Here are all the characters that make up lonelygirl15 and its sequel, LG15: the resistance.
The Teen Angst Adventure Group (TAAG)
- All of the Other Reindeer: Part of why she is home schooled is that other kids made fun of her for her mysterious religious beliefs.
- Back from the Dead: Revealed to be this as part of the show's revival announcement.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Downplayed. She's usually nice to everyone... unless you piss her off, in which case she starts wanting to tie people up and interrogate them, although that appears to be the extent of how physical she gets.
- Blessed with Suck: Trait-positive, extending her natural lifespan but making her a target for the Order.
- Brainy Brunette: Widely known for her intelligence, especially random factoids and the sciences.
- Break the Cutie: In a span of less than three months, loses her community, watches her parents get abducted, becomes homeless, her dad gets shot in front of her, and her best friend gets kidnapped by members of her old community (although she manages to rescue him). While she retains some of her initial silliness throughout all of this, she does get noticeably more serious overall, eventually to the point of being willing to sacrifice herself to the Order to protect her friends.
- Catchphrase: Proving Science Wrong!
- The Comically Serious: Frequently treats her silly stuffed animal skits with apparently total seriousness and deadpan delivery, although this appears to be deliberate. The crowning moment of this is "My First Kiss" where she delivers a completely serious warning to other girls about the "yawn technique" right after passionately making out with a teddy bear.
- Companion Cube: Her stuffed animals, most notably P. Monkey.
- The Cutie: She's nice to everybody (unless you betray her...), plays with stuffed animals, likes doing silly skits and silly faces, and makes an effort to help total strangers.
- Dead Man Writing: Her voicemail in the Season 1 finale, and the email Daniel receives early in Season 2.
- Face–Heel Turn: In the revival, she's become a spokesperson for the Order in videos to other Ceremony girls, after having apparently survived the Season 1 finale.
- Girls Love Stuffed Animals: Keeps a trio of them — P. Monkey, Owen, and Thor — around, even taking them on the run with her. She frequently acts out little skits with them, although they mostly disappear after she returns from Tachyon's camp.
- The Hero Dies: Made a Heroic Sacrifice in the season 1 finale. Until the revival revealed that she was still alive.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Gives herself up to the Order so that they won't keep putting her friends in danger.
- Jerkass Ball: "I Probably Shouldn't Post This...", where she decides to film her and Daniel having an argument.
- Nice Girl: Is nice to pretty much everybody, even the girl she kidnaps, although she does not extend politeness to anyone who betrays her. She doesn't hold grudges if you turn to the side of good, though.
- Not Brainwashed: The Season 1 finale reveals that she was faking her brainwashing and deliberately gave herself up to protect her friends.
- Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: In "Whatever Happened To lonelygirl15?":
- Bree: Nothing happened to me. Everything was fine. I went through with the Ceremony and it was an honor and a privilege. I'm living proof of that.
- Separated at Birth: Gina's sister.
- The Alcoholic: Partway through Season 1, he starts going out to drink a lot, and every single time he drinks, he gets totally smashed. Fortunately, he manages to get back on the wagon later in the season, although he suffers a brief relapse in Season 3.
- Back to School: Drops out of college in season one, returns in season two.
- Chick Magnet: Dates Bree, Alex, Sarah, and Mallory during the series, and appears to be with Emma in the revival.
- Clingy Jealous Guy: Identified as such by both Bree ("Time To Grow Up") and Sarah ("Dude Back Off"). He does hold on to his romantic feelings for Bree for a long time after being rejected, even reacting with horror when Sarah suggests in "No Trespassing" that Bree and Jonas make out all the time, and he gets jealous about both Sarah and Mallory during later seasons. A good example is when he gets jealous that Mallory flirted with Chris in "A Woman's Touch", even though she clearly didn't enjoy it and managed to get useful information from him.
- Delivery Guy Infiltration: Gets himself and Sarah into the Verdus Pharmaceuticals offices by pretending to be a singing clown, allowing them to eventually retrieve some important documents.
- Daniel: Nobody questions a clown.
- Distressed Dude: Gets kidnapped by the Order during Season 1, then rescued by Bree and Tachyon.
- Drowning My Sorrows: After staying dry for nearly a year, he briefly starts drinking again in Season 3 after Sarah temporarily leaves the TAAG.
- Heroic BSoD: In the Season 1 finale following Bree's death. He comes out of it after a few days, though.
- I Just Want to Be Normal: Expresses this during the Grand Finale, then acts on it at the end when he goes home and abandons Sarah on the beach.
- In-Series Nickname: Beast and Danielbeast, after the name of his channel.
- It's What I Do: Comments on his talent for breaking-and-entering with this in "Lying Bastards".
- Jerkass Ball:
- Early in Season 1, when he refuses to tell Bree what her dad asked him about, and then not only tells the entire world about it in a video, but calls Bree's summer camp "weird" when he'd led her to believe he was fine with it.
- In the Grand Finale, he refuses to forgive Sarah for betraying the group even though she only did it to protect her sister, to the point of wanting to leave her behind to be punished by the Order.
- Off the Wagon: There is a point where, insisting it won't mean anything, despite uncomfortable protests, he takes another beer. While it didn't come to much in the larger story, subsequent videos show that more followed that first, and he was sliding back for a bit there.
- Parental Neglect: His parents are so neglectful that when he comes home briefly after living on the run with Bree for over a month (during which time they thought he was camping), "they barely even [knew he] was gone". They don't even notice that he lost his car.
- Screams Like a Little Girl: In "Mission Beta", when Spencer stretches him further than he's comfortable with.
- 10-Minute Retirement: Early in Season 2, he declares he's going to stop blogging. That lasted nine days.
- The Chosen One: Invoked by Sarah in the Grand Finale when she calls him "the one"... but she never bothers to explain why.
- Directionless Driver: In Season 1, he frequently gets lost while driving.
- Distressed Dude: Kidnapped three times near the end of Season 3, including twice during the Grand Finale.
- Drowning My Sorrows: In "Beer Bath", he gets completely wasted after letting his sister get kidnapped for the second time.
- Friendless Background: Jonas doesn't seem to have had any friends prior to meeting Bree and Daniel, and states in "For The Ladies" that the people he used to hang out with stopped calling when he stopped throwing parties.
- Jonas: Weird coincidence.
- Heroic BSoD: Bree's death sends him into one for a couple weeks, ending only when he refuses the call in "I'm Done".
- Hot-Blooded: Gets emotional and impassioned about the various turns of events more easily than the rest of the cast and tends to make rash, reckless decisions because of it. This bites him in the ass a few times.
- Idiot Ball / Jerkass Ball: "DANGEROUS DESERT": Him and Sarah are biking across the desert when she has a blowout. They get into a fight, Jonas gets pissed at her, and he just rides off and leaves her stranded in the desert. Even if he did intend to come back after cooling down, he should've realized that she didn't know that and would just go back to the Hymn Of One camp they had been fleeing from.
- I Just Want to Be Normal: Expresses this sentiment to Taylor in "Hope He's Not Mad", saying he wishes he just had a normal family that did normal stuff.
- Lonely Rich Kid: Lives by himself in a big house, due to his parents going missing six years before the start of the show, and doesn't really have any friends. Arguably why he reached out to Bree - both were lonely.
- Mr. Fanservice: A muscular guy with a nice face who frequently appears shirtless with little provocation.
- Parental Abandonment: His parents went missing six years ago, forcing him to live on his own. Subverted when early season 2 videos show that his parents are in fact still alive, but "A Family Affair" reveals that they got Easy Amnesia and don't remember him at all, and are loving parents to their adoptive daughter Emma.
- Refusal of the Call: Declares in "I'm Done" that he's not going to fight the Order anymore, rejecting Bree's message and snapping him out of his Heroic BSoD. He decides to focus on finding his parents instead...
- The Call Knows Where You Live: ...unfortunately, when he does find his parents, he not only discovers that they've been indoctrinated into the Hymn of One, but that his new adoptive sister Emma is trait-positive, dragging him back into action against the Order.
- Abusive Parents: Her dad threatens to kill her to force Sarah to spy on the TAAG, then kidnaps Taylor when Sarah can't keep them from finding out about their dad's connection to the Order.
- Artifact Name: Her online handle "soccerstar" becomes this after season 1, as there is almost no further mention of her soccer playing after that point.
- Big Brother Instinct: Downplayed inversion: Despite making fun of her a lot before this, Taylor comes to Sarah's defense in "Like A Virgin" after Jonas sends them an angry email attacking and insulting Sarah.
- Commuting on a Bus: Returned to high school after season one, appeared sporadically during season two, then came back for a more significant role at the end of season three.
- Dumb Blonde: Inverted. She borders on being a Teen Genius with a talent for hacking and is likely the smartest member of the TAAG until Spencer shows up.
- Parental Sexuality Squick: Expresses disgust in "My Mom's A Freak!" and "Going Back to Cali" at her parents dating and having sex with people who are scarcely older her or her sister.
- Playful Hacker: A talented, friendly hacker who uses her skills to help the TAAG infiltrate a few places and get critical information to fight the Order.
- White Sheep: Downplayed. Taylor is the only member of her family at the start who is not focused on petty revenge against another one of her family members or working for the Order in secret.
- Wise Beyond Their Years: Despite being the youngest member of her family, she recognizes when the rest of them are behaving in a very immature, petty way.
- Abusive Parents: Her dad forced her to start spying on her friends early in season 2 by threatening to kill Taylor if she refused.
- Artifact Name: Her online handle "SkyIsEmpty" is, after season 1, the only thing left of her early Straw Nihilist tendencies.
- Big Brother Instinct: Downplayed: When the title character of "Gross Guy" tries to touch Taylor, Sarah immediately yells at him and kicks him out of their house.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Gets jealous of any girl who starts spending time with or getting attention from Daniel very easily. Downplayed because she never does anything violent or too crazy, but Mallory, Jennie, and Gina all draw her ire at various times, and she also clearly tries to get Daniel and Mallory broken up a couple of times.
- Deadpan Snarker: Very frequently makes sarcastic comments about the situation.
- Dumb Blonde: Subverted. While at first she's overshadowed by Taylor's exceptional abilities, she later repeatedly shows herself to be competent and manipulative. She also frequently plays up the "dumb blonde" stereotype to her advantage.
- Emo Teen: Initially identified as such, and reflected by her taste in music.
- Hollywood Homely: Her first outfit in Daniel's class project is a invocation of this, with nerd glasses, sweatpants, and a baggy, unattractive jacket.
- Idiot Ball: "All Wet", where she tries to take important papers out of Daniel's hand while the two of them are standing right over water, and inevitably the papers fall down and land right in the water, getting damaged.
- The Mole: Revealed to have been this since early season 2 in the season 3 episode "We're Screwed!"
- More than Mind Control: Her indoctrination into the Hymn Of One appears to be this, as she had been feeling unappreciated by the TAAG but did feel appreciated by the Hymn of One, allowing them to brainwash her. She later reveals she was faking it to get out of being forced to spy on her friends.
- Ms. Fanservice: An attractive blonde with large tits, great legs, and a habit of wearing clothes that show them off.
- Not Brainwashed: She faked being indoctrinated by the Hymn Of One so that she would have an excuse to stop spying on her friends for the Order.
- Really Gets Around: According to both Taylor and herself, Sarah has slept with a ton of guys by the time she makes her first appearance in the series. She seems to stick to Daniel after the two of them meet, but is shown to be back to her old ways in "Sluttiness Prevails", though she slows down again after a short time and only one of the guys she dates besides Daniel and Carl appears in any episode.
- Regretful Traitor: Was forced to start spying on the TAAG in Season 2 when her dad threatened to kill Taylor if she refused.
- Rummage Sale Reject: Her workout clothes in "Sweating Bullets": dark blue sneakers, baggy Hawaiian shorts, a camo tank top, and a leopard-print headband.
- Straw Nihilist: Starts out as a downplayed version of this, with the very bleak and morbid quotes she puts on her bedroom door along with occasionally bringing up death randomly, and, most prominently, not believing in love. Taylor claims it's just a phase brought on by their parents splitting up, and Sarah grows out of it by the end of the season after spending enough time with Daniel.
- The Tease: Clearly enjoys flirting with Daniel and does it frequently, particularly in Season 1 and 3. It may be more accurate to say she enjoys being flirtatious in general, given how she sometimes plays it up for the camera.
- Trademark Favorite Food: In Season 1, she's a big fan of donuts, to the point of having "I like donuts" as her Catchphrase briefly.
- Back to School: When she goes into hiding with her parents during Season 2, then again late in Season 3 when goes to school abroad.
- Blessed with Suck: Trait-positive, extending her natural lifespan but making her a target for the Order.
- Bloody Murder: Her blood is used to poison an Elder, via Dr. Hart injecting her with the serum shortly before the Ceremony.
- I Just Want to Be Normal: Quotes the trope name at the very end of "Decision Time", and eventually leaves to go back to school abroad in Season 3.
- Put on a Bus: Leaves to go to an overseas school near the end of Season 3.
- Suspiciously Similar Substitute: For Bree; a dark-haired trait-positive teenaged Nice Girl who has her parents forced into hiding, plays with P. Monkey, lives on the run with Jonas, and shoots silly vlogs. Character Development allows her to differentiate from Bree, however.
- Touch of Death: Is suspected to have one by Jonas after the events of "Shadow of Death", and LaRezisto encourages him to take her to their camp to help train her. Subverted; "My Fatal Mistake" reveals that LaRezisto was exploiting Jonas' grief and desire to take down the Order, and that whatever happened in "Shadow of Death", it was not trait-positive superpowers.
- Brainy Brunette: A brown-haired girl with a deep knowledge of history, anthropology, and medicine.
- The Load: Downplayed, as she's useless in action situations but strongly contributes to the TAAG's endeavors in other ways.
- Soapbox Sadie: Early in Season 3, had a tendency to make videos lecturing about social issues, though it was dropped after a time.
- Unwitting Pawn: Starts out as one, inadvertently helping the Hymn of One perform fatal genetic experiments on unborn babies, but she starts to realize something's wrong and has the TAAG come rescue her and Sarah from the Hymn of One camp.
- Blessed with Suck: Trait-positive, extending her natural lifespan but making her a target for the Order.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Pushes Jonas out of the line of fire of a sniper and gets shot instead in the final episode of "Prom".
- Nightmare Fuel Coloring Book: A Season 3 episode uncovered some disturbing drawings she had hidden that depicted parts of the facility she had been housed in, including the cribs of two other subjects who died.
- Separated at Birth: Bree's sister.
- Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Emma sees the Sugar side a lot more than the others do.
- Taking the Bullet: In the final Prom episode, it's shown that she shoved Jonas out of a sniper's line-of-sight and took the bullet for him.
- The Quiet One: The quietest member of the TAAG. In fact, it wasn't until her sixth episode after joining them that she said more than one word to them.
Margaret Ann "Maggie" Schaeffer (Patient #12, hymmofnone99)
Reed Barnes (ReedABook)
Allies
Gemma (gemmers19)
- Evil Brit: A British girl who tries to lure Bree into the Order's trap.
- Killed Off for Real: Apparently killed by Tachyon's sidekick Brother in "Gemma? [Part V]"
- The Mole: Pretends to being offering Bree friendly advice, but is really trying to get her captured by the Order.
Tachyon
A member of a resistance group that opposes OpAPHID.
- Catchphrase: "Tag, you're it"
- The Ghost: Never appears or speaks onscreen.
- Theme Music Powerup: "The Human Ransom": Right when it looks like Bree is about to really be captured by the Order in exchange for Daniel's release, we see a sped-up reversal of the video, then Tachyon's theme song kicks in and we get a Once More, with Clarity shot where she throws a flashbang into the elevator right before it closes, allowing Bree to escape, with Daniel.
Brother (10033, Sebastian, Aly's Brother)
- Faking the Dead: In the backstory, after being betrayed by Gemma and narrowly escaping an assassination attempt by Warpylol.
- Obfuscating Stupidity: Claims not to be able to find "the any key" on the computer, but is a capable sniper, helicopter pilot, and overall operative.
- The Voice: Provides a very convenient distraction for Bree and Jonas in "The Cowboy" by yelling at the title character.
Alexandra "Alex" Wharton
- Heel–Face Turn: Undergoes one during her stay in Mexico, when the Order asks her to act against Jonas.
- The Mole: Becomes this for the TAAG within the Order, using Bree's Hymn Of One ads to leak information to them.
- Put on a Bus: "Proceed With Caution" has her announce that she's going to be going into hiding, and that's the last we see of her in the series.
Spencer Gilman (LAlabrat)
- Eccentric Mentor: During the first three "Mission" videos. He makes Jonas, Daniel, and Taylor go through seemingly ridiculous exercises (kangaroo hopping, contorting around ropes blindfolded, and playing classic video games respectively) while mostly maintaining his geeky demeanor, but these all turn out to actually teach them important skills for their upcoming mission.
- Pac Man Fever: Is a fan of classic video games.
- Science Hero: Helps the TAAG create a serum to turn trait-positive girls trait-negative. Unfortunately, they are too late to save Bree, and it turns out that losing trait-positivity is fatal.
Mallory O'Neill
- Freudian Excuse: Uses some kind of excuse about her relationship with her dad in "I'll Do Anything" to try and explain why she cheated on Daniel with Professor Del Mundo.
- Teacher/Student Romance: A mutual one with Professor Del Mundo is revealed in "Hot For Teacher".
Claire
- Even Evil Has Standards: Believes that Emma should be mentally and spiritually prepared before going through with the Ceremony.
- Redemption Equals Death: Downplayed. She had just killed her Elder, but she was also about to unnecessarily shoot Emma before she got shot herself.
Dr. Calvin Hart
- Face–Heel Turn: Betrays Jonas by arranging for Emma to get kidnapped by the Order, but then it turns out he was planning to double-cross the Order all along in order to save both Gina and Emma.
- Go Out with a Smile: Has a smile on his face in the last shot we see of him, right before the Order's agents kill him offscreen.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Figures out a way to save both Gina and Emma and kill William Porter, at the cost of his own life.
- Morally Ambiguous Doctorate: Earlier in his career, at least. He ran the experiment at the behest of the Order to see if it would be possible to turn trait-negative girls trait-positive, which resulted in the deaths of all the girls. Except Gina, because she was the control.
The Order of Denderah
OpAphid
- Catchphrase: "And as such, you shall face our wrath", "Oh dear"
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Dropped out of the series after "Miss Me?", and her only connection to that video was her symbol at the beginning.
- Fun with Acronyms: Acknowledge their Position and Help Initiate a Dialogue / Analyze Protect Hinder Infiltrate Destroy
Lucy L.
- Faking the Dead: Apparently dies in "Handcuffed" as a result of Jonas' beating... until he goes back to dispose of her body and finds her gone.
- Karma Houdini: As the very last video of the series shows, she's alive and well despite all her wrongdoings.
- Sinister Shades: Helps brainwash, abduct, and murder innocent teenagers, all while never losing her sunglasses.
- Sunglasses at Night: Always wears her sunglasses (including during photos for some reason...). The only exception is "Handcuffed".
- The Voiceless: Never says a word in any of her appearances, save for the final "Prom" episode and "Handcuffed".
Rogue Elder (LaRezisto )
An Elder who can't wait for his turn to munch the phlebotinum to come around and decides to take matters into his own hands.
- Bodyguard Betrayal: His Shadow betrays and kills him.
- Character Death: Shot by Claire.
- Exact Words: "Show these people what I'm made of." Flesh and blood, apparently.
- Immortality Immorality: Like all Elders, relies on abducting and murdering teenagers to extend his own life.
- It's All About Me: To an even greater degree than the average Elder, as he believes he is more important than his fellows, giving him the right to do a Ceremony out of turn.
- Phlebotinum Muncher: Munches trait-positive blood.
- Too Dumb to Live: Mocks his armed bodyguard's religious beliefs while trying to get her to do something she finds morally questionable.
Lord Michael Byron Carruthers
The head of the Order, an English gentleman who gives each of his chosen girls a Creepy Doll as a gift before murdering them. A big admirer of Aleister Crowley.
- Aristocrats Are Evil / Evil Brit: A British Lord who brainwashes, abducts, and murders teenagers in a bid to live forever.
- Big Bad: Becomes the leader of the Order following William Porter's death in the Season 2 finale.
- Immortality Immorality: Like all Elders, murders trait-positive girls to extend his life.
- Karma Houdini: Alive and well, so far.
- Phlebotinum Muncher: Munches trait-positive blood.
RECURRING CHARACTERS
Nikki Bower (Nikki B)
A self-styled reporter who attempts to track TAAG while they're on the run. Her videos serve mostly as comic relief, and she only directly influences the plot on three occasions: when she identifies Jules as a potential Ceremony Girl, when she clobbers a Watcher with a fire extinguisher in the season one finale, and when she fills Sarah's usual role during her absence.
- Intrepid Reporter: Goes to many of the locations the members of the TAAG have visited in an attempt to find evidence of what's going on.
Carl Adams
- The Mole: Exploits Sarah's attraction to him to get a squad of Order agents to attack their hideout.
- What Does She See in Him?: Nobody in the cast can understand why Sarah is romantically interested in Carl.
Sonia
- Face–Heel Turn: A very late Season 3 episode reveals that she rejoined the Hymn Of One.
- Heel–Face Turn: Goes from being a Hymn Of One follower to an ally to the TAAG.
Julia "Jules" Anderson (Callmejules24)
- Accidental Misnaming: Julia states in her first vlog that she likes to be called Jules. The title of her first vlog is "Call Me Jules". The name of her YouTube account is "Callmejules". And yet, Nikki B. is the only character who ever actually calls her Jules; the members of TAAG always refer to her as "Julie" or "Julia".
- The Bait: Season 3 confirms that the Order used her to lure Bree to Zavalla, Texas, which is a hotbed of Order activity.
- Gratuitous Spanish: The Spanish she uses in her videos is not very good.
Virgil
One of the Watchers employed by the Order, he's assigned to track down Emma. Not for use in a Ceremony, but to prevent the rogue Elder and Claire from abducting her for their own unauthorized Ceremony.
- Heel–Face Turn: After being loyal to the Order while incidentally helping out the TAAG, he appears to be willing to help the TAAG rescue Emma from the Order in the Season 2 finale, but then he gets killed seconds into his appearance.
Elizabeth Avery
Bree's mother, a high-ranking member of the Order.
- Incurable Cough of Death: She has terminal cancer, giving her a chronic cough.
- Redemption Equals Death: In "Girl Grown Up", she tries to rescue Emma from her imminent capture, but gets gunned down by an Order operative instead.
The Whartons
Jonas's parents. They disappeared on a sailing trip when Jonas was thirteen. Presumed dead, they were actually only brainwashed by an evil cult. In their new identities, they adopted Emma.
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: They've totally forgotten about Jonas and the Resistance as a result of the accident.
- La Résistance: Before being brainwashed, they were leading members of the original Resistance to the Order.
Edward Salinas
- Bad Boss: Ties up and straps a bomb vest to Carl, one of his employees.
- Corrupt Politician: He's running for political office, with the backing of the Order and the goal of killing a member of the TAAG to be offered the rank of Elder.
- Driven to Suicide: As a result of his campaign being completely derailed by the TAAG.
- Never Suicide: Although Daniel suspects that the Order may have helped him out with his suicide.
Sarah and Taylor's Dad
The father of Sarah and Taylor. He's The Ghost for most of the show, having been kicked out by his wife after cheating on her. Late season 3 reveals that he's a long-time member of the Order, and he appears onscreen in the Grand Finale.- Abusive Parents: Forces Sarah to spy for the Order by threatening to kill Taylor, and both of his daughters kidnapped at different points because of Sarah's "failures".
- Karma Houdini: Suffers no major consequences from kidnapping and threatening his daughters and wife, or any of the other things he's done with the Order.
- No Name Given: No part of his name is given in the show.
- Parental Betrayal: When it turns out he's been with the Order the whole time.
Nadia Dalton
The Ceremony girl on the S.S. Hathor in the Season 3 finale.
- Blessed with Suck: Trait-positive, extending her natural lifespan but making her a target for the Order.
- We Hardly Knew Ye: Introduced and killed in the Grand Finale.
