!!Br'er Rabbit
[[quoteright:180:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brer_rabbit.jpg]]
* BarefootCartoonAnimal: His rabbit feet are displayed in all his appearances.
* GuileHero: Uses his wit and cunning to get out of any situation.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Joel Chandler Harris gives Riley as Br'er Rabbit's real name. A ''very'' few Disney comics mention it now and then.

!!Br'er Fox

* BarefootCartoonAnimal: Like all other anthropomorphic animals in the film.
* BrainsAndBrawn: The brains.
* CunningLikeAFox: Also conniving but unfortunately for him NOT clever like a fox.
* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: By his third appearance, he's smart enough to simply not believe a word Br'er Rabbit says.
* TheHyena: His manic demeanour is complimented by his maniacal laughter.
* {{Jerkass}}: And '''how'''.
* {{Keet}}: He sure is full of energy.
* LeanAndMean: No wonder he's so hot on that rabbit's trail; Br'er Rabbit'd be the only square meal Br'er Fox's had in a while!
* MotorMouth: The Disney animation directors actually had to invent a new animation process to keep up with James Baskett's rapid-fire delivery of Br'er Fox's dialogue.
* ObviouslyEvil: Basically the villain of the movie, though Ginny's brothers aren't too far behind.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: He insists on being the one to not only outwit but also kill Br'er Rabbit even if he has to fight with Br'er Bear about it.
* SparedByTheAdaptation: Generally, stories involving Br'er Rabbit and Br'er Fox end with Fox getting caught in his own trap and dying, which naturally doesn't happen here. Granted, he would always return for the next tale.
* VillainousGlutton: For someone so thin, he is very obsessed with cooking Br'er Rabbit. Though it must be said that it is more about pride and hatred than food as he was willing to forgo a meal if that meant he would give Br'er Rabbit the worst fate he could think of.

!!Br'er Bear

* BearsAreBadNews: If you happen to be a potential meal or cause of irritation for him watch out
* BearyFunny: He is so stupid it is amusing and also has a playful and lighthearted side in him.
* DumbMuscle: The muscle is the only thing he is using and he's too slow to realise any obvious tricks unti the Fox plainly points them out.
* BrainsAndBrawn: The brawn.
* CatchPhrase: '''''"NOW LOOK!"'''''
* HalfDressedCartoonAnimal: Fittingly for the setting.
* TheBrute: The only way he knows in dealing with his anger is threatening to bludgeon the source of it. So yeah...
* TooDumbToLive: He's pretty much a plot device, both in the movie and the folk tale, to screw with Br'er Fox and his plans.
* VillainousGlutton: He liked the idea of eating Br'er Rabbit.

!!Uncle Remus

* AdultsAreUseless: Averted but in his case only.
%%* CoolOldGuy
* MagicalNegro: His wiseness and
** He could also be a subversion, since in the end he actually DOES step forward and save the day.
* NiceGuy: He's the only character in the movie to not be shown having any real character flaws or being rude to people at any point. Given that the movie was trying promote tolerance, this was probably intentional.
