog: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]. Dribble is a bit gruff, but he's a pretty nice guy for a cab driver.
* CatsAreMean: Also [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]. Spitz is also rough around the edges, but nowhere near mean.
* CoolCar: Their taxi is a tricked-out monster truck.
* DumbMuscle: Dribble.
* FunnyAnimal: They're a cat and a dog who get along pretty well.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: A cat and dog pair working a taxi gig.
* {{Nerd}}: After all, their games in the first installment are all sci-fi themed.
* TheQuietOne: Spitz.
* ThemeNaming: They're named after various drool-based terms. It's also a reference to the pet food brand "Kibbles n' Bits".

!!9-Volt
[[quoteright:215:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/9volt.jpg]]
->''"Hey! My name is 9-Volt! I'm the grade-schooler gone old school!"''
->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!]]''

9-Volt is a little boy with a major love of all things Nintendo. He works at [=WarioWare=], Inc. (Diamond City apparently having very lax child labor laws) designing microgames inspired by classic Nintendo products. When not fanning over Nintendo, he enjoys skateboarding.

Tropes associated with 9-Volt:

* AdorablyPrecociousChild
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With 18-Volt.
* FaceHeelTurn: 18-Volt's stage in ''D.I.Y. Showcase'' shows 9-Volt as a villain, for some reason.
* {{Fanboy}}: Specifically called a "Nintendo Fanboy" in many of his descriptions, and the shoe fits.
* {{Nerd}}: He knows all games retro to present.
* NiceHat: A hardhat with flashing lights and a visor.
* OhCrap: He has this whenever he sees his mom's angry face.
* {{Otaku}}: Of all things Nintendo.
* ThemeNaming: 9-Volt's mother is named 5-Volt, and his best friend is 18-Volt.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Afraid of his mom.
----
!!18-Volt
[[quoteright:215:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/18volt.jpg]]
->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare: Twisted]]''

9-Volt's best friend and fellow hardcore gamer, 18-Volt is a comically huge elementary school student who looks like a grown adult. He's never seen without his green jumpsuit and 3D glasses.

Tropes associated with 18-Volt:

* ADayInTheLimelight: In ''D.I.Y. Showcase'', he has his own microgame collection. Arguably, this also happens in ''Smooth Moves''.
* CatchPhrase: "Word!"
* HeldBackInSchool: He's in Elementary School despite his age and size for some reason. It's even [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] in ''Game & Wario''.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With 9-Volt.
%%* HugeSchoolgirl
* MyGreatestFailure: Breaking 9-Volt's Game & Watch in half puts the guy in the slumps, but they both patch things up at the end of the level.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: He looks like an adult, but is actually a middle schooler.

!!Dr. Crygor
[[quoteright:215:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/crygor.jpg]]
->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!]]''

A MadScientist, Dr. Crygor busies himself with bizarre but mostly benign experiments on his private island base outside Diamond City. He's replaced most of his body with cybernetic prostheses for some reason and dresses like a superhero. Dr. Crygor is assisted in his lab by his energetic robot, Mike, and his cute granddaughter, Penny.

He's notable for going through two character design changes [[InUniverse in-universe]]. Once, by being fused [[ItMakesSenseInContext with an apple]], and another by being powered up by his Kelorometer.

Tropes associated with Dr. Crygor:

* ArtificialLimbs
* BadassCape
* BadassMustache: Similar to Waluigi.
* CampStraight: Considering he has a granddaughter and all...
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: To be fair, nearly everyone in Diamond City is one, but Crygor stands out. He built Mike, specifically made as a karaoke robot, to ''clean his laboratory''.
* CyberCyclops: Has a giant robotic lens for his eyes.
* {{Cyborg}}
* DitzyGenius: His inventions are wacky and insane, but they have scientific basis.
* FashionableAsymmetry: He only gains a full mask during his introductory cutscene in ''Touched''.
* HalfHumanHybrid: After he fuses with an apple, he's a cyborg with apple DNA.
* HollywoodToneDeaf: Crygor is a terrible singer, much to his robot Mike's chagrin.
* MadScientist: A benevolent but very eccentric example.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: He's 103 years old, but looks middle-aged.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: [[SubvertedTrope Or not]].
* StupidSexyFlanders: He loves his spandex, and dances in almost every game.
* {{Superhero}}: Parodied.
----
!!Orbulon
[[quoteright:237:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/orbulon.jpg]]
->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!]]''

After trying and failing to take over the world, Orbulon settled down in Diamond City, befriended Wario, and joined his minigame company. Orbulon travels through space in a pig-shaped starship called the Oinker, which he's not very good at driving, accompanied by his Alien Bunny minions. He has shapeshifting powers that he sometimes uses to pass as a human.

Tropes associated with Orbulon:

* BadassCape
* CoolShades
* GalacticConqueror: But pretty bad at it.
* TheGrays
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: He's 2,003 years of age.
* RunningGag: Every time in the series (excluding ''Twisted'' which involved decoding a password and ''Touched'' in which he didn't have a level) Orbulon has hosted microgames have involved him ascending somehow, with him descending every time the player failed a game and dropping Orbulon back to where he started when the game is over. [[FailureIsTheOnlyOption And since microgames keep going endlessly until the player loses...]]
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness
* TheSmartGuy: Orbulon has an IQ of 300 and all his minigames involve puzzles.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting

!!Kat and Ana
[[quoteright:263:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/katanaww.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:263:Kat is pink, Ana is orange.]]
->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!]]''

A pair of twin ninjas-in-training who attend Diamond City Kindergarten, Kat and Ana are Wario's youngest employees. Kat, the older, can be bossy and overbearing, but she still loves her gentle younger sister. Both are very polite and love nature.

Tropes associated with the twins:

%%* ActionGirl
* AssistCharacter: In ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Brawl'', where they repeatedly slash across the stage in a crisscrossing pattern upon emerging from an Assist Trophy.
* BadassAdorable: They're kindergarteners who tackle evil ninja-style.
* {{BFS}}: Kat uses one in the first game. Plus, their katanas seem to be as large as they are. Granted, they're only six.
* ConservationOfNinjitsu: Played straight, especially in the first game, where Ana + a pack of RedShirt HighlyVisibleNinja get a TotalPartyKill for their efforts while Kat defeats the demon that beat them singlehandedly. (Granted, with her dog that turned into a [[{{BFS}} sword]])
* CuteBruiser: Kat, who is able to effectively wield a giant sword.
* FieryRedhead: Ana inverts this with ShyBlueHairedGirl. Interesting, her outfit is primarily blue.
%%* FriendToAllLivingThings
* GratuitousJapanese: Several phrases they said in the earlier games were in Japanese. Since Smooth Moves, they shout things like "Katana" and "Ninjitsu". Good luck knowing what microgame you're on in their section the first game if you can't read Japanese numbers.
* LittleMissBadass: Kat single-handedly defeated a demonic skeleton samurai in the first game. That's pretty badass.
%%* {{Ninja}}
* PunnyName: Put their names together and you get "katana". Also, their names can also reference that Kat likes cats and Ana likes flowers.[[note]]''Hana'' being Japanese for "flower".[[/note]] [[UpToEleven Furthermore]], ''ana'' and ''kata'' are Greek for "up" and "down".
* RedOniBlueOni: Kat's a bossy, impulsive go-getter. Ana's passive, thoughtful, and a little timid.
* SiblingYinYang: Thematically. Just look at them.
* ThemeTwinNaming: {{Punny Name}}s
* {{Tsundere}}: Kat.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: In Smooth Moves, Ana transforms into four turtles.
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: Ana especially. Kat, not so much.
* WorfEffect: Happens to Ana in the first game.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Kat's hair is pink, and Ana's is a bright shade of Orange-Red.
----
!!Mike
[[quoteright:215:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mikerobot.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:215:My name is Mike, c'mon, let's Robo-Karaoke![[note]]ROCK THE MIC! ROCK THE MIC![[/note]]]]
->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare: Touched]]''

A high-spirited cleaning robot built by Dr. Crygor using parts from a karaoke machine. Mike loves one thing and one thing only: music. He often rebels against his programming to have fun with karaoke.

Tropes associated with Mike:

* AIIsACrapshoot: Once, while cleaning the lab, Mike went nuts, traveled to an alien planet, and held a karaoke tournament.
* DemotedToExtra: After ''Touched!'', Mike doesn't have much relevance other than being an important background character around Dr. Crygor and Penny. He does get to host a multiplayer minigame in ''Game & Wario'', though.
* IAmSong: Quoted in the caption.
* MeaningfulName: In ''[=WarioWare=]: Touched'', all of Mike's games use the DS's built-in ''mic''rophone.
%%* ThePowerOfRock
* ShootTheMoney: The Nintendo DS's microphone is pretty much the only reason he exists.
* SlidingScaleOfRobotIntelligence: Mike falls under "Average Joe Android".
* SuperPoweredRobotMeterMaids
* TurnedAgainstTheirMasters: He briefly leaves Dr. Crygor after hearing his bad singing. He gets over it, though.

!!Ashley
->''Who's the girl next door, living in the haunted mansion?''
->''"You better learn my name 'cause I am Ash~ley!"''
->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare: Touched]]''
[[quoteright:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ashleyww.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:250:Pantalones giganticus! [[OhNoNotAgain Oh no, not again]]...]]

A teenage witch from Diamond City and one of Wario's employees. When not creating new microgames, Ashley spends her time brewing potions with her imp-like familiar, Red.

Tropes associated with Ashley:

* AmericanKirbyIsHardcore: Ashley's Japanese theme is rather different from the American version. To give an example, the first line translates to "She's everyone's favorite person in the world!" and the song is about how everyone likes Ashley. Ashley also has a young, childish voice. In contrast, the American version is about how scary Ashley is. Ashley also sounds much more mature. It's certainly possible that the Japanese theme is supposed to be ironic.
* AssistCharacter: In ''[[VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U]]''.
* BerserkButton: Mess up her spells or bump into her, and she'll want you dead or in one of her potions.
* BigEater: If her games in ''D.I.Y.'' are anything to go by, she loves eating.
* {{Bragging Theme Tune}}: ''She can rule the world and still finish all her homework/Everyone knows that I'm the greatest/A-Ashley!''
** The original Japanese version of the song as well -- although more along the lines of a poppy, sitcom-theme-esque "look how wonderful Ashley is" than the "fear my might" of the English version -- although some parts are sung differently.[[note]]Also, Ashley simply complains about being bored instead of messing up a spell.[[/note]]
* CanisLatinicus: ''Pantalones giganticus!''[[note]]"Oh no! Not again!"[[/note]]
* CreepyChild: Mostly PlayedForLaughs.
* CuteWitch: Just don't get her mad, or you'll regret it.
* DarkMagicalGirl
* DeathGlare: Prone to giving this when she's angered, complete with GlowingEyesOfDoom.
* EmotionlessGirl
** Gets played with later, where she's mostly emotionless, but occasionally smiles a little.
** And don't get on her bad side, or she'll become very emotional.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: When angry or about to cast a spell.
** PowerDyesYourHair: On top of this, her black hair turns pure white too in ''Game & Wario''.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: It's implied in the English version of her theme song, but outright stated in the Japanese version :
--> The sea of the night sky has plenty of stars
--> I am all alone.
--> I want to make friends with everyone.
--> What should I do?
** ''Game & Wario'' cements the message for real. Her little info card says she wants to have friends.
* TheImp: Red. If you're wondering where he is in the picture, [[LivingWeapon he turns into Ashley's wand]].
* InsufferableGenius
* LoomingSilhouetteOfRage: In ''Touched!'', after Orbulon accidentally bumped into her.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Does she look like a teenager to you?
* ParentalAbandonment: One of the Japanese blogs reveal Ashley's parents live elsewhere.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: If she's red, run for your life.
* SheIsAllGrownUp: She certainly looks like a teenager in her Game & Wario title screen art.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Wants to rule the world with an army of demons and monsters.
* {{Yandere}}: Implied by her English theme :
--> But I think you're nice and maybe we could be friends!...
--> And if you say no you're toast.
----
!!Penny Crygor
->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare: Smooth Moves]]''
[[quoteright:212:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pennyc.jpg]]

Dr. Crygor's cute-as-a-button granddaughter, Penny loves her grandfather and wants to be a great scientist just like him. She's just as skilled--and eccentric--an inventor as her grandfather.

Tropes associated with Penny:

* ApologisesALot: As seen in the tutorial in ''D.I.Y.''. [[AssholeVictim To Wario of all people.]]
* DreadfulMusician: If the record-making tutorial is anything to go by, she is absolutely ''awful'' at composing music.
* GadgeteerGenius
* GenkiGirl
* IdolSinger: Not actually one, but singing is a hobby of hers and she does tend to break out a microphone in celebration, though she says it's a secret.
* MadScientist: She's got the scientist part down to the point where she's on par with her grandfather. As for the mad part... "All experiments are guaranteed to be 100% [[FalseReassurance Not-Entirely]] Lethal". Granted she'd probably apologize profusely if anything did go wrong.
%%* MadScientistsBeautifulDaughter
%%* {{Meganekko}}
* MsExposition: In D.I.Y., she explains the basics of game, music, and comic creation to you and Wario.

!!Young Cricket and Master Mantis
->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare: Smooth Moves]]''
[[quoteright:306:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cricket_mantis.jpg]]

Two travelers from faraway lands, Master Mantis and his protege, Young Cricket, roam the world in search of cool new martial arts poses to perform. Cricket also appears as a player character in ''[[VideoGame/RhythmHeaven Rhythm Heaven Fever's]]'' "Kung-Fu Ball" minigame.

Tropes associated with Cricket and Mantis:

* BigEater: Despite being martial artists, all they ever seem to do is eat dumplings. Game and Wario shows that Master Mantis actually ''trains'' Young Cricket by making him eat dumplings.
* {{Bishonen}}: In a series where every male character is weird looking, Young Cricket stands out due to actually being handsome.
* BottomlessPitRescueService: Young Cricket can ride on a cloud if he misses an unrecoverable jump in Kung Fu.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Eccentric though they may be, both are absurdly skilled martial artists, Master Mantis especially.
* CallingYourAttacks: Most of Young Cricket's dialogue involves him shouting "Dragon Crush!". Despite this, we never actually get to see the technique.
* TheComicallySerious: Both of them (Young Cricket especially) come off as legitimately serious characters in their introduction. In reality, all of they ever seem to do is obsess about eating dumplings to ridiculous levels.
* ConvectionSchmonvection: In stage five of Kung fu, Young Cricket needs to jump throw lava plumes. But he will be just fine so long as he does not touch any of them.
* FantasticFightingStyle: Young Cricket is a master of [[{{Wii}} We-Ken]] and he is currently training in [[WiiU We-Yu-Ken]].
* GoombaStomp: Cricket does this to get to the front of the line in their story before being reprimanded by Master Mantis.
* GrossUpCloseUp: provided by Mantis when submitting your game design tests in ''D.I.Y.''.
* GrowlingGut: As of ''Game & Wario'', Young Cricket can't ever do training with an empty stomach. Clearly shown in the mentioned game where a cartoon version of a stomach indicates how much time he has before succumbing to hunger in his minigame.
* HotBlooded: All of Young Cricket's lines have him screaming in a shrill voice.
* KavorkaMan: Master Mantis is apparently popular with women and even has his own fanclub.
* {{Kiai}}: Most of Young Cricket's dialogue is mostly him screaming attack names.
* KIAttacks: Subverted by Master Mantis, who instead creates a dumpling.
* MiniatureSeniorCitizens: Master Mantis is about half the size of Young Cricket.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Young Cricket looks more like the protagonist of a Shonen manga then he does a WarioWare character.
* OldMaster: Master Mantis is a parody of one. He seems to be legitimately skilled, but he seems more interested in eating than training Young Cricket. To be fair, Young Cricket also seems more interested in eating.
* PerpetualPoverty: The source of their BigEater status. They never have any money for food and are always starving.
* SeriousBusiness: Both of them take eating dumplings incredibly seriously, to the point where it seems to be all they do.
* ShonenHair: Young Cricket's whispy black hair lends itself to his 'anime hero' appearance.
* ShoutOut: To ''Series/KungFu'', appropriately, where "grasshopper" was a common term from a master to a student.
%%* SuperDrowningSkills: Young Cricket.
* WizardNeedsFoodBadly: Young Cricket needs to eat a dumpling ever five seconds to keep moving in his mini game in Game and Wario.

9-Volt's mother, who discourages her son (and 18-Volt) from playing too much video games and focus on school.

* AscendedExtra: She appeared from the knees down in ''Twisted!'' and as a silhouette ''Touched!'' before ''Game & Wario'' gave her a full model.
%%* DeathGlare
* TheFaceless: Up until ''Game & Wario''.
* GenreSavvy: Knows that her son will never stop playing video games, even at night.
* HiddenDepths: She can outclass her own son at video games, something she's very embarrassed of.
* NightmareFuelStationAttendant: Her methods of checking up on her son at night in ''Game & Wario'' embody almost every possible horror trope and will surely scare the shit out of you. [[MundaneMadeAwesome But it's only so he doesn't stay up late since he has school the following morning]], [[WellIntentionedExtremist so she means well.]]
%%* RedEyesTakeWarning: Her main role in ''Gamer''.

* NewJobAsThePlotDemands: He's seen in a different profession in every game, just like Mona. However, since he's the one running the businesses, it may be why Mona herself keeps changing jobs too.

!!The (rest of the) Thang Family

* DiscoDan: Just like Jimmy.
* FunnyAfro: Every one of them, though Jamie's has pigtails and Papa T's looks more like [[WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons Marge Simpson's]] hair.
* GagNose: Every single one of them has a red nose.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: They never appeared after ''Touched!''.

* ArtEvolution
* CatchPhrase:
* ElementalPowers: Waluigi moreso
* HostileShowTakeover: In earlier appearances.
* IronButtMonkey: They have lived through things that even the Mario Bros couldn't. Examples include Bob-ombs and a Banzai Bill.
* {{Jerkass}}: It's obvious, really.
* {{Narcissist}}: Both.

!!Wario
[[quoteright:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Wario.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:300:I'm-a Wario! I'm-a gonna win! [[note]][[MemeticMutation Doh, I missed!]][[/note]]]]
->''"Obey Wario, DESTROY MARIO!"''

* DivergentCharacterEvolution:
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
* EternallyPearlyWhiteTeeth:
* {{Fartillery}}: An exclusive move in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros''.
* {{Fiction 500}}: In ''VideoGame/WarioLand'' more than ''VideoGame/WarioWare''.
* FoeTossingCharge: His primary method of defeating enemies.
* FromASingleCell: When set on fire, he runs around before turning into ashes and regenerates from them.
* GadgeteerGenius: He manages to build a teleporter into television on a whim.
* GagNose: A pink one.
* {{Gasshole}}: Especially in Super Smash Bros.
* {{Gonk}}: One of the few examples of a gonk ''protagonist''. This is possibly due to the fact that he started off as an antagonist.
* {{Greed}}: A poster child.
* MrViceGuy: Sometimes.
* MusclesAreMeaningful: Those bulky biceps Wario possesses aren't just for show. The fat guy has superhuman strength.
* OddFriendship: With [[spoiler:Toadette]] apparently.
* PhantomThief: In ''VideoGame/WarioMasterOfDisguise''.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Garlic.

->Debut: ''VideoGame/MarioTennis''

* EvilCounterpart: To Luigi.
%%* {{Narcissist}}

->Debut: ''VideoGame/WarioLandSuperMarioLand3''

* TheRival: To Wario.

->Debut: ''VideoGame/WarioLand3''

* EvilLaugh: "Ahh-Hah-HAH!"
* FangsAreEvil: Has blood-red fangs.
* ManipulativeBastard: To Wario.
* SpikesOfVillainy: On his gloves.
->Debut: ''VideoGame/WarioLand3''

* MadScientist
----
!!Black Cat/Princess Shokora
->Debut: ''VideoGame/WarioLand4''

* BalefulPolymorph: As mentioned above.

!!Shake King
->''"You stand before the Shake King! Tremble! Tremble!"''
[[quoteright:210:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ShakeKing_6785.jpg]]
->Debut: ''VideoGame/WarioLandShakeIt''

* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Has grey skin.
* BlondesAreEvil: Has blond hair.
* BullfightBoss: The first phase with him. Wario has to jump on his back and force him to crash into the wall to stun him. As the fight wears on, it takes more hits to stun him.
* CreepyShadowedUndereyes: Has blue lines under his eyes.
* ChargeAttack: Just like Wario's .
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Has red eyes.
* ShockAndAwe: Uses lightning powers in the second phase.
* ShockwaveStomp: One of his attacks.
* SequentialBoss: Two phases.

* SparklingStreamOfTears: When it dies.

----
!!Count Cannoli
[[quoteright:150:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/CountCannoli_9270.jpg]]

Wario's rival thief. He was originally the infamous PhantomThief known as the Silver Zephyr, but Wario stole his magic wand from him and used it to do some master thievery of his own. Cannoli has two goals: 1) get his wand back, and 2) obtain the [[DismantledMacGuffin five Wishstone pieces]] before Wario does.

Tropes associated with Count Cannoli:

%%* AffablyEvil
* AlliterativeName: '''C'''ount '''C'''annoli.
%%* {{Leitmotif}}

%%* {{Bishonen}}
%%* {{Leitmotif}}

%%* {{Leitmotif}}

* WhiteMaskOfDoom: Her "happy" mask.

Tropes associated with Mona:

* AllThereInTheManual: According to the website for the original ''[=WarioWare=]'', [[ParentalNeglect her mom is a world traveling fashion model who rarely sees her and her dad is a]] ReclusiveArtist. It's even referenced again in the Japanese ''Smooth Moves'' website where she [[NotSoDifferent relates with how lonely Ashley is.]]

* FieryRedhead
* GenkiGirl: She's peppy, cute, and a go-getter.

* PrecociousCrush: She's a high school girl with a crush on Wario, who is at minimum in his mid twenties.

* DumbMuscle: Dribble.

* HeterosexualLifePartners: With 18-Volt.
* FaceHeelTurn: 18-Volt's stage in ''D.I.Y. Showcase'' shows 9-Volt as a villain, for some reason.

[[quoteright:215:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/crygor.jpg]]
->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!]]''

Crygor:

* ArtificialLimbs
* BadassCape
* BadassMustache: Similar to Waluigi.
* CampStraight: Considering he has a granddaughter and all...
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: To be fair, nearly everyone in Diamond City is one, but Crygor stands out. He built Mike, specifically made as a karaoke robot, to ''clean his laboratory''.

* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: He's 103 years old, but looks middle-aged.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: [[SubvertedTrope Or not]].
* StupidSexyFlanders: He loves his spandex, and dances in almost every game.

Orbulon travels through space in a pig-shaped starship called the Oinker, which he's not very good at driving, accompanied by his Alien Bunny minions. He has shapeshifting powers that he sometimes uses to pass as a human.

Tropes associated with Orbulon:

* BadassCape
* CoolShades
* GalacticConqueror: But pretty bad at it.
* TheGrays
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: He's 2,003 years of age.
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness
* TheSmartGuy: Orbulon has an IQ of 300 and all his minigames involve puzzles.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting

->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!]]''

%%* {{Ninja}}
* RedOniBlueOni: Kat's a bossy, impulsive go-getter. Ana's passive, thoughtful, and a little timid.

* ThemeTwinNaming: {{Punny Name}}s
* {{Tsundere}}: Kat.

->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare: Touched]]''

* MeaningfulName: In ''[=WarioWare=]: Touched'', all of Mike's games use the DS's built-in ''mic''rophone.
%%* ThePowerOfRock
* ShootTheMoney: The Nintendo DS's microphone is pretty much the only reason he exists.
* SlidingScaleOfRobotIntelligence: Mike falls under "Average Joe Android".

!!Ashley
->''Who's the girl next door, living in the haunted mansion?''
->''"You better learn my name 'cause I am Ash~ley!"''
->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare: Touched]]''

* CanisLatinicus: ''Pantalones giganticus!''[[note]]"Oh no! Not again!"[[/note]]
* CreepyChild: Mostly PlayedForLaughs.
* CuteWitch: Just don't get her mad, or you'll regret it.
* DarkMagicalGirl
* DeathGlare: Prone to giving this when she's angered, complete with GlowingEyesOfDoom.
* EmotionlessGirl
--> I am all alone.
--> I want to make friends with everyone.
--> What should I do?
** ''Game & Wario'' cements the message for real. Her little info card says she wants to have friends.
* TheImp: Red. If you're wondering where he is in the picture, [[LivingWeapon he turns into Ashley's wand]].
* InsufferableGenius

!!Penny Crygor
->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare: Smooth Moves]]''

* GadgeteerGenius
* GenkiGirl

!!Young Cricket and Master Mantis
->Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare: Smooth Moves]]''

-> Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare: Twisted!]]''

!!Manager Joe
-> Debut: ''[[VideoGame/WarioWare WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames!]]''

A dog businessman (Business''dog''?) who runs various industries in Diamond City. He appeared in the first game in the series, and has remained a minor recurring character throughout. He also happens to be Mona's employer, which may explain why she's constantly changing jobs.

* NewJobAsThePlotDemands: He's seen in a different profession in every game, just like Mona. However, since he's the one running the businesses, it may be why Mona herself keeps changing jobs too.

!!The (rest of the) Thang Family
-> Debut: ''VideoGame/WarioWare: Twisted!'' (Papa and Mama T.), ''[=WarioWare=]: Touched!'' (Jamie and James T.)

Jimmy's family, who are just as fond of disco as he is. It consists of Jimmy's parents, Papa T. and Mama T., and his younger siblings Jamie and James T..

* DiscoDan: Just like Jimmy.

Added DiffLines:

* ArtEvolution: In his earlier appearances, Wario wore long sleeves and had a lazy eye. He was also much [[EvilIsBigger bigger]].

Added DiffLines:

* EvilIsBigger: Lampshaded in his ArtEvolution. In his earliest appearances, Wario was a ''huge'' guy, standing a full head taller than Mario and his friends. As the games went on and Wario began to shed some of his villainy and became an AntiHero, his proportions became much smaller, to the point where now he's barely taller than Mario.

* BrilliantButLazy: He is very strong and fast physically, has a big assortment of weird and unpredictable powers, is the most skilled of the cast when it comes to sports and often uses elaborate and deadly machinery. However, he really doesn't use much of his power for actual villanous purposes( even though, as we have seen in ''Mario Party 3'', he could).
