Moonshimmer
The main character of the story who strongly believes in
The Power of Love.
- The Chosen One: StarClan outright tells her this.
"Moonpaw! You are the chosen one!"
- Birthmark of Destiny: The black crescent moon on her forehead.
- Forced into Evil: Briefly when Darkpaw threatens to kill her kits if she doesn't help him take over the clans.
- Good Girls Avoid Abortion: She refuses to abort her's and Chocolaterain's kits, even though he is her son.
- Healing Hands: She can heal and bring cats back to life, even if they are nothing but bones.
- Heroic BSoD: She suffers from these frequently. The most notable one occurs after she watches Gaypaw get raped. Others include after Phantom kidnaps Chocolatekit and after Chocolaterain tells her about Gaysparkle torturing Sunsetshine's kits.
Lilyblossom/Darkpaw/Deathstar
Moonshimmer's
Obviously Evil brother who is the main villain of the story.
- Berserk Button: Do not call him small or give any indication that you think he might lose a fight.
- Card-Carrying Villain: Is there ever a time when he's not mentioning his evilness?
- "I am who I am, and I am evil!"
- "I am the most evil, terrible, ruthless cat in the whole forest!"
- "I can if I want. Cause I'm evil."
- Devil in Plain Sight: In the prologue.
"You'll never be a good warrior, but I will be, and some day I will rule the forest with an iron paw and every one will bow to my every whim and will, and you will all be my slaves!" Lilypaw hissed loudly, but no one seemed to hear him or care about what he was saying. They were all oblivious to the impending threat!
- Demonic Possession: It is reavealed in Chapter 21 that he is being possessed by Sin.
- Embarrassing First Name: Vanillastar adds the 'blossom' suffix to his name specifically to cause this.
- Enfante Terrible: Kills Lavenderstar shortly after being born.
- Healing Factor: The tip of his tail grows back after Moonpaw bites it off.
- I'm a Humanitarian: Well, applied to cats instead of humans. He eats other cats and thinks they taste much better than fresh-kill.
- Vampiric Draining: He gets his power from drinking other cats' blood.
- Why Won't You Die?: A while after he tears Moonpaw's neck open, she awakens with a necklace around her neck.
"Moonpaw! How are you alive? And what is that collar?"
- Would Hurt a Child: Attempts to kill Tranquildream's kits multiple times.
Tranquildream
Moonshimmer's medicine cat sister. She is the more calm and level-headed of the two.
- Love Makes You Evil: Briefly in Chapter 19 when she decides it doesn't matter if her loved one is really a cat from the Dark Forest. When Moonshimmer indicates that she will still try to kill Demonica, Tranquildream attacks her.
- Star-Crossed Lovers: With Screepaw for a few minutes (until Moonpaw blackmails Vanillastar into letting them stay together).
- Teen Pregnancy: Had a litter of kits when she was still an apprentice.
Gaysparkle
The medicine cat apprentice from DiamondClan who is a friend of Moonshimmer and Tranquildream. Later undergoes a
Face–Heel Turn and becomes Deathstar's mate and deputy of SapphireClan.
- Ax-Crazy: Becomes this in later chapters.
- Demonic Possession: It is revealed in Chapter 21 that he is being possessed by a Dark Forest cat.
- Green-Eyed Monster: He craves love from Deathstar and later wants to be the sole cat to rule the forest.
- If I Can't Have You…: He decides to kill Deathstar when he starts secretly meeting with both Ancient and Phantom.
- Love Hungry: He uses his powers to make others love him, and goes berserk if anyone wonders why they love him so much.
- Love Makes You Evil: Gaysparkle immediately accepts Lilyblossom's request to turn evil in order for them to be together.
- Meaningful Name: Refers to how his eyes sparkle when he is feeling gay.
- "For your information, I am just happy."
- Not Good with Rejection: After Gaysparkle sees Deathstar kissing Ancient, he has multiple emotional breakdowns until he goes completely Ax-Crazy and decides to kill Deathstar and rule the entire forest himself.
- Rage Against the Reflection: He has one of these in "The Day of the Orchids", when his reflection tells him to not use his powers for his own gain.
- Start of Darkness: The spin-off short story, "The Day of the Orchids" explains how he decided to use his powers for his own gain.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: He dumps Tranquildream for her evil brother, devastating her and leaving Awesomekit without a father. He then proceeds to try and do as many evil things as he can to impress Deathstar, including ripping off the legs of kits.
- Would Hurt a Child: Bites the legs off of Sunsetshine's kits, just For the Evulz.
- Yandere: Follows Deathstar pretty much everywhere, and will even kill for him.
Screepaw/Screech
An apprentice of SapphireClan who becomes Tranquildream's mate.
- Back from the Dead: In Chapter 20 he comes back 'bigger and better' with black stripes and bone claws, supposedly sent from StarClan.
- Forced into Evil: Darkpaw threatens to harm his mate and kits if he doesn't join him in taking over the clans.
- Glowing Eyes of Doom: After hearing that Tranquildream only likes she-cats. Tranquildream even lampshades this.
"You kind of look evil if you ask me! Your fur is all poofy and your eyes are
glowing red!"
- If I Can't Have You…: Tranquildream coldly rejects him while revealing that she doesn't like toms anymore. His response? Slice her throat open.
"Are you kidding me? All I ever did was love you more than anything else in the whole world even though our love was something that was forbidden! That is it Tranquildream... YOU ARE GOING DOWN!"

Vanillastar (Vanillasnow)
The leader of SapphireClan for part of the story. Thinks he is terrible leader and spends most of his time angsting about it.
- Meaningful Name: His warrior name refers to the song "Vanilla Snow", a parody of the song "Chocolate Rain".
- Survivor Guilt: "I never expected that my love would die so soon! I wish I had died first! I wish I could die now! Why me Moonpaw, why me! Why did I have to be the one to live?"
- The Charmer: He charms Moonshimmer to become his mate, right after she thinks Phantom has left her.
- Yandere: To Moonshimmer later on. He tries to kill his rogue brother Phantom because they both love her, even though Phantom has never actually met Moonshimmer.
Phantom (Phantomstar)
A rogue cat who Moonshimmer falls in love with. Is Vanillastar's brother.
- Back from the Dead: His alter ego Ancient makes Lilyblossom get Moonshimmer to bring him back to life. It is unknown how he died in the first place.
- Dimensional Traveler: It appears he is able to travel between the Dark Forest and the waking world at will.
- Healing Hands: He can heal cats by touching them, similar to Moonshimmer and Tranquildream.
- Mysterious Past: He was once the leader of DiamondClan until his clan turned against him. It's not said why his clan turned against him, why he was in DiamondClan while his brother was in SapphireClan, or how and why he was in contact with his brother afterwards.
- Not Good with Rejection: Moonshimmer goes off with Vanillastar after thinking Phantom has left her. In response to this, Phantom doesn't come in contact with her until her kits are born, and then kidnaps one of them. He then brainwashes the kit to hate his family, joins up with Lillyblossom, and tries to kill Moonshimmer.
- Stalker with a Crush: He watched Moonshimmer multiple times before he formally introduced himself to her.
- The Charmer: He charms Moonshimmer enough in one walk to make her love him by the end, without even telling her his name.
Ancient
A wise cat from the Dark Forest that helps Lilyblossom with his schemes.
- Dimensional Traveler: Like Phantom, he is able to travel between the Dark Forest and the waking world at will.
Sparklestar (Sparklefur)/Daydreamheart
The deputy of SapphireClan who later becomes leader. Is really Daydreamheart, mother of Moonshimmer, Tranquildream, and Lilyblossom.
- Faking the Dead: Daydreamheart fakes her death after giving birth, and comes back to the clan a week later as Sparklefur.
- Hyper-Competent Sidekick: She is the one who gets things done when Vanillastar is crying about being a bad leader.
- Luke I Am Your Mother: In Chapter 12 Ancient reveals her to be the mother of Moonshimmer, Tranquildream, and Lilyblossom.
- Number Two: To Vanillastar, until Moonshimmer takes over her job as deputy.
Jasminedung
A warrior of SapphireClan who everyone hates. She is named after one of the story's negative reviewers, 0-Jasmine-0.
- Back from the Dead: She comes back to life as a zombie a few chapters after she is killed, and comes back to life again twice after that.
- Came Back Wrong: Her zombie and zombie-zombie forms.
- Demonic Possession: She is revealed to be possessed by Demonica.
- Meaningful Rename: She renames herself Jasmine because she doesn't like the part of her name that makes her sound smelly.
- Sickly Green Glow: She in seen glowing in radioactive colors before she reveals to Moonshimmer that she is Demonica.
- Take That, Critics!: 0-Jasmine-0 does not take it well.
"Stop making references to me before I get really pissed off."
Chocolaterain
Moonshimmer's son and the only kit of Vanillastar. Is captured by Phantom not long after being born.
- Meaningful Name: Like his father, only he is named after the real song.
- Parental Incest: He becomes mates with Moonshimmer. She doesn't tell him he's her son though until after he gets her pregnant.
- Year Inside, Hour Outside: He grows up from a newborn kit to a young warrior in only a few weeks due to being in the Dark Forest.
Sunsetshine
A warrior of SapphireClan that can't seem to decide if they're male or female. Is the father of Moonshimmer, Tranquildream, and Lilyblossom.
- Dark Secret: That zombie-zombie-Jasminedung is the father of their kits.
- Gender Bender: Is female in the allegiances, but male in Chapter 1; goes back to being female in chapter 2. Is mentioned as being male again in Chapter 12, but later in the chapter gives birth to kits, with a female as the father. In Chapter 14 reveals themself to be Moonshimmer, Tranquildream, and Lillyblossom's father, but goes back to nursing kits in chapter 16. Bonus points in that they are mentioned as male in the first sentence of the chapter.
"He [frolicked] towards the nursery den where Sunsetshine was in there nursing his kits."
- Luke, I Am Your Father: Tells Moonshimmer that they are her father in Chapter 14.
- Unexplained Recovery: Is killed by Lilypaw in Chapter 2, but unlike other characters who are brought back to life with Moonshimmer's powers, is given no explanation for coming back.
Wish & Mystic (Wishpaw & Mysticalpaw)
Twin apprentices of SapphireClan who Tranquilpaw and Screepaw bring with them to join the League of Evil Darkness. They later gets powers from a magical stone.
- Fake Defector: That is, until they forget they are pretending to be evil and actually start to enjoy their job as henchmen.
- Identical Twin ID Tag: Wish's left ear is white, Mystic's right ear is white.
Peep
A dragon summoned by Mystic. He turns into dragon-mouse out of fear when he hears Lillyblossom's new name, Deathheart.
Sin
A demon cat of the Dark Forest; he features in the spin-off story Ruby Ghosts. He is responsible for Deathstar's evilness, as he has been possessing him since birth.
- Occult Blue Eyes: Besides being shadowy black and called a demon, his eyes are described as being blue "as the sky and the water and blue pebbles" on his introductions in both stories.
