     In General

Hidden Stone Village provide example of:

  • Dishing Out Dirt: The ninja of the village specialize in rock-based jutsu. Though fire is also an equally-important component (lava, bombs...)
  • Hufflepuff House: The Hidden Stone is almost never involved in the storyline until the Kage Summit Arc. None of their villagers even appear in Part I at all, unless you count Kakashi Gaiden as Part I (which it isn't).

    Third Tsuchikage

Onoki

Voiced by: Tomomichi Nishimura (JP), Steve Blum (ENG)

The current, extremely elderly leader of the Village Hidden in the Stones. Very proud, despite his frailty, and shows little respect to those much younger than him.

During the Kage Summit, he admitted to have frequently hired Akatsuki. He defended his action, stating that the use of Akatsuki was necessary to protect themselves while still demilitarizing, but this and his advanced age still lead Mifune to deny him leadership of the forces to lead against Akatsuki. When Sasuke intrudes on the meeting room chasing after Danzo, he refuses to take part in the fight. Due to Gaara's actions and words during the meeting, Onoki reverts back to the noble man he once was before he became hard-headed. Later, he goes out to find Kabuto and prevent him from finding Killer Bee and Naruto and succeeds in protecting them.

Throughout the war, Onoki's techniques proved instrumental in keeping Alliance members alive and he becomes the de-facto leader in the assault against the real Madara Uchiha.

Years later, Onoki retires due to his failing health and passes down his title to his granddaughter.
  • All Your Powers Combined: Jinton uses Fire, Earth and Wind natures in perfect harmony.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: He acts as Jerkass at Kage Summit, especially to Gaara, but the latter asks him When did you lose yourselves?. It leads him to become kinder.
  • Badass Grandpa: Easily the oldest ninja in the Grand Ninja Alliance. Despite his aching back, it limited his abilities only slightly.
  • Crack! Oh My Back!: Almost word for word.
  • Cynicism Catalyst: He lost sight of who he was after a confrontation when Madara forcibly declared that despite the alliance between their villages Konoha was to remain the dominant village and Iwagakure was to obey. He lost trust in the other villages and the idea of peace between shinobi.
  • Determinator: After he's pretty much left half-dead from Madara's double meteorites, he decides to keep fighting and really cut loose in the fight.
  • Elemental Powers: He (allegedly) has three, plus one combined: wind, fire and earth.
  • Flight: He's capable of unassisted flight.
  • Heroic Lineage: Databook 4 reveals him to be the grandson of the First Tsuchikage.
  • Heroic Willpower: He was the only one to recover from the pollen created by Madara's World Forest technique, and destroyed it completely, even injuring Madara himself.
  • Miniature Senior Citizen: He is roughly 1.5 times as tall as his Nice Hat is long.
  • My Country, Right or Wrong: He's infamous among the Kage for having actually contracted the Akatsuki several times in the past for the Iwagakure's benefit, which makes his arguments during the Summit a bit hypocritical. Granted, by then, he is ashamed for having done so.
  • Nothing Personal: While having nothing against him personally, he chooses to kill Sasuke at the Kage Summit because many people want the guy dead.
  • Old Soldier: He has faced the best of the best the Ninja World had to offer, lived through all four Shinobi Wars, and is still alive as Kage, a position with an almost 100% mortality rate. He's actually a long-time contemporary of the Third Hokage (e.g. Hiruzen Sarutobi), who would be as much as an Old Soldier as Onoki had he not bite the dust earlier.
    • In fact, he even lived all the way up to Naruto's reign, which would mean he'd be well over ninety at that point.
  • One-Man Army: He is one of the Kages and according to the Second Tsuchikage, his mentor, he could destroy entire armies of Ninjas without problem if he so much wished.
  • One-Hit Kill: His jinton can destroy at the molecular level. It's also normally measured by mile damage radius.
  • Opportunistic Bastard: He was this kind of person before the Kage Summit but after Gaara asked him when he lost himself he decided not to have Naruto and Bee dealt with in an attempt to weaken Konoha and Kumo.

    Kurotsuchi

Kurotsuchi

The Tsuchikage's Granddaughter and bodyguard. She refers to Deidara as her big brother, but this is pretty much either an honorific that she grew up close to him. She later becomes the Fourth Tsuchikage sometime after the war.
  • Action Girl: She's a kage and a woman. And while she may not be as insanely powerful as Tsunade, she more than deserves her title.
  • Bifauxnen: Seriously, it's only the Kunoichi skirt that tells you she is a woman. And for a while, like Fuu (the jinchuuriki), people were unsure because of lack of reference, only Kurotsuchi's a bit worse at this.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Pupil-less with pink sclera.
  • Magma Woman: Her Kekkei Genkai lets her use lava jutsus, which combine Dishing Out Dirt and Playing with Fire.
  • Heroic Lineage: Great-great-granddaughter of the First Tsuchikage, and the granddaughter of the Third.
  • The Leader: In the epilogue, she is Tsuchikage, leading the Stone Village.
  • Making a Splash: She can use water jutsus.
  • Meaningful Name: Means "black earth".
  • My Country, Right or Wrong: At one point, she suggests simply having Naruto and Killer Bee executed - her reasoning being that it will both set back Akatsuki's plans and strengthen Iwagakure's standing amongst the Five Great Villages.
  • Nerves of Steel: The Juubi breaks free of her father's jutsu and she tells him that their attacks won't work anymore while remaining calm.
  • Not So Above It All: She berates Akatsuchi for his childish glee at flying even when she is secretly as excited as him.
  • The Smurfette Principle: As of the epilogue, the sole female kage.
  • Super Mode:When Naruto gives her some of his chakra.
  • The Ugly Guy's Hot Daughter: Onoki's her grandfather, Kitsuchi's her father, Akatsuchi might be her brother. She might as well be the White Sheep of the family.
  • Theme Naming: With her partner Akatsuchi and her father Kitsuchi.

    Akatsuchi

The Tsuchikage's other bodyguard and possible grandson, given the name and similar looks to Kitsuchi. Like Akatsuchi he knows Deidara who resents him for always getting in his way.
  • Smarter Than You Look: He in fact is a brilliant Ninja who at least can see the consequences of his actions like using a massive destructive technique next to their charge is not a good idea.

    Kitsuchi

Kitsuchi

Kurotsuchi's father and possibly related to the Tsuchikage as well as Akatsuchi given the names and similar looks. Appointed as the Commander of the 2nd Division of the Allied Shinobi Forces.

     Second Tsuchikage

Muu

Voiced by: Osamu Mukai (JP)

http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/5ucerwl.png

Previous Tsuchikage, master of Onoki and creator of the fearsome Kekkei Tota Jinton (Dust release), one of the deadliest techniques ever forged. He was an extremely respected and feared leader of Iwagakure and the strongest Shinobi ever lived from said Village. He died undetermined years before the series started at the hands of his Archnemesis, the Nidaime Mizukage in a double kill. He was revived by Edo Tensei and forced to battle the 4th Batallion and his former pupil along with the rest of the Kages. Besides being a very tall man covered in bandages wearing a dark colored headband with no markings, extremely polite and fanatical loyal to Iwa, not much is known of him.
  • A Father to His Men: But don't expect any mercy if you are from another Village.
  • All Your Powers Combined: Jinton uses Fire, Earth and Wind natures in perfect harmony.
  • Arch-Enemy: The Nidaime Mizukage to the bitter end. Even so, he doesn't seem to had any ill will to the man and even respected him. The Nidaime was not amused.
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: He was the Tsuchikage and more than lived up to his title.
  • Combat by Champion: Justified. Only Kage level individuals could face him. Anything less would instantly die without contributing anything to the fight. That's the reason why only Onoki and Gaara (and later Naruto) fought him, while the other Kages faced the entire batallion.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: "Alliances only exist until you can safely stab your allies in the back."
  • Combat Pragmatist: So much that he was deemed to be too much, even by other Shinobi forces during his reign and shocked to the core the other Kages with his underhanded methods against the Shinobi Alliance.
  • Deadpan Snarker
  • Didn't See That Coming: His death. Also, Naruto's Planetary Rasengan with his Chakra arms took him by surprise.
  • Disintegrator Ray: Uses the same Dust Release as Onoki.
  • Gravity Master: He taught Onoki everything he knows and was deemed superior to his former pupil.
  • I Cannot Self-Terminate: Like the rest of the Kages, he wants to be liberated from Edo Tensei. At difference of them, he never revealed his secrets, only asking Onoki to be the one to do it. The reason for this is likely there isn't any 'secret' or weakness to Mu's Jinton. Only Onoki as another Jinton user could defeat him.
  • Implausible Fencing Powers: While only aluded, he was deemed an extremely deadly swordman.
  • Invisibility: To the point of being deemed Mujin (non-person), for it was considered impossible to detect him; only the Mizukage had ever successfully done it. While perfect, the technique had to be shed before a fight.
  • Me's a Crowd: His splitting technique.
  • My Country, Right or Wrong: He only cares for Iwagakure and will do absolutely anything to protect it. His underhanded methods was what brought the wrath of the Nidaime Mizukage.
  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: He can sense chakra, nature, level and DNA energy miles away with absolute precision. It's also impossible to ambush him Not even Naruto Kyubi Mode velocity managed that.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: You know that the guy is badass, when the resident Old Jackass calls him sir.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: He could level entire cities if he so much as wished it, and levitating mountains would barely tax him.
  • One-Man Army: Numbers are meaningless to him. He could slaughter entire armies without effort. The only way to battle him is with another legendary warrior as Onoki, Gaara and Naruto Kyubi Mode show.
  • One-Hit Kill: His jinton can destroy at the molecular level. It's also normally measured by mile damage radius.
  • Stealth Expert: He could turn invisible.
  • Super Reflexes: Good enough to sense and avoid Naruto in Kyubi mode.
  • Superpowerful Genetics: Superpowerful enough to be blessed with a blood line expansion.
  • Superpower Lottery:Is able to use Earth-Fire-Wind Release.
  • Taking You with Me: With second Mizukage, although it was unintentional.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Iwagakure. Taken to its logical conclusion. Even after death and defeat, he tried to make Iwa superior to the other Villages.
  • Worthy Opponent: The Nidaime Mizukage. The feeling was not mutual.

     Roshi

     Han

     Gari

Gari

Voiced by Takuji Katō (JP)

Gari (ガリ, Gari) is a famed Iwagakure shinobi and a member of the village's Explosion Corps who was brought back to life by edo tensei during the Fourth Shinobi World War.
  • Back from the Dead: Brought back to life via Edo Tensei.
  • Blood Knight: Unlike in the manga, the anime showed that he had a taste for fighting, being glad that he was brought back, and had no intent of allowing himself to be sealed.
  • Having a Blast: Creates explosionís by punching using his Explosion Release kekkei genkai
  • One-Hit Kill: He lands a hit and you become nothing but dust in the wind.
  • The Stoic: Gari is a level-headed individual, given his calm response upon being reincarnated, even explaining the situation to a fellow reincarnated Zabuza.
