"These warm, tender fruits, I want to keep them no matter what."
From whom the Sins first appeared. A woman who lived in the Eldoh Forest with her husband, one day found a pair of red fruit in the wood. Being chased by a bear for taking something that wasn't hers and killing said bear in a panicked frenzy highlights her role as the Original Sin.
Ax-Crazy: She's got a disturbing affinity for using murder to solve her problems. Her body count so far consists of Meta (she killed her for Hansel and Gretel) and her foster children (tried to leave them for dead in the woods but it didn't work).
Brainwashed: She was given a drug for this purpose by Adam while Project [MA] was underway, which ultimately led to her miscarrying the twins and becoming mentally unstable.
My God, What Have I Done?: When she realizes that the bear she killed was a human and the fruits she stole from it/her were twin babies.
Obliviously Evil: It's implied that she didn't know that the bear was a human woman and the fruits were babies, and that her perceptions were tainted in some way. She's actually quite horrified when she realizes what she had done.
Offing the Offspring: She tries to kill Hansel and Gretel (possibly because of the famine the country was suffering), the kids she killed to get. It's this point in the Chronicles that drives home the fact that Eve Moonlit is not all there...
Hot Scientist: When he was the head of the research for the MA Project.
Idiot Ball: Seriously you'd think being the "best scientist" in the country, he would know better than to give drugs (a brainwashing drug) to a pregnant woman, taken UptoEleven considering the whole project was already unstable, being in charge he'd obviously know the dangers already implicit during the pregnancy without him sticking his hands in it.
Love Epiphany: After Project [MA] fails, Adam realizes that his love for Eve is genuine.
Mad Scientist: The best scientist in the country, he was heavily involved with Project [MA], and that's how he met Eve and fell in love with her.
Momma's Boy: He was not pleased when the senate "took his mother away" (it's strongly implied that they killed her).
My God, What Have I Done?: Due to a drug he gave Eve, she miscarried her twins, which not only ruins his chances at greatness but makes him realize he's hurt Eve.
Offing the Offspring: Along with Eve, he tries to abandon their adoptive children Hansel and Gretel in the forest.
Oh Crap: His face when he sees the "fruits" Eve has brought home.
Hansel and Gretel (Kagamine Rin and Len)
A pair of twins that Eve stole from their mother. When their adopted parents' guilt reaches its apex and they were left to die in the forest, they survive by cheering themselves up with the story of Hansel and Gretel. Deluded by madness, they reenact the story by killing the "Witch" and her "henchman", releasing the Sins to the world when Eve was killed.
Adult Fear: They were taken from their mother by a stranger in the dead of night when they were babies. Also, when Hansel was Lemy Abelard/Pierrot, he stated that the only people he killed were children.
Ax-Crazy: And they pass their insanity to their various incarnations.
Born-Again Immortality: They have to die one day like normal humans, but every several hundred years their soul will be reborn (though not always as twins) and recognized as them by these qualification; the incarnations are blond (presumably Lucifenian born), remember their past lives in varying degrees, and share their Ax-Crazy tendencies and mommy issues.
This may be due to the fact that they're not human...
Lunacy: Like their "mother", they also become mad because watching the moon light that reflected on a small glass bottle. They seem to believe that they catch the moon light inside the bottle and the light guides them back to their home.
Monster Clown: Lemy/Hansel as Pierrot. Probably the most adorable example ever...which somehow makes him even scarier.
Obliviously Evil: Neither of them ever seem to realize that they're doing anything wrong and are usually just following orders from someone who reminds them of their mother. That being said, Gretel almost always seems to be the more malicious of the two (especially as Arte and Ney Marlon).
Self-Made Orphan: Came home and killed their parents, thinking they were a witch and her assistant.
Undying Loyalty: To their "mother figures", while most likely referring to their original mother, Meta.
Meta Salmhofer (MEIKO)
"And then, the people called me a witch."
The mother/"bear" from Moonlit Bear. She became known as a "witch" due to her crimes. After being saved from execution by a scientist named Seth TwiRight, she assists him in his experiment. Hansel and Gretel are "created" solely for the purpose of this experiment. However, Meta has a change of heart and decides to save the children from being used as experimental subjects.
The Dragon: Of Pale's criminal organization, Apocalypse, seeing as she's his lover.
Heel-Face Turn: After remembering her loveless background and deciding that she didn't want to subject her children to that.
Hot Witch: Aside from the Red Baron she gains, she has some kind of magical power, that makes her a candidate for being Ma.
I Just Want to Be Loved: All her life she just wished to receive some kind of affection. She finally finds what she was searching for when she escapes with her children and gets to live together with them for a while.
Love Makes You Evil: The reason she commited "crimes" in the first place was because her lover was a killer.
"I must look for the next Ma for the sake of granting my ambition."
A scientist. He saves Meta Salmhofer from execution, after which she assists him in his experiment.
Ambition Is Evil: His reasons for joining Project [Ma] is ambition, rather than a desire to save the country from "Sin". He's portrayed in a negative light in both Escape of the Witch, Salmhofer and Project [Ma]
Determinator: He wants Project "MA" to succeed, thirteen years after he first becomes head of the project, he's still trying.
Queen of Levianta, Adam's mother, also known as the "Prophet Marry-Go-Round", who prophesized that Sin would lead to the country's destruction and the Twin Dragon Gods would save them. She was taken and presumably killed by the senate, prompting Adam to vow revenge.
Seers: Fortold the destruction of the country and the birth of the Dragon Gods.
Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: Her "disappearance" occured because the senate thought it would prevent the prophecy from coming true. Instead, they instigated the prophecy as it gave Adam a reason to swear revenge.
Kiril Clockworker (Hiyama Kiyoteru)
Called simply "The Clockworker". He is the fiancé of Elluka and the older brother of Irina, he loves them very much and is proud of them.
"Every woman who looks at me falls under a spell."
The patron sinner of the sin of Lust. He's a duke from Asmodean that is well known as a young noble with a horrible face before he makes a contract to the demon of Lust so he could have an irrestible charisma to women and abducts women from Asmodean and its neighboring countries to be a part of his harem. His Sin Vessel is the Venom Sword, a sword that was said to be made from a flower. His real name is Cherubim, he stole his younger brother's identity thanks to the Deal with the Devil he takes part into.
Bestiality Is Depraved: One of Venomania's victims is someone simply named Josephine, with her age and occupation censored. This was also the name of a character in Daughter of Evil. Specifically, it was the name of Rillianne's riding horse. Though, it might be an example of Mythology Gag.
Dead Person Impersonation: Turns out "Sati" is the nickname Gumina used with his younger brother, who looks an awful lot like Bishōnen Venomania. Considering the novel says Gumina was engaged to Venomania, yet the manga says the engagement was with his brother, this might be what's happening.
Identical Grandson: His (confirmed) descendants are either a purple-haired man, a long-haired man, or long purple haired man, all of which are played by Gakupo.
One of the exceptions to this seen within the series is Clarithnote played by Haku, who has a silver and ''purple'' color scheme, who is heavily implied to be his descendant in supplementary materials.
As more information is revealed, it seems half the cast are distantly related to Venomania, whether they're played by Gakupo or not.
Laser-Guided Amnesia: Part of the powers he got from the Demon of Lust. It's very strong, too, as it managed to make a whole town (sans Rajih) forget he was ever there, thus leaving no evidence connecting him to Ferdinand's assassination or Lilien's Dissapeareance. He was also able to remove the childhood memories of himself from Gumina's mind.
Lolicon: Implied, the list of disappeared women , includes the names of Yuki Kaina and Rindo Blume, Both of them with their ages censored, take a wild guess.
The childhood-friend-turned bully of Venomania, or so we think at first. She is his main target of affection and the reason why he makes the Deal with the Devil, little did he know that she actually returned his feelings. After the Venomania event, facing discrimination she emigrated to Elphegort alongside her father and her servant Carol, where she became the first female primer minister and a firm Eldoh believer. Her appearance becomes Guumilia's when she chooses to be a human.
Alpha Bitch: During her childhood. Also toward the harem girls that came from below her social strata.
Jerkass Façade: Turns out, she only verbally abused Venomania to thrown off the suspicion that she and Venomania would destroy the Arranged Marriage between her and Venomania's brother. Unfortunately, Venomania misinterpreted this as a genuine hatred.
The Ojou: Rich and high-class, she often looks down on those of lower social strata.
Sibling Triangle: She was in an Arranged Marriage with her childhood friend Sateriajis, though she only saw him as a friend, and as time went by she came to love his older brother Cherubim, a.k.a the Duke Venomania we know.
Undying Loyalty: Her servant Carol Shields feels this towards her and the Glassred Family.
You Go Girl: She becomes Elphegort' first female prime minister. It is also acknowledged in the Evillious Chronicles that her success set a precedent for women in politics and other positions of power.
Lukana Octo (Megurine Luka)
A 20 year old tailor and a victim of Venomania, she is noted to hold a valuable magic potential inside her. She has been close friends with Lilien and Rajih since their childhood. At some point after the Venomania event she switches bodies with Elluka.
Child by Rape: The start of the Octo-Venomania bloodline that leads us centuries later to Gammon and his brother Nyoze.
A 24 year old baker and one of Venomania's victims. Only mentioned in passing in The Madness of Duke Venomia, but become a main girl in the song's manga adaptation. A good friend of Lukana Octo, her disappearance makes Lilien uneasy and tries to do her best to search for her missing friend but ends up with a same fate. Her own disappearance, on the other hand, catches Kachess Crim's eyes on the case.
Ascended Extra: From an eyecatch to a character with personality and role.
A Count who had been having an affair with the (married) queen Yufina Marlon, and searched everywhere for her after she ran off with Venomania. He is later hired by the third imperial princess of the Beelzenian Empire to search for the missing women.
You Gotta Have Blue Hair: He introduces the blue hair into the Marlon bloodline, and it never really disappears afterwards.
Maylis Beelzenia (MEIKO)
The youngest child of emperor Jupiter Beelzenia and one of Venomania's many victims. During the Venomania Event, she investigated the disappearances within her territory, hiring spies and agents to find out the truth. She employs Kachess to perform this task at her minister's request. At some point she too became enchanted by the Duke.
A laidback warlord of Beelzenia that has a very... strange taste for her food. At first only ate the most delicious and exquisite food before her taste devolved into cannibalism. Her Sin Vessel is her glass, tainted red by her favorite wine that people have often mistaken for real blood. She is a descendant of Venomania and Maylis Beelzenia, the child conceived between the two being adopted into the Conchita clan.
Aristocrats Are Evil: Conchita is just a warlord of Beelzenia, but she seems to live in luxury, having 15 chefs and a large mansion. Apparently, you need the other aristocrats to approve of you for the job.
Abusive Parents: Has been on both ends of the trope. Her mother force-fed her and punished her when she didn't eat all her food, and as a mother comes really close to almost eating her child!
Bad Boss: Conchita eats her fifteenth chef just for asking her for a vacation, and it's likely that some of her previous chefs met the same fate. And then she eats her maid and butler for no real reason beyond still being hungry.
Karma Houdini: When you get right down to it, Conchita is the only sinner who never truly gets punished; despite her death, she still gets exactly what she wanted (to eat every type of food in the world) and ended up continuing her existence through the Demon of Gluttony.
Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: Between the abusive mother and heartbreak at the realization that the man she loved wanted to kill her, it's not much of a surprise that she snapped. But this is ultimately subverted, as it's revealed that she was crazy from the beginning.
Yandere: She really loved Carlos, but upon learning that he wanted to leave her (admittedly, the fact that he tried to kill her wasn't helping) she decided to eat him.
Arte and Pollo, The Servants (Kagamine Rin and Len)
"Bow down and worship our great Conchita!"
A pair of twin servants that are so twisted that they serve Conchita's bizarre appetite with delight.
Affably Evil: Pollo. He may be evil and crazy, but that doesn't mean he can't be nice to people.
Meaningful Name: Arte is named after Artemis, the Greek Goddess of hunting and Pollo is named after her twin brother, Apollo God of light. The names suit them, as Arte is fierce and mercilessly violent while Pollo is nice but has a dark side.
Obliviously Evil: As per usual with Hansel and Gretel reincarnations, they appear to be unaware of how bad Conchita's actions are, though Arte appears to be more malicious than Pollo.
Prince Incognito: Cotracted by AB-CIR to pass as a chef, infiltrate the Conchita Mansion and steal the glass.
Morality Chain: Conchita really loved him, and it's implied that he loved her back (they even had a baby). After learning that he wanted to kill her and himself and later that he wanted to leave, Conchita lost all sympathy for him and implicitly, what was left of her humanity went with it.
Perfectly Arranged Marriage: Subverted. He and Banica came to love each other after the engagement was off. Before that, Carlos was shocked with the way Conchita looked and ate (and was in fact the reason he broke the engagement).
Supreme Chef: Joseph is known as the best chef in the world. Subverted by Carlos, who's average at best, but doesn't have any problem impersonating him since Conchita's taste had already devolved into the grotesque.
Walking Spoiler: Due to his true identity and the reasons behind his death, which had enourmous weight on the story during the Gluttony era.
Platonic (Hatsune Miku)
A noble from Merigod who escaped from her life of luxury to be a free thief. Employed by AB-CIR to steal the vessels of Gluttony and Envy.
Anti-Magic: She isn't affected by the powers of the Demons of Sin, making her perfect to collect them for AB-CIR.
Code Name: "Platonic" is not her real name, just her code name as a thief. Her real name is unknown.
Lazy Bum: Averted, since she's very proactive, however, she was born with leftovers from the Demon of Sloth's power, which explains her resistance to demonic influence.
The Sin of Pride
See the Story of Evil
The Sin of Sloth
Margarita Blankenheim (Hatsune Miku)
"Now, go to sleep..."
A woman from Toragay, Elphegort, who commits the deadly Sin of Sloth. She's the daughter of the Felix family, her father a doctor, arranged for her to be married to her childhood friend Caspar Blankenheim, who turns out to be a Gold Digger. Unhappy to be in such condition she tries to escape by sending everyone in the town (and after there's no one left, herself) to a dream world by poisoning them. Her Sin Vessel is a clockwork doll that her friend made long time ago and was given to her as a gift.
Affably Evil: She's kind, helpful, generous and tolerant. Heck, she'd probably be a full on hero if she weren't so dang insane. And corrupted by Julia.
Big Bad Friend: She calls JuliaAbelard her friend, and may or may not knowing that Julia's manipulating her into becoming a sinner when Julia gives her the GIFT as an instrument of murder and the clockwork doll as her vessel.
Broken Bird: Being treated almost like a decorative doll her whole life did this to her.
Childhood Friend Romance: She and Caspar were actually childhood friends, but grew distant in their adulthood. Their marriage is an arranged one.
Deadly Doctor: She herself is not a doctor, but seems to gain her knowledge of medicines from watching her doctor father treating his patients. She's slipping her poison, unnoticed, successfully without anyone having any clue about what the hell is wrong with the Toragay citizens.
Famous and talented tailor of Enbizaka, she laments over her lover that rarely comes home and meeting many other woman before it was revealed that the man does not even know her. Her Sin Vessel is her tailoring scissors, dipped in a spring when she cleans it from blood.
Also known as "That lonely man"; a young judge who lost his wife and daughter in accident, and found the daughter replacement in a clockwork doll. Striving to collect the Sins so he could create the "Utopia" for him and his daughter, he deliberately commits the sin of Greed by accepting bribes and struggling over the other Sin Vessels with many oppositions. His Sin Vessel is the silver spoon that had been passed down in his family for generations.
Byronic Hero: Intelligent, passionate, philosophical and something of a Bishōnen, he has deliberately chosen to corrupt the very concept of justice to achieve his goals and save his daughter. That said, he's slightly more cheerful about it than most, and doesn't question or criticize the path he's taken.
Identical Stranger: One would assume to Gallerian, but it turns out that he's actually more closely related to Adam Moonlit.
Irony: He's the awakened vessel of Greed, but gave up everything he had to help someone else.
Meaningful Name: His role in keeping the Clockwork Doll and the seven-sin plot alive is small, but still instrumental, like a real clocktower gear. "Gear" also starts with the same letter as "Greed" and "Gallerian Marlon".
God: The "Big role" the Clockworker's Doll wants him to take, as The Master of The Heavenly Yard
Messianic Archetype: To the extreme. When put alongside Allen, the Jesus analogies just get ridiculous. From being born to a "virgin" to having to spend time in his personal hell only to be reborn as The Master of The Heavenly Yard.
A descendant of Duke Venomania. He has a curse on his body due to his bloodline, and as such sought to undo it with the Venom Sword. He is captured and almost executed by the Clockwork Doll, but the Waiter saves him and makes him work for her as a gardener. He is now the Venom Sword's replacement.
Butt Monkey: As most Gakupo characters (Samurai, the "chore-boy" mentioned in the Conchita PV). He is quite useful thanks to his "Purple Dream" ability, but everybody makes fun of him in the theater, and oficially he's only Waiter's servant.
Dreaming of Things to Come: He has an ability called the "Purple Dream", which gives him the ability to see the future in his dreams. The problem is that he's only ever 50% accurate which causes his authenticity to be doubted.
The Eeyore: He has never been shown smiling, and his commentary for the songs in the Evils Kingdom Booklet is full of pessimistic ideas and theories.
Token Human: Among a doll, a group of personified inanimate objects, a sorceress, something that might be a demon and a god. He's alright with this, though, apparently because doesn't see himself as human either.
MA the Lonely Magi (Megurine Luka)
The replacement for the Vessel of Envy. She is actually Elluka Clockworker in disguise.
Two Beings, One Body: It was strongly hinted in The Lunacy of Duke Venomania epilogue that she's actually a combination of Elluka Clockworker and her Arch-Nemesis Irina (who dissapeared after the battle on Marigold Plateau), since she identifies herself as the Clockworker's Doll "mother".
Master of the Hellish Yard (GUMI)
A dark and mysterious figure who guards the Hellish Yard and acts as a judge of the dead. Her role is currently unknown but MA thinks that she may be the awakened Vessel of Wrath.
The queen of the country of Lucifenia and the person who commits the sin of Pride/Vanity. She causes many bad things in her tyrannical rule, including imposing heavy taxes, ordering the execution of her captain of the guards after he smuggled food out of the country to help poor farmers during a famine, and executed the genocide of the people of Elphegort after getting jealous of one of the girls there.
Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She genuinely cares about her brother, even if she doesn't remember the fact that they're siblings. She is also friendly to a lucky few, most noticeably Chartette.
Lack of Empathy: She cared little for other people except those she knew personally.
Lonely at the Top: Her Freudian Excuse. She believes that showing her true self and crying will just make those around her consider her weak, but as a result feels terribly lonely and estranged from people, trying to feel the void by being a spoiled brat.
Princesses Rule: Invoked. Refused to be called queen until she came of age out of respect for her mother.
Royal Brat: A princess who was spoiled absolutely rotten.
Sibling Yin-Yang: Was very selfish, contrasting with her kind, selfless brother.
Seven Deadly Sins: Apart from Pride, she has just about all of them. She was slothful (she made Allen do everything for her), gluttonous (she loved sweets and tried to order the creation of an entire castle made of cake), greedy (she imposed heavy taxes on her citizens), lustful (for Prince Kyle), envious (toward Michaela) and short tempered (the Green Hunting).
Smug Snake: Fittingly enough, as the sinner of pride.
Allen Avadonia/Alexiel Lucifen D'Autriche (Kagamine Len)
"I will protect you, so just be somewhere, smiling."
Riliane's servant and twin brother, though she has long forgotten he's the latter. He is the most loyal of all of Riliane's servants, and was also touched by his sister's sin.
And I Must Scream: After his death, he's trapped within the Clockwork Doll for an unspecified amount of time, bound by chains representing Riliane's sins, and has to wait there until he's reborn as the Master of the Heavenly Yard.
Dirty Coward: Word of God says that since nobody knew of his Undying Loyalty to Riliane, the USE's history books remember him as a coward who was the first to abandon the princess while the revolution was in full swing. Lampshaded in Daughter of Evil.
The servants ran away as time was short
The Dragon: To Riliane, in the grand scheme of things.
Ahem...◊ (Allen is the one on the left) Although it's also subverted since Those who had met either Riliane or Allen before (Germaine, Kyle, Keel) notice that the "princess" in the cell is not the Daughter of Evil. Also, York (one of the revolutionaries) notes the princess they caught is "a little masculine/tomboyish"
Jerkass/Jerk with a Heart of Gold/Jerkass Woobie: He's painted as a selfless messiah who's kind to everyone in the songs, but in the novels his selflessness and kindness is mostly reserved for people he knows/cares about personally (Riliane, Michaela, Chartette and Germaine for example). Anyone else is either looked down on or ignored.
Rousseau Was Right: Young Allen was far more selfless than his teenage self, giving his "snack" to the Demon of Gluttony, while Riliane didn't. Also, as a spirit, he prevents Clarith from comitting Wrath and conforted Yukina, pulling her out of her Heroic BSOD while she was being attacked by Abyss I.R. Most of his Jerkass moments are for people who he thinks will hurt Riliane, or for people who get on his nerves.
"I’m proud of my position as king. One word from my mouth can either save my country or plunge it into Hell. It’s a heavy responsibility. Although I walk the path paved by my mother, in the end, she is still unsatisfied."
The king of Marlon and the only son of the Marlon royal family. He's Riliane's fiance but has no love for her, and instead falls in love with a peasant girl. His refusal to marry Riliane is the thing that pushes the Green Hunting to occur. After the massacre, he helps the people of Lucifen to overthrow their tyrannical princess.
Big Brother Instinct: Despite all she's put him through, Kyle still loves his sister very much and would defend her no matter what. After his dream about her dying, his first instinct is to run to the room she's being kept in to make sure she's alright. When he gets there, however, he finds her dead.
The Call Knows Where You Live: He doesn't want to be a king, and rather spend his time painting. But his mother presses him, makes critics boycott his works, burns all of his paintings, and has his art tutor that he loved assassinated, along with his half-siblings who could have potentially been rulers in his place. CURSE YOU PRIM MARLON!
Innocent Cohabitation: After everything's over and done with, he and Yukina find each other in Lucifenia and begin living together. It's stated they never marry, although it hasn't stopped fans from speculating.
King Incognito: He disguises himself when leading the revolution, using his penname (which is coincidentally the same as his ancestor who killed Venomania) and wearing a mask so no one knows that he has something to do with the revolution.
Love at First Sight: Like Allen, to Micheala. But unlike him, Kyle's affection for her is because the Sin of Lust from the Venom Sword clouds his mind
Puppet King / Unwitting Pawn: He might be the king, but everything concerning the kingdom is his mother's decision. When he goes to do something on his own (the Lucifenia Revolution), he unwittingly furthers his mother's plan to rule over the countries. He's not happy when realizes it.
Storming the Castle: Twice, once to Riliane's castle and once to the Hedgehog Clocktower to see just how far his mother has fallen.
Strong Family Resemblance: He has a half-brother named Arkatoir, who is indentical to him except that he is mentioned to have red hair just like his mother.
Thicker Than Water: He declares war on Riliane because Michaela was seemingly murdered in Riliane's order, but he just wants to confirm and question Prim's tyrannical rule with no other further action after calling her a demon. He also refuses to strike down Ney, even though she had killed their mother and almost kill him. This guy really needs to get his priority straight...
Michaela (Hatsune Miku)
"To me, you are a wonderful person."
A peasant girl from Elphegort. She's actually an Eldoh Forest spirit who witnessed the Original Sin occur, and is fascinated by humanity. Gained her body by copying the woman she had watched over and becomes human herself, her death (and everything surrounding it) pushes the Lucifenia Revolution to happen.
Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: Become the Thousand Years Tree after her death and the previous Eldoh Tree died. Since the Thousand Years Tree is a vessel of what people believe as God, well...
The Omniscient/Reality Warper: Evils Court's booklet notes that Michaela's power makes her capable of directly affecting Gallerian's Theater and she is not pleased at the effect the theater is having on the forest.
Declaration of Protection: How she feels about Clarith, even willing to give up her eternal life so that she can stay with her.
Disposable Woman: For an ordinary observer, she looks like this, as her death starts everything. But the details of Story of Evil are so blurred that no one actually sure about what exactly happened. Then, Yukina goes and unearths the secrets and suddenly her role becomes Unwitting Instigator of Doom.
Humanity Ensues: Willingly lets herself be turned into a human to help Clarith.
"Right on! Comrades! Let us start our revolution!"
Adoptive sister of Allen and adoptive daughter of Leonhart, she leads the revolution of Lucifenia mainly because Riliane makes Allen kill their father. After the revolution, she flees to Beelzenia and becomes a soldier like her ancestor. She is a descendant of Banica Conchita, which also makes her a distant descendant of Duke Venomania.
Action Girl: Takes up her father's sword during the revolution.
The Lad-ette: The only one who can stand the Blood Grave other than her father and an accomplished knight on her own.
Memetic Badass: In-universe. She is historically known as a hero who overthrew the Daughter of Evil single handedly, and when Irina was using her body as a vessel, people debated that Julia Abelard was a reincarnation of her or that she became immortal. FYI, the second one is half right.
You Killed My Father: Her main reason for starting the revolution is because Leonhart was killed for secretly smuggling food to Lucifenia people. When she realizes that the princess she captured was Allen, she pleads him to run, but he pulls this as a reason for her to not forgive him.
Clarith (Yowane Haku)
"S-Sorry! I really am sorry!"
The only white haired Elphegortian, and often bullied because of that. She's a lonely peasant girl that is a bystander of the Green Hunting and the Lucifenia Revolution. One of those whose bloodline got tainted by the "Venomania Incident", meaning that she is also one of his descendants.
Missed the Call: A positive version. All There in the Manual reveals the knife she planned to stab Riliane with was actually the Vessel of Wrath. Had she gone through with killing the Daughter of Evil with the knife she would have become the Wrath Sinner. Luckily for her, Allen's spirit snaps her out of the demon of wrath's control by making her realize it's not Michaela who's spurning her to kill.
Heroic BSOD: Hearing the truth about Mikina and how she was Forced Into Evil makes her lose hope and accept death at the hands of Abyss I.R. (who was possessing Mikina at the time).
Innocent Cohabitation: After everything's over and done with, she and Kyle find each other in Lucifenia and begin living together. It's stated they never marry, although it hasn't stopped fans from speculating.
The queen dowager of Marlon and mother of Kyle Marlon and Ney Futapie. The entire Story of Evil was manipulated by her so she could become the sole ruler of the continent. She's quite knowledgable about the Seven Deadly Sins.
Big Bad Friend: She and Anne (Riliane and Allen's mother) were friends when they were young. The friendship was destroyed over a false rumor that Prim had tried to poison Arth, although it seems like Anne at least tolerated Prim again later on.
Disproportionate Retribution: Anne, her best friend, married the man they both wanted (Prince Arth Lucifen), and after being accused of trying to poison Arth, she decided to make Anne's life miserable. She seduced Arth with the venom sword, then killed him with the Gula disease/Glass of Conchita. After Anne died, she decided to screw over her children with a revolution and seize control of Lucifenia, even though by that time, Arth and anne were already dead and Anne had tried to bring their kingdoms together through Riliane's engagement with Kyle. Needless to say, she goes a bit overboard for the sake of revenge.
Evil Matriarch: Her treatment of her children as tools to further her goals makes her fit this trope to a T.
Hoist by His Own Petard: Having Ney be so devoted to pleasing her did not end well when Prim refused to even acknowledge her existence while she was busy talking to Kyle.
God Save Us from the Queen!: Manipulative, petty and willing to make her country enter two wars in the span of 5 years. Kyle himself calls her a demon in Handbeat Clocktower.
Manipulative Bitch: Twiright Prank, Anne and Arth's deaths, Riliane's fall, the Marlon occupation in Lucifenia and Marlon's war with Beelzenia were all staged and planned by her (with some help from Abyss I.R.)
Motive Decay: Her original plan was just to make her former best friend Anne miserable. After she died, her plan suddenly became "take control of Lucifenia".
"About what I said... please make it confidential."
The thirteenth princess of the Marlon kingdom, even though she's working as one of Lucifenia Castle's maids and was adopted by Mariam Futapie. A capable assassin, and the one who spread chaos from inside the Lucifenia hierarchy. All for her beloved mother.
Ax-Crazy: Had one of the highest body counts in the series.
Death Equals Redemption: She believes she's beyond redemption in this life, and that in the next life, she will be a better person and friends with her half-brothers and half-sister. She dies shortly after.
Heel Face Door Slam: Ney realizes that she's done horrible things, but she also realizes that she can't make amends in her current life; even worse, the demon of Gluttony denies her the chance to be reborn freely, preventing Ney from being reborn with her siblings like she had hoped. Topping it off, around the time Ney is telling Kyle this in a dream, Abyss kills her as she sleeps.
Faux Affably Evil: Her personality while she was posing as a maid was meek and soft-spoken, although she really liked to gossip. Our first glimpse at her real personality is when she kills Michaela, where she is loud and sounds derranged and gleeful to have been able to please her mother's wishes.
Well Done Daughter Gal: She just wants her mother's approval. But Prim is just so difficult to please and when she finds out her mother wants nothing to do about her other than for being her personal assassin... let's just say that the history repeats.

Prim Marlon's younger brother. He plays a pivotal role in the events that lead to Riliane and Allen being separated.
Aristocrats Are Evil: He goes to disturbing lenghts to be the Prime Minister and Riliane's regent until she turns of age.
Hoist by His Own Petard: His demise was caused by the Demon of Gluttony taking his soul after he used it to fight Elluka.
Reverse Mole: was feeding the Resistance with inside information of Riliane's doings and plans.
Super Strength: Extremely strong, to the point that small tasks are almost impossible for her.
Why Did It Have To Be The Bewilderment Forest?: She is deathly afraid of "The Bewilderment Forest" due to getting kidnapped and held captive there when she was a child, and after Germaine and Allen saved her from it she refused to ever go back. She probably got over it, though, since Germaine's rebellion was stationed there.
Liliane Mouchet (Lily)
"Although I don’t know anything about your past or your ideas but in my opinion, you’re just playing dumb."
Former commander of the bastion army of the Lucifenian Retasan territory. She doesn't like being called Liliane because it sounds like "Riliane". Works as Yukina's bodyguard when she travels around the continent in the attempt to uncover the Story of Evil.
Asskicking Equals Authority: She was chosen as a commander of Retasan due to her strength and leadership skills. When she defects, the fortress falls pretty quickly.
Babies Ever After: In the epilogue is mentioned that she married and had two children.
Badass: She defended her fortress just by a handful of soldiers in her time as commander and when Ney's army of undeads took over the fortress between her time quiting her service, she charges the fortress alone and wins before Germaine's reinforcement arrives.
The Dreaded: The Langley Troops (That is, the revolutionaries who joined Beelzenia's army) had a battle with her once. When they meet each other again, all of the troops are scared of her even though she's alone.
You Killed My Father: Subversion. Germaine even asks her if she wants revenge on the Lucifinian resistance for killing her father, and she replies that she has no anger for them, as he died the way he wanted; in battle.
Gast Venom/ Zenon (Gakupo)
"You are the same as me... evil."
A Mercenary also known as the "Demon of Asmodean". He is a mighty free companion and leads a mercenary force named "Asmodean Company". Riliane hired him as a bodyguard. He considers himself to be as evil as the princess and her servant.
Undying Loyalty: To Arth, who managed to make her change sides in the Asmo-Beelzenian war when she was 9. Even long after his death, she still acts as the Head of Maids and protects his children out of loyalty to him.
Keel Freesis (Hiyama Kiyoteru)
"To seize the world's information is the secret to success."
A wealthy merchant who lives in Elphegort and controls its trading guild. He is an immigrant from the Marlon Kingdom and a friend of Kyle Marlon. Elluka entrusts him with the Venom Sword.
Benevolent Boss: To Clarith and Michaela; even though she did not initially trust the latter, she warmed up to her a lot by the time the Green Hunting occurred. However, Mikina had to tell Ney where Michaela was hidden.
Demonic Possession: When Abyss loses her control on Elluka's body, she turns her attention to Mikina and uses her to steal the vessels of sin from Elluka, kill Ney, and come very close to killing Yukina. Mikina is able to take back control at several points but is unable to completely break out of this.
Elopement/Shotgun Wedding: Mikina became pregnant around the same time that Keel, who her father did not approve of, was forced to flee Marlon for his life, so she ran away with him.
Forced Into Evil: After being tricked into making a contract with the demon of Greed, Mikina was told that it would target her family next if she didn't work with Prim and Abyss.
Dead Person Impersonation: Thanks to the Venom Sword's powers, her appearance changed to that of Sarah, allowing her lure Gast into a trap. Notably, Gast already knows Sarah is dead, so Yvette just calls herself her ghost, even when Gast notices how warm her body is and insists that she can't be a ghost. Yvette never shows herself to Gast after this, allowing him to continue believing she was Sarah to the end of his life.
Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: She was mistreated by her step-father her whole life. When he orders her to trick Gast (which would lead to his death), a person who shows her kindness, she decides to go against Shalgham and stab him with the vessel of wrath to protect Gast.
Ship Tease: She takes an interest in Gast, which is why she killed her stepfather (well, that and she was abused).
Other Characters in the Evillious Chronicles
Elluka Clockworker (Megurine Luka)
"My time is limitless anyway."
The protagonist (or closest thing to one) of the Chronicles. She's a crafty, immortal, Genre Savvy sorceress capable of powerful magic. She is granted the task of retrieving the Seven Deadly Sins by the Tree of Eldoh, though she only does so to stave off boredom. She gains the Sin Vessels through manipulations and operates under various assumed names (her favorite being MA the Lonely Magi). She had a fierce rivalry with her sister-in-law which resulted in the destruction of her country.
Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Quite relaxed about life and always teasing. Her first reaction to Queen Anne's death is to kill everyone who knows her and flee... and she tries to do the former with a toy knife.
"I don't mind as long as I am always kept entertained
My time is limitless anyway."
Sneered the sorceress...
"I have also decided. If Michaela wants to stay as a human, then I also don’t want to revert back into being a spirit."
Elluka's apprentice and another tree spirit, she and Michaela are close friends. When asked to choose a human body she chooses a body that resembles Gumina Glassred's. She acts as Elluka's partner and follows her at all times. She is strict and serious yet also very kind.
In Love with the Mark / Becoming the Mask: Again, possibly. She was given a mission to make an approach to the man who guards the Venom Sword by Julia so the sword could be retrieved, but as the year passes, she falls in love with the man for real.
Meganekko: Her eyesight is normal for a human, but she's used to a better one as a chipmunk/forest spirit. Elluka creates glasses for her to be able to see as she used to.
Really 700 Years Old: Looks in her late teens/early twenties, but is a 1000 year old forest spirit by the time of Story of Evil.
The Stoic: It's not really her fault. She just isn't used to emote with a human body.
Irina Clockworker (Nekomura Iroha)
Elluka's sister-in-law and the main antagonist through the chronicles.
All Witches Have Cats: She loves cats. Whatever body she is in, she's always seen alongside her red cat Familiar. The red cat is actually her true form, since she has no body of her own.
Ax-Crazy: There are four candidates to the seventh project Ma, including her. She wins by killing two of them and making it look like an accident/a suicide, and kills the third (her own sister-in-law) in front of her brother, who then crosses the Despair Event Horizon. She then takes her place as queen without a bit of remorse.
Big Bad: Of the chronicles (or at least a good six hundred years of them). A large portion of the horrible things that happen over the span of those 600 years were either directly or indirectly instigated by her.
Body Surf: To an even greater extent than Elluka. The "Madness of Duke Venomania" manga has her changing bodies constantly. Among the possessed are a blonde woman, Elluka, Hakua's sister Haru, Mikina Freesis, and most recently, Germaine.
The Corrupter: She orchestrates many of the Sins, and does it by tempting the sinners and making them believe the demonic powers of the vessels are the answer.
Deadpan Snarker: Constantly berates Venomania over his choice in women (often soldiers and people easy to trace) and his hipocrisy over killing.
Emergency Transformation: The explosion known as the Levianta Fire Disaster left her with severe injuries, including losing her limbs, and she had to transfer her soul into a stuffed red cat to survive.
Evil Mentor: Teaches Prim, Margarita, Ney and Venomania how to use the vessels of sin to corrupt them. She also taught Lemy how "Bad children need to be punished" (i.e. killed).
I Have Many Names: Aside from Irina, she's also been known as MA, I.R., AB-CIR, Abyss I.R., Julia Abelard and I. Santa through the chronicles.
The Man Behind the Man: During the six hundred years she was confirmed to be present in Evillious, she was behind the events of: Story of Evil, Toragay's destruction, the Serial Killer Lemy Abelard and the criminal organization Pere Noel, Duke Venomania's Deal with the Devil, and considering she was in possesion of Conchita's Glass during Story of Evil, it's not farfetched to think she was behind that too.
Meaningful Name: "Irini" means "peace". Also, the name "Abyss I.R." seems to come from "Abbyssianian", a breed of cat with a red coat.
Satellite Character: In a way, to Irina. Her only real connection to the Chronicles is that she has the same ailment as Irina and introduces it to the audience. and it's implied the injection she took at the end killed her, so she will probably never develop beyond that.
Self-Made Orphan: When her murderous other self takes control, she brutally murders her own father.
