* RuleOfDrama: There's no stated in-universe reason why Jaegers use a [[BrainComputerInterface neural interface]] given the acknowledged drawbacks (harmful or potentially deadly feedback, it severely limiting the pool of potential pilots) and [[MotionCaptureMecha their control scheme]] would seemingly work without. Out of universe it provides a lot of character drama; putting pilots in danger that wouldn't be as impactful if only their machines were damaged, leading to a lot of the character chemistry between pilots.

* ItsPersonal: [[spoiler: After Otachi downs Typhoon,]] Aleksis [[TranquilFury coldly growls]] "Let's get this bastard" and Cherno slams its mighty fists together in evident rage.

Added DiffLines:

* AllAsiansKnowMartialArts: Played with. Emphasizing speed and agility, Typhoon has a lithe and lean figure like its pilots, in contrast to [[HuskyRusskie its big, bulky partner Cherno Alpha]] (and ''its'' pilots). However, the Wei brothers' preferred PT is basketball, and while they (and Typhoon) take a very Wushu-inspired stance during the Thundercloud Formation attack, this isn't out of the ordinary for Jaeger pilots. The actual moves it uses against Otachi more resemble pro wrestling or Philippine knife fighting with its bladed hands. [[spoiler: Ultimately to no avail as Otachi [[OffWithHisHead decapitates Typhoon]] with its [[OneHitKill tail pincer.]]]]

* AwesomeAussie: Australian in origin, jobs the Kaiju Mutavore (who made short work of the defensive wall) in its first appearance, and easily [[GameBreaker the fastest and strongest of the remaining Jaegers.]] ''OI OI OI!''

spelling/grammar fix(es)

* AchillesHeel: [[spoiler: Its [[CranialProcessingUnit conn pod]] lacks the same level of protection as the other surviving Jaegers., [[DiscardAndDraw likely as part of it's design emphasizing agility, and rapid full-body motions]], it was designed to prioritize range of motion and ability to track it's opponent while the rest of the body engaged in it's acrobatic fighting style, rather than for immediate protection.]]

By TRS decision Whip It Good is now a disambiguation page. Moving entries to appropriate tropes when possible.

* JackOfAllStats: Not as tough or hard-hitting as [[MightyGlacier Bracer Phoenix]], or as fast as [[FragileSpeedster Saber Athena]], or has the range of [[WhipItGood Guardian Bravo]], but solidly in between all of them.

* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Most of the Jaegers are fairly humanoid, except Crimson Typhoon has ''three'' arms and digitgrade legs and Cherno Alpha has, in place of a normal head, something that looks like a nuclear cooling tower (which it more or less is; Cherno's reactor is mounted in the head and its cockpit is mounted in the chest, where most Jaegers are set up with the reverse).

* ILoveNuclearPower: Powered by a nuclear reactor, which vents excess heat through a turbine mounted on its chest. [[spoiler:This proved to be an important plot point twice: it renders Gipsy Danger resistant to Leatherback's EMP ability and was later detonated (along with the rest of the Jaeger) to seal the rift.]]

* RasputinianDeath: Between having its reactor go critical, torn to pieces (one arm and a good portion of its head/chest), being ''lunged on by two kaijus'', the Cherno Alpha only stopped fighting when its Conn-pod was crushed, killing its pilots. By comparison, the Crimson Typhoon was killed with a single strike at its head (granted, said attack also killed its pilots). Given that it's a Russian Jaeger, this is probably intentional.

* AwesomeMcCoolname: ''All'' of them! Even the designation 'Jaeger,' which is the German word for "hunter".

* NonindicativeName: In the Russian dub its name is ''Cherniy Alfa'' [[note]]Черный Альфа[[/note]]. Translated this means "Black Alpha". While still [[AwesomeMcCoolname cool-sounding]] it's funny [[DontExplainTheJoke because Cherno is green]].
