[[header:The Hutt Clans]]
The largest criminal cartel in the galaxy, the Hutt Clans were led by the Grand Hutt Council on the Hutt homeworld of Nal Hutta. The Hutt crime families that made up the clans were known as kajidics. Under their control was the entire sector known as "Hutt Space", where many of the native species, including the Weequay, Nikto, Vodran, Jilruan, Sakiyans, and Ganks, were conquered and forced into servitude to the Hutt Clans.

-->''"This bounty hunter is my kind of scum, fearless and inventive!"''

As the leader of the Desilijic crime family, Jabba the Hutt was one of the galaxy’s most powerful gangsters, with far-reaching influence in both politics and the criminal underworld. There were no second chances with Jabba, which is something Han Solo would find out -- though the slug-like alien would ultimately fall victim to his own hubris and vengeful ways.
----
%%* AbhorrentAdmirer: To Leia.
* AdiposeRex: Though he's a fat crime lord instead of a fat king.
* AffablyEvil: When Jabba is approached by someone he appreciates, he usually drops his jerkish behavior in favor of trying to sweet-talk his way into making a profitable deal.
* AliceAllusion: The costume designer on ''Film/ReturnOfTheJedi'' acknowledged the Caterpillar from ''Literature/AlicesAdventuresInWonderland'' as an inspiration for Jabba the Hutt (although Creator/RogerEbert pointed out that Jabba's face looks more like the Cheshire Cat).
* AssholeVictim: Let's just say Jabba had it coming.
* BadBoss: He harshly punishes anybody who fails him, often by feeding them alive to whatever monstrous pet he currently keeps.
* BondVillainStupidity: Jabba's love of theatrics backfires with both the Rancor pit and the Sarlacc. In the Rancor's case, the concept is sound but the switch that controls the gate was left within reach of its victims. With the Sarlacc, he insists on executing Luke and company in the most dramatic way possible despite having just seen another GladiatorGames-style demise fail.
* BullyingADragon: This is an unfortunate trait of Jabba's when dealing with Force-users like the Jedi or Sith. Whenever they come for negotiations or with forcible demands, Jabba always acts like he's the more powerful of the two even if the person in question can easily use the Force or their lightsaber to kill him.
** He tries to have Anakin executed on the spot for allegedly abducting his son Rotta and only gets angrier instead of being afraid when Anakin points a lightsaber at his face. Even when his son is returned to him by Ahsoka, Jabba still wants them killed despite the fact that there are now ''two'' Jedi in the room.
** He laughs off Maul's offer of joining his Shadow Collective faction despite Maul having made examples of those who refused his invitation, though it's [[JustifiedTrope justified]] as he was on Tatooine when Maul invaded the Hutt Council and only accepts his demands when the Sith personally stormed into his palace and overwhelmed his goons.
** When Darth Vader himself comes on behalf of the Empire, Jabba is rather unimpressed by his presence and [[WrongGenreSavvy mistakenly believes he is a Jedi]]. After slaughtering most of Jabba's thugs, Vader swiftly reminds Jabba that he's dealing with a Sith Lord by [[ForceChoke Force-choking the Hutt into submission]]. Even then, Jabba is less afraid and more amused by Vader's intimidation methods.
** This ultimately leads to his downfall when he decides to not heed Luke's warnings or demands (despite the fact Luke managed to kill a Rancor without a lightsaber), and decides to execute him and his friends at the Great Pit of Carkoon. His men get overwhelmed by Luke thanks to the "gifts" that Jabba foolishly took, and Jabba ends up being strangled by Leia, a rebel leader he thought he could easily make a slave out of.
* TheCameo: He appears as the host of the podrace in ''The Phantom Menace'', but sleeps through most of it.
* TheChessmaster: He used the fact that it was too dangerous to leave Ziro in Republic custody to have him broken out by Cad Bane on the Hutt Council's payroll, not his own. Then he used [[WomanScorned Sy Snootles]], who also wanted revenge against Ziro, to A) get the holodiary, which gave him the edge against the other members of the Hutt Council, and B) to avenge the kidnapping of Rotta, in which Ziro had a hand, via killing Ziro.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: He was choked to death with a metal chain, and it wasn't quick. [[AssholeVictim As well deserved as it was]], it's noted that Hutts should be very hard for normal humanoids to kill this way (among conventional methods) [[{{Kevlard}} due to their many layers of fat and muscle]]. Leia tapped into the Dark Side of the Force to give her a boost in strength when she strangled Jabba and earned the nickname "Huttslayer" InUniverse because of it.
* DeathByIrony: Leia strangles him with her [[GoGoEnslavement slave chain]].
* DiabolicalMastermind: Of a galactic criminal organization.
* DirtyOldMan: He's '''[[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld 600 years old]]''' (roughly middle-aged by Hutt standards), and he loves molesting young females of smaller and supposedly weaker species -- including Princess Leia, who is still in her early twenties at the time.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: For the first act of ''Return of the Jedi'', though it's clear that he's this from the get-go instead of being set up as the true BigBad of the film.
* TheDon: He runs one of the most powerful criminal syndicates in the galaxy.
* TheDreaded: Han is normally able to remain calm and collected, but he's motivated in ''A New Hope'' by his need to pay off his debt to Jabba. Being caught by Jabba's Palace without any weapons or bargaining chips leaves him stuttering.
* EqualOpportunityEvil: His criminal empire is remarkably diverse and includes too many species to list. This is especially in contrast with TheEmpire, which discriminates against everyone except humans and select near humans.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Albeit in a production wise though chronologically later case. He's first seen taking [=C-3PO=] and [=R2-D2=] with no intention of releasing Han to Luke in return, and then drops Oola to her death in the jaws of the Rancor for refusing him.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: He clearly adores his son Rotta and has a legitimate friendship with Ephant Mon.
* EvilIsHammy: Jabba the Hutt enjoys making loud declarations and waving his arms as he sends people to be eaten alive by giant monsters.
* EvilIsNotWellLit: He often spends his time in grungy, low-lit environments.
* EvilIsPetty: He kills Oola the dancing girl mostly for his own amusement.
* EvilLaugh: Laughs often at those who he thinks he has completely in his power.
* EvilSoundsDeep: He has an extremely deep voice.
* {{Expy}}: Of the Baron Harkonnen from Franchise/{{Dune}}, and also of [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney_Greenstreet Sydney Greenstreet]] (see NoCelebritiesWereHarmed) and Luca Brasi. Others have noted his appearance somewhat resembles God Emperor Leto II's ascended form, as well as the Caterpillar from ''Literature/AlicesAdventuresInWonderland''.
* FamilyUnfriendlyDeath: He's slowly and obviously painfully strangled to death by Leia.
* FatBastard: Being a giant slug who runs a criminal organization makes this a given. Jabba's name has become synonymous in pop culture with {{Fat Bastard}}s, and his name is sometimes invoked as an insult.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: In hindsight. He was once force-choked by Darth Vader and strangled to death years afterward by his daughter.
* TheGhost: He was this in the original theatrical release of ''A New Hope'', being casually referenced but never actually appearing as he does in recuts. [[EnforcedTrope This was due to the lack of time and budget necessary to film Jabba's scene]].
* GreaterScopeVillain: For Han's character arc until ''Return of the Jedi''. He's the one with a bounty on Han that causes the scoundrel unease at remaining in one place for too long and drives his reluctance to join the Rebellion. Much like the Emperor, his presence becomes stronger in ''The Empire Strikes Back'' before he finally appears in ''Return of the Jedi''.
* HairTriggerTemper: If something does not go in Jabba's way in the slightest, you'll be able to tell from his reaction.
* HasAType[=/=]MarsNeedsWomen: Female humanoids appear to be his main {{lust object}}s, judging by the Twi'lek slave girls at his palace (and later his GoGoEnslavement of Princess Leia).
* HiddenDepths: He is ruthless but generally fair to his underlings, and he found beauty in things most beings would dismiss as ugly and useless.
* IHaveYouNowMyPretty: "Soon you will learn to [[GettingCrapPastTheRadar appreciate]] me."
* ImmuneToMindControl: Jabba is immune to the effects of the Jedi Mind Trick, allowing him to confront the likes of Luke Skywalker without fear of being swindled.
* TheHedonist: When it comes down to it, Jabba just loves a good time with plentiful food, women, and entertainment.
* JabbaTableManners: The TropeNamer. He shovels in gourmet food by the handful. A fair amount of it is alive when he eats it. He can even [[JustEatHim swallow humans whole]].
* {{Jerkass}}: The Mighty Jabba isn't known for his manners.
* KarmicDeath: He is killed by Leia with her slave chain after he didn't take her brother seriously.
* KickTheDog: Despite being in ''Return of the Jedi'' for only about 30 minutes, he does several:
** Torturing droids in his basement and threatening [=C-3PO=] with the same.
** Dropping poor Oola into the rancor pit when she won't submit to him.
** Making Leia wear the slave bikini and chaining her to him.
** Trying to feed Han and Chewbacca to the Sarlacc along with Luke even though they had nothing to do with the rancor's death.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: In [[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsS5E14Eminence "Eminence"]], he submits to Darth Maul after it becomes clear that Jabba's forces are no match for him.
* LargeAndInCharge: Lord knows how his personal cruise ship manages to stay afloat.
* LargeHam: Every word of Huttese that comes out of his mouth has traces of [[ChewingTheScenery the scenery.]]
* TheMagnificent: Every character calls him adjectives like "Mighty" or "Almighty" whenever they are speaking to him.
* MurderTheHypotenuse: After enslaving Leia, Jabba attempts to have her lover Han fed to the Sarlaac with his friends while forcing her to watch.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: Based on [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney_Greenstreet Sydney Greenstreet]], a classic FilmNoir actor who appeared alongside Creator/PeterLorre and Creator/HumphreyBogart in movies like ''Film/{{Casablanca}}'' and ''Film/TheMalteseFalcon''.
* NonActionBigBad: In ''Return of the Jedi''.
* NoSell: He laughs off Luke's attempt to [[JediMindTrick mindtrick]] him in ''Return of the Jedi'', as Hutts as a species are naturally immune.
* OrcusOnHisThrone: He spends ''A New Hope'' and ''The Empire Strikes Back'' inactive, even though Han owes him money and broke his bargain to help the Rebellion. Even when he does show up, he loafs around on his throne as a spectator.
* PapaWolf: In ''The Clone Wars'', Jabba was ready to align with whoever rescued his son Rotta. When it seemed like Anakin had killed Rotta, Jabba was ready to have him executed at the spot. Plus, there is also the fact that he retaliated against Ziro for kidnapping Rotta via hiring Sy Snootles to kill him along with retrieving the holodiary. His love for his son was apparently strong enough to make him relent and allow Papanoida to make a case against Greedo when he appealed to his love for Rotta to have him help him find his daughters.
* PetTheDog: Aside from his concerns for Rotta and helping Chairman Papanoida find his daughters, he decided to spare Azool Phantelle's life after he was caught stealing in Jabba's territory because of his relation to Max Rebo. However, he still punished Azool by making him serve as a waiter on his sail barge.
* PrefersRawMeat: As a consummate slovenly VillainousGlutton, he keeps an aquarium of live frog-like amphibians by his dais for snack food.
* PsychopathicManchild: His behavior is much more indicative of this than that of your typical gangster. He throws fits whenever things don't go his way.
* RealityEnsues: At the beginning of ''Son of Dathomir'', it's revealed that he and the Hutt Clans separated from the Shadow Collective just after Darth Maul was captured by Sidious. The Hutts are used to being [[NGOSuperpower one of the top dogs in the criminal underworld]] and they only joined because Maul threatened to kill them after defeating their forces. With Maul missing and his strongest soldiers ([[ProudWarriorRace the Mandalorians]]) decreasing in number due to a civil war, this was the perfect opportunity to jump ship.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: He's 600 years old, people.
* RightHandAttackDog: Jabba keeps a Rancor in his palace dungeon to execute anyone who threatens the Hutt.
* SlouchOfVillainy: Justified due to being a huge slug.
** RecliningReigner: He sits atop a bunch of pillows at his palace.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: According to ''Son of Dathomir'', he and the Hutt Clans broke off from the Shadow Collective after Darth Maul was captured by Sidious.
* SmugSnake: Han offers to pay his debts to him and Jabba refuses to listen; when Leia and Luke warn Jabba that they could defeat him, Jabba and his minions do not take them seriously at all. Even when being led to the Sarlacc pit Luke says "this is your last chance; free us, or die." Jabba and his minions still refuse to take them seriously. Jabba is offered so many warnings and so many chances for alternatives that for him to still keep ignoring the heroes makes his KarmicDeath all the more satisfying.
* StarfishAlien: Hutts are large slug-like creatures with toad-like heads.
* TattooedCrook: He's a criminal leader with his clan tattoo etched into his right forearm.
* TranquilFury: Whenever he meets Han. He speaks very calmly and without any obvious shows of anger, but he is well and truly pissed off by the smuggler's failure to repay his debts.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Even though he was a powerful crime lord surrounded by a small personal army, Jabba ''really'' should've taken Luke a little more seriously. Especially after Luke uttered the words "this is your last chance. Free us, or die."
* VillainBall: He tried to have some of the most influential Rebel leaders executed, including a Jedi. Yeah.
* VillainousFriendship: With his head of security, Ephant Mon.
* VillainousGlutton: His appearances in ''The Phantom Menace'' and ''Return Of The Jedi'' both featured him eating live animals.
* WeHaveReserves: Clearly how he views his guards as when one of the Gamorreans falls into the rancor pit along with Luke, he just laughs as the rancor eats him.
* YourSizeMayVary: His CGI form in the updated ''A New Hope'' looks only about half as big as his puppet form in ''Return of the Jedi''.

-->''"The most gracious Jabba has one more small condition: he demands you bring back the slime who kidnapped his little... 'Punky-Muffin'."''
--->-- '''TC-70'''

Heir apparent to the Hutt empire, Jabba's infant son was barely old enough to slither before his conniving and power-hungry great-uncle, Ziro, already had him marked for death at the time of the Clone Wars. Ziro arranged for Rotta to be kidnapped as part of an elaborate scheme to discredit the Jedi Knights and prevent them from entering an alliance with the Hutts.
----
* AffectionateNickname: Jabba calls him "Punky-Muffin". Anakin and Ahsoka call him "Stinky".
* BadassAndBaby: He was the "baby" part of this to both Ahsoka and Anakin.
* TheCameo: After first appearing in the PilotMovie, he reappears in "Sphere of Influence".
* ChildrenAreInnocent: In spite of being involved with the affairs of a crime lord, the infant seems to be good-natured.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Jabba loved the little guy.
* ImprobableInfantSurvival: Even though the plot of ''The Clone Wars'' pilot movie involves around him being kidnapped and possibly being hurt, no harm befalls him.
* MissingMom: With the retcon that Hutts are no longer asexually-reproducing hermaphrodites like they were in ''Legends'' (making Jabba a TrulySingleParent in that continuity), it's now clear that Rotta had a mother. What isn't quite clear is her identity and her fate.
* MoralityPet: To Jabba. He's one of the few people he genuine cares about.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: He is a very adorable Hutlett.
* UglyCute:[[invoked]] As Ahsoka points out, he's a Hutt, but that doesn't stop him from being very adorable.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: As a result of being Jabba's son and heir, it remains to be seen what happened to Rotta after his father's death in ''Return of the Jedi'' (if he even survived that long). [[spoiler:It is implied in ''[[Literature/AftermathLifeDebt Life Debt]]'' that he may be the baby Hutt that Malikili is given to take care of.]]

----
* AllThereInTheManual: Her full name is revealed in the reference book ''"Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know"''.
* TheDon: She runs a major Hutt crime syndicate, although she is subservient to Jabba.
* MouthOfSauron: Jabba does not attend meetings of the council himself and makes rare appearances by hologram. Instead, Gardulla represents his interests and opinions.

* TheSyndicate: As part of the Grand Hutt Council, she helps direct the Hutt's criminal enterprises, and she has added power from being Jabba's representative.

-->''"Bargain rather than fight? He's no Jedi."''

Jabba the Hutt's majordomo, whose affiliation with Jabba stretched over decades.
----
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: He seems to be completely loyal to Jabba in the Canon. His ''Legends'' counterpart was TheStarscream to Jabba, having made multiple unsuccessful assassination attempts on the Hutt.
* AlienHair: His lekku.
* BilingualDialogue: He spoke only Huttese while conversing with Luke Skywalker, who spoke in Basic.
* CunningLinguist: Although he only speaks Huttese in ''Return of the Jedi'' (as per the rules of Jabba's court), his [[http://www.starwars.com/databank/bib-fortuna databank entry]] notes he understands many languages.
* DeathByAdaptation: [[UncertainDoom He was last seen alive aboard Jabba's sail barge]]. The canonical ''Star Wars'' [[http://www.starwars.com/databank/bib-fortuna databank entry]] states he died when the barge exploded instead of escaping as he did in the ''Legends'' continuity. Then again, considering what eventually becomes of him there, being perhaps the epitome of AndIMustScream, Fortuna ultimately ended up getting away from what can easily be argued a FateWorseThanDeath.
* TheDragon: As Jabba's major-domo, he runs his Jabba's day-to-day business, vets those seeking an audience with him, and offers advice and information.
* EvilAlbino: Twi'leks come in a variety of colors, so it makes sense that some of them would be albinos.
* EvilOldFolks: Bib is quite a senior citizen. Twi'leks have roughly the same lifespan as humans. Bib was serving Jabba for decades, and back in Episode One he wasn't exactly young. This didn't stop him from having [[ALadyOnEachArm his own slave girl]] in ''Return of the Jedi''.
* RubberForeheadAlien: He's a Twi'lek.
* ScaryTeeth: He has very sharp and pointy teeth. Justified as male Twi'leks usually have their teeth filed.
* SycophanticServant: According to Boba Fett in ''From a Certain Point of View'', he constantly sucks up to Jabba.
* WeakWilled: Luke easily dominates him with a JediMindTrick to gain an audience with Jabba.

* BodyHorror: His head is about the size of a human and his short, stubby, body is about half its size. He looks like a horrid mix between an elephant and an aged human. He became popular with some fans just because of how ugly he is! Apparently, all Chevins look like this.
* MeaningfulName: "Ephant Mon" sounds like "Elephant Man", which is what the character looks like.

The keeper of Jabba's rancor. After the disintegration of Jabba's criminal empire, Malakili joined the settlement of "Freetown".
----
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: After the death of the rancor, he tried to find companionship in other creatures, even attempting to train the sarlacc. When this failed he wandered around Tatooine until he met Cobb Vanth, sheriff of Freetown, who offered him work as a ronto tamer and [[spoiler:as the caretaker of a baby Hutt.]]
* FanDisservice: A overweight hairy man without a shirt crying over the body of a rancor certainly helps balance out the {{Fanservice}} from Jabba's slave girls.
* FluffyTamer: He tamed a rancor, one of the most fearsome beasts in the galaxy, and is devastated when Luke kills it.

* {{Cthulhumanoid}}: Comes with being a Quarren (and the first one introduced in the Canon).
* MorallyBankruptBanker: He took advantage of his position as Jabba's bookkeeper to embezzle money into his own accounts.

However, as Tessek was present on Jabba's sail barge at the Pit of Carkoon, Jabba didn't get to act on Tessek's treachery.
* UncertainDoom: He was last seen aboard Jabba's sail barge. * AIIsACrapshoot: She was meant to be a supervisor droid that served as a peaceful moisture vaporator mechanic. However, she had a programming defect shared among many other EV units that made them unusually cruel towards other droids. She was one of the few EV units to escape [=MerenData's=] mass recall and ended up in Jabba's droid pool. ''Legends'' material suggests this programming glitch in the EV-series is actually a result of a manufacturing error that involved installing a motivator from an illegal torture droid in them.
* CreatorCameo: Voiced by the director of ''Return of the Jedi''.
* MookLieutenant: In charge of the droids who serve Jabba.
* RoboticPsychopath: She appears to take great pleasure in torturing Jabba's other droids. However, this is a trope inherent in all EV units because of [[AIIsACrapshoot programming errors]].
* TortureTechnician: Gleefully orders the destruction of droids who fail to do their jobs. Unsurprisingly, she was sadistic towards droids before she was acquired by Jabba.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: For Jabba and his criminal empire. She assigns R2-D2 to serve drinks on Jabba's sail barge, which puts R2 in a position to begin Luke's plan.

* BeautifulSlaveGirl: Formerly provided the trope image. She is chained to Jabba and forced to dance for his entertainment. When she tries to resist his advances, he simply sends her plummeting into the rancor pit.
* ButtMonkey: She spends most of her screentime being harassed by [[AbhorrentAdmirer Jabba]] and forced to dance for him, and is [[CruelAndUnusualDeath fed to a rancor]] after defying him. Even worse, this was apparently only days before Jabba is killed by the heroes of the film, meaning they could probably have freed her if she'd still been alive (in ''Legends'', Luke Skywalker actually was intending to do so, but sadly she got on Jabba's bad side before the plan could be realized).

----
* ArmlessBiped: As a result of a retcon to make the Ortolan species more in line with the original intent of the Max Rebo puppet, what appears to be arms are actually their legs, which they still use as arms. In ''Legends'', Ortolans were usually depicted as humanoid (and most writers presumed Rebo's lower body was concealed by the organ).
* BigEater: All Ortolans are this. Jabba bribed Rebo [[FoodAsBribe with free meals]] in exchange for his band being a permanent attraction in Jabba's palace. To say that the rest of the band (who are neither Ortolan nor as food-motivated) was pissed with Rebo's decision would be an understatement.

-->''"No one would suspect that a lovely creature such as myself could do a bounty hunter's work."''

Sy Snootles, a long-limbed Pa'lowick, was a popular singer and dancer whose patrons included Jabba the Hutt. Very few realized that she also worked as a spy for the Hutt criminal cartels, and that she betrayed her love, Ziro the Hutt, in exchange for a big payday. She later worked in Jabba's Palace as the lead singer of the Max Rebo Band.
----
* AscendedExtra: She was just a singer in Jabba's palace in ''Return of the Jedi'', but received an expanded role in ''The Clone Wars'' episode "Hunt for Ziro".
* AmbiguouslyBi: One of her appearances in ''The Clone Wars'' features a cameo of her leaving a bar with a Twi'lek dancer in each arm telling them how much she loves them. Granted, she was also implied to be absolutely stinking drunk at the time. She says "I love you '''guys'''," something straight people of either gender say at the end of a wild night on the town; [[ZigzaggedTrope on the other hand]] they are coming out of what is clearly a strip club, because inside we see a poster of a Twi'lek poledancer and a patron [[GettingCrapPasttheRadar actually getting a table dance from another dancer who at first we can't even tell is wearing anything]]. By the time she joined the Max Rebo Band, she was also really close friends with Greeata and refused to join the band if Rebo didn't hire her as well.
* FanDisservice: During her musical scenes, she's often paired alongside [[GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe scantily-clad dancers of species most humans would find at least remotely attractive]] (usually as the main attraction), and Sy Snootles is a half-naked [[MixAndMatchCritters giraffe-frog creature]] with a lipstick-tipped proboscis. According to the writers of "Hunt for Ziro", she and Ziro the Hutt (not-so-attractive to humans either) were shown kissing precisely because none of the viewers would want to see that.
* HiddenDepths: She's a Hutt spy. She even lampshades this when she says that nobody would expect a lounge singer to be an effective hunter.
* InterspeciesRomance: Formerly had a relationship with Ziro the Hutt, that ended when he sent her away from Coruscant.
* KarmaHoudini: So far, she has yet to receive any comeuppance for killing Ziro ([[KickTheSonOfABitch not that he was a saint either]]).

* PreMortemOneLiner: To Ziro before shooting him:

* SickeningSweethearts: With Ziro. Subverted later on, when it's revealed that she was only playing the part after Ziro left her.
* WomanScorned: One reason she turned on Ziro was because of how abruptly he had ended their prior relationship and sent her away to Nal Hutta.
* WritingByTheSeatOfYourPants: InUniverse. Her lyrics for "Jedi Rocks" were improvised when Max Rebo mistook Jabba's advances on Oola as a request for another song, leading to a variation on the band's usual routine.

* SmugSnake: He certainly has a very bloated opinion of himself, but in the end, his ego eclipses his competence.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: He has green eyes and purple skin like his mother, Mama the Hutt and they seem to share a habbit of touching their chin very similarly while thinking. They're also the only known Hutts in the Canon to use Basic instead of Huttese as their primary form of communication.
* TattooedCrook: He has several tattoos all across his body.
* TheUnfavorite: Mama the Hutt made some rather derogatory remarks about him when he visited her, including how she wouldn't have had to tell his brother Ebor to pass her the food. Subverted somewhat in that she ''does'' care for him, as she allows him to borrow her starship when she learns that Gardulla is after him, and reveals his location to the Jedi in order to protect him from Cad Bane.

Mother of Ziro, grandmother of Jabba, and great-grandmother of Rotta, Mama resides in a [[{{Pun}} hut]], deep within the swamps of Nal Hutta.
----
* ButtMonkey: She didn't have a good day in "Hunt for Ziro". First, Ziro shows up to her place in dinner time "after years of never calling", swaps his swamp speeder (which couldn't possibly support Mama's bulk) to her starship, which he promises to return. Then, Cad Bane barges in and threatens her to give up the skinny on where Ziro headed, then two Jedi show-up, one of them breaks down her door, and they leave without fixing it; and to top it off, Ziro is killed, meaning she'll never get her starship back.
* CrypticBackgroundReference: Ziro mentions that Gardulla would ''never'' show up to Mama's place.
* {{Gonk}}: Even by Hutt standards, she's incredibly ugly.
* HeavyVoice: Although she's already morbidly obese by her first (and only) appearence, her ridiculously deep voice that makes Darth Vader sound like Music/MichaelJackson in comparison can only be attributed to this trope.
* JabbaTableManners: She's so horribly overweight, she can't even eat by herself, requiring droids to lift the food to her mouth, which she then grabs by her tongue.
* LargeAndInCharge: She is by far the largest Hutt seen in the Canon and comments made by Ziro indicate that the other Hutts are afraid to cross her.
* NoNameGiven: No one mentions her by name in the Canon, and the official Encyclopedia, and the episode guide of "Hunt for Ziro" refers to her only as "Mama" or "Mama the Hutt".
* ShoutOut: She was partly inspired by the character Pearl, a massively obese Vampire from the 1998 film, Film/{{Blade}}.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Ziro inherited his green eyes and purple skin from her and they seem to share a habbit of touching their chin very similarly while thinking. They're also the only known Hutts to use Basic, instead of Huttese as their primary form of communication.

* BadassInDistress: [[spoiler:After being defeated by Kreel, Grakkus is arrested by the Empire and his collection is seized by Darth Vader]].
* ButtMonkey: All three of non-cameo his appearances have so far ended in pain and humiliation for him. His attempt to collect Luke as the crown of his collection of Jedi artifacts ends with him under arrest and his collection seized by the Empire. His attempt to double-cross Han Solo ends with him still a captive, and now outfitted with a device tuned to subject him to electric shocks at Han's whim. His attempt to use Terex and Poe Dameron to escape jail ends with him still in jail, but now minus the force field that protected said jail from the planet's crushing gravity.
* CollectorOfTheStrange: Has a large collection of Jedi artifacts including lightsabers and holocrons.
* FatBastard: Averted for a Hutt, he is instead pretty muscular. Played straight later as he has lost quite a bit of muscle while in prison for several decades.
* HollywoodCyborg: Has several artificial spider-like legs, allowing him to move faster than normal Hutts.
* PlayingBothSides: Manipulates both the Resistance and First Order into breaking him out of Megalox by offering information on Lor San Tekka to whoever frees him.

* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: He's 600 years old, people.

* AlienHair: His lekku.

-->''"Oh, you can't imagine the unspeakable things I've suffered! The horror!"''

Jabba the Hutt's Uncle Ziro conspired with Count Dooku to kidnap Jabba's son Rotta, reasoning that when the Jedi sent to retrieve Rotta died, the Republic would be forced to apprehend Jabba, leading to Ziro gaining control of their clan. When the conspiracy unraveled, Ziro was imprisoned on Coruscant. Cad Bane freed him and turned him over to the Hutt Council, who feared that Ziro might tell the Republic of their many dirty dealings. Ziro escaped the Hutts, but could not outrun his past.
----
* BadBoss: When one of his most "trusted" assassin droids failed a mission, he was outright glad, that he finally had a reason to have it dismantled.
* BigBadWannabe: He entered into an alliance with Dooku solely to gain hold of Jabba's territories and with it, control over the Hutt Council. However, he ends up kriffing the whole thing.
* CampStraight: Despite his effeminite speech-pattern, easily-induced fits of hysteria, and colorful appearance, he's straight as revealed in "Hunt for Ziro".
* ComplainingAboutRescuesTheyDontLike: A minor example; during his escape from prison, he complained right after being released because it was too bright out and would've preferred the breakout to have occurred at night.
* ComicBookFantasyCasting: His voice was based on Truman Capote's.
* DeathByWomanScorned: He is shot to death by Sy Snootles, of all people.
* [[DramaQueen Drama Crime Lord]]: Just listen to how he describes life in prison to Cad Bane...
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: He said he couldn't bring himself to tell Mama the Hutt that his father had run away and died because he didn't want her to be miserable.
* EvilLaugh: He has probably the hammiest laughter in ''The Clone Wars''. Lampshaded by Ahsoka, who heard it in a vision of hers:
-->'''Ahsoka:''' ... I hear laughter... ''Bizarre'' laughter...
* EvilUncle: He tried to have his nephew Jabba and Jabba's son Rotta murdered, so he could take over Jabba's "businesses" and position.
* FatBastard: Typical for a Hutt. However, he takes the cake when he plots to have his great-nephew kidnapped and killed in order to rise in the Hutt ranks.
* FamousLastWords: His final words as he dies after being being blasted to death by Sy Snootles are, "Oh, what a world!".
* {{Homage}}: His voice, appearance, and mannerism are a homage to Truman Capote.
* HotSkittyOnWailordAction: Granted, he's small for a Hutt, but Sy is still considerably smaller than he is.
* InterspeciesRomance: At some point, he (Hutt) had a relationship with Sy Snootles (Pa'lowick).
* LargeHam: Being based on the CampGay Truman Capote, this aspect of his character was inevitable.
* ShoutOut: As he dies, he mutters "[[Literature/TheWonderfulWizardOfOz Oh, what a world]]..."
* SimpletonVoice: He speaks basic and has the accent of a Southern hillbilly.
* SissyVillain: He isn't a very tough individual, even when ordering his lackeys around.

-->''"Should have figured, after all these years of never callin', you'd show up at dinner time."''

----
* {{Acrofatic}}: Downplayed. Grakkus was more muscular than fat in his prime, but he was still bulky enough to be barely mobile on his own. He was augmented with cybernetic spider legs to help him move faster.
* AliensSpeakingEnglish: Unlike most other Hutts, who are always shown speaking subtitled or translated Huttese, Grakkus speaks Basic in his dealings with others, like Ziro and Mama.
* AllThereInTheManual: His full name is provided in the ''Smuggler's Guide''.
* ArcVillain: He is the primary antagonist of "Showdown on the Smugglers' Moon", the second arc of the ''Star Wars'' comic series.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: Unlike most Hutts, Grakkus is strong, muscular, and more than able to hold his own in a fight.
-->'''Grakkus:''' [[BadassBoast The most dangerous thing in Grakkus's arena isn't some savage beast or mindless monster. It's]] '''''[[BadassBoast Grakkus]]'''''.
* StoutStrength: While in better physical shape than other Hutts in his prime, Grakkus still had some bulk on him. He's also strong enough to lift a full-grown humanoid adult off the ground with one hand.
* TooDumbToLive: He wears a necklace of Jedi lightsabers around his neck, which he forgets about when he does a NeckLift to a traitorous minion.

His love for his son was apparently strong enough to make him relent and allow Papanoida to make a case against Greedo when he appealed to his love for Rotta to have him help him find his daughters.

* BullyingADragon: This seems to be an unfortunate trait of Jabba's when dealing with Force-users like the Jedi or Sith. Whenever they come for negotiations or with forcible demands, Jabba always acts like he's the more powerful of the two even if the person in question can easily use the Force or their lightsaber to kill him.

** When Darth Vader himself came on behalf of the Empire, Jabba is rather unimpressed by his presence and [[WrongGenreSavvy mistakenly believes he is a Jedi]]. After slaughtering most of Jabba's thugs, Vader swiftly reminds Jabba that he's dealing with a Sith Lord by [[ForceChoke Force-choking the Hutt into submission]]. Even then, Jabba is less afraid and more amused by Vader's intimidation methods.
** This ultimately leads to his downfall when he decides to not heed Luke's warnings or demands (despite the fact he managed to kill a Rancor without a lightsaber), and decides to execute him and his friends at the Great Pit of Carkoon. His men get overwhelmed by Luke thanks to the "gifts" that Jabba foolishly took, and Jabba ends up being strangled by Leia, a rebel leader he thought he could easily make a slave out of.
