Big Sister Worship: She has a lot of admiration for Davina and always looks up to her as her role model.
Boyish Short Hair: Despite not actually being a Tomboy, she sported a shorter hairstyle in the first season only. Then it grew a lot longer when the show progressed.
In contrast in the TV movie My Sister And Me, her hair was shoulder length.
Character Development: In the early seasons, she was this young teenage girl who had low self-esteem and lacked any confidence in herself, longing to branch out of her sister's shadow and finding her place in the world. Came the later seasons, she became a lot more confident and ambitious.
Cool Car: She owns a bright, yellow sportscar compared to her sister's red one.
Cool Loser: Despite her desperate attempts to become popular in school, she never really cared about popularity in the first place as most high school kids do.
The Cutie: In her earlier seasons, mainly the first season. She was this young, innocent 13-year-old Girl Next Door who lived in her sister's shadow. She sort of stepped out of that cuteness stage once she reached her early 20's.
Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: Her main goal. She tries to step out of her sister's shadow by finding something that she can accomplish something great in her life so she won't live it down forever.
The Glorious War of Sisterly Rivalry: Subverted with. Her and Davina do have a very good relationship and rarely fight, but her inferiority over her sister's academic achievements would ultimately bring out the worst in her.
Meaningful Name: Her birth name, Melina, technically means "bright yellow" in Greek. Her parents kind of expected their daughter to have beautiful blonde hair when she was born and that her name would represent her being a natural blonde.
Not So Different: From Davina. It was even pointed out that they both think alike in some ways.
She realizes that her and Garrett have something in common: They both live in their older siblings' shadows and would sometimes bond with each other over the fact that the two feel inferiority over their siblings' success and popularity.
Oblivious to Love: In the first two seasons, she clearly had no idea that Anson was in love with her.
The Cheerleader: In Season 3, her and Midge try out for the cheer squad together. She makes the team, but Midge doesn't. She happily averts the typical cheerleader personality as staying true to herself.
City Mouse: She was born in Boston, which is the city-based area of Massachussetts.
Cool Loser: Averted with. She's actually pretty popular since she's a cheerleader and would sometimes be seen hanging around with the popular crowd.
Oblivious to Love: No matter how many times Chauncey has flirted with her, she could never take a hint that she was the object of his affections. Midge was so frustrated over Farrah's oliviousness of Chauncey's crush on her, she blatantly told her about Chauncey's crush on her. Farrah thought it was cute that he has a crush on her, much to Midge's dismay.
One Head Taller: She's an inch taller than Midge. Ironically, her mom is much taller than she is.
Only Child Syndrome: She's always had a problem with being an only child and always wishes she had siblings of her own.
What Beautiful Eyes: By Chauncey, who would always compliment on her beautiful blue eyes everytime she's in the room.
When She Smiles: Again, by Chauncey. He would always compliment her smile by saying she lights up his life with her shiny white teeth.
Anson Virgil Howerton, Midge's childhood best friend and later boyfriend
The Ace: He's very good at sports such as basketball, baseball and football.
All Love Is Unrequited: Subverted. He wanted to tell Carlene that he didn't like her that way because he was in love with his best friend, but thanks to Midge, she encouraged him to go out with her because she realized how much Carlene really liked him.
Embarrassing Nickname: He had an embarrassing nickname which was "Anson The Pants", a play on "Ants in the Pants" back in preschool. His older siblings would still call him that and tease him about it, much to his chagrin.
Academic Alpha Bitch: She was an A + student back in high school and a dean's list student in college, but wasn't outright mean.
The Ace: She was very athlectic in school. When she was in elementary school, she played on the girls' softball team, in middle school, on the swim team and in high school, she was on track & field, lacrosse, played basketball for a while and was on the cheer squad.
Action Girl: For a girl, she definitely knows how to kick some serious ass.
Bare Your Midriff: During the earlier seasons, her wardrobe choices consisted of provocative, skimpier outfits that bared a bit too much of her midriff, but in her defense, it was the style trend of the late '90s/early '00s that catched on to teenage girls and young women.
Big Sister Instinct: She ultimately showed shades of this by almost destroying Cynthia when she kept on bullying Midge at her party.
Cool Car: She drives a shiny, red sports car that's very expensive, compared to Midge's yellow one.
Control Freak: Whenever her parents would put her in charge of taking care of her younger siblings while they're away, she would ultimately turn into a vicious dictator by giving orders and bossing them around.
Dangerously Shortskirt: With any provocative outfit she wears. She still wears these kind of skirts as an adult.
Girly Bruiser: She's not afraid to pull punches with anyone (even with guys), especially when she almost tried to beat the crap out of Cynthia and pummeling her onto the ground at her sister's party.
The Glorious War of Sisterly Rivalry: Subverted with. Her and Midge have a great relationship and rarely fight, but when trying to find out who's the better sister, it would sometimes bring out the worst in each other.
Beware the Nice Ones: Garrett appears as a nice guy by default, but push him around too much, you'll definitely gonna regret it. Chauncey learned that the hard way when he made him snap in front of his front.
Character Development: He stopped being the Butt Monkey in Chauncey's schemes and pranks and going through life as a tagalong with his brother's friends in the later seasons and evolved into having his own set of friends and becoming one of the most smartest kids in school with a bright future.
All Women Love Shoes: She wanted a pair of those red ten-inch heels that a girl wored at her school and begged Davina to buy them for her, only to realize that she can barely walk in them without tripping over.
Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Quite frankly, she would get caught off guard whenever she's focusing on doing her homework or not pay attention, which caused her grades to slip in the 8th grade.
Berserk Button: Don't ever say that Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy or any other imaginary creature don't exist in front of her.
Big Brother Worship / Big Sister Worship: She has always looked up to her older brothers and sisters most of the time and would always call them her heroes when they saved her from that creep Stanley from trying to rape her.
Held Back In School: Almost played with and thankfully averted. Her grades were very bad and was told that she would have to repeat the 8th grade another year. She got a tutor to help her in all of her classes and with tremendous progress, she finally passed the 8th grade completely.
Freudian Excuse: The nasty divorce between her parents, her father's remarriage to a younger woman (whom she doesn't get along well with at home) and her mother's long absence in her life has made her bitter and cruel towards her peers at school.
Hair Flip: She would generally flip her long, beautiful hair at times unless if she's trying to get a guy's attention or making herself look good.
Hidden Depths: Despite having a close relationship with her father, she painfully misses her mother.
It's All About Me: Very conceited and self-centered, she doesn't really care about anyone but herself.
Spoiled Brat: Since her dad is the chief executive of an advertising agency, one of the highest paying jobs in California, she's had everything handed down to her without ever lifting a finger. She would normally take things for granted when she doesn't always get what she wants.
Valley Girls: They're both from the valley area of California and would generally speak in valley girl accents at times.
Wanda Nightingale, Farrah's mom
Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: Her sadness, depression and grief over her deceased husband made her withdrawn and distant from her daughter Farrah, which caused their relationship to be strained.
Broken Bird: Around Seasons 3-4, she was still grieving over the loss of her husband, even to the show's prior.
Character Development: During the later seasons, she went from depressed and withdrawn to more happy and spirited once she got back in the dating scene and approving her relationship with her daughter a lot more.
Defrosting Ice Queen: When we first meet her, she was a bit snobbish and bothered by Chauncey's cocky attitude, but once Chauncey started treating her with lots of respect and dating her, she quickly warms up to him.
The Fashionista: She would always wear the most expensive and trendiest outfits to school.
