Here's a list of characters starring in ''Anime/{{K}}''.

[[folder:Main Characters/[[spoiler:The Silver Clan]]]]

Tropes that apply to them as a whole:
* FireForgedFriends: Despite their initial differences, they become close friends after they have to cooperate and work together in the conflict of the clans and the murder mystery.
* GravityMaster: [[spoiler:The clansmen obtain the ability to manipulate gravity from their king.]]
* MayflyDecemberFriendship: [[spoiler:Shiro is the Immortal King. Despite not looking like it, he's over 80 years old and he will likely outlive both Kuroh and Neko.]]
* TrueCompanions: Once they bond, they become as close as a family. Shiro even refers to Kuroh and Neko as his family when he returns in Season 2.

!Yashiro "Shiro" Isana / [[spoiler:Adolf K. Weismann]]
->"''... Huh? I'm... a normal high school student...?''"
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/DaisukeNamikawa (Japanese), Creator/SamRiegel (English)

An OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent who suddenly finds himself getting chased by several factions, all thirsting for his blood. He later realizes that he's appeared in this strange video of him murdering someone while [[EvilGloating evilly proclaiming himself]] as the "Colorless King" (which had been kindly broadcast through the entire city), even though he doesn't remember doing such a thing.
* AmbiguouslyBi: He has blushed ''many'' times around Kuroh and even teasingly called him his wife, but he's also blushed at Neko when he saw her naked human body for the first time and the two share a few affectionate moments that are borderline romantic.
* AmnesiaDanger: [[spoiler:Remembering that his true identity was the Silver King all along might have helped him a lot in earlier episodes when he had no idea why people were out to kill or capture him. Kuroh, in particular, could have been convinced sooner of his innocence.]]
* AmnesiacHero: [[spoiler:He does not remember who he is or what his involvement in Tatara's murder may be. All his memories from the moment he came to school were fabricated with Neko's powers. He finally seems to have recovered his memories in Episode 11.]]
* AmnesiacsAreInnocent: [[spoiler:Even when he first arrived in the school without any memories, he was still friendly to Neko which caused her to warm up to him immediately.]]
* AnimalMotifs: The way Shiro holds his vivid pink parasol behind him may have been designed to evoke Peacock imagery. This is mostly notable because as a symbol, the peacock connotes royalty, refinement, spirituality and holiness, immortality and incorruptibility, and enlightenment and awakening. The peacock's defining nature is achieving integrity and beauty when one ''discovers and shows who they really are''. In western culture, the peacock also symbolizes the heavens and stars. The relevance is ridiculously self-explanatory in the context of the latter half of the show.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: [[spoiler:Shiro (as the First King) is definitely not a fighter. Nevertheless, he effortlessly halts the pitched battle between Reisi and Mikoto, both of whom are powerful Kings and fighters.]]
* BlatantLies: His attempts to provide an alibi are pretty believable...unless you talk to ''anyone who knows him''.
* ComboPlatterPowers: [[spoiler:As the First King, he displays immortality, control of gravity within his [[SphereofPower sanctum]], and the ability to alter other people's biological makeup. If he uses the latter power to synch other people's biology to his own, he can lend them similar influence over gravity. He also seems to have actual psychic capabilities, being able to easily outmaneuver and trap a {{Body Surf}}er who ''does'' use psychic powers [[note]]In this case, he doesn't seem to have telepathy and requires someone else to initiate the psychic conflict[[/note]].]]
* CompleteImmortality: [[spoiler:The Silver King possesses absolute immortality; unable to die, age, get sick, or be permanently wounded. He's absolutely self-sustained, and as his mind and soul are as immortal as his biological body, he's immune to mental/spiritual damage. Any injuries he suffers immediately heal, even if he is disintegrated, blown up, completely deleted, or even if he is completely destroyed to the sub-atomic level, he will still return to life. He is absolutely immune to all harm, nor can he die of any natural causes.]]
* ConsummateLiar: With the exception of the LineOfSightName scene in Episode 2, where he actually stuttered in the middle of a lie (to show the viewer that he is lying), he's a pretty damn good liar.
* CrushBlush: He comes across as quite blushy whenever Kuroh is involved.
* DynamicEntry: In season 2, he falls from the sky and crashes into the land [[BigDamnHeroes just in time to save Kuroh and Neko from Yukari]]. Shiro implies he did it on purpose.
* EatingLunchAlone: By choice rather than isolation in Episode 1. Shiro is actually quite popular with other students who willingly share some of their lunch with him, but Shiro isn't particularly close to any of them and is happy eating lunch alone [[SittingOnTheRoof on the school roof]] with only a cat for company.
* FakeMemories: [[spoiler:Revealed in Episode 6 that his memories about his past seem to be entirely fictitious.]] Shiro admits this himself when he says every time he tries to remember something, the details wouldn't match up. [[spoiler:Neko is later revealed to be the one who has been creating fake memories with her powers.]]
* FirstNameBasis: Shiro starts calling Kuroh by his first name by the end of Episode 3, as they seem to have made an alliance.
* TheGadfly: He likes to tease others, especially Kuroh. At one point, Shiro calls him his wife for making his lunch, for which Kuroh threats to cut off his tongue.
* GoOutWithASmile: [[spoiler:His last expression is a peaceful smile as he closes his eyes after Mikoto blasts a hole through his chest with his powers.]]
* GoThroughMe: When he stands in front of Neko as Kuroh is preparing to cut them both down in Episode 4. His simple act of doing so, however, is enough for Kuroh to hesitate and then back down.
* GratuitousGerman: [[spoiler:The moment he recalls his memories as Adolf K. Weissmann, he starts speaking in German for a while, and then continues to pepper his speech with German words in the following episodes.]]
* GravityMaster: [[spoiler:He exhibits this power himself, and can momentarily synchronize the biological wavelength of other people with his own, enabling them to access his sanctum's manipulation of gravity as well.]]
* GuileHero: Is able to think quick enough to invent a story about his [[InventedIndividual (non-existent) sick little sister]] on the fly to escape from Kuroh, as well as to set two people who were after his blood, who didn't trust each other, against each other with a careful choice of words. He is also very charismatic and popular, and in Episodes 7 and 8 it is clearly shown just how manipulative he can be with the situation when the need arises, to the extent of even tricking ''Munakata'' twice.
* HairContrastDuo: He's playful, innocent-looking and shrewd in contrast to the serious and uptight Kuroh. No wonder their hair colors contrast.
* HesJustHiding: In-universe (and likely out- as well). [[spoiler:After Shiro lets Mikoto kill him, which obliterates the entire island, Neko and Kuroh find his parasol but not his body. Neko clings to the belief that as a King, he might have been powerful enough to survive the blast. Kuroh, recalling that Shiro's power as the First King was ''explicitly'' immortality, comes to agree.]] ''Anime/KMissingKings'' gives us the answer to this question: [[spoiler:it's "Yes".]]
* TheHero
* HeroicAlbino: Has white hair and really pale skin and he's the hero of the story and overall a really nice guy.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:He pulls off one in order to let Mikoto destroy the Colorless King in his own body instead of Kukuri's.]]
* HoldingHands: Once with Kuroh during the first season, most likely for support as he [[spoiler: attempted to make contact with anyone who would know him.]] Much more often in supplementary official art.
* IAmWho: Certainly not who he thinks he is. Everyone believes him to be the next (technically the current) Colorless King. [[spoiler: He is in fact an amnesiac Adolf K. Weismann, the ''Silver'' King, in the body of a 17 year old high school student instead of his normal one, due to attempted possession by the spirit that appears to be the actual Colorless King.]]
* IconicItem: His pretty pink parasol.
* IdentityAmnesia: [[spoiler:He does not remember who he is or where he came from. His only memories are Neko's fabrications. However, he regains his identity in Episode 11 after getting stabbed by the Colorless King and finally remembers he is Adolf K. Weismann]].
* ILied: Smugly to Kuroh about his "[[InventedIndividual little sister]]", before making a hasty escape.
* InSeriesNickname: "Shiro".
* ItsRainingMen: He fell from a great height off an airborne zeppelin, [[spoiler:and still landed unharmed in a high school despite crashing right through the ceiling of the building.]]
** He does this again in K: Return of Kings!
* {{Keet}}: He is cheerful, playful and carefree.
* KindheartedCatLover: He eats lunch with a kitten and keeps her perched on his arm all the time, even when running errands outside campus.
* TheKirk: Shiro fits in the middle of the stoic Kuroh and the emotional Neko, balancing them out as the center of the trio.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: [[spoiler:He can't remember anything beyond waking up in the school after crashing through the roof, and then meeting Neko and Kukuri for the first time. However, after Neko uses her powers to help recover his memory further, he soon recalls clinging to the edge of an airship and then getting kicked off it by a silver-haired man. In Episode 11 though, he finally remembers everything.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[http://kirroro.tumblr.com/post/37635402489/k-ost-vol-2-track-20-shiro-1-one-of-isana Shiro #1]]" and "Shiro #2", both calm songs with similar tunes. They are also remixes of the K Main Theme. And then also "[[http://kirroro.tumblr.com/post/38199467299/k-ost-vol-1-track-10-shiro-3-even-though Shiro #3]]", which is noticeably darker than the first two.
* LineOfSightName: In a few seconds of just glancing around at his environment, Shiro spins out a yarn about having an ill younger sister who he needs to write a letter to, and quickly does it again when he needs to think up a name for her and spots a nearby flier. [[spoiler:In Episode 7, it's revealed that even his name "Yashiro Isana" came from a poster he saw on a wall of the school the very first night he arrived there.]]
* LossOfIdentity: [[spoiler:In Episode 6, when he realizes "Yashiro Isana" may never have actually existed. Confirmed in Episode 11 when it's revealed "Shiro" never existed--it was actually Adolf K. Weismann (with amnesia) all along.]]
* LoveableRogue
* LuminescentBlush: Blushed twice so far when getting close to Kuroh, and once when he was utterly embarrassed at seeing Neko appear naked.
* ManInWhite: In season 2, Shiro returns wearing a white suit, [[spoiler:showing his position as the Silver King]].
* MeaningfulName: The kanji for "Yashiro" itself means a firm or an office, which isn't really meaningful, but his nickname "Shiro" can be written as "white".
** The name 'Isana' comes from the Shinto deity Izanagi, who was credited with the creation of many other Shinto deities. [[spoiler: Shiro is the Silver King, whom Munakata referred to as the king of origins due to him being responsible for the birth of other kings.]]
* MistakenForMurderer: A guy who looks exactly like him is seen murdering a member of Homura. Shiro insists it's not him and that he knows nothing about it. [[spoiler:He's later proven right in Episode 11. The real killer is revealed to be the Colorless King who was controlling Shiro's body at the time.]]
* MysteriousPast: He claims he's just an ordinary person who came from a happy family and is living away from them to attend a high school, [[spoiler:but he soon finds out that the house he thought he lived in doesn't even exist.]]
* MysticalWhiteHair: Hand in hand with a mysterious, mystic nature and background.
* NervesOfSteel: Even while being chased by people out of his blood, he does not completely lose his cool and manages to smoothly lie his way out.
* NeverFoundTheBody: [[spoiler:Shiro lets Mikoto kill him, but there's no trace of him afterwards, only his parasol. Neko and Kuroh choose to believe that there was a chance for him to survive. TheMovie confirms he's still alive, but in hiding.]]
* NighInvulnerability: [[spoiler:As a result of his powers as the Silver King, which explicitly protect him against external influences of all kinds--this is the cause of both his immortality and his being completely fine after a number of extremely dangerous and/or lethal incidents with nary a scratch on him. Mikoto ''did'' manage to punch a hole through him at the end of the first season, with the implication that Mikoto made him '''explode'''---and yet he's ''completely fine'' in ''Anime/KMissingKings''. Daikoku's words imply that ''he regenerated FromASingleCell.'' If this isn't the definition of "immortal", we don't know what is.]]
* NiceGuy: Even while chased by a guy after his blood, Shiro stops to help a girl whose oranges got knocked over by Neko.
* NonActionGuy: Not a fighter. Every time people pursue him, he either runs away or uses some trick to escape. Kuroh is doing the fighting for their team.
* NonUniformUniform: He wears the prescribed Ashinaka High School uniform, but [[BowtiesAreCool ties his red tie into a ribbon instead]]. He also rolls up his pant legs just enough to free up his ankles.
* OlderThanHeLooks: [[spoiler:Mentally, if not physically, he's around eighty years old.]]
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: [[spoiler:"Yashiro Isana" is just a made up name for his amnesiac self. His real name is Adolf K. Weismann, but even after recovering his memory, he still prefers to be called by his alias.]]
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: A kid with no powers, fighting skills or understanding of the clans is swept up in their fight. [[SubvertedTrope He is not as ordinary as he seems.]] [[spoiler:Double subverted in Episode 11, which implies that the body he's wearing really did belong to an ordinary high school student who had the misfortune of getting [[GrandTheftMe body-jacked]] by first the Colorless King and then the Silver King.]]
* ParasolOfPrettiness: A rare male example. He always goes around with his rather feminine parasol.
* PinballProtagonist: Seems to be so at first, but it's soon subverted.
* PleaseKillMeIfItSatisfiesYou: He pulls this on Kuroh intentionally in Episode 2, so that the latter may feel bad and stop trying to kill him. It doesn't work. [[spoiler:In Episode 6 he again offers Kuroh the chance to kill him, for real this time, after realizing his entire life is a lie and he no longer knows if he committed the murder or not]].
* PowerFloats: [[spoiler:The Silver Sanctum he can manifest enables him and his clansmen to casually defy gravity.]]
* PowerGlows: [[spoiler:Shiro starts emitting a silvery glow whenever he uses his powers as the Silver King.]]
* PuppyDogEyes: He tried them on Kuroh. They didn't work.
* QuiveringEyes:
** The silly things that Shiro makes up when Kuroh is trying to kill him sound as if he doesn't care very much, but his shaking eyes clearly show that he's frightened.
** In episode 4, when [[spoiler:he opened the door of his closet to find a bloodied shirt from the night when Tatara was murdered.]]
* RetGone: [[spoiler:When HOMRA and SCEPTER 4 investigate Ashinaka High for clues on Shiro, they found no trace of his existence - Saruhiko searched the school records for him and nothing turned up, and Misaki questioned Shiro's friend Kukuri about him and she genuinely did not know who he was. Every aspect of his current identity was in fact made up and projected by Neko onto the rest of the students, which is why there are no records of a "Yashiro Isana" at all.]]
* SparklingStreamOfTears: Again, when he's escaping from the HOMRA thugs, his carefree behaviour makes him seem pretty chill about it all, but he's clearly scared as seen from this.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: It is unclear what he is, or if he possesses any powers, but the fact that he's hinted to be the Colourless King is a sign. [[spoiler:Later, he turns out to be the Silver King.]]
* SuperToughness: [[spoiler: He freefalls hundreds of feet onto concrete without any ill effects thanks to his immortality.]]
* TakingYouWithMe: [[spoiler:In the final episode he traps the Colorless's King soul inside his body and manages to reach Mikoto in time, who he then urgently asks to kill him before the Colorless King can free himself. Mikoto happily obliges by punching a hole right through Shiro's chest, thus killing them simultaneously by destroying the body they were in.]]
* TaremeEyes
* TearfulSmile: When he asks Kuroh if he wants to kill him now after they both find out [[spoiler:Shiro is not who he seems to be.]]
* TheTrickster: Tricks are the only ways he can escape all the people trying to capture or kill him, as he's not much of a fighter. He lies his way out well enough.
* UnfazedEveryman: Despite seeing people use magical powers while either attacking or helping him, Shiro just takes it all in stride.
** Subverted when it's revealed that [[spoiler:as the Silver King, he is anything but normal, though one might argue that he's very much an everyman before he regained his memories.]]
* TheWatson: He has no idea what is going on, and has to ask Kuroh some questions about the kings and clans to find out why there are people are after him.
* WorthyOpponent: To Hisui Nagare.

!Kuroh "Kuro" Yatogami
->''"In compliance with my late master's dying wish, I will slay the evil king!"''
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/DaisukeOno (Japanese), Creator/MatthewMercer (English)

A stoic young man, vassal of the former 7th King, Ichigen Miwa. His goal is to complete his master's dying wish and defeat the "evil" King. Believing Yashiro to be said King, he saves him from the members of HOMRA to kill him himself.
* AmbiguouslyBi: He blushes when he first sees Neko naked, and after he begins to trust Shiro the two share some borderline romantic moments. Despite their short time together he becomes [[UndyingLoyalty extremely loyal]] to Shiro and [[spoiler: dedicates himself to finding him after the first season.]]
* AnimalMotifs: The dog.
* {{Badass}}: Only second to the King when it comes to fighting ability, otherwise he [[CurbStompBattle curb stomps]] his way through life.
** BadassBaritone
** BadassInANiceSuit: Always wears an elegant suit and tie in battle.
** BadassLongcoat: He wears a cool black longcoat.
* BattleButler: For his former master.
* CainAndAbel: He is now enemies with his former senior and older brother figure Yukari Mishakuji.
* CassetteCraze: The voice recorder he carries around has been used to record practically everything philosophical his former master once said to him. It even gets lampshaded by Shiro when he first finds about it:
-->'''Shiro''': Creepy!
* CatchPhrase: Lampshaded by Shiro in the Drama CD.
-->'''Kuroh''': I am the vassal of the former seventh King, Ichigen Miwa - Kuroh Yatogami.
-->'''Shiro''': You know, you're saying it so many times... It's kind of sounding like your catchphrase.
* CombatTentacles: Kuroh's power appears to be greatly extendible "limbs" of telekinetic force, bearing a slight resemblance to a Diclonus's "vectors" from ''Manga/ElfenLied''.
* ComeWithMeIfYouWantToLive: Says this to Shiro when HOMRA is after him. Although he only saves Shiro from the HOMRA clansmen attacking him, so [[CavalryBetrayal he can kill Shiro himself]] afterward.
* TheComicallySerious
* CrazyPrepared: Learned how to fly a helicopter. [[spoiler:In his own manga, it's hinted that his master trained him to learn all sorts of things at a young age despite living in the mountains for most of his life.]]
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Lived in a happy family until his parents died when he was 5. Was handed over to some relatives' house, before they also died from a fire. Nobody else would take him after that, and he was taken in by some really distant relative who was an alcoholic and gambler, who abused Kuro and wouldn't even let him go to school. Eventually that person also disappeared somewhere, and Kuro realized he'd been finally abandoned. He left the house and wandered around until he almost died in the snowy mountains before Ichigen found him.
* DefrostingIceKing: Goes from cold and aloof swordsman trying to kill Shiro to his close and loyal friend [[spoiler:and clansman]].
* DistractedByTheSexy: Seeing Neko naked is enough for him to let his guard down.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Shiro blushes a lot around him, and even jokingly calls Kuroh his wife.
* FlashBackEcho: When Shiro moves in front of Neko as she is trying to defend him from Kuroh, Kuroh flashes back to his childhood when Ichigen Miwa protected him while he was trying to defend his master. It causes him to hesitate in his strike and give Shiro a second second chance.
* FullNameBasis: He calls Shiro by his full name at first, as a sign of his mistrust towards him. However, by the end of Episode 6, he's [[FirstNameBasis begun calling him Shiro]] instead.
* HairContrastDuo: Black to Shiro's white.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: He's stoic and seemingly cold, but he is actually really moved by Shiro's fake sob story about his imaginary little sister.
* HitmanWithAHeart: He's on the mission to kill the evil Colorless King, but he's not a heartless assassin, as seeing when he was willing to do Shiro a last favor for the sake of his "ill little sister" and later he was willing to make Shiro a nice last meal.
* HoldingHands: Once with Shiro in the first season, but much more often in supplementary official art.
* InSeriesNickname: "Kuro" (in katakana) by Shiro, and "Kurosuke" by Neko.
* IWillFindYou: From the end of the first season and throughout the movie his main goal is [[spoiler: finding Shiro.]]
* TheJinx: He was treated as this when he was young. His parents died in a car accident when he was 5, he himself spent over 2 weeks in the hospital for rehabilitation. He was eventually handed over to his aunt and uncle, whose house burnt down soon thereafter, leaving him alone again. All his other relatives would not take him in because they believe that he was a source of misfortune.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: He prefers katanas over other swords or firearms, as they symbolise his status and attitude as a samurai.
* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee: He worships his former master, complete with LuminescentBlush and acting like a fangirl.
* TheLancer: He's there to back up Shiro at all times, but contrasts heavily with him in personality and outlook.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[http://kirroro.tumblr.com/post/37471869636/k-ost-vol-2-track-01-yatogami-kuroh-kurohs Yatogami Kuroh]].
* LongHairedPrettyBoy
* LongingLook: Gives one to [[spoiler: the image of Shiro in Anna's marble]] at the end of the movie.
* MeaningfulName: The first kanji in his name means "dog", and the pronunciation "Kuro" alone means "black". This possibly contributes to his title as the Black Dog.
* MyMasterRightOrWrong: When we first meet him, Kuroh is very willing to kill Shiro for a murder he may or may not have done without hesitation just because of his previous master's request that he kill the next Colorless King if he turns out to be evil.
* NotSoStoic: He gushes madly about Ichigen Miwa, complete with BishieSparkle and LuminescentBlush.
** When [[spoiler: Shiro comes back]] in ''Return of Kings'', Kuroh tries (and fails) to hide the fact that he's about to cry.
* OldSchoolChivalry: Of the samurai code variety
* RealMenWearPink: He [[RealMenCook cooks, like, really well.]] In a pink apron. He also carries a sewing kit with him. At this point, Kuroh is basically Yashiro's {{Housewife}}.
* {{Samurai}}: Wields a katana, is incredibly loyal to his master and follows a code of honour where he judges people by their actions, rather than their personality or looks.
* SharpDressedMan: Always well-dressed despite the occasion.
* TheSpock: The most serious and level-headed member of the main trio.
* TheStoic: Calm, collected and composed at all times, especially in battle.
* StudentAndMasterTeam: Apparently with Ichigen in the past, as seen in a flashback.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: He looks distant and cold, but is actually very loyal and kind to those whom he deems worthy of his respect and trust, like Ichigen Miwa and Kukuri. Later he becomes a close and caring friend to Shiro and Neko.
* SupremeChef: He even carries around a [[CrazyPrepared briefcase with all of his culinary tools]].
* TallDarkAndHandsome
* TeamChef: He is the one who cooks for his eventual friends Shiro and Neko.
* TsurimeEyes
* UndyingLoyalty: His loyalty to Ichigen Miwa knows no bounds. [[spoiler:Also to Shiro/Adolf, after becoming his clansman.]]
* VitriolicBestBuds: He forms this relationship with Neko.
* WalkingTheEarth: The Stray Dog Story manga pretty much have him doing this in his search for the new Colorless King.
* WhenHeSmiles
* WillfullyWeak: Oddly, he does this in his battle with Reisi since he only tries [[FightsLikeANormal attacking the king like a normal fighter]], which naturally doesn't end well for him.
* TheWorfEffect: After beating Misaki twice without breaking a sweat, he gets totally owned by Reisi in episode 7 and Mikoto casually throws him aside in episode 11 without a glance, and easily shrugs off all his attacks. This is justified considering that they are Kings, episode 12 prove this as he proceed to curbstomp many Homra and SCEPTER 4 fighters.
** Reisi and Mikoto's fights are interesting cases, as Kuroh is aware that they could wipe him off the face of the earth and is clearly afraid of them for that. As a result, he strikes a balance between fighting too weakly to provoke them, but just well enough to warrant getting his ass kicked and thereby serve as a delay. Hence the reason he doesn't draw his sword.
* WouldHitAGirl:
** He was prepared to run through Neko for protecting Shiro, and fights against Seri without holding back.
** In episode 11, he also doesn't hesitate to pin down [[spoiler:a possessed Kukuri after she attempted to stab Shiro.]]

!Neko / [[spoiler:Miyabi Ameno]]
->''"Neko is Shiro's cat and Shiro is Neko's Shiro!"''
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MikakoKomatsu (Japanese), Creator/StephanieSheh (English)

A mysterious girl who appears before Shiro one day, claiming to have transformed from his cat.
* ActionGirl: In the movie, she manages to fight off several guards from the green clan by herself.
* {{Animorphism}}: She has a cat form and a human form. While she retains her cat mannerisms in human form, she doesn't have cat ears or a tail.
* BadassAdorable
* BarbieDollAnatomy: Neko walks around buck-naked, yet you won't be seeing any more than you would when looking at a barbie doll.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: The reason behind her devotion to Shiro.
* BigEater: Gulps down Kuroh's cooking as if it's nothing.
* CatSmile: Of course.
* TheChick: Her quirkiness helps reconcile Kuroh's and Shiro's personalities.
* CuteKitten: Looks like a pink fluffy kitten in her cat form, only with BlankWhiteEyes.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler:Neko is a survivor of the Kagutsu Crater. In her childhood, she was looked after by her mother and father afterwards, and she often used her abilities to have fun. Later on, members of the Gold Clan approached her home, and explained to Neko that her 'parents' in fact lost their only son after the crater, and that, unknowingly, Neko used her abilities to manipulate the couple's memories into thinking she was their daughter. Devastated, Neko lifted the illusion, only to be called a 'monster' by the couple. While alone, Neko remembered a book her 'father' read to her, called "Literature/IAmACat". Thus, Neko remembered how the cat in the book lives independently and without depending on others, hence decided to live as a cat named Neko. Afterwards, she lived as a stray cat on the campus of Ashinaka High School, frequently stealing or hiding from the occupants or robots. She didn't have anyone who was nice to her until she met Shiro.]]
* DoesNotLikeSpam: She doesn't like vegetables, being a cat and all.
* ADogNamedDog: Neko is Japanese for "cat."
* EmpathyPet: As a cat to Shiro, she can understand when he's not feeling well.
* FunSize: Her cat form is incredibly small and cuter as a result.
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: Source of many of these.
* GenkiGirl: Extremely playful and energetic, even when someone is after Shiro's life!
* GodivaHair: She has no clothing when she switches from her cat form to human form. Her long hair covers the naughty bits.
* GoThroughMe: PlayedForLaughs. When Kuroh prepares to cut down Shiro in his room, Neko jumps in front of Shiro to protect him. Seeing as how she's ''naked'', Kuroh reacts to the sight by blushing and then turning his face away in embarrassment, affording Shiro an easy getaway.
* HairColorDissonance: Neko either has really light pink hair, pink hair with white highlights, or white hair with pink shading. It could even be seen as pale ''lavender''. It is as light in color as Shiro's white-with-grey-shading hair (which is really impressive considering it's white), but it's often interpreted in fan-art and cosplay and even some promotional artwork as bright cotton-candy pink (compare her portrait in this character page to the image on the main page). Of course, it doesn't help one bit that the color seemingly changes from scene to scene depending on the lighting.
* IdiotHero: She nearly blows her, Shiro, and Kuroh's cover big time because she was bored. And she did so by yanking around the steering controls for the helicopter they were in.
* InexplicablyAwesome: Where she got her (''very'' unique) powers is left even more mysterious than the rest of the powers in the series, which at least have a consistent shared origin. There are only three other characters who are Strains. Two of them are not in the actual show, and the other has less extravagant powers.
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: Since she's a cat-turned-human, she doesn't like (or possess) clothes. Yashiro spends much of Episode 2 trying to [[PleasePutSomeClothesOn convince her to at least wear his jacket.]]
* InvisibleToNormals: Neko can run around naked in her human form without anyone noticing, and when she bumps into someone they're not sure what happened. It's part of her power to manipulate people's senses.
* IWillFindYou: With Kuroh, her main goal from the end of the first season and throughout the movie is to [[spoiler: find Shiro.]]
* JapanesePronouns: Uses 'wagahai'. Clearly a ShoutOut to ''Literature/IAmACat (Wagahai wa Neko de aru)'', to the point of using that exact line to introduce herself.
** This ShoutOut is significant in that the story was part of the reason why she chose to live like a cat.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[http://kirroro.tumblr.com/post/35766694947/k-ost-vol-1-track-06-kitten-nekos-theme Kitten]]", an upbeat and playful tune.
* MarkOfTheSupernatural: She has a green left eye and blue right eye in her human form, which makes her look far from normal. She's not, of course, and is quickly identified as a [[RandomlyGifted Strain]], an individual with supernatural powers that were not given by a [[SuperEmpowering King]]. Her specialty is creating illusions and [[spoiler:modifying the memories of the people around her with her presence]].
* MasterOfIllusion: Can easily mess with the five senses of her victims, thus making it seem as if she could create illusions.
* TheMcCoy: The most emotional and impulsive member of the main trio.
* MemoryWipingCrew: [[spoiler:Revealed to be the one responsible for altering the memories of the people around her, including Shiro and the students at the high school, making them all believe that people they met for the first time were longtime friends. * MsFanservice: The time she spends without clothing includes even the ''ending theme.''
* NakedFirstImpression: Suddenly turns into a human on Shiro's bed. Naturally flustered, he offers his jacket.
* NakedPeopleAreFunny: Both Shiro and Kuroh's awkward reactions to her nudity highlight this.
* NakedOnArrival: Her human form's first appearance has her naked. Justified since she's a cat so she usually doesn't wear any clothes.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: "Neko" is only the name she decided to use after she decided to live as a cat. She doesn't even remember her original name. [[spoiler:In the second season, it's revealed her real name is Miyabi Ameno.]]
* OnlyOneName: She used to have a proper name back when she lived as a girl, but has since abandoned it after deciding to live as a cat (Neko).
* PluckyComicRelief: Provides most of the upbeat comedy, as she's the only one consistently giddy and happy-ish.
* RandomlyGifted: She is a Strain, an individual with supernatural powers that were not given by a King.
* RapunzelHair: Knee-length hair.
* RoseHairedSweetie: Her hair is pink ([[HairColorDissonance at least rose-colored]]) and she's a very energetic and playful cutie.
* SharpDressedMan: When rewinding Shiro's memories, she wears an old-fashioned brown director's suit, complete with giant golf cap and baggy coat. Very 20s.

Also known as the Red Clan, HOMRA is a gang where bonds run thicker than blood. All the members have the [[PlayingWithFire ability to control fire]]. Led by Mikoto Suoh, the Red King, their headquarters are located in a bar owned by Izumo Kusanagi.

Below are tropes that apply to HOMRA as a whole:
* AcheyScars: All the clansmen's tattoos glow an angry red and start to hurt when [[spoiler:Mikoto is about to die]].
* BadassCrew: They like fighting, and are incredibly good at it as a team.
* BandOfBrothers: The clansmen share bonds that run deeper than blood, and killing one of them is a surefire way to provoke an [[ItsPersonal extremely violent response]]. Additionally. it's assumed (though not stated) that only men have joined HOMRA, except for Anna who doesn't even possess fire powers like the others.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[http://kirroro.tumblr.com/post/36138531438/k-ost-vol-1-track-03-ikari-homras-theme [=IKari=]]]".
* MeaningfulName: "HOMRA" seems like a pretty random name, until you realize that "Homura" in Japanese means "flame".
* NeighbourhoodFriendlyGangsters: They are extremely loyal to their members, and killing one of their members is mentioned to be the best way to get on their bad side. They only seem to beat up [[AssholeVictim people who deserve it.]]
* PlayingWithFire: Fire powers are part of the package. Being initiated in the clan requires passing a test where Mikoto's flame does not burn you.
* RedOniBlueOni: HOMRA is disorganised, fiery and bonds mean everything to it. In contrast, [=SCEPTER4=] is disciplined, everyone wears the same uniform, and the relationships within the clan seem to be professional instead of friendly.
* RebelRelaxation: Homura as a whole gives off a rebel, street atmosphere.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: When they use their powers.
* RevengeBeforeReason: None of them care about the circumstances behind Totsuka's murder or how much damage they do in the process of killing his presumptive murderer. Or, for that matter, that they're attacking another king.
* ReligiousAndMythologicalThemeNaming: There is a Shinto theme going with the members in their last names:
** Izumo Kusanagi is named after the sword of {{Kusanagi}}, one of Japan's three imperial regalia.
** Tatara Totsuka is named after the Totsuka blade, Susanoo's sacred sword.
** Misaki Yata is named after the Mirror of Yata, the third of Japan's imperial regalia.
** Anna Kushina is named after Kushinada-hime, the princess from the story of Orochi.
** Mikoto Suoh is named after a title for the gods.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: "HOMRA", "Homura" or even "Howling Flame"?

!Mikoto Suoh
->''"Burn 'em."''
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KenjiroTsuda (Japanese), Creator/KeithSilverstein (English)

The Third King, also known as the Red King. A stoic man of few words, he is the leader of HOMRA. Mikoto is captured by [=SCEPTER4=] in the beginning of the series.
* AnimalMotifs: The lion. Very apathetic, always sleeping, but incredibly powerful and naturally charismatic. When he's around, it's obvious who's in charge. His hair even looks sort of like a lion's mane. When fighting an enemy who tries invading his mind in Episode 9, Mikoto is represented by a lion made of flames that easily repels the enemy.
* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: Red hair, golden eyes, fire user...
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: Comes with being a King. He is the most powerful fire user and can wipe SCEPTER 4--sans their King--with little effort.
* BadassBoast: In an episode preview, probably the source of HOMRA's motto.
--> Mikoto: "I won't leave a trace. Neither blood nor bone nor ash will remain."
* BadDreams: According to the prequel manga, he suffers from recurrent nightmares.
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: A male/male version with Tatara. This characterized his relationship with Tatara who was the only one able to reassure him about his powers and let him feel relaxed whenever he was feeling stressed out.
* BulletDodgesYou: It's shown in the manga that bullets can't even touch him thanks to his powers being able to block them.
* BurningWithAnger: Literally in Episode 6, when he remembers what Tatara's murderer said in the video clip after shooting Tatara.
* DeathSeeker: [[spoiler:Relentlessly pursues Tatara's killer despite the increasing deterioration of his Sword of Damocles and refuses to back down peacefully from his attack on the school in order to force Reisi to kill him. In the final episode, after he successfully completes his revenge by ending the Colorless King's life with his own hands, he simply opens his arms out and embraces death at either Reisi's hands or his own falling Sword of Damocles.]]
* DiedInYourArmsTonight: [[spoiler:After Reisi runs through Mikoto with his sword, Mikoto slowly leans against him and hugs him briefly, while saying something to him, before slumping to the ground if Reisi didn't catch him.]]
* ElementalHair: He has red hair, and he uses fire.
* {{Expy}}: Of Spitfire, from ''Manga/AirGear''. They both have red slicked-back hair, control fire and are kings. They're even voiced by the same [[Creator/KenjiroTsuda voice actor]].
* FieryRedhead: Downplayed. While he has an outwardly taciturn and cool personality, he's also said to possess quite a fiery temper and has a tendency towards violence.
* FoeRomanceSubtext: Has tons of it with Reisi starting with their suggestive, almost flirtatious conversation in prison, which is later followed up by Reisi leaning down so close to Mikoto at one point that their faces are only inches apart.
* FriendlyEnemy: To Reisi.
* AGoodWayToDie: [[spoiler:After avenging Tatara, he smiles peacefully and spreads his arms wide open as he waits for his death at either Reisi's hands or from his own Sword of Damocles as it comes crashing down above his head.]]
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: [[spoiler:By Reisi's sword. See KilledOffForReal below.]]
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:He was [[MercyKill Mercy Killed]] by Munakata so that his sword of Damocles wouldn't fall and cause another disaster like the Kagutsu Crater.]]
* {{Mangst}}: Is implied to be suffering heavily from this after Tatara's death, but since he doesn't emote openly he only has troubled dreams about it instead. The fact that his powers are also going out of control adds more to his burden.
* PapaWolf: He is ''very'' protective of his gang members and treats them as if they were family members. Hurt one of the HOMRA members, and he ''will'' hunt you down. [[spoiler: He shows a bit of his PapaWolf side in episode 9 when the Colorless King calls him up and provokes him by threatening the lives of the HOMRA members and even threatening to [[WouldHurtAChild rape Anna]]]].
* PersonOfMassDestruction: It's mentioned that, when he's serious, he's on the level of a natural disaster. [[spoiler:In the last episode he nearly destroys his surroundings after his Sword of Damocles begins to fall.]]
* PlayingWithFire: Obviously. In a break from the usual ColorCodedElements, his fire is always bright violet or pink.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Or at least turns one "traitor." Supplementary material imply that he cares about Saruhiko's well-being as much as he does any of his loyal followers in HOMRA, but because he has a hard time expressing it and Saruhiko's unable to shake his fear of him and his power, it never quite gets through.
* PowerDegeneration: His Weismann level is reaching its limit, and in Episode 6 his hand is shown to be charred black by his own powers, demonstrating his loss of control. His Sword of Damocles is also in a state of decay. [[spoiler:By the season finale, he finally exceeds his Weismann level after killing another King, and his Sword of Damocles nearly falls on him (which would have triggered a SuperPowerMeltdown). This is narrowly averted by Reisi's MercyKill.]]
* PsychicBlockDefense: [[spoiler:Episode 9 implies he uses this to defend his mind from the intrusion of Tatara's killer and drive him out again.]]
* ReluctantRuler: He doesn't seem too fond of being a king as shown in Episode 6 when he wonders aloud why he had to become one.
* RevengeBeforeReason: He wants to get revenge for Tatara more than anything else and is willing to endanger himself, his clansmen, and even the entire city to seek out the murderer.
* SelfRestraint: Mikoto willingly surrenders to SCEPTER 4 at the start of the series so he could be closely watched by another king who would be the only one able to stop him in case he undergoes a SuperPowerMeltdown. As a result, he stays imprisoned for eight episodes straight (nearly half the season). However, by Episode 9, he breaks out of the prison in seconds as soon he finds out where Tatara's killer has been hiding all along.
* SmokingIsCool: Like Izumo, he smokes a lot.
* SorryThatImDying: [[spoiler:"I'm sorry...Anna. I won't be able to show that lovely red anymore."]]
* TheStoic: You'd expect fiery powers to be accompanied by a fiery personality, but unless he gets angry, he's very laid-back and doesn't talk a lot.
* SuicideByCop: [[spoiler:He forces Reisi to kill him before his Sword of Damocles can fall completely to the ground and wipe out everyone around him.]]
* SuperEmpowering: As shown in the prequel manga, he can induct someone into his clan and bestow his powers onto them if they pass a dangerous test (wherein they must shake his hand while it's on fire) to prove their worthiness.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: As a king, his eye color seems to indicate both his powerful status and supernatural powers. However, the feline quality of his gold eyes is also evoked by Izumo who comments that Mikoto probably would be happier if he'd been a lion living in a savanna.
* TogetherInDeath: [[spoiler:His death can be seen as a way to reunite with Tatara since Mikoto stayed quite depressed for most of the series after Tatara was murdered, and finally seemed to be at peace when he avenged him upon which he willingly accepted his own death.]]
* TragicBromance: Was extremely close to Tatara and his death had a tremendous psychological impact on Mikoto, since it continues to affect his behavior for the entire anime [[spoiler:up until his own death]].
* TragicKeepsake: His earring used to belong to [[PosthumousCharacter Totsuka]].
* {{Tsundere}}: Shows shades of this, especially around Tatara and Anna. Less in a "baka I didn't do that for you" sort of way, but more in the "I'm calling you dumb and telling you to take care of yourself but acting like I don't give a crap" way.
* WakeUpFighting: After Eric tries to assassinate him in the manga. The moment he touches him, Mikoto instantly awakens and nearly roasts him alive with his powers if he didn't happen to miss and burn a hole in the nearest wall instead.
* WorthyOpponent: To Reisi. As shown in the conversation between him and Reisi in one of the radio dramas, they may hate each other but still respect each other as Kings and understands each others' loneliness as Kings.
* WreathedInFlames: Whenever he activates his powers, although it resembles a BattleAura more than actual flames.

* DarkAndTroubledPast: As Kusanagi, Totsuka and Fushimi come to realize in SIDE:RED, [[spoiler:the car crash of Anna's parents was purposefully arranged by a powerful member of the Gold Clan, since they wouldn't hand her back to the Strain research (and experimentation) center fronting as an ordinary hospital (unknown to the Gold King). * ElegantGothicLolita: Gothic dress and pale doll-like skin. It really contrasts with the other members who are plainly-dressed.
* EmotionlessGirl: Perpetually expressionless and talks very little.
* HairDecorations: A red ribbon and miniature hat on her head, making her look even younger.
* HappilyAdopted: By everyone in HOMRA, who dote on her.

* {{Nephewism}}: She was left in her aunt's care after her parents died.

!Misaki Yata
-> ''"I have no reason to listen to you, Blues."''
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/JunFukuyama (Japanese), Creator/BenDiskin (English)

The loudest and brashest member of HOMRA. He's childish, aggressive and quick-tempered.
* {{Adorkable}}: His combination of brash [[HotBlooded Hot Bloodedness]] and innocence is very charming, [[CannotTalkToWomen especially in the presence of girls]].
* AmbiguouslyBi: In Lost Small World, he monologues after his and Saruhiko's first adventure together (along with Saruhiko's cousin) that he wants to befriend him "because he felt so excited his whole body trembled. Because he wanted to see him laugh." When waking up to see Saruhiko's father the first time, he sleepily thinks [[ShipTease "ah, that guy with a quiet face will grow up to be this handsome."]] Later on, his asking Saruhiko to move in with him is written very much like elopement, with his eyes sparkling as he tells him that he means the world to him, and Saruhiko flushing in response. He also gets very flustered around girls, blushing and stammering, so there you have the other side of his spectrum.
* BatterUp: His WeaponOfChoice is a baseball bat.
* BerserkButton:
** Do ''not'' insult Mikoto in front of him. Or HOMRA, for that matter. And, to a lesser extent, calling him by his first name. Saruhiko pushes all of these buttons painfully well with just one sentence that triggers him into UnstoppableRage.
** In fact, Saruhiko is a walking BerserkButton for him [[WeUsedToBeFriends because he defected to SCEPTER 4]] when [[GreenEyedMonster Misaki spent more time with HOMRA than him]]. [[ObliviousToLove Misaki]] doesn't get why he did it and is deeply hurt because of it, though he would never admit it.
* CannotTalkToWomen: He has trouble communicating with the female students in Ashinaka High, and is particularly protective of them.
* CoolBoard: He uses his skateboard to pull crazy acrobatic stunts during fights.
* DevotedToYou: Saruhiko is so obsessed with him that he joined SCEPTER 4 so that Misaki would pay more attention to him.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Does not like milk as stated by Saruhiko, who apparently had to drink all of that for him back in school. [[TheNapoleon That's a possible explanation for his height...]] Though he eventually could, unlike Saruhiko's inability to eat his vegetables, which Misaki considers a metaphor for why he could "move on" and Saruhiko could not.
* EmbarrassingFirstName: His first name, Misaki, is feminine-sounding, causing him a bit of a complex. Hence he always asked everyone to call him Yata, although he used to allow Saruhiko to call him by his first name when they were alone.
* {{Expy}}: Possibly of Zelman Clock from ''Manga/BlackBloodBrothers''. They resemble one another and even share the same [[Creator/JunFukuyama voice actor]].
* FatAndSkinny: Skinny to Rikio's fat.
* FieryRedhead: Impulsive, brash, short-tempered and positively flips when he sees Kuroh the second time. As a member of HOMRA, his powers fittingly consist of fire.
* FirstNameBasis: Saruhiko, due to them knowing each other since they were students, calls him by his first name. After their friendship breaks, it's mostly to piss him off.
** Also, Anna uses his first name several times in the ''Memory of Red'' manga. She seems to have permission as Yata never offers even a token objection.
* FloralThemeNaming: "Misaki" means "beautiful blossom".
* {{Foil}}: To Saruhiko. He's [[TheNapoleon short]], [[HotBlooded loud]], WouldntHitAGirl, [[OlderThanHeLooks looks like a middle schooler]] and...let's face it, he's an idiot. And [[LivingEmotionalCrutch more grounded]].
* GenderBlenderName: The characters that make up his first name, "Misaki", mean "beautiful bloom" in Japanese.
* HairTriggerTemper: He has a short temper and pushing his buttons is ''easy'', especially if your name is Fushimi Saruhiko.
* HatesBeingAlone:[[spoiler: So much that he'd rather still be with his asshole friends in middle school than to have found out what they really thought of him.]]
* HiddenDepths:
** He got into what's implied to be a high-tier middle school for the rich, and despite many people calling him an idiot, even himself, he's actually very perceptive of others' feelings, such as his easily realizing Saruhiko's cousin Aya actually cared about Saruhiko despite always being open about despising him.
** In a similar fashion, he's very emotive towards Anna's ordeal, often berating himself for giving her trouble when she carries some of the heaviest burden in HOMRA after Missing Kings.

* HotBlooded: See FieryRedhead. He just can't calm down.
* InSeriesNickname: Yatagarasu. Also, Yata-chan by Kusanagi.
* ImageSong: "[[http://kirroro.tumblr.com/post/35703064544/yata-misakis-character-song-wild-crow-hmm-i WILD CROW]]".
* ImprobableWeaponUser: He uses his skateboard to attack people.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite his short temper and abrasive personality, he cares deeply for the rest of HOMRA and was devastated by Tatara's death.
** Chapters 10 and 11 or Memory of Red show that he still worries about Saruhiko despite his claim to hate him and that his betrayal still hurts deeply.
* KubrickStare
* LastNameBasis: Even his closest friends in HOMRA call him "Yata", sometimes with the affectionate honorific "-chan", which may imply that he has a complex about his [[EmbarrassingFirstName first name]].
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[http://kirroro.tumblr.com/post/35195369074/k-ost-yata-misaki-along-this-night-training Yata [=MisaKi=]]]".
* LethalChef: Subverted in one of the radio dramas, where Misaki wanted to cook something for Izumo, and Rikio was absolutely positive that his cooking would be absolutely atrocious (the resulting food apparently looked rather gross, too). It was surprisingly delicious. Although, that may possibly just signify a OneNoteCook.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: To Saruhiko.
* LuminescentBlush: Whenever he talks to girls.
* MadeOfIron: He's almost perfectly fine even after Kuroh elbowed him roughly in the gut and threw him into the air, as well as when he crushed him with a giant bulletin board ten times his size.
* AManIsNotAVirgin: He gets mocked this way by Saruhiko who makes fun of his virginity. It was more of a reference to the fact that he CannotTalkToWomen instead of the literal sense of the word, though.
* ManlyTears: He's usually tough and looks thuggish, but he was very emotional and cried during Tatara's and [[spoiler:Mikoto's]] deaths.
* TheNapoleon: Short, brash and childish, and has a height complex.
* ObliviousToLove: Even after Saruhiko left HOMRA due to jealousy and his desire for Misaki to notice him, Misaki fails to realize the true reason behind Saruhiko's actions and simply thought of Saruhiko's betrayal as him turning into a different person from before.
* OlderThanHeLooks: He's 19, but everyone in HOMRA calls him the affectionate "Yata-chan" in regards to his small stature and childish appearance. In the Drama CD, Saruhiko also comments on how he apparently looks more like a middle school student.
* OnlyFriend: He was the only friend Saruhiko Fushimi ever had, and realising Yata had gained other friends [[GreenEyedMonster did not sit well with him]].
* QuiveringEyes: During the flashback to [[spoiler: Saruhiko's betrayal]]. The look on his face is truly heart-breaking and one gets the feeling he's about to actually start crying.
* RedheadInGreen: When he was younger, he wore a long-sleeved green top. Now he wears green trousers.
* SirSwearsALot: In some of the English subtitles and the actual English dub. In the original Japanese, he speaks in a rather crass manner, but he never really swears.
* SuperReflexes: Fast enough to dodge a bullet that interrupted him while he was still talking.
* SupremeChef: He can cook well, and was able to cook fried rice, porridge and curry at the age of 12. Sometimes, however, he gets too creative - a RunningGag is that he frequently puts pineapples and other fruits into dishes like hotpot or rice porridge, several times to Fushimi's distaste. He always says that he does that as Fushimi does not eat vegetables, but he has to get his vitamins ''somewhere''.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: Told Rikio not to interfere in his fight with Saruhiko, even though he was injured.
* {{Tsundere}}: A huge type A by default especially around Saruhiko. With most members of HOMRA though, he's Type B.
* UndyingLoyalty: Misaki is incredibly devoted to people he wants to stay beside or follow, from Saruhiko in their youth (in Lost Small World, it's shown he initially becomes enamored to Mikoto because Mikoto saves Saruhiko, and Memory of Red confirms how much Saruhiko's betrayal hurt him), to Mikoto-san and HOMRA (he comes to idolizes him, to the point that after he's shut down by Saruhiko, he becomes unwilling or unable to see past Saruhiko's hateful outlook toward them), to Anna, Kusanagi-san and the reassembled HOMRA.
* UselessAccessory: He wears his headphones around his neck all the time. Also the jacket tied around his waist that he never seems to wear.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: With Saruhiko. They even joined HOMRA together, and the latter's betrayal obviously hurt Misaki. It is show multiple times that it still hurts and that he has hope left that his best friend is still in there somewhere. Also, his awesome wristwatch was a gift from Saruhiko and that he didn't toss it means he doesn't actually hate him.
* TheWorfEffect: Misaki enters the show spectacularly by beating up tons of mafia goons single-handedly. He then proceeds to get owned by Kuroh twice, and then partially owned by Saruhiko before Seri butts in.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YuuichiNakamura (Japanese), Creator/GrantGeorge (English)

Misaki's buddy, a large man who wears shades. He can change his body weight according to the season, being fat during winter and thin during summer.
* BadassBeard: Has a goatee during wintertime.
* BeautifulAllAlong: Many fangirls squealed when they saw his summer appearance.
* BigBeautifulMan: To those who prefer him when he's fat and see him as a tasteful aversion to the stereotypical portrayal of fat characters in anime.
* BigFun: Again, only during winter. He loses quite a bit of weight in summer.
* TheBigGuy
* ButtMonkey: Often the end of Misaki's childish temper tantrums.
* ChildhoodFriend: Was a part of Misaki's friend group back when they were in first grade, and falls back into getting along with Misaki easily because of that, giving him a pretty good opening in finding a comfortable environment in HOMRA.
* CoolShades: He is shown to be wearing them all of season one until they fall off in episode thirteen.
* DarkSkinnedBlond
* FatAndSkinny: With Misaki. Averted during summer.
* MadeOfIron: Misaki threw him, head-first, into Izumo's bar counter, and there was a sickening crash. He came back unscathed.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: He's the ''only'' male character who doesn't conform to the pale, slender {{Bishonen}}-style aesthetic. Later subverted when it's revealed that he can actually change from looking fat or skinny according to the different seasons. During wintertime, he's fat and bearded, but in summer when he loses weight and shaves the beard it's shown that he's actually BeautifulAllAlong.

!Tatara Totsuka
-> ''"Hello there. I'm here to take some pictures of the night-time scenery, but what about you? My name is Tatara Totsuka, what's yours?"''
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YuukiKaji (Japanese), Creator/LucienDodge (English)

The kindest, nicest member of HOMRA. He was killed by Yashiro before the story began. His death is one of the events that set the plot into motion.
* ActualPacifist: Tatara isn't a big believer in violence.
* AlliterativeName
* BloodFromTheMouth: He received a fatal gun injury and ended up dying like this.
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: A rare male/male version. He was the gentle ''boy'' to Mikoto's brooding.
* CameraFiend: In the manga especially, he was shown to love recording things with his camera. The tape which he took seconds before his death displayed the face of his murderer, who looked suspiciously alike to Yashiro.
* CatchPhrase: "Don't sweat it. It'll will work out somehow."
* DiesWideOpen: His eyes were only partly open, but still.
* DoomedByCanon: The prequel manga fleshes him out, but it's already a given that he dies.
* LackOfEmpathy: Assumes this of himself, as does his neglectful and useless adoptive father who'd leave him alone for weeks at a time--sometimes without water or electricity--as a mere child, saying he's actually "cold" and doesn't care for others--till it all changes when he meets Mikoto and decides he wants to protect him and those that anchor him. Both Anna and Saruhiko describe him as calm amidst fire, but also use terms like "warm," and it may just be that like Anna, he'd muted his emotions in order to deal with his situation in life.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[http://kirroro.tumblr.com/post/35967102700/k-ost-vol-1-track-20-totsuka-tatara-tataras [=TotsuKa=] Tatara]]", a heartwrenchingly heartbreaking song.
* TheLostLenore: To Mikoto, in a non-romantic way [[HoYay (probably)]]. His death had a tremendous psychological impact on Mikoto and continues to affect him through the entire anime.
* MoralityChain: SIDE:RED emphasizes that while Mikoto was the King that HOMRA adored and Izumo gave them the security of "home," he was by and large the glue that held HOMRA together, but most importantly, was there to stop Mikoto from going too far and letting his cynical and "beastly" side overtake him. Saruhiko even muses he has the quality to be a King.
* NiceGuy: Easily the nicest person in HOMRA, whether it came to his clansmen or strangers. He even treats Saruhiko as if the betrayal had never happened. For example, telling him how Misaki is doing or sewing a doll that looks just like him.
* NonActionGuy: In fact, he's said to be the only member of HOMRA who never fought or used violence.
* OddCouple: With Izumo in all the expansion material set before the anime timeframe, where they usually did some kind of BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine to counteract the quirky HOMRA crew's antics, but also managed the likes of Bad Cop and Badder Cop on occasion. It turns out Izumo was quite affectionate around him, to the point Tatara sometimes lamented on being treated like a kid.
* PlotTriggeringDeath: His death is what causes the HOMRA clan to seek out his murderer who they believe is Shiro.
* ThePollyanna: Is always optimistic no matter what the situation.
* PosthumousCharacter: Tatara is already dead by the start of the series, so we learn about him through flashbacks and supplementary materials.
* {{Protectorate}}: For Mikoto. It's outright stated in the manga that hurting Tatara is a quick way to press the Red King's BerserkButton.
* SacrificialLamb: His death is used to establish his killer's cruelty and madness .
* SorryThatImDying: To Misaki and Izumo when they find him bleeding to death.
* SuicidalPacifism: He nearly gets stabbed by Eric Surt in the manga because of this, before getting rescued by Kousuke. It even gets lampshaded by his rescuer, who tells him that [[HarsherInHindsight he'll wind up dead one day if he continues being defenseless around others.]]
* StepfordSmiler: Known to assume this--Izumo even thinks Tatara's ability to smile through struggle is a key reason HOMRA's able to tough out bad situations, and relies on that smile himself.
* TogetherInDeath: [[spoiler: With Mikoto, as shown in the movie.]]
* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: One of the few characters who is genuinely and unambiguously good and ended up dying out of cruelty.
* TortureTechnician: Surprisingly invoked in SIDE:RED through Izumo leading them into a "conversation" with the enemy, wherein Tatara smoothly acknowledges that his low-key power allows him to specialize in more "subtle methods" of extracting information, and gives the enemy a taste of it--and as soon as they manage to get where they need to, Tatara wails that Izumo should stop dragging him into his skits, since he prefers more peaceful methods of negotiation.
--> '''Izumo:''' It was plenty peaceful, wasnít it? In the end, he told us the way to the basement without any further violence.
* TragicBromance: With Mikoto.
* WeakButSkilled: Totsuka is hands-down the weakest HOMRA member, yet his control over his flames is second to none, being able to shape it into various forms at will and even pick a lock silently by precisely burning the necessary parts.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Little is given away about Tatara in the anime, and his death is acknowledged after six chapters in the manga. Flashbacks are used to flesh him out.
** Subverted in the prequel manga which has him as a main character, up to the final chapter where he dies.
* WideEyedIdealist: He truly believed Mikoto would one day make a true and great King, so he became his first follower. He also avoided violence.

!Shouhei Akagi
-> ''"I have become powerful. I can fight on my own, now..."''
-->'''Voiced by:''' Saitou Hironori (Japanese), Creator/ChristopherCoreySmith (English)

A young man who joined HOMRA for the single wish of gaining the power to save his childhood friend from being used by drug dealers, but later realizes there is more to HOMRA than just power, and becomes fiercely loyal. He is the main character of the first two chapters of the manga ''K - Memory of Red''.
* AffectionateNickname: "San-chan" for Bandou.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Is seen this way by Bandou.
* AscendedExtra: Went from a reoccurring background character to a large role in the first two chapters of ''K-Memory of Red''.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Bandou and an unnamed girl.
* IWillProtectHer: For his female childhood friend whom he saves.
* ObliviousToLove: Justified, as he was a kindergartner back then.
--> '''Bandou:''' Why did you kiss Saya-chan?!
--> '''Shouhei:''' ''(innocent)'' Eh? It's because Saya-chan wanted to kiss me.
* NaiveNewcomer: In the prequel manga. Averted in the anime where he's already become an experienced member.
* NiceHat
* SpitTake: When his female childhood friend revealed that she was dating a rich drug dealer.

!Saburouta Bandou
-> ''"You moron! Didn't I tell you? Your comrades aren't just people that come with the package."''
-->'''Voiced by:''' Junichi Yanagita (Japanese)

Shouhei's best friend since young, who has a bit of an inferiority complex towards him.
* AlwaysSecondBest: The reason behind his inferiority to Shouhei.
* AngerBornOfWorry: After finding out that Shouhei is going to endanger himself by breaking into a drug dealing organization alone, Bandou immediately sets out to follow him and the first thing he does when he finds Shouhei is punch him in the face and then yell at him.
* AscendedExtra: Like Shouhei, went from a reoccurring background character to a large role in the first two chapters of ''K-Memory of Red''.
* ButtMonkey: Gets mistreated frequently by the other HOMRA clansmen in the manga, particularly Misaki.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Shouhei.
* CoolShades
* FelonyMisdemeanor: His reasons for feeling inferior to Shouhei are revealed to be incredibly petty ones.
* AFriendInNeed: He helps Shouhei take down an illegal drug dealing group in the prequel manga despite [[spoiler:getting severely injured in the process.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold
* InTheHood
* SempaiKouhai: Acts like the sempai to Shouhei's kouhai.
* TakingTheBullet: [[spoiler:To protect Shouhei, he took a clean hit from an enemy's crowbar]].
* TalkingIsAFreeAction: When he falls after [[spoiler:blocking an attack meant for Shouhei, he says several lines before he lands]].
* TheyCallMeMrTibbs: At first he tells Shouhei not to call him "San-chan" anymore but to use the more respectful "Bandou-san". However, he later reveals he likes being called by the nickname more than he lets on since as soon as Shouhei tries to address him differently, [[DontCallMeSir Bandou tells him not to.]]
* {{Tsundere}}: Clearly cares very much for Shouhei, but he still tries bullying Shouhei into respecting his higher status and refuses to admit that he cares.
-->'''Bandou''': (after Shouhei tries addressing him differently) Shut up! That's disgusting...! Just call me how you used to call me! *[[LuminescentBlush blush]]*
* {{Wangst}}: In-universe, the other HOMRA members treat his inferiority complex like this.

!You Chitose
-->'''Voiced by:''' Kazuki Shimizu (Japanese)

A member of HOMRA who likes visiting clubs and hitting on women, once which almost cost him his life. He is the main character of Chapter 3 of ''K - Memory of Red''.
* BitCharacter: In the anime.
* TheCasanova: Dewa mentions that after Chitose had a hard breakup he hasn't been able to get seriously involved with another woman.
* CooldownHug: Gives one to Maria [[spoiler:after remembering what he was going to say to her]].
* HandsomeLech
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Dewa.
* LoveHurts: The reason why he is unable to get serious with any woman is because of a terrible break-up he once experienced.
* PinkySwear: He [[spoiler:promised Maria that he will hug her and say goodbye when they wake up. When he forgot about it, it drove Maria to try to kill him]].
* WhatDidIDoLastNight: The reason why Maria is out for his blood.
* WouldntHitAGirl: He seems to prefer running away even when they're trying to kill him.

!Masaomi Dewa
->'''Voiced by:''' Akitoshi Kimura (Japanese), Creator/LucienDodge (English)

Chitose's long-suffering friend. He wears a derby hat.
* BitCharacter: In the anime.
* DashinglyDapperDerby
* FriendshipMoment: Despite complaining a bit about his friendship with Chitose earlier, Dewa [[GoThroughMe later moves in front of him protectively]] when Maria arrives.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Somewhat unwillingly with Chitose. He even calls it an "[[http://nihonshock.com/2010/05/%E8%85%90%E3%82%8C%E7%B8%81/ inseparable (but undesirable) relationship]]".
* SatelliteCharacter: Unfortunately, the manga chapter that was supposed to focus on developing both of them ended up being mostly about Chitose at the expense of Dewa's backstory and characterization.
* StoicSpectacles

!Eric Surt
->'''Voiced by:''' Kouji Takahashi (Japanese)

One of the main characters of Chapter 4 and 5 of ''K - Memory of Red''. A young man who was taken in by Fujishima one day, into the bar HOMRA. [[spoiler:He turned out to have been sent there by an organization who tasked him to kill either Mikoto Suoh or Tatara Totsuka, both of which he failed at doing so. He was later forgiven by Tatara and given a second chance after Mikoto made him a new member of HOMRA.]]
* AnimalMotifs: The dog [[spoiler:as a symbol of servitude to its owner.]]
* AssassinOutclassin: [[spoiler:He fails to kill Mikoto in his sleep or stab the defenseless Tatara (albeit someone else stepped in to save Tatara before it could happen).]]
* BilingualBackfire: He tries insulting Yata in English when he first wakes up only for Yata to yell that he can understand him and for Izumo to reprimand him as well.
* BitCharacter: In the anime.
* BlindingBangs: In the anime.
* BlondGuysAreEvil: Ultimately subverted.
* ColdBloodedTorture: Implied to have happened to him since he was first found half-dead in a heap of garbage, and had bruises covering his body.
* EasilyForgiven: [[spoiler:In the manga after trying to kill both Mikoto and Tatara.]]
* ForcedIntoEvil: [[spoiler:Either he follows his orders or he gets killed for failing.]]
* InTheHood: His design in the anime has him wearing a hoodie most of the time.
* IOweYouMyLife: To Kousuke for saving him from dying [[spoiler:and to Mikoto for freeing him from bondage after singlehandedly wiping out the organization he was forced to serve and then making him a new member of HOMRA.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: To most of the other HOMRA clansmen at first, except Kousuke.
* MadeASlave: [[spoiler:Or a "dog" as he calls it.]]
* ParentalAbandonment: Both of his parents died in his youth, but [[spoiler:unfortunately they were part of a criminal organization that took him in afterward and then horribly mistreated him.]]
* SourOutsideSadInside
* TearsOfRemorse: [[spoiler:When he asks the HOMRA clan to help him.]]
* UngratefulBastard: The first thing he does when he wakes up is insult the people around him. [[spoiler:And then he tries to assassinate Mikoto and Tatara.]]
* VolleyingInsults: Often with Yata, whom he enjoyed comparing to a chihuahua due to his small size.

!Kousuke Fujishima

One of the main characters of Chapter 4 and 5 of ''K - Memory of Red''. A kind-hearted young man who took Eric in after finding him lying half-dead on the side of a road. He often tries his best to watch out for his new ward.
* BitCharacter: In the anime.
* TheComicallySerious
* FriendToAllLivingThings
* GoodSamaritan: For animals mostly, although he'll help an injured person, too, if he thinks they need it.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: [[spoiler:After getting his hand pierced by a knife, he later has to remind Totsuka he's still in need of medical attention by showing him his bloody hand nonchalantly.]]
* NiceGuy: He often picks up and brings back injured stray cats or dogs that he finds while walking outside and then takes care of them until they recover. He later does this for Eric as well, and [[spoiler:even tries to take all the blame for him despite everything Eric did]].
* NotSoStoic: [[spoiler:After interrupting Eric's attempt to attack Totsuka by grabbing the blade of his knife barehanded, he angrily asks Eric what he's trying to do and then says he should've forced him to talk earlier. He also looked quite worried when it seemed like Mikoto was about to kill Eric.]]
* TheQuietOne
* TheStoic

-> ''"Men, draw your swords!"''
The Blue Clan, led by Reisi Munakata. They are the sworn enemies of HOMRA. On the surface, they are a sector in the government, meant to deal with supernatural activities. Though highly organized and technologically advanced, the members lack the strong sense of kinship that the HOMRA members have.

Tropes that apply to [=SCEPTER4=] as a whole:
* BadassCrew
* BarrierWarrior: Most of their powers involve making shields of some sort, usually projected outward to push enemies away.
* [[YellowLightningBlueLightning Blue Lightning]]: Although their power appears to be lighting, it's actually water themed. This fits well with how their group works as water will take the shape of any container synonymous with how everyone in the group is expected to 'fill' in their role.
* FlashStep: They all seem to have the ability to do this.
* HonorBeforeReason: Like HOMRA, who are a reckless mob by default, SCEPTER 4 don't use battlefield tactics even when fighting an armed force (HOMRA) in open ground. This, despite having a trained and disciplined police force who all have consistent ranged weaponry and numbers comparable to the enemy. Instead, they rush in and attack one-on-one.
** HollywoodTactics
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Karma".
* OutOfFocus: Compared to HOMRA. None of the members aside from Reisi, Seri and Saruhiko have been given any sort of character development or (much) backstory so far.
* PureEnergy: Their powers seem to be sort of generally formless, taking the shape of force fields and shock waves.
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue Oni to HOMRA's Red Oni.
* ShockAndAwe
* TigerVersusDragon: The Dragon to HOMRA's Tiger.
* WeaponOfChoice: CoolSword. Also, except for Reishi and Saruhiko, most [=SCEPTER4=] members have only been shown channeling their powers through their swords.

!Reisi Munakata
-> ''"We will advance with swords in hand. For our cause is pure!"''
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TomokazuSugita (Japanese), Creator/PatrickSeitz (English)

The 4th King, the Blue King. Leader of [=SCEPTER4=].
* {{Adorkable}}: A surprisingly interesting variation. While extremely classy and clever, he can be extremely socially awkward, and a RunningGag in the radio dramas is that all the members of Scepter-4, while they do respect and admire him, feel so awkward and intimidated that they frequently politely decline any invitation to a get-together involving Munakata himself. A certain get-together ended up with just him and Fushimi at a restaurant, wherein the latter still eventually abandoned him to chase Misaki.
---> '''Munakata''': Hmm... Fushimi-kun sure is taking his time in the toilet. ... Is Fushimi-kun done yet? ... Bill please, to Scepter-4. .... Hah. Am I lonely?
* AdjustingYourGlasses: By the bridge with his fingertips.
* AFatherToHisMen: He sees is squad as his family and goes to great lengths to spend some quality time with them. Even if he has to ''force'' them.
* AntiMagic: He can completely disable the effects of Neko's illusions just by taking one step in the affected area.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking
* BadassLongcoat
* BrilliantButLazy: He prefers quietly sipping tea while his clansmen are getting themselves thoroughly thrashed by an enemy, but as soon as he steps out onto the playing field the odds change dramatically in his favor.
* CatchPhrase: "Let's get straight to the point."
* ClassyCravat
* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot: [[spoiler:After Mikoto kills the Colorless King and awaits Reisi to kill him before his Sword of Damocles can fall, Reisi bitterly tells him that they could have avoided this outcome if Mikoto had only done something earlier to prevent it from happening.]]
* CulturedBadass
* CurbStompBattle: Absolutely crushes Kuroh without even trying.
* CustomUniform: Being the leader of [=SCEPTER4=], he wears a cravat, unlike the rest of the members who have no neckwear.
* FoeRomanceSubtext: Has tons of it with Mikoto starting with their suggestive, almost flirtatious conversation in prison, which is later followed up by Reisi leaning down so close to Mikoto at one point that their faces are only inches apart.
** Their relationship is so much more "romance" than "foe" that Seri seems to be envious of it.
* FriendlyEnemy: To Mikoto.
* GentlemanSnarker: Especially when he snarks at Seri for ignoring Mikoto's human rights by suggesting they should dope him.
* TheGlassesComeOff: When Kuroh punches him in the face.
** And when he [[spoiler: fights Mikoto. He doesn't put them back on until after Mikoto is dead, and even makes a joke about it as they're fighting.]]
* GracefulLoser: After Kuroh punches him in the face and escapes from the stadium, he just slowly picks up his glasses, elegantly flicks his hair and smiles, admitting that he was too careless.
* HairFlip: So fabulous.
* InSeriesNickname: "Boss glasses", courtesy of Neko.
* JapanesePronouns: He uses ''watashi'' most of the time, but switches to ''ore'' in more personal scenes.
* JerkassFacade: When faced with the Gold King's probing questions he replies icily, "Suoh Mikoto was not a man suited for friendship. If you will excuse me." but his stumbling, for once, over his words beforehand shows how shaken he still is.
* JerkassHasAPoint: When [[spoiler: Shiro]] offers to share the burden of watching the Slates, Munakata brutally shuts him down by harshly stating [[spoiler: Shiro]] had run away once before and therefore proved himself unreliable. Even [[spoiler: Shiro]] admits that he had that coming.
* JustToyingWithThem: For his entire battle with Kuroh in Episode 7 since he was not only dodging every attack easily, but also had one hand behind his back and didn't even bother to draw his sword.
* KillTheOnesYouLove: [[spoiler:In the final episode, he reveals that [[BeneathTheMask personally, as Reisi Munakata,]] he only wants to help Mikoto. * {{Leitmotif}}: "[[http://kirroro.tumblr.com/post/36048290750/k-ost-vol-1-track-12-munakata-reisi-reisis [=MunaKata Reisi=]]]", which also doubles as a secondary theme for [=SCEPTER4=].
* LonelyAtTheTop
* TheNeedsOfTheMany: [[spoiler:He is forced to kill Mikoto before his Sword of Damocles could fall and kill many innocent people from the resulting destruction it would create.]]
* MundaneMadeAwesome: Drawing his sword from its scabbard.
* NonchalantDodge: And CasualDangerDialog in his fight with Kuroh.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: Towards Mikoto and Kuroh.
* OfficerAndAGentleman
* PapaWolf: Not too obvious in the anime itself, but there's a manga side story in which he claims he sees SCEPTRE 4 as his family. Yet another way in which he and Mikoto are NotSoDifferent after all.
* ParentalFavoritism: Is not immune to this, even if he is not biologically related to any of his men. In a side story it is mentioned that Saruhiko is his favorite.
* PassiveAggressiveKombat: Reisi uses [[{{Keigo}} polite language]] even when he's insulting someone.
* PastimesProvePersonality: He likes playing jigsaw puzzles, which indicates his intellectual nature.
* PowerDegeneration: [[spoiler:It's revealed in the Countdown side manga that his Weismann level is reaching its limit because of the burden of killing another king. There's even a crack in his Damocles.]]
* PurpleEyes: His eye color seems to indicate both his powerful status and special powers as a king.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Despite being a stickler with rules, he's willing to listen Shiro that Weismann might be the culprit and investigate him. [[spoiler: He's also willing to settle things peacefully with Mikoto and Homra rather than use violence at the risk of the civilians.]]
* SadisticChoice: [[spoiler:Either he is forced to kill the only person he ever considered his friend or let his Sword of Damocles drop to the ground and kill everyone around them. [[KillTheOnesYouLove He chooses the former.]]]]
* ScaryShinyGlasses
* SmugSmiler: Is he ever.
* SpecsOfAwesome
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: "Reisi" or "Reishi"?
* StoicSpectacles
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Seems cold and calculative, but relaxes around the people he trusts.
* TallDarkAndHandsome
* TookALevelInJerkass: Spending time with the Slates seems be having a negative impact on his mental health.
* {{Tsundere}}: Towards Mikoto. He complains several times about breathing the same air as Mikoto made him sick, but clearly cared for Mikoto and actually spends a great deal of effort trying to talk to him, such as in Episode 3 where he went to his jail cell just to talk to him, and in Episode 10 when he [[spoiler:went to the extent of getting Seri to request Izumo just so that he can spend some time with Mikoto]].
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Shows shades of this, as he is willing to strip people of their rights to keep everything stable.
* WorthyOpponent: To Mikoto. See Mikoto's section.

!Seri Awashima
-> ''"Yes, of course. And those who cannot manage the situation... have no need for eyes or ears."''
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MiyukiSawashiro (Japanese), Creator/TaraPlatt (English)

Scepter 4's second-in-command, a cold and calculating woman.
* ActionGirl: She's the only woman who actively fights alongside the men amongst the cast. However, it's in the Days of Blue manga where her true colors as a fighter are shown. She spends her day off catching dangerous animals sicked on [=SCEPTER4=] while her clansmen cower in fear- even going so far as to ''kill a snake with her bare hands.''
* BigDamnHeroes: She stops the fight between [[spoiler:Saruhiko]] and [[spoiler:Misaki]] before it got even worse.
* CustomUniformOfSexy: Wears a customized uniform emphasizing all of her [[{{Fanservice}} assets]] as the only female member of [=SCEPTER4=].
* DangerouslyShortSkirt
* DeerInTheHeadlights: In Episode 9, she freezes when Mikoto launches a powerful fiery vortex at her and her men, forcing Saruhiko to run in front of her and throw up a barrier to try to block it. Episode 11 has her get surprised enough to nearly get beaten by Misaki if Saruhiko didn't protect her again.
** Though it is debatable whether he did it to save her or get Misaki all to himself.
* EmbarrassingNickname: [[spoiler:Izumo]] calls her the "Tundra Woman" which somewhat embarrasses her when Misaki uses it as well when he first meets her, and she later tells [[spoiler:Izumo]] not to say strange things to his clansmen.
* FauxActionGirl: For being [=SCEPTER4=]'s second in command she certainly doesn't seem to fight much, and whenever she does she's easily beaten. Special mention to that the only move she uses is the same StockFootage move that's used in the opening. It's exasperated by the fact that she picks fights or displays some measure of arrogance, but scares easy.
* FormFittingWardrobe
* FriendlyEnemy: With [[spoiler:Izumo]].
* HairDecorations: She wears a pretty, tiara-like hair clip on the back of her head which holds her two hair buns together when she's at work.
* IceQueen: Reisi even comments on her willingness to ignore human rights in pursuit of their goals and [[spoiler:Izumo]] nicknames her the Tundra Queen.
* IcyBlueEyes: Has piercing light blue eyes, and a cold personality.
* ImpossiblyCoolClothes
* JapanesePronouns: Usually uses the formal "watashi" or even "watakushi" most of the time when on screen, but when [[spoiler:speaking to Izumo]], she uses the much less formal and more feminine "atashi".
* LadyOfWar: Especially so in the manga adaptation rather than the anime.
* LethalChef: She drowns all of her dishes in [[TrademarkFavoriteFood red bean paste]] making them look disgusting.
* LettingHerHairDown: She is absolutely ''gorgeous'' in casual clothes with her hair down.
* MaleGaze:
** Rather narmy, actually. The camera is incredibly blatant about this whenever she's about to swing her sword.
** The ''exact same animation'' is reused in each fight (a ridiculous pan from her butt around up to her breasts before she ''finally'' swings her sword and fails to do anything useful at all). It goes beyond blatant.
* MsFanservice
* NumberTwo: To Reisi.
* PrettyInMink: Her casual wear [[spoiler:which she wears when visiting Izumo's bar]] includes a white fur coat.
* ShesGotLegs
* ShipTease: With [[spoiler:Izumo]], they are shown having friendly banter and even an AlmostKiss in K: Memory of Red.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: She has a cold outer exterior, but she lets her hair down (both literally and figuratively) before her friend [[spoiler:Izumo]].
* TheSquadette
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Apparently enjoys red bean paste so much she mixes it into her alcoholic beverages.
* WhyDidItHavetoBeSnakes: Can't handle spiders.

-> ''"Ah, I forgot. You've always hated it when I called you by your first name, right? Mi... sa... ki...?"''
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MamoruMiyano (Japanese), Creator/JohnnyYongBosch (English)

The third-in-command of Scepter 4. A lazy, rather bored young man who is younger than both Reisi and Seri. He used to be a member of HOMRA before he switched sides, claiming that he didn't fit in with them and because he is seeking more power. It turns out another part of it is to get Misaki's attention, and though he won't not admit it, he sees Munakata as the good father figure he never had.
* AdjustingYourGlasses: Pushes them up by the bridge.
* AllYourPowersCombined: Despite having left HOMRA, he can still use their fire-based powers and combine them with the powers he gained from [=SCEPTER4=].
* AloofBigBrother: Although they're second cousins, he's this to Aya in K - Lost Small World. Her feelings over him seem to darken by the time they're in late middle school, and his opinions and assumptions about her grow even worse.

* AmbitionIsEvil: He left HOMRA for power, and wants to make Misaki see how well he's doing with it, without him. It turns out in Lost Small World that Misaki and his original goal had been to gain power to topple those who played around with society.
* AttentionWhore: Towards Yata. Seeing as he'll go to lengths to just get Yata's attention. Especially obvious in episode 12 when Misaki's attention is shortly drawn towards [[spoiler:Shiro's]] Sword of Damocles. He completely freaks out, raging with jealousy, demanding to have Misaki's attention back on him:
--> '''Saruhiko''': Misaki! Why are you looking away? I am your opponent! I am, remember?!
** This was even more prominent in supplementary materials, where he would deliberately rile up Misaki using childish taunts just to get him to show him some attention.
* BadassLongcoat
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: According to an interview with the voice actor, Creator/MamoruMiyano, Fushimi was originally a rather timid person who clung on to Misaki because he's the only one who was nice and actively tried to reach out to him. It's rather tragic.
** Misaki was probably the only person who was willing to keep 'saving' Fushimi [[spoiler: because during their first encounter in LSW novel Fushimi [[ComplainingAboutRescuesTheyDontLike complains about Misaki trying to save him from the bullies]] because he believes that [[TwistingTheWords Misaki expects some 'graditude' from him despite Misaki earnestly claiming to want to help him.]] Although it's likely the reason Misaki stayed with Fushimi is because he HatesBeingAlone after his friends abandon him and he admired Fushimi's intelligence.]]
* BerserkButton: Do not try to interfere with a fight between him and Misaki. Rikio tried, and was immediately attacked by flame-covered daggers, and Saruhiko's maniacal shrieking. Subverted with Seri, possibly because she is his boss and he won't dare to go against her for such a petty reason. It would just backfire on him.
** Another one is [[spoiler: taunting him about his mental instability and status as a traitor. When Munakata does this in ''Return of Kings'', he gets so angry that he ''actually quits being a SCEPTER 4 member''.]]
* {{Bishonen}}: In ''K - Lost Small World'', after initially describing Saruhiko as looking lame, when Misaki first meets Saruhiko's dad while half-asleep, he thinks [[ShipTease "ah, that guy with a quiet face will grow up to be this handsome."]] It turns out he does.
* BloodKnight: Has been into pushing Misaki's buttons hard, and can be ruthless against those go against Scepter 4, to the point that other members are taken aback.
--> '''Saruhiko''': I am not interested in this country. I am only interested in blood and flesh.
* BreakTheCutie: As expanded on in the Lost Small World novel, [[spoiler:he's abused (by his dad) and neglected (by his mom) until his preteens, when he finally finds a best (and only) friend in Misaki who brings solace and brightens his unhappy life with [[HoYay a very close friendship]] (a [later] "lost small world") and excitement, and soon thereafter escapes his home situation by living together with him, filled with hope that they could topple those who played around with society together. That hope is initially crushed by Jungle, before they're saved by HOMRA from being mobbed, and decide to join them to gain their power. Not too long after that, as they grow comfortable in their life together with HOMRA, he starts to hallucinate his (now dead) abusive dad Niki, and even though HOMRA attempts to support and understand him, he can't bring himself to tell them about his hallucinations. Increasingly bitter that the one person he wants to understand him--Misaki--no longer does, he betrays them, joining Scepter 4...then learns the hallucination are due to the manipulation of the Green Clan, who wanted to separate him from Misaki, the only reason he stayed in HOMRA. This news is brought to him by his cousin Aya, who he despises due to thinking she wants to hurt him, those he loves, and ruin everything good in his life--like Niki--and who'd taken on the username of...NIKI.]] '''Saruhiko needs a fucking break.''' And a hug.
--> '''Saruhiko:''' Heroes sure are convenient to have around, but no matter how long you wait for them, they'll never appear in real life.
* BrilliantButLazy: He has been mentioned to be extremely talented, except that he slacks off more often than not, much to Seri's chagrin. There's a reason he's the third-in-command in [=SCEPTER4=], behind only Seri and Reisi despite his tender age of 19.
* BrokenBird: Very much due to his dad and later, the manipulations of the Green Clan [[spoiler:to get him away from HOMRA]]. His reaction to hearing about his father's death is heartbreaking.
** In Days of Blue, the very honest and forward Hidaka of Scepter 4 realizes Saruhiko's fragile nature when Saruhiko looks genuinely stunned to hear that Hidaka trusts him and cares about his well-being. From then on he makes it a mission of his to try to drag Saruhiko into the Blues' more lighthearted excursions whenever he sees a chance.
* BrutalHonesty: In the short story ''The King and the Traitor'' [[http://chilly-territory.tumblr.com/post/49356085378/k-on-the-side-2-short-story-1-the-king-and-the]], Mikoto's surprisingly appreciative of how he's one of the few people left willing to speak harsh truths to his face.
* CainAndAbel: With Aya by the end of middle school, with her stating wild-eyed that she'll oppose anyone in her way, including Mikoto and HOMRA, because Saruhiko doesn't "see her," and he basically looks back at her and sees the twisted face of his father. ([[spoiler:It's to the point she's even willing to take on the username of NIKI, Saruhiko's dad name.]])
* ChildOfTwoWorlds: Even if he's in denial or simply refusing to admit it, both the anime and the beginning of Lost Small World heavily imply that not only did he join the Blue Clan, he is STILL a part of the Red Clan. HOMRA's mark never disappeared, he can still use their red fire in combination with Scepter 4's blue, and when [[spoiler:Mikoto dies]], he feels the light rise from him and its pain.
* CurbStompBattle: He easily knocks out four HOMRA clansmen simultaneously in mere seconds.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler:The majority of it is due to his dad Niki, who abuses him from childhood to his preteens by attempting to destroy anything he cares about (including, at one point, threatening and possibly almost attempting to set Misaki on fire), because he finds it funny. Part of the reason Saruhiko hates being called Saru is because when Niki first looked at him as a baby, he'd derisively guffawed that he looked like "an ugly little monkey" and demanded that his name have "saru (monkey)" in it because of that, with his mother going along with it, and his majority similarly asshole relatives thereafter finding it funny.]] He doesn't seem to ever mention this to anyone, though, for good reason.
* DefrostingIceKing: In ''K - Lost Small World''. When he was a child, due to having an absent mother and an abusive father, he was extremely cold and rejected any attempts at being his friend. When Misaki tried to help him out when they were 12, he coldly told him to get lost. Misaki continued to hang around him despite his annoyance, however, and Saruhiko eventually warmed up to him.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Does not eat raisins, bamboo shoots and green peppers, and every other type of vegetable. Misaki always helped him eat them back in school.
* DeadpanSnarker: When he is not in [[GreenEyedMonster wildly jealous-mode]] over Misaki.
* TheDogBitesBack: Defeated his bullies in a game and got them into debt.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: He's dark haired and ''extremely'' pale, almost gray, skinned. Misaki even comments on how unhealthy pale he is in a side-novel featuring their early life together.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: When he was back in HOMRA, his hair was surprisingly less unkempt, and similar to Reisi's current hairstyle.
* FirstNameBasis: With Misaki in their middle school years and the time spent with HOMRA, during which he was the only person whom Misaki allowed to refer to him by his (girlish) first name--though only when they were alone, of course. After their relationship is severed, Misaki starts to call him Saru, which he hates, and he begins to drawl out Misaki's name, which Misaki no longer wants him to say.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: In Days of Blue, when Hidaka states "No parent hates their kid!" the panel drops to focus directly on him.
** In Lost Small World, the first sign that Saruhiko's parents care nothing for him is given when Aya, his cousin, tells Misaki over the phone that when Saruhiko was a child, burglars once broke into the house while he was in it, and the first priority of his parents had been to replace the expensive possessions at the front of the house with inexpensive ones. Then Misaki realizes that his parents had left the sick Saruhiko alone--there's a maid that could make his food, but he doesn't trust her. [[spoiler:Then, Saruhiko's dad comes home, and it all spirals downward from there.]]
* {{Foil}}: To Misaki. He's tall, [[BrilliantButLazy a lazy genius]], [[WouldHitAGirl not a gentleman]], YoungerThanHeLooks and [[StalkerWithACrush not]] [[GreenEyedMonster exactly]] [[BreakTheCutie together]].
* FriendToAllChildren: Children love him throughout all the supplementary material despite the fact that he wants nothing to do with them (but somehow, always winds up indulging them--while scowling, of course), a hint to his secretly kind nature beneath his facade of not caring and overwhelming insecurities.
* FreudianExcuse: Saruhiko's odd behaviour comes from his father's frequent abuse. In fact, his intensely desperate and jealous behaviour whenever Misaki is involved resembles the sadistic behaviour his father, Niki Fushimi, exhibited with him. It was heavily implied in ''Lost Small World'' that he acts like that around Misaki so that he does not show weakness, and the fact that he still needs Misaki. According to WordOfGod, Saruhiko is a person who "in many ways, stopped maturing since middle school", explaining his emotional instability and childish attempts at getting Misaki's attention, despite his intelligence.
** Part of the reason he betrays HOMRA is due to not only feeling like Misaki, the one person he wants to understand him, no longer does, but the implication that he sees Mikoto as an unreliable King, thinking first of how he was willing to potentially burn two children alive to see if they were made for the Clan or not, from his perspective at least. His anxiety around Mikoto and his fire is brought up more than once in expansions.
---> '''Seri:''' Suppose there really is a traitor whoís trembling while covered in cold sweat; Iíd say at the very least itís safe to assume heís not switching sides because he likes it.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: HOMRA apparently picked him up off the streets, and after defecting to Scepter 4 he climbed the ranks to third in command by the time he was 19. For reference, he appears to be the youngest member of Scepter 4 seen yet. [[spoiler: And then he leaves the blue clan for JUNGLE...]]
* GigglingVillain: Not really the "villain" part... But he indulges in evil giggling a lot whenever Misaki is concerned.
* TheGlassesComeOff: Accidentally happens when he fights Misaki, indicating that he's not BlindWithoutEm, although he still needs them to see well since he picks them up again shortly afterwards.
* GoodWithNumbers:
-->'''Misaki:''' What is 37 + 21 - 44 x 17 / 4?\\
'''Saruhiko:''' 59.5, if you calculate it from left to right. -129 if you calculate it in the proper order.\\
'''Misaki:''' .... oh. Uh. Right.
* GreenEyedMonster: He's not all that thrilled that Misaki worships the ground Mikoto is on after both were picked up from the streets. It's enough to switch to [=SCEPTER4=] not simply because of power, but due to his envy of HOMRA's importance in Misaki's life that ended up pushing himself further and further away from him.
* HazyFeelTurn: At some point in his past he was a member of HOMRA, but later betrayed them to join [=SCEPTER4=]. Neither side is portrayed as overtly good or evil, though.
** [[spoiler: Upgrades to full FaceHeelTurn when he leaves [=SCEPTER4=] and joins JUNGLE.]]
* HighCollarOfDoom
* IgnoreTheFanservice: In K: Countdown, after Kuroh and Neko trespass Scepter 4 territory and he catches them, Neko, who's upset with Kuroh, creates an illusion of a dozen cats in an attempt to allude them both, which then turn human...and, as in the beginning of K, ''every single one nude.'' Kuroh reacts by turning extremely beet red from head to toe, and confesses he's "too immature" to deal with them--while tellingly, Saruhiko's just white as a sheet.
* ImageSong: [[http://youtube.com/watch?v=coWL1dCijac I Beg Your Hate]] which shows again just how [[GreenEyedMonster possessive]] he is of Misaki.
* InSeriesNickname: "Saru" (monkey) by Misaki and HOMRA's men in general. Also "mean glasses" by Neko.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite his more frenzied moments in season 1 (which has the implication of a front he puts on due to intense desperation, jealousy and insecurity, as in later supplementary material and Missing Kings he's typically calm and together even around Misaki), seeming heartlessness towards enemies in Days of Blue, and willingness to use less moral tactics, it becomes evident in his appearances that he's actually kind, with his allowing children to snuggle up to him and sleep on his leg (with a sour face of course), letting Anna (also a child) see White Bean Paste Stewed Tofu, a horse Strain that she'd befriended after it originally ran away from Scepter 4, even after she [[spoiler:becomes the Red King]] and is thus violating countless laws (with a sour face of course), and excusing outsider Clansmen like Kuroh and Neko for trespassing Scepter 4 territory for benign reasons, even showing concern for them.
* KnifeNut: When he was in HOMRA. He still uses them, in addition to his sword.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[http://kirroro.tumblr.com/post/36197411576/k-ost-vol-1-track-09-knife-saruhikos-theme Knife]]", which also doubles as a theme for Saruhiko's broken relationship with Misaki.
* LeParkour: The opening implies that he is able to do this. It shows him jumping from street light to street light, with [[CutlassBetweenTheTeeth his sword between his teeth]] no less, and he is very quick and agile in the anime proper.
* LonersAreFreaks: In flashbacks, he is rarely shown interacting with the HOMRA members aside from Misaki and when Misaki began idolizing Mikoto and embraced HOMRA, he became more bitter toward HOMRA as a whole.
* LudicrousPrecision: Knows Misaki's height to the nearest 0.1 centimeters. And this is [[StalkerWithACrush without the latter even knowing his own height to the nearest 10 centimeters]].
* MarkOfShame: The burnt HOMRA tattoo on his chest, which is later revealed to have been self-inflicted when he left the clan. It still seems to bother him though, since he scratches it whenever he's around other HOMRA members.
* TheMirrorShowsYourTrueSelf: There is a scene of him, after joining Scepter-4 and copying some aspects of Niki Fushimi's personality so as to not appear weak, looking into the mirror and seeing an image of his sadistic deceased father staring back at him.
* NonchalantDodge: Happened a few times during his battle with Misaki in Episode 5.
* NonUniformUniform: He is the only member of [=SCEPTER4=] to leave his uniform coat unbuttoned and his shirt collar turned up.
* NothingUpMySleeve: In episode 5, it's shown that he keeps his throwing knives up his sleeves.
* NotSoStoic
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: Towards Misaki. As soon as Rikio tries to get involved in their battle, Saruhiko cuts him off with an attack and then yells at him to stay out of it. Subverted as Saruhiko does not actually want to ''defeat'' him as much as he just wants to fight.
* ParentalFavoritism: A non-biological version. He is [[AFatherToHisMen Munakata]]'s favorite, knows this and is not above using it to get something he wants. Like his single room, for example.
* PetTheDog: Despite leaving HOMRA he still obviously cares for Anna to the point [[http://hikikomori-sama.tumblr.com/post/38398107325 in the radio drama]] where he's willing to help her get unstuck. Granted, he can't help her because he's not physically strong enough to move the vending machines, but it's the thought that counts. Alas, Seri does not believe him one bit when he tells her he's helping a child out.
** He's also really awkward around children in general, but they tend to be quite fond of him.
* PoorCommunicationKills: His being unable to express himself to Aya (and she in turn), HOMRA and Misaki leaves him with a lot to struggle with alone, and even now in Scepter 4 he's barely opened up.
* PsychoElectro
* PsychoticSmirk: Whenever Misaki is involved.
* QuiveringEyes: When Saruhiko thinks aloud about the fact that Tatara may be dead after all, his eyes were clearly quivering and he was visibly upset. Hints towards his HiddenHeartOfGold.
* TheRedMage: He still has his HOMRA powers...
* SingleTargetSexuality: It's always Misaki, Misaki, Misaki. His feelings are very obvious in [[http://lady-of-greenwood.tumblr.com/post/86408530312/just-putting-this-out-there-call-me-emotional-but this radio drama]]. Poor Izumo doesn't really know how to handle all that heartbreak.
* SickEpisode: Once in middle school, he fell ill but continued to work on his project hoping to create a method of communication immune of JUNGLE's spyware, so that he can communicate with Misaki. Misaki went to his house to take care of him, cooking him food and making him take a break. It was also when Misaki first ran into Saruhiko's abusive father.
* SlasherSmile: Whenever Misaki is involved.
* SourOutsideSadInside: His true current nature, more or less, though the shadow of Niki tends to haunt him.
* SpecsOfAwesome
* StalkerWithACrush: Toward Misaki especially in the Drama CD. It's very suspicious that he knows almost ''everything'' about Misaki from his height to his blood type and birthday etc (since it's not written by [=GoRA=] and it's later revealed that they grew up together and were close till recently, Misaki mentioning that info to him in canon wouldn't be improbable, though). Even in earlier episodes, he showed his stalker tendencies particularly going to all the places Misaki was at and getting disappointed when he missed him.
* StoicSpectacles
* SugarAndIcePersonality: In supplementary material, it's shown nearly once every manga or novel he features in that children tend to adore him, and while he puts on a sour face, he always winds up indulging them somehow. He's frequently overlooked unrelated Clansmen stepping into Scepter 4 territory for benign reasons despite how at each other's throats most clans are in default, from Kuroh and Neko to Totsuka and Anna (...even after she [[spoiler:''becomes the Red King!'']]). There's also large implication that his frenzied behavior around Misaki in season 1 was a facade he put on out of desperation and insecurity, as in the supplementary material set afterwards and in Missing Kings, he's much calmer (and even sad-sounding) around him, and despite his cold front, frequently winds up aiding HOMRA and--at least once or twice--Misaki in some way.
* {{Troll}}: He ''loves'' to press Misaki BerserkButton's just to piss him off. He deliberately provokes him cruelly for no particular reason other than amusement at his pained, angered reactions. Turns out he does it to get Misaki to finally pay him some attention, and insecurities that lead him to want to make sure Misaki knows he can get the power they wanted in their childhood on his own and doesn't need him anymore--he doesn't.
* {{Tsundere}}:
** A rather strange example, but an example nonetheless - he hides the fact that he really cares about Misaki and what he feels and thinks towards him through either a sadistic, cruel exterior (e.g. Episode 5) or a bored, easily irritated one (Drama CD, where he grumbles about Misaki being annoying several times).
** It is [[http://hikikomori-sama.tumblr.com/post/38398107325 played straight for laughs in a radio drama]] towards Anna, in a non-romantic way.
--> '''Fushimi''': [[BlatantLies I-It's not like I wanted to help you or anything. I just didn't like that machine, that's all.]]
* TurnCoat: From one clan to another.
* WaistcoatOfStyle
* WellDoneSonGuy: Has a variation with Mikoto, most prominently in the King and the Traitor short story, where he tries to get a rise out of Mikoto to see if he actually cares about his well-being, but is either in denial over the fact or doesn't understand that he does. Mikoto's final words to him are [[spoiler:"You're fine the way you are, Fushimi."]]
* WeUsedToBeFriends: With Misaki.
* WhenHeSmiles: Most prominent in Lost Small World when he and Misaki are middle schoolers. He has a hard time expressing himself, but after he warms up to Misaki he gives these sometimes, like when Misaki and he agree to live together and Misaki reacts happily, and Saruhiko gives him "a fond smile" in response.
* WorthyOpponent: To Misaki.
* WouldHitAGirl: Knocks Sakura Asama out with chloroform and boredly shoves her to one side to access the student database. This is likely a {{Foil}} to Misaki's WouldntHitAGirl tendencies.
* YoungerThanHeLooks: He's 19, but looks like he's in his early twenties. Contrasts nicely with Misaki, who's four months older but looks like a middle schooler (according to him).

The Green Clan, led by Hisui Nagare. On its surface, JUNGLE appears to be an ordinary social networking website. Members of JUNGLE complete missions in order to gain points in order go up ranks and temporary powers. Those who reach the highest rank(J-rank) get to meet the King in order to gain permanent powers. Given the nature of the clan, it's technically the largest of all the clans. However, most of the members are merely pawns to help carry out the clan's actual agenda.

Below are tropes that apply to JUNGLE as a whole:
* FantasticRankSystem: The ranking system of JUNGLE is named after the letters of its name, with new accounts starting as E-rank, then going from L, to G, all the way up to J-rank. Those below J-rank are pretty much {{Mooks}} granted temporary powers while the J-rank members are the actual members of the clan with permanent powers.
* MeaningfulName: The Green clan has members all over the city, like a jungle spreading its roots everywhere.
* {{Mooks}}: Unlike the other clans, the majority of the clan is essentially composed of these due to its hierarchy.
* ShockAndAwe
* YouHaveFailedMe: Failing a mission is grounds for losing your powers, as one failed assassin finds out when Kuroh and Neko confront him no worse for wear.

* TheCaretaker: Specifically to Hisui.
* CynicismCatalyst: [[spoiler: The Kagutsu incident and the loss of his entire clan put a huge damper on his former idealism.]]
* FakingTheDead: [[spoiler: He's actually the Grey King, who allegedly died in the Kagutsu incident.]]
* TheGunslinger: He likes shooting at range, but he does know GunFu.
* KingIncognito: [[spoiler: He's the Grey King, but makes himself pass as a mere clansman of JUNGLE.]]
* ParentalSubstitute: Implied to be this for Hisui. In the Return of Kings ~ Prelude Green Side, Iwafune even says he is like Hisui's foster father and Hisui does not deny it.
* OminousFog: He can conjure these.
* OnlySaneMan: Among the J-rankers, Iwafune is definitely the sanest.
* TeamDad: Considered the 'father figure' of the group despite his drinking habit.
* ThatManIsDead: [[spoiler: He claims that his old identity of Seigo Otori died in the Kagutsu Incident.]]

!Aya Oogai

Appearing in K - Lost Small World, Aya is a cheerful girl in Misaki and Saruhiko's middle school who at first seems interested in Misaki. It turns out she's Saruhiko's second cousin, and just as sharp as the rest of her family. Considering them, she has her share of troubles. At the end of LSW, her JUNGLE account is permanently shut down by Hisui because of Aya confronting Fushimi without his orders.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: A driving force in her detoriated relationship with Saruhiko-- she always feels as if she's being left behind, and grows increasingly bitter over how he hasn't been trying by the end of middle school and plans to quit.
* AmbitionIsEvil: Because of her desperate need to prove herself, she's one of the first known characters working to rapidly climb the ranks of Jungle in order to attain "power."
* BeneathTheMask: Her personality can seem frivolous at first glance, and her style of speech might enhance the idea, but she has the same brains as the rest of the their family and is near the top of their grade. At first she acts cheerful around Misaki as well, but in reality she's resentful that he managed to open up Saruhiko's world and she couldn't due to her having the same struggles as Saruhiko to express herself--although it turns out she does care about Misaki.
* BrokenBird: She cares about Saruhiko but could never bring herself to express it and results with him coming to truly hate her--it's increasingly implied in his POV he sees his abusive father in her--and later despairs "should she have been like Misaki-kun from the beginning?"
* CainAndAbel: With Saruhiko by the end of middle school, with her stating wild-eyed that she'll oppose anyone in her way, including "the red monster" (Mikoto), because Saruhiko doesn't "see her," and he basically looks back at her and sees the twisted face of his father. ([[spoiler:It's to the point she's even willing to take on the username of NIKI, Saruhiko's dad.]])
* DistaffCounterpart: She and Saruhiko act as mirrors to each other in many ways, but near the end of middle school when she gets glasses, Misaki remarks with surprise--"Your glasses, donít they look like Saruhikoís?"
* GirlishPigtails
* GoodParents: At first the reader is left to wonder if their house is as troubled as Saruhiko's considering how she talks about her parents, but although they may have their own issues, it seems as though her mother cares a lot about her, showcasing concern about the unhappiness she sees in Aya, thinking it has to do with parting with friends, and comforting her with a hug.
* LonersAreFreaks: Saruhiko thinks to himself about how she doesn't have friends, even though she boasts many "friends" on the Jungle app--one of the many ways they've paralleled for a while. Misaki considers her his friend, and she breaks down crying at the thought of not being able to see him and Saruhiko again as they take the first step of growing up--and apart.
* TheMole: Acts as this for the Green Clan.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Not surprising considering her and Saruhiko's BigScrewedUpFamily, but it's the main reason their already highly contentious relationship takes a dive off a cliff. She openly displays her dislike of him, and he ends up hating her for real.
* SpoiledBrat: She seems to be at a point in life where everything about her mother annoys her.
* {{Tsundere}}: Like with Saruhiko, her pretending to despise and look down on people to bury her own insecurities has its real life consequences.
* UnknownRival: Saruhiko doesn't acknowledge her as a rival and doesn't even acknowledge her existence as he never tried to remember her name. While Aya is always projecting her view of him being her rival on to him; possibly a result of them always being compared to during family gatherings because they're the same age.
* ValleyGirl: Her way of speaking is frequently translated this way.

[[folder:Other Kings]]
!Adolf K. Weismann
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TetsuyaKakihara (Japanese), Creator/LucienDodge (English)

The 1st King, the Silver King. Unchanging and immortal, it was he who designed the King system long ago. A vaguely sinister and very eccentric figure, he soon proves to not be quite who he seems.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: He is often seen acting creepily and downright psychotic at some points behind the scenes, but his identity and motivations remain mysterious. [[spoiler:Turns out he is not evil at all, but the Colorless King possessing him indeed is.]]
* BodySurf: [[spoiler:He has moved from his body into that of a 17 year old boy, lost his memories, and constructed a persona as Shiro. He still seems to be himself, even without memories. It's unknown who, if anyone, Shiro was before he became Adolf.]]
* BystanderSyndrome: After the death of his sister, he decided to completely detach himself from the world and never get involved with people's affairs. In the manga, [[spoiler:he told the Colorless King that even though he saw how he killed Tatara, he wouldn't anything about it]].
* CompleteImmortality: The Silver King's power is 'unchanging', and he's known as the 'Immortal King' who hasn't aged for decades. He also survived a bombing in WWII during which he lost his older sister.
* CynicismCatalyst: He did ''not'' take his older sister's death well at all, and isolated himself for over sixty years as a result of his bereavement.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[http://kirroro.tumblr.com/post/38437421685/k-ost-vol-2-track-06-adolf-k-weismann-adolfs Adolf K. Weismann]], a rather dramatically sinister song. [[spoiler:This song is more often used as a Leitmotif for the evil Colorless King, though, than the innocent Silver King Adolf.]]
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: Grey long hair, compared to Shiro's hair color.
* ManOfWealthAndTaste: Dressed as a classy gentleman enjoying a refined lifestyle while scheming evily. [[spoiler:[[SubvertedTrope Turns out he himself is not evil, merely possessed.]]]]
* MeaningfulName: Weismann--White Man, referring to his hair color and his role as the Silver King. [[spoiler: More meaningful is the fact that he is known as ''Shiro'' and has white hair during the series.]]
* MysteriousMiddleInitial: The "K" in his name.
* MysteriousWatcher: In the third episode, he appears to be observing Shiro from his airship. While dancing around inside his room, images of Shiro appear on the floor with each new step he takes until he finishes the dance.
* MysticalWhiteHair: His silver hair befits his position as the Silver King with the power of immortality.
* NotHimself: The unhinged behavior he shows in early episodes doesn't mesh with his behavior in the past as shown in Episode 9. [[spoiler:Episode 11 finally reveals it was because he was possessed by Tatara's murderer at the time, explaining why he was acting so differently.]]
* OlderThanHeLooks: Hasn't aged a day in over sixty years.
* RapunzelHair: He has knee-length silvery hair, although in the past it was much shorter.
* SharpDressedMan: Wears a classy ensemble consisting of a long dark jacket and pants paired with a ruffled white shirt.
* SoullessShell: [[spoiler:The Silver King's body survived the airship explosion without a scratch but it appears to be soulless, since his mind is in another body and the Colorless King has already abandoned it.]]
* UnfortunateName: The unfortunate part is ultimately meaningless.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: He appears as a crazy, creepy guy with grey hair. [[spoiler:Subverted as this was just the result of the Colorless King possessing him.]]
* WickedCultured: Wears fancy-looking clothes and frequently dances around his room with an inanimate woman wearing a fox mask. [[spoiler:This is later revealed to have been the Colorless King controlling him at the time, and not his own actions.]]

!Daikaku Kokujouji
-> ''"This country is doomed."''
-->'''Voiced by:''' ShozoIizuka & Creator/YuuichiNakamura (young) (Japanese), Creator/KirkThornton (English)

The 2nd King, the Gold King. He plays a supporting role behind the scenes.
* AntiquatedLinguistics: When he demands if Reisi came to fight him or talk.
* BadassGrandpa: Judging by his status as a king.
** He's been described as an "invincible monster" by some. Even ''Munakata'' shares this opinion.
** Apparently, the only reason that the Green Clan wasn't active until ''Missing Kings'' was because of him. Once he's out of the picture, they don't hesitate to set their plans into motion and start harassing the other clans.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: His absence in ''Anime/KMissingKings'' is questioned several times by the characters. [[spoiler:He's actually been travelling around with Shiro for most of the movie in an airship, on the verge of death. He passes away at the end.]]
* DispenseWithThePleasantries: He tells Reisi to get straight to the point when the other king visits him in Episode 9.
* InformedAbility: He's spoken of as if he were the most powerful character in the series, and is even called "invincible" at some point, yet we never actually see him fight. That said, it has to count for something if even ''a fellow king'' recognizes your higher authority.
* IWasQuiteALooker: In the flashback of his younger years, he was shown as a handsome lieutenant. Unlike the Silver King, age has taken a toll on Daikaku.
* LargeAndInCharge: At '''210''' cm, he's the tallest character in the series, standing one full head above the rest of the cast. He's also the one of the most powerful kings.
* LuminescentBlush: Sports one of these in the flashback to his youth, ostensibly [[ShipTease in response to Claudia.]]
* MinorMajorCharacter: For one of the strongest kings in the world who exercises the most control over Japan and its economy, Daikaku rarely shows up.
* OnlyFriend: To Weissman, [[spoiler:until Weissman became the Shiro we know.]]
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: This is the one thing he proves himself to be. He is the backbone of the country in many ways, from having a hand in Japan's continued functioning to making sure [[{{Muggle}} the mundane populace]] is [[TheMasquerade kept unaware of the supernatural elements in their society.]]
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler:He's responsible for Shiro's going into hiding after the first season, and for keeping his whereabouts and even his survival under wraps.]] His efforts are ruined when the Green Clan hacks his headquarter's database in ''Anime/KMissingKings''.
* ThreeAmigos: He seems to have shared this dynamic with the Weissman siblings, [[spoiler:up until it all went up in flames. Literally.]]

!Ichigen Miwa
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ShowHayami (Japanese), Creator/GrantGeorge (English)

The former 7th King, the Colorless King. A father figure to Kuroh Yatogami, he asked him to find and slay the next Colourless King if he was revealed to be evil.
* TheConscience: A posthumous example. His calm and benevolent approach tempered Kuroh's high-handed HonorBeforeReason-ific tendencies.
* CoolOldGuy: Kuroh's flashbacks always give him an aura of wisdom along with serenity.
* TheHermit: Ichigen Miwa lived a secluded life along with Kuroh in the mountains. Only a few villagers are shown to know him.
* HermitGuru: Though he was young, he was a veritable fount of wisdom--enough that Kuroh preserved his wisdom for posterity.
* NiceGuy: It's evident even after his death that he was a wise and gentle man.
* NiceHat
* TheObiWan: An old, wise seer who taught Kuroh and the whole reason the latter came into the plot.
* ParentalSubstitute: He was a father figure to Kuroh.
* ThePhilosopher: His adages have remained relevant long after his death, during the series, and have given Kuroh guidance and pulled him from the brink of unjust murder more than once.
* PosthumousCharacter: He's dead by the beginning of both the anime and the manga, but Kuroh never misses a chance to impart us with his wisdom.
* {{Seer}}: His vision of the future caused him to tell Kuroh to kill the next Colorless King without mercy if he proved himself to be evil.
* StudentAndMasterTeam: Apparently with Kuroh in the past, as seen in a flashback.

[[folder:Ashinaka High]]
!Kukuri Yukizome
-> ''"Is anyone free right now? We need someone to run an errand for the student council!"''
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/SatomiSato (Japanese), Creator/CarrieSavage (English)

Yashiro's energetic, kindly classmate, and a member of the student council.
* ACupAngst: In a drama cd where the girls are at an onsen, she asks Seri how she can develop breasts like hers.
* TheDitz: Seriously--she is ''very'' oblivious.
* FanServicePack: Her boobs got an upgrade in the movie.
* FloralThemeNaming: Her name, "Kukuri", consists of the character "Chrysanthemum".
* HairDecorations
* GrandTheftMe: [[spoiler:She gets her body taken by "the Colorless King" in episode 11. Complete with a twisted SlasherSmile.]]
* LuminescentBlush: When Mishina confessed to her in front of the whole school, and henceforth whenever somebody mentions his name or when that event is mentioned.
* {{Muggle}}: For all the shenaningans she gets dragged in, Kukuri lacks any supernatural powers or connection to people who have them.
* NiceGirl: She is nice, helpful and friendly to everyone.
* WistfulAmnesia: [[spoiler:After Shiro's HeroicSacrifice, Kukuri, even though she can't remember him, can clearly feel someone is missing.]]
* ZettaiRyouiki

!Souta Mishina
-> ''"Wait, you haven't told Miss Yukizome about the naughty picture I showed you last week, right?"''
-->'''Voiced by:''' Kazuki Shimizu (Japanese) Creator/GrantGeorge (English)

Yashiro's friend and classmate, a typical teenage boy who has a crush on Kukuri.
* DoggedNiceGuy: Kukuri is too embarassed to reciprocate his crush, especially since his confession is very...''over the top''.
* GrandRomanticGesture: He announced his love for Kukuri from the top of a clock tower near the school in front of all of the other students, and then finished it off with a bunch of fireworks.
* LargeHam
* LuminescentBlush: When he confessed to Kukuri.
* OcularGushers: When Kukuri rejected his confession.

!Sakura Asama
-> ''"Thanks to the President's interference, everything was kept under control. If she hadn't come in the nick of time, who knows what would've happened?"''
--> '''Voiced by:''' Nozomi Yamamoto (Japanese), Creator/ColleenOShaughnessey (English)

The vice-president of the student council.
* AbsurdlyPowerfulStudentCouncil: She is the vice-president, and apparently has enough authorization to have free access to the entire student database and confidential records. This makes is easy later on for [[spoiler:Saruhiko to just break in, knock her out, and gain that access for himself to search for Yashiro]].
* IgnoredEnamoredUnderling: She's incredibly fond of Chiho and always sings her praises but she doesn't seem to care or notice at all. Even Shiro's weirded out by her constant praise of her.
* InstantSedation: She was knocked out by [[spoiler:Saruhiko Fushimi]] in Episode 5 with a chloroform-soaked rag in the latter's attempt to gain access to confidential school records.
* YesMan: To Chiho.

!Chiho Hyuuga
-> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/MaayaUchida (Japanese), Creator/ErinFitzgerald (English)

The president of the student council.
* AbsurdlyPowerfulStudentCouncil: She could easily authorize the usage of a ''hedge trimmer'' to break down the school clock tower door just to apprehend Mishina and prevent him from using all of the festival fireworks.
* {{Meganekko}}
* TheStoic
* StoicSpectacles
* StudentCouncilPresident
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Has green hair.

!Claudia Weismann
-> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/AyaEndo (Japanese), Creator/ColleenOShaughnessey (English)

The sister of Adolf K. Weismann, who died in the WWII bombing of Dresden.
* PosthumousCharacter: She died long before the start of the series during a WWII bombing.
* SacrificialLamb: Plot-wise, she exists to die and [[CynicismCatalyst prompt her brother's retreat from the world]].

!Niki Fushimi
--> ''"Hahahahaha! My little monkey got angry, he got angry!"''

Fushimi Saruhiko's father, a genius who lends his talents to no one and loves pulling "pranks" on his son.
* AbusiveDad: It's subtly implied in Lost Small World that Niki would have tried to burn Misaki with fire for being Saruhiko's friend if the feverish Saruhiko hadn't run out of his room and pushed Misaki out the door, and even if he hadn't...just threatening in a "jokey" way to hurt the one friend Saruhiko has (likely due to him) hits the nail. A key point in LSW starts with Saruhiko--seemingly, at least--derisively comparing HOMRA to an ant farm... Only for the reader to later find out that when he was a child, there was a science project he'd painstakingly been taking care of--an ant farm, within which he thought "there was surely some kind of system that only those who belong to it know about," calling that "absolutely beautiful." It's revealed eventually that his father set cockroaches upon it then drowned it in gasoline, and the traumatized young Saruhiko came home to it and his laughter, and blamed himself for it. It's part of the reason Misaki wants Saruhiko to move in with him together two years later at fourteen--to get him away from his home situation. Niki continues to haunt him even after that, not long after they join HOMRA.
* BlackSheep: Despite Saruhiko and Aya's extended family sounding corrupt on their own, it turns out they keep a distance from him and nobody seems to care that it's his funeral they've gathered for when it happens.
* ObliviouslyEvil: Assumes in his head that Saruhiko doesn't care about how he acts towards him, as evidenced when a little Aya calls him out on having "destroyed things that are important to Saruhiko."
* PosthumousCharacter: Died when Saruhiko was a teenager. He never went to visit his father in the hospital.
* PsychopathicManchild: His mentality seems quite childish and he frightens both Saruhiko and Aya due to his lack of moral compass and regard for others.
* {{Troll}}: Deliberately does anything to rile up his son, who is terrified of him, ranging from setting his first-grade project on fire (which Saruhiko had considered his 'little world' back then) to threatening to light firecrackers on Misaki's head when he visited to take care of Saruhiko when he was sick.
* UnwantedSpouse: Saruhiko was probably only reason why he got married.

!Maria Yubikiri
--> ''"Of course. I promised, didn't I?"''

A character from the side-manga ''Memory of Red'', who features in Chitose's arc.
* BerserkButton: Breaking promises with her is life-threatening.
* CuteAndPsycho
* DarkActionGirl
* DrowningMySorrows: When she first meets Chitose.
* FemmeFatalons
* IAmAMonster: How she feels about her powers, especially since it was the reason why her boyfriend left her.
* MindOverMatter: Her powers as a Strain is highly implied to be something akin to telekinesis.
* NeverGotToSayGoodbye: Her boyfriend dumped her and then ran off without even saying anything to her after finding out about her ability. To get over it, she asked Chitose to substitute for him by saying "Goodbye" to her the morning after spending the night.
* OneShotCharacter: Only appears in the third chapter of ''K - Memory of Red'' as a character of the day.
* PinkySwear: The reason why she kills people is because they [[DisproportionateRetribution break pinky promises with her]].
* RapunzelHair
* RavenHairIvorySkin
* StalkerWithoutACrush: To Chitose.
* TranquilFury: She calmly shreds apart a baseball that was heading right towards her after finding Chitose again and destroys the surrounding environment while attacking him.
* WomanInBlack
* WomanScorned: The reason why she's out for Chitose's blood.
* YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry
* ZettaiRyouiki

!Basashi/White Bean Paste Stewed Tofu
A horse Strain that appears in the prequel manga, ''K - Memory of Red''. Anna befriended it after it ran away from SCEPTER 4's custody out of a desire to see its former owner get married at her wedding. It is capable of changing its form into a pegasus, but can't actually fly.
* AnimalReactionShot: It has some pretty funny reactions to its hilariously awful names.
* CoolHorse: Not just any ordinary horse, but a Strain that can change its form at will and gain wings.
* EdibleThemeNaming: A {{running gag}} to its chagrin.
* [[ABoyAndHisX A Girl and Her Horse]]: With Anna in the two chapters it features in.
* HorsingAround: It kicks at least two people in the face when they try to stop it from running off with Anna on its back.
* IntellectualAnimal: It understands human speech but cannot speak itself.
* InterspeciesRomance: It clearly blushes at Seri when she smiles at it, and asks what its name is.
* MeaningfulRename: Played for laughs when Seri decides to rename it into something far worse than "Basashi".
* OneShotCharacter: Only appears in the sixth and seventh chapters as a character of the day.
* OverlyLongName: Seri renames it "White Bean Paste Stewed Tofu", which is obviously quite a mouthful to say.
* {{Pegasus}}: It can make itself look like one, but it can't actually fly aside from flapping its wings and performing huge jumps.
* TheSpeechless: Justified as it's a horse.
* UnfortunateName: Twice! Mikoto literally names it "horse meat sashimi" when he was feeling hungry from looking at it. Later on, Seri later renames it into something far worse: White Bean Paste Stewed Tofu.

[[folder:Spoiler Characters: '''Spoilers are unmarked, you're advised to have finished the series''']]
!Colorless King
-> ''"I am the seventh king, the Colorless King! I'm waiting for someone here. A nice night, you say? Indeed it is."''

The current self-proclaimed Colorless King. A mysterious man who was caught killing Tatara Totsuka in cold blood in a video clip where he looks exactly like Shiro. He remains a mystery through the series.
* AllYourPowersCombined: He was planning to obtain all of the seven Kings' powers by eating them one by one.
* TheAssimilator: He has absorbed the identities of many people in the past whose bodies he took over. In the process, however, he lost his own sense of self.
* AxCrazy: He guns down Tatara for no apparent reason after meeting him on the rooftop of a building one night, and later stabs people with shards of glass while grinning madly.
* BattleInTheCenterOfTheMind: As soon as Mikoto opens his eyes in his presence, he manages to slip into the Red King's mind and tries to take over from there by consuming the fire that Mikoto's mindscape is filled up with. However, the moment he sees [[PsychicBlockDefense a lion emerging from the flames]], he screams and promptly flees. He also tries to do this to Shiro in Episode 11 but loses the battle of wills and is forced to leave.
* BigBad: Responsible for escalating the conflict between the clans into a war and Shiro's involvement.
* BodySnatcher: His powers let him do this with anyone who meets his eyes and has an emotional weakness he can exploit, starting with Shiro's original body when he was just a normal student at high school. His end goal was to possess the bodies of all of the Kings, starting with the Silver King but moving on to the others when he failed to take over Adolf's mind or soul.
* BodySurf: In Episode 9 he is shown possessing the body of a male student at the school when he phones Mikoto in prison, and even tries to do it to Mikoto as well but fails miserably. Episode 11 reveals he's possessed the bodies of quite a few people so far including Shiro, Adolf K. Weismann, Kukuri and other passersby from both HOMRA and SCEPTER 4.
* CardCarryingVillain: When he smugly calls Mikoto to tell him he was the one who killed Tatara, and then provokes him further by claiming he'll hurt his other clansmen next.
* CannibalismSuperpower: He can consume the powers of another King if he can successfully take over their body.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: The video clip where he hums Ode to Joy while jerking his body from side to side, starts laughing and then turns around to shoot Tatara without warning.
* EvilLaugh: Oh yeah. His laughter in Episode 12 in particular gives [[Manga/{{Bleach}} Hollow Ichigo]] a run for his money.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Anyone he possesses speaks with a deeper tone than usual, including Shiro and Kukuri.
* FightingFromTheInside: While he was in possession of Kukuri's body, she sometimes managed to regain control and weakly cry out for help, though not for long. The Colorless King later does this himself in the final episode after Shiro traps him inside his soul before going to meet Mikoto.
* FightsLikeANormal: Unlike the Red and Blue Kings, the Colorless King's powers are limited to taking over other people's bodies so he has to rely on using guns, bombs, and other weapons for offensive purposes.
* FreakyFridayFlip: His possession of the Silver King's body caused him to switch bodies with the other King the first time he did it instead of merely taking it over due to the way their powers clashed, after which he kicked Shiro (who is now possessed by Adolf K. Weismann) off the airship in an attempt to kill him.
* GrandTheftMe: Was gunning for the Silver King's body to obtain the First King's powers. For that reason he tried to possess the Silver King on the night when he shot Tatara but due to the Silver King taking over Shiro's body in the process when their powers clashed, the Colorless King makes another attempt in Episode 11 when they meet again.
* TheHeavy: He's the only clear-cut and unsympathetic villain in the show, and his actions have definitely been driving the plot from killing Tatara, to trying to take over Adolf Weismann only to end up exchanging bodies in the process, then creating further conflict between the Red and Blue clans in the final arc of the anime by drawing the Red King to the school.
* HiddenVillain: Since the first arc of the anime made it unclear as to whether or not Shiro was the one who actually committed the crime since he was suffering from amnesia, while Episode 7 and 8 later seem to suggest Adolf Weismann might be the true villain all along. However, Episode 9 finally makes it clear that neither of them were responsible (and they are, in fact, the same person); there was another party involved who was using his body-snatching powers to control them at different times.
* HijackingCthulhu: The Colorless King tries to hijack the Silver King, who is effectively immortal. It backfires.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: His third attempt to take over Shiro's body in the last episode is what leads to his downfall after he ends up getting trapped inside the Silver King's soul and then gets taken to meet Mikoto, who greets him by ramming a hand right through his chest and killing him.
* JapanesePronouns: He uses ''ore'' in the video clip, but uses ''oira'' while talking to Mikoto in prison. In the final episode, his multiple identities cause him to use ''boku'' and ''ore-sama'' as well, showing how dissociated he has become by that point.
* {{Kitsune}}: In Episode 9, he's shown wearing a fox mask while possessing the body of a student. The white spirit that talks to Mikoto from the magical red phone also takes on the face of a fox as it later does in Episode 11 as well.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[http://kirroro.tumblr.com/post/38437421685/k-ost-vol-2-track-06-adolf-k-weismann-adolfs Adolf K. Weismann]], a rather dramatically sinister song. This song was played for all the scenes when he is in Adolf's body.
* LossOfIdentity: Shiro regards that he has switched bodies so many times he cannot even tell which is his original personality.
* MadBomber: Is quite fond of using explosives, which he uses to blow up Adolf K. Weismann's Zeppelin while possessing the King's body. He also uses timed bombs, which he plants all over the place in Ashinaka High School in Episode 11.
* MalevolentMaskedMan: In Episode 9, he wears a fox mask while gleefully telling Mikoto he killed Tatara and is willing to kill more of his clansmen.
* MindHive: He's definitely more than one person in a single body, with the implication being that all the other voices are his previous victims.
* MoodSwinger
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: In Episode 11, his attempts to break Shiro's mind and make him run away into nothingness end up making his memories resurface.
* NoEyeInMagic: Eye contact is his modus operandi for body takeover. He even has to provoke Mikoto into opening his eyes before he can steal inside his mind in Episode 9.
* NoNameGiven: He is only identified as "The Colorless King". Given the number of bodies and personalities he has consumed, it is dubious whether he even remembers his own name.
* ObviouslyEvil: Gloating, EvilLaugh while he shoots a random unarmed person in cold blood? No, he couldn't possible be evil.
* PowerParasite: His goal was to possess the other six Kings' powers and become the single, most powerful King left standing. Interestingly, he has never once shown to have been successful in gaining any powers with this method. Given how powerful the other Kings' mental defenses are by default, it's unclear whether or not his plan is even feasible. Given his state at the end of the anime, it's possible that he's just completely delusional.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: The fox spirit's eyes are red and he's clearly villainous.
* SlasherSmile: Whenever he possesses someone, their smiles turn downright twisted.
* SmugSnake: He attempts to piss off Mikoto enough to open his eyes in order to possess him, but he bites off more than he can chew when he realizes Mikoto won't give up easily without a fight and ends up hightailing it out of there.
* TalkingToThemself: When he possesses Kukuri, the personalities of his previous victims manifest and begin talking to one another.
* VillainousBreakdown: He sure seems to be suffering from this in Episode 12 after Shiro/Weismann gets the students out of the school and there are no ignorant innocents for him to possess.
* WalkingSpoiler: A '''major''' one. Just knowing that he's a separate character from Shiro or that he has body-snatching abilities would instantly spoil the entire murder mystery plot, as well as kill any suspense in the first eight episodes.
* WildCard
* WouldHurtAChild: He threatens to rape Anna in order to get a reaction out of Mikoto at one point during their conversation in Episode 9, and in Episode 11 he snipes at her from afar while possessing a SCEPTER 4 member.
