     Daniel Tiger
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/daniel_tiger_daniel_tigers_neighborhood_33995458_1610_1839.jpg
Voiced by: Jake Beale (2012-2015), Devan Cohen (2015-2018), Keegan Hedley (2018-2022), Asher Bolduc-Theron (2022-present)
The main character of the series, a young tiger cub who likes to daydream.
  • Afraid of Needles: He seems a bit nervy when anticipating his shots.
  • Age-Appropriate Angst: Sometimes he gets angry or cries over things that seem trivial to an adult, but that's just because he's a little kid.
  • Animals Not to Scale: Is about the same size of a human his age.
  • Birthday Episode: His birthday was celebrated in an episode called "Daniel's Birthday".
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Often talks to the viewers, calling them his "neighbors".
  • Calling Your Bathroom Breaks: Says that he "has to go to the potty" several times.
  • Cheerful Child: While he does have some sad and grumpy moments, he has a positive attitude in general.
  • Consistent Clothing Style: Daniel always wears knitted hoodies. The red one he normally wears is his favourite, but he also owns a blue one, a green one, and a yellow one.
  • Cool Big Bro: Likes to sing to, play with and help with Margaret, who thinks he's a good brother.
  • Character Tics:
    • His ears twitch and his eyes shut when he's daydreaming.
    • Likes to do Eskimo kisses and say, "Ugga-mugga" (which apparently means, "I love you") to express opinion.
  • Flight: This is one of his super-powers when imagining himself as Super Daniel, along with Super-Strength and Super-Speed.
  • Funny Animal: Is a walking, talking tiger.
  • Furry Reminder: Mainly acts like a human, but likes to growl like a tiger, particularly when frustrated but sometimes just because.
  • Genki Boy: Is very active and upbeat.
  • Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Wears a jacket and shoes but no pants.
  • Limited Wardrobe: Nearly always wears his red jacket.
  • Mr. Imagination: Likes to make-believe and prompts the viewers to do so too.
  • Plot Allergy: Is allergic to peaches, which makes up the plot of "Daniel's Allergy".
  • Potty Dance: He starts to squirm due to having to pee while at the music store in "Daniel Goes to the Potty" and his father asks, "Is that a dance move?".
  • Sick Episode: He gets a cold in both "Daniel Gets a Cold" and "Daniel's Neighbors Help".
  • Species Surname: His last name is "Tiger" and he is one.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: He loves blueberries and anything with a blueberry flavor.

The wife of Mr Tiger and mother of Daniel and Margaret. As of the show's 2018 season, she works as a carpenter.

  • Illness Blanket: She's caught two colds, and both times, she was on the couch wrapped in a pink blanket.

  • Species Surname: She took her husband's surname "Tiger".

     Margaret Tiger
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/babymargaret.jpg
Voiced by: Kira Gelineau
Daniel's baby sister, who is about one year old. She is named in honor of Dr. Margaret McFarland, who was a long-time consultant and mentor to Mister Rogers.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Downplayed. She sometimes annoys Daniel due to her babyish antics but she isn't an outright pain in the neck to him and they usually get along fine.
  • Baby Talk: Can say "Dan-Dan" (her way of saying her brother's name) and other baby words, but can't quite talk yet.

  • Vague Age: Has white hair but no wrinkles, and is married to someone whose hair hasn't gone grey yet.

     Queen Sarah Saturday

Prince Wednesday's 6-year old cousin who goes around on crutches. She is not part of Daniel Tiger's class and therefore only shows up from time-to-time for visits as a guest character.
  • Disabled Means Helpless: Averted. When asked, she emphasizes that, even though she can't walk well, she's capable of doing things on her own and she's not treated any differently by the other kids either.
  • Expy: She's meant to be one of another girl that used crutches/braces by the same name in Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/daniel_tiger_jodi.jpg
Voiced by: Laaibah Alvi
A new neighbor of Daniel's who moves into the house next to the Tiger family in The Daniel Tiger Movie: Won't You Be Our Neighbor? with the rest of her family. Her favorite stuffed toy, or "stuffie," is a hedgehog named Benji.

     Teddy and Leo Platypus
Voiced by: Bryn McAuley (Teddy) and Milo Torriel-Gibbon (Leo Platypus)
Part of the Platypus family, they appear to be slightly older than Margaret and become fast friends for her.
  • Always Identical Twins: Daniel at first is confused about there being two Teddys and Mom Platypus explains about them being twins. Teddy wears an orange shirt bordering towards pink, Leo wears a turquoise shirt bordering towards light purple. According to a character profile from PBS, the two aren't very much alike in personality, Leo being shy and meticulous, whereas Teddy is loud and fast. However, we don't really get much indication of this on the episodes in which they're introduced.

     Dr. Platypus
Voiced by: Miku Graham
Jodi, Teddy and Leo's mother. She is the new dentist in the Neighborhood of Make Believe. She is also an amateur painter.
  • All There in the Manual: The "Dr." part refers to her being a dentist, as there is already a town doctor character on the show. However, the introductory episodes featuring the character don't mention this; it is instead revealed in a character profile issued by PBS. Later episodes do get into it, though.

     Nana Platypus
Voiced by: Elizabeth Hanna
Jodi, Teddy, and Leo's grandmother and Dr. Platypus' mother. She works as a hairdresser.

  • Class Pet: His debut appearance has the class voting whether or not to get a turtle or a bunny. The latter got the most votes.
  • Furry Confusion: He seems to be only non-anthro animal in the world of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, at least among the main cast. Other non-anthro animals can otherwise occasionally be seen.

     Dr. Anna
Voiced by: Laara Sadiq
The doctor.

     Mr McFeely
Voiced by: Derek McGrath
The mailman.

     Baker Aker
