!!The Novel
[[folder: Galatea "Gala" Brand]]

UsefulNotes/ScotlandYard agent stationed in Drax's rocket base, posing as his secretary.

* BrainyBrunette: Very good with figures and a competent secretary to Drax.
* DefrostingIceQueen: She starts off as cold and professional towards Bond, but warms up to him eventually and is friends with him by the end.

[[folder: Willy Krebs, "The Persuader"]]

Drax's right-hand man and enforcer.

* TheDragon: He's Drax's right-hand man
* KnifeNut: As part of being a TortureTechnician.
* TextualCelebrityResemblance: He is described as looking like a young Creator/PeterLorre.
* ThoseWackyNazis: Krebs served in Drax's Werwolf unit during World War II.
* TortureTechnician: He's called the Persuader for always getting an answer during interrogation.

[[folder: Sir Hugo Drax / Graf Hugo von der Drache]]

A Prussian officer that served in one of the legendary Werwolf units, which specialized on infiltration and sabotage during WWII. One mission left him in the middle of an exploding Allied base and he was taken to England, mistaken for an Liverpudlian soldier named Hugo Drax. After settling into his new identity, he cornered the market on a rare metal and became a multimillionaire. A hero to England and beloved in Liverpool for his charity work, Drax is actually using his finances and the Moonraker project for his true plan: Revenge on England.

* ConvenientlyUnverifiableCoverStory: Hugo Drax adopted the identity of one of the countless British servicemen missing in action in the aftermath of a large battle in WWII. The identity he assumes was that of an orphan with no close friends, who by sheer coincidence happened to have a name that was remarkably close to his real one (Graf Hugo von der Drache).
* DrivesLikeCrazy: Becomes apparent when Bond has to chase him on a road.
* EvilRedhead: He's described as being a redhead.
* FantasticRacism: He's naturally anti-Semitic, as seen in how he fondly remembers beating a Jewish banker to death after the war and bullying his partner, Meyer, during the poker game with Bond. He also goes on a huge rant against England to Bond and Gala when they've been captured.
-->I loathe and despise you all. You swine! Useless, idle, decadent, fools, hiding behind your bloody white cliffs while other people fight your battles. Too weak to defend your colonies, toadying to America with your hats in your hands. Stinking snobs who'll do anything for money. Hah!
* HoistByHisOwnPetard:
** Big time, [[spoiler:as the rocket he planned to destroy London with is reprogrammed to strike the area that his escorting submarine is going through]].
** This is how he ended up where he is in the first place. After sending his Werwolf unit to bomb an Allied base, he ended up getting strafed by a German plane (due to wearing a British uniform), and while unconscious he was found by British soldiers who, thinking he was one of their own, took him to the hospital wing of the very base his men were just about to bomb.
* MadEye: The surgery around his left eye was a disaster, as the missing skin make it seem larger in appearance and perpetually bloodshot.
* NaziNobleman: Was one of these prior to assuming his current identity.
* RedRightHand: Aside from the singled out ones, he also has unnaturally long thumbs and "ogre's teeth".
* SelfMadeMan: Managed to go from a discharged soldier with no possessions or social connections to a multi-millionaire in the space of 5 years after the end of the war (quite impressive, considering even Blofeld was "only" making 50,000 quid per year as head of SPECTRE prior to Operation Thunderball). Accomplished this by using the business knowledge from his secret NaziNobleman past, along with some seed money he got from secretly robbing and murdering a Jewish banker in London.
* ThoseWackyNazis: Drax is in fact a Nazi, who was part of the Werwolf unit.
* TwoFaced: Left side of his face burned during the war. Plastic surgery managed to fix it somewhat, but it still has some noticeable puckering.
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: His rages-to-riches story and generous philanthropy has earned him the acclaim of the British populace. Even Bond admires him before learning the truth about him.
* TheVonTropeFamily: His real name is Graf Hugo '''von''' der Drache.

!!The film

[[folder: Dr. Holly Goodhead]]
->Played by: '''Lois Chiles'''

A {{CIA}} agent who works undercover as a scientist in Drax Industries. She joins Bond and flies with him to Drax's space station.

* AcePilot: She knows how to pilot ''a space shuttle'' like it's no biggie.
* ActionGirl: Although she ends up getting captured by Drax in Brazil, she manages to hold her own in all of her other scenes.
* BrainyBrunette: She's a scientist and is a brunette.
* DistaffCounterpart: A second attempt at giving Roger Moore's Bond a real female alter-ego after [[Film/TheSpyWhoLovedMe Anya Amasova]].
* GirlOfTheWeek: The main Bond Girl of this film.
* HotScientist: The good doctor even manages to use her good looks to distract a {{mook|s}} while she and Bond are kidnapped in Brazil.
* MeaningfulName: [[DoubleEntendre No, not in that way]], but Goodhead is indeed very intelligent.
* TheMole: At Drax Industries.
* NotThatKindOfDoctor: She's a doctor in astrophysics.
* PunnyName: ''Holly Goodhead?'' Come on, just... ''come on''.
* TheSmartGuy: She constantly gives {{exposition}} about the details surrounding the steps of Drax's EvilPlan. Justified, as she was TheMole in his company.
* ZeroGSpot: She and Bond end up having sex in Zero-G space.

[[folder: Hugo Drax]]
[[caption-width-right:313: ''"Jaws, you obey me. EXPEL THEM!"'']]
->Played by: '''Creator/MichaelLonsdale'''

A billionaire aerospace magnate who intends to exterminate mankind via DeadlyGas so that he can restart human civilization in space. And in that sounds familiar to you, it's because it's basically a RecycledScript of ''Film/TheSpyWhoLovedMe''... [[RecycledInSpace recycled IN SPACE!]]

* BeardOfEvil: Has a solid goatee.
* BigBad: The main antagonist of the film.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: He owns Drax Industries, which constructs space shuttles.
* DiabolicalMastermind: His evil plan reeks on the ANaziByAnyOtherName flavor of TheSocialDarwinist trope, capped off with his intention of repopulate the world with only the human beings he chose as "superior beings."
* EqualOpportunityEvil: His new, "superior" human race includes a diverse sampling of every ethnic group on Earth.
* {{Expy}}: Of [[Film/TheSpyWhoLovedMe Karl Stromberg]]. [[RecycledInSpace IN SPACE!]] This is even more amusing when one takes into account that Stromberg was an expy of Blofeld and [[Film/TwentyThousandLeaguesUnderTheSea Captain]] [[Literature/TwentyThousandLeaguesUnderTheSea Nemo]].
* FauxAffablyEvil: For all of his talk of wanting Bond's death to be [[ItAmusedMe "amusing"]], he's probably the grimmiest villain of the Roger Moore's Bond era.
* {{Fiction 500}}: Best shown when Bond is flown to Drax's base in California and lands on a castle, where Drax's personal assistant Corinne tells him that Drax "ordered it to be brought from France" (it was an actual French castle in real life, but the shots were filmed on France, of course). When Bond jokes that Drax could've brought the Eiffel Tower, Corinne says that Drax ''actually did that'', but couldn't export it from France because they wouldn't issue him an export permit.
* ItAmusedMe: He wants Bond's death to amuse him.
* KingpinInHisGym: Sort of. At some point, he is seen practicing his favorite sport: quail hunting.
* OmnicidalManiac: Planned to use a nerve gas to kill all the people on Earth while Drax and the people he chose to rebuild civilization reside safely in a space station until it was safe to return.
* SoftSpokenSadist: He usually speaks in a CreepyMonotone. The only time [[VillainousBreakdown he loses his temper and raises his voice]] was when [[spoiler:Jaws refuses to follow his orders, joining Bond's side.]]
* SupervillainLair: A pyramid in the middle of the Amazonian forest and a SpaceStation.
* ThrownOutTheAirlock: [[spoiler:Bond does this to Drax after shooting him with a poison wrist-dart. Just take a look at the current page image.]]
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: As a respected businessman, Sir Frederick Gray can't believe that he's behind what Bond accused him of (in fairness to Gray, Drax managed to pull a ItWasHereISwear on Bond). M nonetheless pre-emptively sends Bond to investigate Drax further, on the guise of a "vacation" for Bond.
* WickedCultured: Drax is introduced playing a recital of Chopin's "Raindrop" Prelude in D-flat major (op. 28) on a grand piano (which he plays in the key of D).

[[folder: Chang]]
->Played by: '''Toshiro Suga'''

Drax's Chinese henchman. He is shortly killed off in Venice when Bond throws him out of a building, much like Sandor in the previous film.

* DisneyVillainDeath: Dies after he falls into and becomes impaled upon a piano.
* TheDragon: He's Drax's first one. He attempts to kill Bond twice, first in a centrifuge, then in a museum/clock tower. The second time sees him take a nose dive into a concert piano from the top of the building, prompting Drax to call Jaws in as a replacement.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: He uses a wooden kendo saber against Bond. Not the best way to kill him honestly.
* PornStache: Well, this movie is from the '70s, after all.
* TheQuietOne: He only gets one line in the film, telling Dr. Goodhead that she has a call from Drax.
* ScreamingWarrior: He screams some {{Kiai}} during his fight with Bond in Venice.

[[folder: Jaws]]
->Played by: '''Richard Kiel'''

Having survived the sharkpool he was thrown in as well as the destruction of the ''Atlantis'' in the [[Film/TheSpyWhoLovedMe previous film]], Jaws is hired by Drax as a replacement for Chang after he is disposed of by way of piano.

* BallsOfSteel: Bond [[GroinAttack knees Jaws in the groin]] while fighting him in the space station. There's a "clang" sound when he does so.
* BeastAndBeauty: [[spoiler:The Beast to Dolly's Beauty.]]
* TheBrute: He's Drax's second [[TheDragon Dragon]], after Chang. [[GeniusBruiser He's also clever at times]].
* CharacterDevelopment: Quite unexpected for a Bond villain. [[EnsembleDarkhorse The character proved to be very popular]] after the release of ''Film/TheSpyWhoLovedMe''. [[spoiler: That's why he never died, finally turned to the good side and even found love in ''Moonraker''.]]
* {{Determinator}}: He survives falling from a plane (he had a parachute, but the ripcord came off in his hand), crashing through a building inside a runaway cable car, ''and'' from an InevitableWaterfall.
* DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength: When he tries to pull the ripcord on his parachute... it comes off in his hand. Later on he's chasing Bond in a speedboat, realises he's heading for an InevitableWaterfall and tries to jerk the steering wheel to the side; it also comes off in his hand. Being MadeOfIron he survives both OhCrap moments.
* TheDragon: He's Drax's second one, after Chang.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: [[spoiler: Dolly in the movie, a nameless female scientist in the novelization. Listening to Drax's NewEraSpeech is what persuades him to HeelFaceTurn in both versions, but it's only explicitly because Dolly will have no place in Drax's new world in the movie -- in the novelization, Bond's thoughts indicate that it's ''Jaws'' who will have no place in Drax's world, due to being a "freakish mutate", and it's as likely the woman he rescues is just a scientist who appealed to Jaws when she realised he wasn't too dumb to realise not to get when the getting's good.]]
* GeniusBruiser: Like in the previous film, he sets up some ambushes.
* GentleGiant: [[spoiler: After his HeelFaceTurn.]]
* GiantMook: Probably the most prominent example in the ''Film/JamesBond'' franchise.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: After realizing that Dolly will have no place in Drax's new world of "superior beings", Jaws turns against Drax.]]
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: [[spoiler:He and Dolly.]]
* ImplacableMan: He's a little more emotional than is usual for this trope, his facial expressions show traces of OhCrap whenever he's about to get pummelled again, but he always survives and he doesn't stop coming.
* IneffectualSympatheticVillain
* LoveRedeems: [[spoiler:Finds love (and redemption) in the form of a blonde nerdy girl named Dolly.]]
* MadeOfIron: He survives falling from a plane, crashing through a building inside a runaway cable car, and falling from the Iguazu Falls... and he'd pick himself up, dust off and casually stroll away.
* MookCarryover: From the [[Film/TheSpyWhoLovedMe previous film]].
* MookFaceTurn: [[spoiler: Bond tricks Hugo Drax into [[EvilGloating talking about his plan]] to exterminate everybody who doesn't fit into his genetically perfect "master race" [[RightInFrontOfMe in front of Jaws]], who then sees his bespectacled, short, and somewhat plain looking girlfriend standing beside the supermodel-level women that make up the female half of Drax's group, making him turn against Drax.]]
* OnlyOneName: He's only called "Jaws" in both of his appereances.
* PsychoForHire: Jaws is evidently well known as this amongst criminals, as Drax is pleased to learn that Jaws is available to hire.
* TheVoiceless: [[spoiler: Until the climax.]]
-->[[spoiler: Well, here's to us!]]

[[folder: Dolly]]
->Played by: '''Blanche Ravalec'''

A blonde and nerdy young woman (probably a tourist) who helps Jaws to get out of the cable-car wreckage in Rio. [[spoiler: [[LoveAtFirstSight They instantly fall in love]] and she is allowed to follow him onto the space station. When Drax makes his NewWorldOrder speech, Jaws realises that Dolly is the sort of person who will not have a place in Drax's new world, and he immediately wants nothing more to do with Drax]].

* BeastAndBeauty: [[spoiler:The beauty to Jaws' beast.]] Although, she ''is'' rather plain compared to the series' usual fare.
* BuxomIsBetter: Despite HollywoodHomely being invoked for the rest of the film, her introductory scene shows that she has some rather nice [[Film/MontyPythonAndTheHolyGrail tracts of land]].
* EveryoneLovesBlondes: [[spoiler: Well, Jaws did, enough to help save the day]].
* GirlNextDoor: By all appereances, she's an ordinary, nerdy young woman.
* GirlishPigtails: She wears her hair in two quite long braids.
* HeroicBystander: Her first thought when seeing Jaws' cable-car crash is to rush over and try to help.
* HollywoodHomely: Downplayed, she's plain in comparison to the rest of the female cast (and most of it is composed by the supermodel-level women that make up the female half of Drax's group to repopulate the world), but still quite pretty. [[spoiler: This also seems to be invoked in Jaws' HeelFaceTurn scene.]]
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: [[spoiler:The Tiny Girl to Jaws' Huge Guy.]]
* LoveAtFirstSight: She has an archetypical scene of this with Jaws, musical note and all.
* LoveRedeems: She is the key element in [[spoiler:Jaws' HeelFaceTurn against Drax.]]
* {{Meganekko}}: Wears huge glasses. [[spoiler: Becomes more notorius when Jaws sees her standing beside the supermodel-level women of Drax's group and realizes she doesn't fit into his genetically perfect "master race."]]
* PintSizedPowerhouse: For all the difficulty it causes her, the wreckage she finds Jaws pinned under might as well have been made of balsa wood.
* RescueRomance: Gender Flipped. She [[spoiler: helps Jaws out of the wreckage of a cable-car when she first meets him. They fall in love with the first shared smile]].
* TheVoiceless: She's never heard speaking, though we see her whispering to Jaws [[spoiler:persuading him to help Bond and Holly undock their shuttle from the station]].

[[folder: Corinne Dufour]]
[[caption-width-right:200: ''"The Drax residence. Every stone brought from France. Cute, isn't it?"'']]
->Played by: '''Corinne Cléry'''

Drax's personal pilot and assistant.

* EverythingSoundsSexierInFrench: Her accent does certainly add to her charm.
* FedToTheBeast: [[spoiler:Drax orders his hunting dogs to attack her.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: She aids Bond into finding the blueprints of Drax's plan.
%%* PunnyName
* SexySecretary: She's Drax's personal assistant.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: [[spoiler:The audience gets to know little about her before her death.]]
* YouHaveFailedMe: [[spoiler:Drax has Dufour {{Fed to the Beast}}s for assisting Bond.]]
