The Counselors a.k.a. "The Victims".note
  • Action Girl: The women have all the same moves as the men in combat. Although they tend to have lower Strength scores, their other stats can make up the difference in combat situations. It should also be noted that while the axe and bat are the slowest, the girls can swing their weapons faster than the boys. Equip them with an epic or legendary "Swift Attacker" Perk and their odds of stunning Jason are much greater.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: When the counselors are close to death, they scream for help when nearby someone else or attempt to plead with Jason if alone.
  • Anyone Can Die: They're up against Implacable Man Jason Voorhees, so this is a given.
  • Ass Kicking Pose: Averted. When entering combat stance, they aren't in an expected badass pose, but are undeniably ready.
  • Attack! Attack... Retreat! Retreat!: Because Jason is a Mighty Glacier, that cannot be escaped for long, is effectively invincible for the round's beginning and any weapons Counselors aquire are breakable, they're all expected to adopt Hit-and-Run Tactics to survive.
  • Badass Bystander: They were just normal people living an average life until it was suddenly ripped away. It caused them to toughen up.
  • Blocking Stops All Damage: Averted. You take slightly more than half damage, but it still looks just as painful.
  • Breakable Weapons: In contrast to Jason's single weapon of choice, the Counselors can equip various melee weapons (and guns) found throughout the map to fight off the brute, but they're liable to break when used repeatedly; especially if the character you're playing has a poor Luck.
  • Combat Medic: All can heal their comrades providing they have a first-aid spray equipped; but counselors prioritize on healing themselves before others, which becomes Unwanted Assistance if you accidentally heal your minor cuts, while your buddy is critically injured.
  • Controllable Helplessness: Sustain critical injury and your character will start to scream in distress while limping along. You are screwed if you're alone and Jason's hot on your heels when this happens. Even if he decides to go for a grab-kill, and you're carrying a pocket knife. Stamina or no stamina, you cannot walk or run away from the killer.
  • Cop/Criminal Family: The "My Dad's A Cop" equippable perk implies one of them has a father in the New Jersey police force. If they're the one using the phone, the cops, instead of taking five minutes, will arrive much faster.
  • Cowardly Lion: Depending on how you play. There's nothing stopping a counselor who's been hiding or running from Jason the entire match from smacking him in the back of the head with a baseball bat when he's got one of their friends in a chokehold. It can go up to eleven for drivers if they deliberately stick around to pick up passengers despite being able to escape on their own (along with the fact that starting the car paints a massive target on your back as soon as Jason hears it).
  • Directionless Driver: They can't be in driver's seat and look at the large map, at the same time. Any counselor who decides to get behind the wheel better either have a good sense of direction when offroading, or assistance from the passengers.
  • Door Dumb: Barricading doors is your first (and sometimes last) line of defense against a prowling Jason outside. Leaving them open and unlocked, is an open invitation to get your friends and you killed. Counselor players shouldn't be messing with locking down doors either when Jason's in Rage, because he will smash through doors and walls in one hit regardless.
  • Dwindling Party: If the Jason player is too strong, or you and your friends are too disorganized, expect this to happen. Your options become severely limited, as killing Jason is off the table. You may have to go from trying to escape to running out the clock by hiding, or giving up.
  • Early Game Hell: Unless you've equipped them with certain perks, you start the match off virtually naked, and it's a mad dash to the nearest cabin to try and rummage for items that may not be there. And if the game spawns you in the cabin with the phone? A competent Jason player will waste no time coming straight for you, and you maybe powerless to fight or escape.
  • Expy: A lot of the counselors are inspired by characters from the movies. For example:
    • Jenny the Girl Next Door is Chris from Part 3.
    • Deborah the Bookish Girl is Maddy from Part 7. She also has elements of Eva from Part 8.
    • Brandon the Jock is Julius from Part 8.
    • Chad the Preppy Guy seems to be a fusion of Russell from Part 7 and Trent from the 2009 reboot.
    • Tiffany the Flirty Girl is Tina & Terri from Part 4.
    • A.J. the Rocker Chick is Violet from Part 5 and J.J. from Part 8.
    • Eric the Nerd is Shelly from Part 3 and Jimmy from Part 4. Played with, as Shelly is now a character in the game.
    • Kenny the Head Counselor is Bill from Part 1 with some elements of Paul from Part 2.
    • Mitch the Stoner is Chuck from Part 3.
    • Victoria the Catty Girl is Melissa from Part 7.
  • Flat Character: While they have individuality in their dialogue, for the most part they are flat. Averted with the Single Player Challenge Mode where the characters develop quite a bit more personality.
  • Face Your Fears: For whatever reason, eventually the player turns to fight Jason.
  • Fragile Speedster: Compared to Jason's Mighty Glacier status. In a straight chase, a sprinting counselor will easily outpace even Part 2, 3, or 4 Jasons (the only three Jasons that can run). However, counselors get tired after running for too long. Jason doesn't. If you don't lose him before then, he WILL catch up, and once he's in melee range, you're almost always screwed.
  • Gender-Restricted Ability: Only female counselors can wear the sweater to stun Jason.
  • I'm Not Afraid of You: The counselors manage to temporarily push away their mounting panic and confront Jason. Most of them say this to a varying degree.
  • Impossibly Cool Clothes: Not so much for the fact that their appearance is outstanding, but because they're nearly indestructible, as they never rip or tear. The blood that covers the clothing even disappears when you heal yourself.
  • Karmic Trickster: All are expected to adopt this approach if they want to survive Jason. Kiting and juking the killer whenever and wherever possible. They've got to put as much distance between them and the killer as possible. Jason's vulnerable to being stunned after opening doors, holding a counselor by the neck or missing a grab-kill. Of course, they'll have to mix their routines up or it can backfire.
  • Limited Wardrobe: While you can customize the color and designs of the outfits, they all maintain the same appearance or have roughly the same base.
  • The Load: As Video Game Caring Potential is in play, it's not mandatory for another counselor player to help the gang survive. It's not uncommon to see someone goof off, stand around, and contribute nothing to the match. If this player starts injuring themselves and/or attracting Jason's attention, ditch them and run.
  • Nervous Wreck: Having witnessed one of your friends get murdered in a gruesome fashion by Jason and he's now after you, you'd probably be 'on edge' too, but all of them can't stand being alone or in darkness even when nothing's happening. It crosses over into Idiot Ball territory where they'll freak out at the sight of a dead body, when Jason's chasing them.
  • No Help Is Coming: If they don't (or can't) call Tommy and/or the Police, they're on their own and need to use every trick in the book to survive.
  • Picture Day: Implied and Reconstructed. The concept art for the counselors all take place in the same setting and background, with each character posing. The overall vibe is just like a picture day. The counselors also don't seem worried or upset about their appearance, as the trope usually says the characters are.
  • Poor Communication Kills:
    • They're perfectly fine until they pick up the phone or start using the CB Radio, then they speak in frantic, high-strung voices. This applies to gameplay, too. Counselor teams that can quickly and coherently relay part locations and objective progress via walkie-talkies and offer recon on which areas are Jason-free at the moment tend to have much better odds of escaping.
    • If they forget to radio Tommy Jarvis for help straight-away, he'll show up to confront Jason late into the night when there's not much that can be done to save the remaining survivors.
  • Rummage Fail: As a counselor player unless you've equipped certain Perks you start off with nothing. To survive it's a mad scramble to the nearest cabin to rummage through the drawers to find items or weapons. If the cabin yields nothing but several walkie talkies and maps you already possess, you must flee to the next cabin. The longer you idle in one location the more likely Jason will eventually find you.
  • Sanity Meter: They all hate the darkness and being separated from each other. Counselors with a high composure (and fear resistance Perk) will take the longest to succumb. Eventually though, all of them give into their urge to panic. When they do, it can be a death sentence for the player as it screws the screen and mini-map up (unless you've equipped 'Preparedness'). Jason can easily find, and keep on finding a counselor wracked with fear. You will also incur stamina penalties for being afraid, until eventually you move so slow won't be able to get away.
  • Sprint Meter: They all have stamina meters and some are more athletic than others. The counselors need to be careful though, as tempting as it is to run to an objective, all of them (except for A.J.) running attracts Jason's attention. Depleting the meter forces the player to rest or walk. They incur stamina penalties when frightened, and if that meter's emptied too often, the character is exhausted to where the meter will refill slowly. When Tired of Running if they successfully knockdown Jason or break free of his grasp they'll get a small stamina boost.
  • Stealth Expert: Counselors with a high Stealth stat will naturally be this, and considering it's a lot harder to lose Jason when he's actively chasing you than it is to simply not get found by him in the first place, you'd do well to be one regardless of who you're playing.
  • Super Window Jump: The counselors can escape Jason by leaping through a window. However, doing so rather than just opening the window and climbing out or jumping through an open or broken window should be reserved for a last resort, as you can get hurt doing so.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: Every counselor player needs to work together as a team. No one is strong enough to survive alone against Jason for very long. If the lobby are recklessly facing down the killer, or running off with key items away from their objectives - you're boned.
  • Surrounded by Smart People: If the lobby's all experienced and groups up together quickly at the match's beginning, they can easily overpower Jason, sometimes leading to a Everybody Lives ending.
  • Team Killer:
  • Trap Master: Every single one of them, regardless of skill, is easily able to pick up and set down bear traps. Unlike Jason, a Counselor may place them anywhere. The downside to this is, it doesn't show up on the map. You or a friend could absentmindedly step into and get ensnared by what was intended for Jason.

Counselors:

    Adam Palomino

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/adam_05.png
Voiced by: Robbie Daymond

The Edgy Guy. He is one of A.J.'s boyfriends but has also dated Tiffany.

Stats:

  • Composure: 7/10
  • Luck: 2/10
  • Repair: 6/10
  • Speed: 5/10
  • Stamina: 4/10
  • Stealth: 3/10
  • Strength: 8/10

Unlock Level: 14

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: His hair is black in the concept art, but is a light brown in the game.
  • Born Unlucky: Has very poor Luck Stat, so weapons are liable to break when he needs them most, and extreme caution should be used when trying to start (or restart) the car or boat playing as Adam.
  • Genius Bruiser: A slight example, as he is said to be a wiz when it comes to fixing vehicles and is also considerably stronger than most counselors. Though his Repair stat is not as great as the likes of Deborah and Eric, he is still reasonably better at repairs than most other counselors.
  • Hell-Bent for Leather: He wears a black leather jacket.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Can be stabbed when having sex with AJ and Tiffany (separately).
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Can be seen on his concept art. Subverted in the actual game, as his hair is shorter.
  • Mighty Glacier/Glass Cannon: Is one of the stronger counselors of the game and is not as easily frightened by the sight of Jason, but has average Speed and below average Stamina.
  • Nerves of Steel: Has one of the highest Composure stats in the game, ranking second to best place with A.J. Mason.
  • Out with a Bang: Can die during the middle of sex twice.
  • Unrequited Love: On the official website for F13 game, his reveal picture's tagline shows that Adam is in love with A.J. Whether or not she returns his affection is unknown. They are shown together in the opening cutscene for Packanack Small and the Spring Break '84 DLC trailer, so it appears the feelings are mutual.
    • Subverted as A.J. is revealed to be involved with multiple people in the Single Player Challenge. She may be seeing Adam but they're not exclusive or break up.
    • Seems to be a break up as Adam ends up with Tiffany at one point.

    A.J. Mason
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aj_mason.png
Voiced by: Marisha Ray

The Rocker Chick. She's a tough as nails rocker, who doesn't take shit from anyone. Her high Composure stat makes her perfect for maintaining her cool when Jason shows up and starts murdering counselors. She's able to slink around, hiding to survive, with a high Stealth stat as well.

Stats:

  • Composure: 7/10
  • Luck: 1/10
  • Repair: 7/10
  • Speed: 4/10
  • Stamina: 4/10
  • Stealth: 10/10
  • Strength: 2/10

Unlock Level: 4

  • Ambiguously Christian: She never mentions being religious, but upon inspection she is wearing a cross and doesn't say "Oh God" as much as the other characters.
  • Born Unlucky: Has the lowest Luck stat out of all counselors, which means that the chances of A.J.'s weapon breaking is much higher than usual, making direct combat with Jason a big risk. Due to her low Strength it's far safer to use firecrackers, flareguns or the rifle anyway.
  • Dye Hard: In-Universe. She has purple streaks dyed into her hair.
  • Dude Magnet: A.J. essentially has her own male Harem, involved at various points with Mitch, Kenny, Adam, and Chad according to Challenge Mode.
  • Ethical Slut: While Negative Continuity may apply, in the Challenge Mode she's involved with much of the main cast at various points including Mitch, Kenny, Adam, and Chad.
  • Fun T-Shirt: In the final game, A.J. wears a black sleeveless shirt with the words "Crazy Lixx" written on it. See Shout-Out.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Can die horribly at Jason's hands during sex in an homage to the second Friday movie.
  • Irony: For someone who appears to be a tough-as-nails rocker girl, A.J. has a very low Strength statistic, which is also emphasized with her terrible Luck Statistic. Combat is definitely not her forte.
    • Hilariously enough, in spite of having the worst luck out of all Counselors, A.J. found herself in a relationship with a few Counselors herself.
  • I Work Alone: Her high Composure and Repair, and excellent Stealth stats allows A.J. to work on escape objectives on her own if the player is feeling confident while Jason is preoccupied with other Counselors. If she is found by Jason when alone, however, she's good as dead unless she finds help from other counselors quickly or arm herself with a weapon.
  • Out with a Bang: Can be Impaled with Extreme Prejudice during sex with Adam during the 5th Challenge.
  • Perky Goth: More like a Perky Punk given her pleasant attitude from all interactions so far.
  • Really Gets Around: The amount of boyfriends she has is pretty much a Running Gag at this point.
  • Riot Grrrl: Based on the one from Part 5.
  • Stealth Expert: Has maxed out Stealth stats, making it her main gameplay plan to hide from Jason at all times. Due to a bug, A.J. is also the only maximum Stealth Counselor that can sprint silently if she is equipped with at least a 10% positive Lightfoot perk, as Tiffany and Tommy are unable to do so in spite of also having a 10/10 in Stealth.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Being a punk rocker, she's definitely a tomboy, but she's also the only female counselor to wear a skirt, jewelry, and wears considerably more makeup than the other girls.
  • Weak, but Skilled: A.J has low Speed, Stamina and Strength, but has the third highest Repair stat out of all playable characters so far, making her highly competent for fixing things. She also boasts the highest Stealth (along with Tiffany Cox), which is complemented by her high Composure, making it a nightmare for Jason to detect her if A.J. spends the entire campaign hiding from him, especially if she is equipped with Sense avoidance and Lightfoot perks.

    Brandon "Buggzy" Wilson
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brandon_3.png
Voiced by: Zeno Robinson

The Jock. Buggzy was designed around the common 80's movie stereotype that black males were physically strong but not as smart.

Stats:

  • Composure: 4/10
  • Luck: 2/10
  • Repair: 1/10
  • Speed: 8/10
  • Stamina: 8/10
  • Stealth: 2/10
  • Strength: 10/10

Unlock Level: 8

  • Badass Normal: Used correctly and given the right Perks such as 'Thick-skinned' and 'Sucker Punch', he can give Jason the runaround as much as Vanessa.
  • Black Dude Dies First: It depends entirely on the player, but Buggzy was certainly designed with this in mind. His high strength, speed and stamina makes his players feel compelled to take on Jason, but his abysmal luck makes any weapon he holds compelled to break.
  • Blatant Lies: How he got confined to a wheelchair changes with every replay of Part 5's Challenge Mode. Trampoline accident, surfing, and heroic badassery are all cited. Given his Obfuscating Disability, it's very probable he isn't even disabled but has something minor like a sprained ankle.
  • Born Unlucky: One strategy to never forget when playing as Buggzy is to always change your weapon. Because of his awful Luck Stat after about three hits that connect any melee weapon he's using on Jason is liable to break. And if the car's broken down and Jason's prowling nearby? You can forget it.
  • Handicapped Badass: Claims to be one of these in the 5th Challenge. May not be the case.
  • Hidden Depths: He certainly looks like your typical Jerk Jock character, but the Summer ‘84 DLC pack has him wearing a lifeguard outfit, implying he was at least a good enough person to want to learn how to save people from drowning.
  • Irony: Of course, this makes his death ironic if Jason kills him by drowning him in the lake.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Physically the strongest Counselor in the game, and is also blessed with high Speed and Stamina, making him very effective at hit-and-run tactics.
  • Obfuscating Disability: Possibly. Is seen standing up in his wheelchair and stretching his legs in Challenge Mode.
  • One Last Smoke: Can be murdered by Jason while smoking during the Challenge mode.
  • Sex Signals Death: Is killed in the 5th challenge when he's about to get laid with Deborah.
  • Token Minority: The only black male.
  • Undignified Death: Can be murdered by Jason when he's peeing during the Challenge mode.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Fits this trope much like Vanessa does, as he has very low intelligence for his Repair stat (tied with Tiffany for the lowest) but has the highest strength stat among all counselors, as well as great speed and stamina, making him ideal for those wishing to play a character better suited for attacking Jason. Brandon is also the Counselor who is the most likely to take Jason's mask off with a few well placed melee swings, which is one of the major steps the player must take to kill Jason.
  • Walking Techbane: He's terrible at repairing anything. Drop off parts near vehicles to help other counselor players but do not waste your time trying to tinker with anything. You will only fail every action prompt alerting Jason.

    Chad Kensington
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chad_kensington.png
Voiced by: Benjamin Diskin

The Preppy Guy. Chad is a rich Jerkass who is more concerned about his own survival than the safety of his fellows.

Stats:

  • Composure: 1/10
  • Luck: 10/10
  • Repair: 2/10
  • Speed: 9/10
  • Stamina: 4/10
  • Stealth: 6/10
  • Strength: 3/10

Unlock Level: 1

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Given that he's based on Trent, Chad here can be more redeemable and likable than the remake's Hate Sink, especially in Challenge mode.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: Implied with his Halloween costume DLC (either he knows Karate (although against Jason, yeah, karate chops are a good idea) or he just loves that kind of characters).
  • Born Lucky: Has the highest Luck Stat out of all characters so far, though it does not necessarily mean that he will always survive a campaign by luck alone. If Chad's luck is in the player's favor, Chad can make use of keeping melee weapons from breaking, and regain stamina quickly upon landing an attack or breaking free from Jason's grip.
  • Cowardly Lion/Dirty Coward: Depends on the player's play-style and whether they're willing to aid others when in danger, but there's no denying that Chad has the lowest Composure out of all counselors and is the most likely to freak out at the sight of Jason.
    • The achievement for escaping in a car or boat alone when there are other surviving counselors is titled "Chad is a Dick" implying this sort of behavior is what he would do without player input.
    • His stats encourage this kind of playstyle. When it comes to fighting Jason, his high Luck improves weapon durability and grants more Stamina back for hitting Jason and escaping his grabs, and his high Speed lets him skirmish fairly effectively, but his low Strength and Composure stops him from actually doing much damage or wriggling out of Jason's grasp without help. When it comes to avoiding Jason, his high Speed is great for covering short distances, his decent Stealth lets him avoid detection early game, and his high Luck lets him run without stumbling and go through windows without cutting himself, but his poor Stamina means he can't run very far and his poor Composure means he'll panic and alert Jason to his location much more easily, forcing players to rely on others distracting Jason for them. Lastly, when it comes to escaping in a car or boat, his high Luck means he can start it quickly, but his poor Repair means he can't make it ready to start very well. This adds up to a very opportunistic playstyle that relies on working with other players... or exploiting them.
  • Dumb Blonde: A rare male example. Downplayed, because from what little we know about the counselors, he is only this in the Book Dumb sense.
  • Fan Disservice: In the swimsuit DLC trailer, he appears in a tight speedo, shows off his surprisingly toned body, strikes a pose for the girls... and promptly gets a spear thrown directly through his face by Jason.
  • Fragile Speedster: Has a very high speed statistic, but is hindered by his abysmally low composure and low strength, making it easy for Jason to kill him should he finally catch up to him.
  • Hate Sink: Word of God says he was designed with this archetype in mind, specifically on the sort of obnoxious, self-centered horror movie character that the audience actively roots for the monster/killer to get. It helps he was based on another character who is this trope from the remake.
    • The developers seem to have backed away from this in the Challenge mode as Chad is generally friends with all of the other Counselors rather than a Jerkass.
  • Hidden Depths: Chad has father issues, is a surprisingly caring boyfriend, and wants to be nicer to his butler.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Turns out to be one of these as he goes to comfort A.J. after she has a bad reaction to Chad's story about Jason.
    • Mind you, he's still The Peeping Tom but at least he has the decency to feel ashamed.
  • Lovable Coward: Seems to be this to the fandom given his freak outs and Low Composure but Ensemble Dark Horse status.
  • Momma's Boy: One of the loading screen tips randomly mentions he's one, albeit "would never admit it."
  • Mr. Fanservice: Well, he is blonde, sharp dressed and oh well... He has a skin of him in speedos showing his buff physique. Eyegasm is coming into Camp Crystal Lake.
  • Nervous Wreck: He is the counselor with the lowest Composure, getting spooked easily and sobbing in fear.
  • Nice to the Waiter: After sex with AJ, he talks about how he wants to be better to his butler.
  • Odd Friendship: Has one of these with Eric.
  • The Peeping Tom: Spies on Tiffany skinny-dipping during one of the Challenge Modes.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Chad wears nice, upscale clothing, as evidenced by his nickname "The Preppy Guy" in concept art.
  • Shout-Out: His Halloween costume resembles the Cobra Kai gi from The Karate Kid. An alternate color has it resemble Goku's gi from Dragon Ball.
  • Slashers Prefer Blondes: Chad was the only counselor with blond hair until Victoria was introduced, and has the lowest Composure, which makes him the easiest to get scared and sensed by Jason.
  • Thug Dojo: His Halloween costume DLC is a karate gi, that can even be customized to look like that of the Cobra Kai Dojo from The Karate Kid.
  • Walking Techbane: Like Buggzy, repairs and maintenance is NOT his forté.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Though his Strength statistic is low, Chad makes up for his excellent Luck statistic, which focuses mainly on combat. A skilled player can make use of Chad's ability to consistently stun a Jason player and step in and out of Jason's attack range with his high Speed statistic, making a competent Chad very hard to catch.

    Deborah Kim
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/deborah_kim.png

The Bookish Girl. Studious and small, she's very intelligent and uses her tiny stature and light step to sneak around, staying out of view from Jason.

Stats:

  • Composure: 5/10
  • Luck: 3/10
  • Repair: 10/10
  • Speed: 4/10
  • Stamina: 3/10
  • Stealth: 9/10
  • Strength: 1/10

Unlock Level: 6

  • Asian and Nerdy: Depicted as a Caucasian girl originally, she was changed into an Asian girl for the game, and also has the highest intelligence of all characters, giving her a maxed out Repair stat.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Considering that Deborah's main survival plan is being quiet and stealthy, and she is one of the weakest counselors in the game next to Jenny, Deborah is surprisingly bold in her words if she's forced to fight off Jason with whatever weapon she has in her hands.
"I know you can die, Jason!"
  • Born Unlucky: With bad Luck and terrible Strength, it would be unwise to melee Jason as Deborah, and smarter to mitigate this weakness with perks that allow you to start the car/boat faster.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Alongside Eric, she's able to fix cars and electronics in seconds.
  • Groin Attack: She's just as vulnerable to getting a cleaver jammed in her crotch or being split in half with a blade slicing between her legs, but she has a specific one in one of the single player challenges. In the Crow Repellent objective, she gets dropped privates-first on a spike in an absolutely agonizing kill, blood spewing from her impaled girl parts and mouth.
  • Hidden Buxom: Inverted. Deborah's sweater makes her look like the chestiest female counselor, but her swimsuit shows she's more modestly (but still enticingly) proportioned.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's quite attractive in her swimsuit.
  • Nerd Glasses: Her owlish glasses are definitely not chic by modern standards.
  • Sex Signals Death: Ends up getting killed by Jason in Part 5 when she's about to have sex with Buggsy.
  • Sexy Backless Outfit: Her swimsuit has a deep back plunge, revealing some skin. A lot of her butt is uncovered and plenty of cheek hangs out in the swimsuit as well, and given the standard camera position, it certainly lends itself to some Male Gaze moments.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Has the highest Repair stat and is the only female character to wear them.
  • Stealth Expert: Subverted. While Deborah has a very high stealth stat, second only to the perfect stealth stat of A.J and Tiffany, her composure is average, which means you need to manage your fear level carefully to stay invisible i.e. avoid seeing Jason, witnessing horrific events, spending any duration in the darkness etc.
  • Walking Techfix: She has maxed out Repair stats. You have to be very unlucky or distracted to miss a single action command prompt as her.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Deborah has low Speed, low Stamina and the lowest amount of Strength among all playable counselors so far (tied with Jenny for this), but makes up for it with her perfect Repair stat of 10 that will enable her to fix electronics and cars in seconds and little to no risk of Jason noticing, where it would take other characters a minute at the most. She also boasts a very high Stealth stat, which is complemented with a decent composure value, making her difficult to be detected by Jason if used correctly.

    Eric "J.R" Lachappa
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eric_87.png
Voiced by: Benjamin Diskin

The Nerd.

Stats:

  • Composure: 4/10
  • Luck: 5/10
  • Repair: 10/10
  • Speed: 3/10
  • Stamina: 2/10
  • Stealth: 8/10
  • Strength: 3/10

Unlock Level: 10

  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: Was based on a Kickstarter backer's real looks.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Eric seems tolerated by the others more than beloved.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Much like Deborah, Eric boasts the highest repair stat of all counselors, and is likely to fix up electronics in mere seconds if given an opportunity.
  • Jerkass: Tells a horror story despite the fact they petrify A.J.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Averted as Tiffany takes him up to make out in Challenge 10#.
  • Lethal Joke Character: In addition to being a Memetic Badass online, he is also a character who can get people out of the Crystal Lake area very quickly as well as sneak around Jason.
  • Odd Friendship: Seems to have one of these with Chad.
  • Stealth Expert: Subverted. He has below-average composure, slightly worse than Deborah's. If he can't keep his fear levels in check, Jason will find him via a quick scan of the Sense ability.
  • Slower Than a Snail: Because of his bad speed, worse stamina, and subpar composure, he's a sitting duck out in the open. If you're going to survive as Eric, never stray too far from a cabin.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Exactly like Deborah, them being the best at repairs and the only characters to wear glasses.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Is something of this because while all of the cast are Expy characters of popular F13 ones, Eric is an Expy of one already in the game (Shelly). Eric, notably, came first.
  • Troll: Tells a scary story about Jason Voorhees at Crystal Lake. May also qualify as Tempting Fate.
  • Walking Techfix: As expected from the Gadgeteer Genius he has maxed out Repair stats. A trait he shares with Deborah and Tommy.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Eric has low Strength, low Speed and the lowest Stamina among all counselors, but has a perfect Repair stat (tied with Deborah) and one of the highest Stealth stats overall.

The Biker Chick who was inserted into the main cast as a memorial for the late actress Gloria Charles, who portrayed the character in Friday the 13th: Part III. For tropes from the films see here.

Stats:

  • Composure: 6/10
  • Luck: 3/10
  • Repair: 6/10
  • Speed: 4/10
  • Stamina: 5/10
  • Stealth: 4/10
  • Strength: 7/10

Unlock Level: 32

  • Action Girl: Her relatively high Strength and decent Composure make her good in combat with Jason. In fact, she's the only female character with above-average Strength.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Originally she was a snarky gangbanger who picked a fight with the protagonists of her feature and attempted to swipe gas from the heroine's car. In the game, she's on very friendly terms with the other campers and even parties with them in cutscenes. She can also help defeat Jason.
  • Badasses Wear Bandanas: Just like her film incarnation.
  • Born Unlucky: Due to poor Luck Stat her melee weapons may break leaving her vulnerable, if you're going to fight Jason as Fox it would be very prudent to have a backup weapon nearby.
  • Distaff Counterpart: She's essentially a female Adam due to their similar statistics, where Adam leans slightly more towards Strength, Composure, and Speed, while Fox leans slightly towards Luck, Stamina, and Stealth.
  • Genius Bruiser: A downplayed example similar to Adam. She boasts the highest Strength out all the female counselors at an impressive 7 out of 10 (prior to Fox's release, Vanessa was the strongest girl at 4 out of 10), and her Repair stat is just high enough for her to comfortably handle fixing things up.
  • Hell-Bent for Leather: She wears a black leather jacket.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Can manage to survive Jason Voorhees this time around or even help Tommy kill him.

    Jenny Myers

Voiced by: Kristina Klebe

The Girl Next Door. She is based on the "typical" surviving girl in a Friday the 13th movie.

Stats:

  • Composure: 10/10
  • Luck: 8/10
  • Repair: 2/10
  • Speed: 3/10
  • Stamina: 5/10
  • Stealth: 6/10
  • Strength: 1/10

Unlock Level: 1

  • Born Lucky: She has great Luck Stat, so weapons are unlikely to fail her in the middle of battle, and can make a quick getaway in the car or boat if things go sour.
  • Death by Irony: She can be killed the same way which Chris defeated Jason in Challenge mode.
  • Demoted to Extra: With the exception of her hanging, has the least character development among the Counselors in the Challenge Mode. It is especially noticeable given she's the "star" archetype. Although given that she's the Final Girl archetype, it makes a little more sense that her role in the challenges would noticeably smaller since she'd typically be a survivor, not Jason's victim.
  • Fearless Fool: Jenny has maxed out Composure, so if you equip epic/legendary Perks such as Nerves of Steel and Preparedness, she never incurs a stamina penalty for being afraid. The Fool part of Fearless Fool is due to her terrible Repair and Strength stats, so Jenny can't contribute much to the team besides a distraction.
  • Final Girl: She's based on the trope, however, it can be subverted if Jason successfully kills her before the round is over or before Jenny successfully escapes.
  • Girl Next Door: She's explicitly called this on her concept art.
  • Glacier Waif: Though she is not necessarily suited to dishing out damage when attacking Jason due to her atrocious Strength statistic, she makes up for having a high Luck value to prevent her weapon from breaking, and she boasts the highest Composure score out of all counselors to help her confront Jason without panicking immediately. Because of her excellent Composure and high Luck, a good Jenny player can easily win a match by lasting long enough to let the time run out.
  • Irony: Boasts the highest Composure statistic out of all counselors, and yet she's just as panicky and hysterical as the others if she attempts to call the police for help.
  • Ms. Fanservice: In her Summer of '84 dlc costume she shows just as much (if not more) skin as Tiffany.
  • Nerves of Steel: Jenny has a perfect Composure score, making her extremely powerful in the right hands if the player takes advantage of her ability to remain calm while in stealth mode. Her high Composure also makes it more easier than other counselors to break out of Jason's grab. If she is equipped with a high ranking 'Nerves of Steel' and 'Preparedness' perks, Jenny no longer builds Fear, allowing her to replenish her Stamina at top-speed for the entire match.
  • Walking Techbane: Don't even bother trying to repair anything as Jenny.

    Kenny Riedell

Voiced by: Robbie Daymond

Head Counselor Kenny Riedell. He's smart, organized and a natural leader who oozes charisma. He can keep himself composed in even the most dire of situations which makes him someone you want to be around when Jason is nearby.

Stats:

  • Composure: 5/10
  • Luck: 5/10
  • Repair: 5/10
  • Speed: 5/10
  • Stamina: 5/10
  • Stealth: 5/10
  • Strength: 5/10

Unlock Level: 1

  • Ambiguously Bi: His glossy pink latex hot-cop Halloween costume certainly raises a few eyebrows, but he's seen in bed with Tiffany in the Virtual Cabin.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Even by the series standards when he's thrown into a woodchipper during Part 4 of Challenge Mode.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Glares at Chad as he shows off his impressive physique during the Spring Break '84 DLC Trailer.
  • Humans Are Average: Kenny epitomizes this trope. Jason however is a Mighty Glacier so he'll be fighting to stay alive by the match's end unless two or more counselors are assisting him.
  • Jack of All Stats: Kenny has 5 out of 10 for every single stat. He doesn't excel in anything, but is not bad at anything either.
  • Master of None: He doesn't excel at anything, as a consequence without giving him legendary perks you may soon find yourself hurting in any given scenario when you either want to avoid Jason, fight him, run away, or just repair something.
  • Skill Gate Characters: He's designed to be used for beginners, or for those who simply want to do a little bit of everything in a match. While he excels when he needs to fill in for certain roles once players starts dying, he will be outclassed by Counselors who are more adept in specialized roles and are alive and available to work.
  • Unmoving Plaid: Deconstructed. While the shirt is detailed and has wrinkles and lines, the lines and wrinkles are in exactly the same place.

    Mitch Floyd
Voiced by: Kirk Thornton
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mitch.png

The Stoner character archetype, and bears some resemblance to the character Chuck from Friday the 13th Part III.

Stats:

  • Composure: 9/10
  • Luck: 2/10
  • Repair: 8/10
  • Speed: 3/10
  • Stamina: 4/10
  • Stealth: 6/10
  • Strength: 3/10

Unlock Level: 24

  • Born Unlucky: Mitch's better at making repairs without alerting Jason. You can't hope to survive long in a fight against the serial killer with this Stoner's dismal Luck Stat and low Strength.
  • Captain Ersatz: Even more so than other Counselors as he gets the same death as Chuck in the Challenges section.
  • Erudite Stoner: He has the second highest repair stat, behind the tied Eric and Deborah.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Is a viable choice to handle all kinds of repairs with his high Repair statistic, and unlike Deborah and Eric, is able to keep his cool whenever Jason seems to be nearby.
  • High-Voltage Death: One of the Challenges involves this as a homage to Chuck in Part 3.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Is much older than the other Counselors.
  • Nerves of Steel: Boasts the second highest Composure out of all characters behind Jenny Myers.
  • The Stoner: Is explicitly made to fill in this role, and appears more rugged and unkempt than the other Counselors due to repeated drug use.
  • Tempting Fate: Says he's not afraid of the dark when going out into Crystal Lake at night, right next to a shed which probably has Jason next to it.
  • Walking Techfix: Mitch is fantastic for discreetly repairing cars and boats with his above-average Stealth, excellent Composure rating, so long as no one else blows his cover mid-journey though due to his below-average stamina.

    Sheldon "Shelly" Finkelstein
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sheldon.png
Voiced by: Larry Zerner

The Prankster archetype. Shelly is the infamous prankster who is notable for being the one to originally have Jason Part 3's iconic hockey mask, before Jason killed Shelly and took it for himself.

Stats:

  • Composure: 6/10
  • Luck: 1/10
  • Repair: 5/10
  • Speed: 4/10
  • Stamina: 4/10
  • Stealth: 8/10
  • Strength: 7/10

Unlock Level: 1

  • Born Unlucky: Scores the lowest Luck out of all Counselors, much like A.J.. Unlike A.J., Shelly has a high enough Strength to try and de-mask Jason before his weapon breaks under the right circumstances. Its recommended that you change weapons often and always have a backup.
  • Jerkass: Shelly attempts to initiate sex with Tiffany on their first date and when she turns him down, calls her a bimbo. He also attempts to scare her while she's playing around in the water. This is carried over from F13 part 3.
  • Combat Pragmatist: He has the strength to down Jason, but can't hold him off for as long as Adam or Buggzy could. Rather, the player is expected to ambush Jason via 'hit-and-hide' tactics.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Same with Eric but especially because most of the Counselors can't stand his needy Attention Whore demeanor.
  • Jewish and Nerdy: A quality shared by the actor with his character according to him.
  • Joke Character: He is often considered to be the worst of the Counselors due to his poor statistic allocation, although considering that this is Shelly, it's likely intentional.
  • No Social Skills: Isn't particularly nice to people despite wanting them to like him.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: A possible fate for Shelly is that he can escape from Jason Voorhees and Crystal Lake.
  • Stealth Expert: Has a high Stealth value to help him traverse the area without attracting too much attention, and coupled with his surprisingly high Strength, a good Shelly player can make use of 'hit-and-hide' tactics to ambush and surprise attack Jason if they play their cards right.
  • Stronger Than They Look: Shelly has above-average strength, but his poor Stamina and Speed make him ill-suited to hold the fort against a strong Jason player for long. Used properly, he's better at pulling off sneak attacks.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: A case of where he is one for himself. As Shelly takes on the role intended for Eric.
  • Values Dissonance: Shelly's behavior toward Tiffany was bad in the 80s but significantly more so today. It's also a bit Lighter and Softer as he only calls her a bimbo instead of a bitch for not sleeping with him.

    Tiffany Cox
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tiffany_cox.png
Voiced by: Cherami Leigh

The Flirty Girl archetype. A veritable bundle of energy, Tiffany is good at sneaking around, with a high Stealth stat, and is light enough to run for a long time with good Stamina. She tends to freak out more easily and in general has less in the way of Composure. She's a pretty versatile character, but isn't well-suited for repairing tasks like fixing cars or getting power turned back on in cabins.

Stats:

  • Composure: 3/10
  • Luck: 4/10
  • Repair: 1/10
  • Speed: 6/10
  • Stamina: 9/10
  • Stealth: 10/10
  • Strength: 2/10

Unlock Level: 18

  • Always Identical Twins: It turns out Tiffany has an identical twin in the 10th Challenge based on Part 4.
  • Angsty Surviving Twin: One of the Tiffany's can become this in the 10th Challenge.
  • Brainless Beauty: Much like Brandon, Tiffany has the lowest Repair statistic compared to the rest of the counselors, making her a terrible choice for fixing electronics and cars.
  • Butt-Monkey: In the beta version of the game, a Tiffany Cox character was always the first of the counselors to be killed off by Jason in the intro sequence before the game officially starts. Averted in the official release, where an NPC takes her place as the first victim before the match.
  • Final Girl: Her being one is considered highly unlikely. See Screw Destiny.
  • Give Geeks a Chance: Shelly wants her to do this and she passes. Oddly, she's okay with Eric.
  • Hollywood Drowning: Jason can kill her during a Skinny Dipping homage. Justified as she's being murdered.
  • Hot as Hell: Well, who else was going to wear the sexy and ultra revealing devil costume for the Halloween costume dlc pack?
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: A common method of killing her as she can get a spear through the eye or be impaled during sex during challenge mode.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Shows the most skin out of all the girls by far, and as mentioned below, her shorts are so short that part of her butt is very visible. There's also a loading screen that shows her in the lake wearing nothing but her underwear (her back's to the camera, though). Plus, she's in the promo for the Spring Break '84 clothing pack, in a very skimpy thong bikini.
  • Out with a Bang: Can be killed during sex with Adam.
  • Scavenger Hunt: A viable strategy is to utilize Tiffany's excellent Stealth and Stamina, complemented with her decent Speed, is to sneak around in the background to search for important items, and deliver them to counselors that can use them to repair cars and phone boxes more efficiently than Tiffany can.
  • Screw Destiny: An achievement basically lampshades that Tiffany is the first character to die as a flirtatious vivacious party girl, so her surviving as the Final Girl is worth noting.
  • Skinny Dipping: Played with. She was in her bikini but only because of ratings according to Word of God.
  • Stealth Expert: Subverted. Along with A.J., Tiffany may boast maxed out Stealth stats, but her poor composure means she's more easily frightened when alone. Barely a minute into the match she's already lit up like Coney Island when Jason's using his Sense ability. You're better off utilizing her speed and high stamina value to dodge and evade Jason.
  • Unbuilt Trope: Jenny is considered The Hero and archetypal Final Girl. However, the first two heroines of Friday the 13th (Alice and Ginny) were more similar to Tiffany in vivacious flirts in relationships with the head counselor.
  • Walking Techbane: She sucks at fixing anything in general.

    Vanessa Jones
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vanessa_jones.png
Voiced by: Noveen Crumbie

The Athletic Girl. She dates Kenny in Challenge 10.

Stats:

  • Composure: 3/10
  • Luck: 6/10
  • Repair: 2/10
  • Speed: 10/10
  • Stamina: 9/10
  • Stealth: 1/10
  • Strength: 4/10

Unlock Level: 1

  • Battle Cry: Gives a very heroic one when unmasking Jason.
  • Fragile Speedster
  • Hidden Buxom: She shows quite a bit of skin in her DLC costumes, revealing that she has a pretty good figure under that tracksuit (which makes sense, given that she's a career athlete).
  • I Work Alone: Smart Vanessa players will use this strategy, as her atrocious Stealth rank makes her a liability to have around more competent Stealth players. Since Vanessa will attract too much attention, she can put the other counselors playing stealthy at risk of being caught by Jason due to their low speed and stamina.
  • Precision F-Strike: When Vanessa manages to stun Jason, she shouts what you'd expect. She is also the only character to use this voice line.
  • Sassy Black Woman: Swears the most out of every counselor, and has the second-highest Strength stat of any female.
  • Scavenger Hunt: Her main purpose, as Vanessa can help find important items scattered across the campaign more efficiently than the slower counselors due to her high Speed. Any items found then dropped will show up on the map. Though any Vanessa player should refrain from being the Courier as you cannot carry parts and weapons in-hand at the same time, not to mention her terrible Stealth stat will blow her teammates cover and alert Jason.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: How Vanessa works if things go very right (see We Need a Distraction) or very wrong. A bad Vanessa player sticking with a stealthier but slower character may give both their positions away to Jason, but while Vanessa can easily outpace Jason, her now-exposed companion may not be so lucky. Savvy Jason players will also happily let Vanessa head for the hills while they stalk the easier prey she's supposed to be distracting him from.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: The female counselors swear more often, with Vanessa Jones at their head. Aside from her above-mentioned Precision F-Strike, she'll also shout the following:
"You like that, asshole?" (when stunning Jason)
"Oh shit. Did he see me?" (when hiding under a bed or in a closet)
"The fuck is happening?" (when starting the match)
"I'll kill you, I'll fucking kill you!" (when removing Jason's mask)
  • Superhero: Her Halloween costume DLC lets her dress up as Captain Ersatz versions of Supergirl, Batgirl, and Wonder Woman.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Has one of the lowest Repair stats, but has high Stamina, and is also the fastest runner. Her battle stats are also reasonable. Though she's terrible at hiding, Vanessa can easily outrun Jason for some time and keep on running long enough for him to either lose sight of her or realize she's just distracting him from the other Counselors working to make their escape.
  • Walking Techbane: You should not be trying to repair anything or delivering parts as Vanessa, her role is to distract Jason to allow counselors like Deborah a better chance to complete objectives when they're vulnerable.
  • We Need a Distraction: It's what she's made for. She can use her low Stealth, plus her high Speed and Stamina to draw Jason away from other Counselors, so that they can work in the background while a Vanessa player keeps Jason's attention focused on her.
  • With Cat Like Tread: Currently has the worst Stealth out of all characters and can easily be detected by Jason if the player has Vanessa do literally anything but stay absolutely still.

    Victoria Sterling
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/victoria_6.jpg
Voiced by: Allegra Clark

The Catty Girl.

Stats:

  • Composure: 4/10
  • Luck: 8/10
  • Repair: 3/10
  • Speed: 4/10
  • Stamina: 7/10
  • Stealth: 7/10
  • Strength: 2/10

Unlock Level: 42

  • Alpha Bitch: Her main personality quirk.
  • Born Lucky: Her great Luck Stat means weapons are less prone to breaking on her, she'll get better stamina boosts if she hits or wrestles free from Jason and can startup cars/boats usually before the killer has time to react.
  • Captain Ersatz: Much like Mitch, she's Melissa from Friday the 13th, Part VII: The New Blood with her serial numbers filed off.
  • Glacier Waif: Much like Jenny, Victoria is surprisingly capable of stunning Jason when the need arises, and combined with her decent Stamina and high Luck, Victoria can easily last quite some time fending a stubborn Jason off.
  • Rich Bitch: It's mentioned that she comes from money, attends the same country club as Chad, and that her father is the Dean of an Ivy League junior college.
  • Walking Techbane: She's not the worst, but definitely nowhere near the best either. You could perhaps try to mitigate her weakness with a Perk, though it's still very risky.
