    Steven Freeman

Steven Freeman

Played by: John D Le May

  • Expy: Of Tommy Jarvis. Which is likely why he's killed off so quickly in the Nightmare Warriors comic, since it happens shortly before Tommy makes his return.
  • The Glasses Come Off: He lose his glasses through the course of the movie, which happens right around the time he takes a notable level in badass.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: The police mistakenly believe he's Diana Kimble's killer.
  • Made of Iron: Dude sustains blows from Jason in his true form, who is strong enough decapitate a grown man with a punch, yet Steven comes out no worse for wear.
  • Papa Wolf: Goes through hell and back to protect his ex and his daughter from Jason.

    Jessica Kimble

Jessica Kimble

Played by: Kari Keegan

  • Decoy Protagonist: Zigzagged. While she's the Final Girl of the film and is the one to deliver the killing blow to Jason, Steven is arguably the true hero of the film, as most of the film is centered around him protecting both her and their daughter from Jason. And while she does deliver the killing blow, Steven winds up being the one to deliver the final blow to Jason immediately after, as even after being mortally wounded Jason still tries to go after them one last time.
  • Final Girl: Of Jason Goes to Hell.
  • Remember the New Guy?: She's Jason's niece, despite previous installments never even hinting that Jason had any other family beyond Pamela. Given it's not stated what her mother's exact blood tie with Jason is, Fanon is that Diana is Jason's half-sister, with both only sharing Elias as a father.

    Creighton Duke

Don't ask him to test your fortitude.

Duke is a bounty hunter who specializes in capturing serial killers. He has a bone to pick with Jason, and knows more about his origins than he is willing to reveal.

Played by: Steven Williams

  • Deadpan Snarker:
Robert: I'm going to say a couple of words to you and I want you to say the first thing that comes into your mind.
    Duke: Okay.
    Robert: Jason Voorhees.
Duke: That makes me think of a little girl in a pink dress sticking a hot dog through a doughnut.
  • Decoy Protagonist: Gets incapacitated by Jason despite spending a good bulk of the film with Steven trying to defeat him.
  • Good Counterpart: He is to Jason what Dr. Loomis was to Michael, having a lot of knowledge about him, wanting to bring him to justice, and filling a similar role in the story.
  • Hero of Another Story: Had been hunting Jason before crossing paths with Steven.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He uses handcuffs to tie himself and Jason together to buy Steven and Jessica some time, and gets his back snapped in turn.
  • Hunter of Monsters: He specializes in hunting serial killers, including ones with supernatural powers like Jason.
  • Not Quite Dead: However, Adam Marcus confirmed that he was actually still alive after the movie.
  • It's Personal: While in the film it is not specified why exactly he is so prone to defeat Jason ("Son of a bitch, you remember me?" is all the audience gets), the script reveals that his girlfriend was murdered by him.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Seemingly dies fighting Jason.
  • Serial-Killer Killer: He's actually a serial killer bounty hunter, with a special interest in Jason.
  • The World's Expert (on Getting Killed): Duke knows a lot about Jason, but still ends up as one of his victims.

    Joey B.

A foulmouthed woman who runs a Greasy Spoon diner in Crystal Lake alongside her husband Shelby and their son Ward. She later makes a misguided attempt to protect Stephanie Kimble after Steven escapes from police custody.

Played by: Rusty Schwimmer

  • Adaptational Badass: In the movie she vainly beats against Jason's shoulder with her bare hand as he's murdering Shelby. In the comic book adaption, Joey repeatedly stabs Jason with a kitchen knife. It has the same effect, but at least a knife was a sensible weapon to use.
  • Asshole Victim: Defied, she's surly, cheap, somewhat violent and incredibly foul-mouthed, but dies in a valiant attempt to stop Jason from trying to get to Stephanie and tried to save Shelby who dies anyway.
  • Badass Bystander: She and her staff are a gun-toting Badass Crew who attempted to fight Jason to the last man.
  • Child Hater: Appears to be one when Vickie brings Stephanie to the diner to look after her, yelling "This is a business, not a fucking nursery!" She immediately changes her mind when she learns Stephen broke out of jail and offers the baby shelter.
  • Genre Refugee: Joey and Shelby both stand out as rather odd characters to include in a Jason Voorhees movie, even for Jason Goes To Hell. They look and act like they wandered in from a John Waters picture.
  • Happily Married: She might argue and curse at Shelby, but she's deeply in love with her "Pookie" and isn't afraid to show it. She even dies trying to save him from Jason.
  • Hidden Depths: At first glance she's a rude and cheap woman who can't stop cursing and hopes to take advantage of Jason's death to boost sales at her diner. Then it turns out she has a massive protective side when she chooses to shelter Stephanie Kimble in case her murder-suspect dad comes looking for her, out of a well-meaning but misguided attachment to Stephanie and Stephanie's late grandmother. She then dies in a vain effort to stop Jason from killing her husband.
  • Jawbreaker: While trying to save her husband from Jason, he breaks her jaw with his elbow. That is, he elbowed her in the face so hard it sent her lower jaw into her head.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's surly, cheap, somewhat violent and incredibly foul-mouthed, but she's also totally devoted to her husband and super protective of both him and baby Stephanie Kimble.
  • Large Ham: She is basically Chewing the Scenery in her screen time as a surly and foul-mouthed diner manager. It takes getting her jaw broken into her head to stop her said scenery-chewing.
  • Mama Bear: Towards baby Stephanie. At first, Joey refused to let Vickie watch Stephanie at the diner until she found out Steven broke out of jail with a loaded gun. When Steven and Jessica return to get Stephanie, Joey pulls a gun on them and refuses to let them near Stephanie. This is on the grounds that Steven is the most likely suspect in Diane's death, and Jessica's aiding him.
Joey B.: Nobody's gonna touch that fucking ray of sunshine!
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: With her husband Shelby, who's more affectionate towards the baby than Joey.
  • Mean Boss: She's not the easiest person to work for and tends to get into arguments with Vickie, though Joey does claim she cared about Diane Kimble.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: Her son, Ward, was the first to be killed by Jason when he left the diner to go get help. Ward died fighting as he tried to use his free arm to fight Jason but the latter broke his arm and threw him against the door, either knocking him unconscious or killing him from a combination of blunt-force trauma and blood loss.
  • Police Are Useless: She tries to avert this when she tells her husband to call the police station when Jessica and Stephen arrive at the diner, rather than just open fire on them. Unfortunately, Jason's already killed near all of the cops.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Dies fighting Jason in a vain attempt to save Shelby.
  • Sickeningly Sweethearts: Isn't afraid to get mushy with Shelby out in public, much to Ward's disgust.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Holds Stephen and Jessica at gunpoint out of fear of what they might do to Stephanie.
