The main protagonist of Chasing Time. A young, sweet, determined girl whose village was destroyed and her brother kidnapped right in front of her. Tiara is now on a journey to find her brother as well as be the miracle worker of the human race called Time. She is synchronized to Chrono and later falls in love with him. She dies at the end of Chasing Time.
All Girls Want Bad Boys: Falls for Chrono though this is actually subverted for though Tiara is attracted to Chrono early on she doesn't truly develop feelings for him until after his CharacterDevelopment.
Heroines Prefer Swords: Her weapon of choice is the Sword of Time, Sitaus. This specific weapon was handed to her as a representation that she is Time, heroine of the human race.
Heroines Want Redheads: Played straight and then subverted. Tiara had a crush on the redheaded Ralph in the beginning of the story that persisted for awhile but then she decides that they are more Like Brother and Sister. She then later gets together with Chrono who has black hair.
How Do I Use The Sword Of Time?: Tiara is unable to control the Sword of Time and what powers it gives her. Most of the miracles she does succeed in are usually due to dumb luck and the higher her emotional state the less likely it is that she can use her powers. This is of course justified that Tiara wasn't supposed to be Time and thus does not have the potential needed to control the Sword of Time.
Love You and Everybody: Prone to doing this when it looks like she's about to admit romantic feelings towards either Chrono or Ray. Much to their chagrin.
Never Learned To Read: Subverted but brought up. Tiara can read just fine but when Chrono, who is well educated, learns that Tiara is not educated he automatically asks her if she can. Tiara was not amused.
Oblivious to Love: Though Kivah suspects that Tiara is actually just ignoring Chrono and Ray's romantic hints.
Only Mostly Dead: Is actually legitimately dead with no pulse to her name. She is only animated through her Synchronization to Chrono and if that synchronization is broken she would go back to being a corpse.
Slowly Slipping Into Evil: Tiara fears that this might happen to her if she goes through with killing Vane in order to get Israel back. And the fact that she wants to kill Vane for all he done to her doesn't help matters.
You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Implied that Kivah tries to kill her through breaking the Synchronization after she feels that Tiara had served her purpose and is now only a threat to Chrono's life. This is however portrayed in a dream of Tiara's and it is up in the air whether Kivah really tried to kill her or not.
Characters Associated to Tiara
Israel Belknight:
The younger brother of Tiara and the forced puppet of Vane Tarmikos.
Big Sister Worship: Worshiped his sister and definitely didn't like the idea of her getting a boyfriend.
Famous Last Words: 'You found me.' Said this in response to Tiara saying 'I've looked everywhere for you.'
Fighting from the Inside: Israel successfully fights against Vane's mind control twice, both times due to his unwillingness to harm someone he cares for (His sister, Tiara and Ray). However, he is retaken over both times.
One-Sided Synchronization: Vane forced a bond between Israel and himself that is like Synchronization but instead of it being both ways it only effects Israel if Vane gets hurt but not the other way around.
Sex Slave: It is very much implied that Vane uses him for other things than just leverage on Tiara and fighting.
Weak Willed: Subverted. This is what Vane says his is, having been able to quite easily take control of Israel's mind. However, Vane was saying this to Tiara in a malicious attempt to break her and he did take over Israel right after Israel saw his dead parents bodies which had left him in quite a vulnerable position. He is also able to to fight off Vane's mind control twice before being recaptured.
Iskander and Annice Belknight (Tiara, Israel, and Sierra's parents):
A half fire demon who is in love with Tiara and has an Undying Loyalty to Kivah. Is the product of his mother's rape and an outcast in his human kingdom due to having demon blood. Is grumpy by nature and does not like to be touched expect for by Kivah and Tiara. Is synchronized to Tiara. Chrono dies at the end of Chasing Time along with Tiara.
Achilles Heel: His core (beneath the sternum), due to being half Firlys.
Aloof Big Brother: Towards his half sister, Ami. However, it is not because Chrono doesn't love her but more because of his inability to understand how to interact with her.
Big Brother Instinct: Towards Ami. Chrono mentions to Tiara that he could understand her reasons for looking for Israel because if it was Ami he would do the same thing.
Hates Baths: Due to his weakness towards water. Does not fight taking a bath however because he knows Kivah will throw him into it if he argues. She has done it before.
Kill It with Fire: Subverted. Despite the obvious lethality of his power, Chrono does not use his flames to kill due to his Thou Shalt Not Kill vow. He does, however, have no qualms about using his flames to hurt or maim.
Murder Makes You Crazy / It Gets Easier: Believes in this concept due to Kivah's upbringing (she told him that once he murdered the first time, the next kill would be easier) and it is this reason for his Thou Shalt Not Kill vow.
No Social Skills: In the beginning anyway mainly because the only one he actually wanted to socialize with was Kivah. He improves as the story goes on however by interacting with his True Companions.
Parental Abandonment / Parental Neglect: Poor Chrono gets a special mention for having the worse luck when it comes to his parents or parental replacements. His Father, who Chrono never met, is dead, having committed suicide by drowning out of guilt when he found out that he had impregnated Chie when he raped her. Chie neglects Chrono because he was born out of said rape and claims that she does not love him (though it's clear that she does). And even Kivah, his replacement mother, will eventually leave him (and has done so already for a year between his twelfth and thirteenth birthdays) due to her Nature.
One Note Cook: Chrono can make soup... and that's all.
Real Men Hate Affection: Is annoyed and defensive by any affection given to him by either Ray or Ralph. Because of this Ray is surprised and even lampshades it when Chrono comforts him after Israel's death by giving him a one armed hug.
Strong Family Resemblance: Looks enough like his father that his mother hates the sight of him because it was his father that raped her. Also is nearly identical to his older half sister, Raine.
Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Kivah mentions that he used to be a lot sweeter and less moody when he was younger. What she doesn't mention however is the reason why he is more grouchy nowadays was directly her fault.
Would Hit a Girl: Had no qualms about almost slapping Tiara early on and would attack any female who gets in the way of his goals. Also punches Nira at one point when he was emotionally distraught about Kivah's supposed demise.
Revenge: Went to war with Caaslm because she blamed Chie for her Father's suicide. Was placated however when her army brought back the news that she has a younger half brother and she immediately ended the war.
What the Hell, Hero?: Calls Kivah out for lying to Chrono about the circumstances of his conception. Kivah then calmly points out that she is doing it to protect Chrono from the truth.
King Consort Shihai Chardove of Caaslm (Chrono's Step-Father):
A mysterious Ghato (Wolf Demon) whose parental relationship with Chrono is what keeps her with the Time Group. Is manipulative to those around her, even to those she cares about, and has some questionable morals. Is mated to two Ghatos, Santorym and Daith, who she shares a polygamous relationship with. Is known to interact with several Gods throughout the story though especially Arazoir who Kivah states has a claim over her. She gains the ability to change into human form and the sword Kryba as gifts from Arazoir. It is revealed towards the end of the story that Kivah is actually the daughter of Arazoir, having been created as an experiment by a Mata'i demon called Lumbar. Kivah is actually also behind Tiara becoming Time and it is her punishment for this that Tiara, and especially Chrono, die.
Achilles Heel: Her human form. Kivah actually finds this intriguing and thinks of strengthening her human form as a wonderful challenge.
Also her wings by default, due to being a Ghato.
Acrophobic Bird: Kivah. Never. Flies. To the point where it becomes a Running Gag that whenever the situation calls for the simple solution of Kivah flying to carry her True Companions is answered with her saying that she is 'molting.' It is later explained that this is a Justified Trope since, if Kivah flies, Kalani will shoot her down with lightning under the excuse that she is in his (The God of the Sky's) territory.
The Ageless: Due to being half God. Kivah can still die however, she just won't die by old age.
A God I Am Not: Kivah really considers her Divine Heritage as a curse and has a sense of shame towards it whenever it comes up. This is the main reason why she keeps her heritage a secret for most of the story and reacts to telling the secret as if she expects her True Companions to abandon her.
Badass in Distress: Three times. However, the third time was actually brought on by her on purpose so that Ray, who was disillusioned, had a chance to save her and the rest of his True Companions in a ploy to make his soul pure again.
Chessmaster Sidekick: Despite being more ruthless and cunning than the rest of the Time group, Kivah is not the leader and prefers to do things in the shadows or just correct her friends mistakes when it comes up.
The Chooserof The One: Manipulated The Sword of Time into choosing Tiara as 'Time.' Did this for selfish reasons however, making Tiara 'Time' because she wanted to keep Tiara with her and Chrono in hopes that Chrono would fall for her.
Teleportation: Though she's horrible at it and it always results in...
Teleportation Sickness: The reason Kivah is prone to not using her ability to teleport. Her symptoms typically are dizziness, vomiting, and fainting. It is implied that this has something to do with her status as a Half God.
Bad Liar: Any other time, usually Played for Laughs because she makes it easy for the rest of her True Companions to know that she is hiding something from them.
Crazy-Prepared: Has many useful objects in her Dimension Pocket. Kind of justified because she has been traveling for about a hundred years and enjoys collecting things.
Love Is A Weakness: Believed in this concept during her time in Dr. Lumbar's lab. However, when the chips were down and she had to choose between misguided loyalty towards Lumbar and her love towards Santorym, Kivah chose love.
Meaningful Name: Kivah means 'shelter, protect.' Her main motivation throughout the story is protect and shelter her adoptive son Chrono.
Subverted however with her birth name Kylila which means 'beloved, darling.' Kivah is actually a minor case of The Unfavorite when it comes to her mother.
Minored In Ass Kicking: Kivah hardly ever gets into physical altercations, liking to sit back and watch her companions fight instead. That doesn't stop her however from stepping up and slaughtering anyone who pisses her off. Or messes with her little brother. Or her mates. Or Chrono.
Mysterious Past: Kept that way for a good portion of the story.
Never Gets Drunk: Despite how much alcohol she consumes, Kivah never gets inebriated. Then Played With when she becomes human for the first time and, after drinking her usual wine, she becomes tipsy much to the shock of the rest of the group.
Nominal Hero: Falls under the 'Relationships' category. Kivah is on the side of good because Chrono, her Not Love Interest, her True Companions, and her mates, Daith and Santorym, are good. She honestly doesn't care if others die. Take them away and Kivah can and probably would become evil in the worse possible way.
Technically a Smile: If she doesn't have the Cheshire Cat Grin on her face, this is usually what replaces it. It's tends not to bold well for whoever Kivah is looking at when this smile appears, especially if it is coupled with her red eyes.
Tends to be her standard role when it comes to situations where morals won't necessarily work and to keep the rest of her companions consciousnesses clean. It's to the point where Ray has no doubt that Kivah would Mercy Kill him after he gets his hands cut off in a ploy to save his kin.
Star-Crossed Lovers: Is this with her mates, in a downplayed version of this due to her Wandering Jew status. (She can still visit, she just can't stay.)
White-Haired Pretty Girl: Subverts this with her human form despite having the hair color. Even though as a demon Kivah has powers, she is unable to access them while in her human form. This is later played straight however.
Deal with the Devil: Made a deal with Dr. Lumber that if he is able to impregnate her then she will give him two of her children. He ends up doing it by impregnating her with Arazoir's DNA and she conceives three puppies. She is then able to keep Sol but had to give up Maroon and Kivah. This is the main reason for Kivah's animosity towards her.
Mrs. Robinson: Santorym mentions that Asante is attracted to him and actually sometimes forgets that Santorym is her daughter's mate and not hers. Much to Santorym's discomfort.
Parental Abandonment: The main reason for Kivah's animosity towards her. Granted Asante is trying to make up for it.
A Day In The Lime Light: Gets his very own chapter along with Datih. Also the side-story which shows the past in Dr. Lumbar's laboratory is actually told in his point of view.
Face Death with Dignity: Shown in flashback that when Lumbar sentences him to be killed by Kayless/Kivah, Santorym decides not to struggle but just allow Kayless/Kivah to do it. Luckily for him however, Kayless/Kivah had otherideas...
Green Eyes: Although he was born with blue eyes. His green eyes are a side effect of one of the chemicals he had been injected with during his experimentation days in Dr. Lumbar's lab.
Heroic Blue Screen Of Death: Briefly goes near suicidal in his back story after Kayless/Kivah tells him that if ordered to do so she would kill him "without a second thought."
Heroic Self-Deprecation: Shown in flashback that Santorym had very little self worth, though justified in that his role in Lumbar's lab was to be a grunt, a body only meant for experimentation. He grows out of it due to his mates influence and is now quite cheerful in the present.
Ill Ghato: During his time in Dr. Lumbar's lab due to having to take drugs that wrecks havoc in his system.
Insecure Love Interest: Was this to Kivah/Kayless in flashback. Justified because Kivah/Kayless did nothing to sway him from this and acted like he was only an experiment for social interactions. His relationship with Daith, on the hand, was a lot more healthy.
Love Epiphany: Actually has three separate ones in flashback as he comes to realizations of loving two different people separately but equally. The first one he has is when he sees Kayless/Kivah's blue eyes for the first time (They were previously red) after she snaps him out of his Heroic BSOD. The second time is when he was with Daith and realizes that Daith has feelings for him after he shows jealousy over both him and Kayless/Kivah after Santorym and Kayless/Kivah had Their First Time. His final Love Epiphany is when Daith and Kayless conspire to make a nutritious substance for him that tastes like strawberries and Santorym realizes he loves them both.
Friendless Background: Before Kayless/Kivah decided to interact with him, Daith had no one. Not that he truly minded.
Green-Eyed Monster: A mild case but shown in flashback that after Daith came to the conclusion that Santorym and Kayless/Kivah had mated Daith becomes jealous of the both of them and believes that he lost both of them to each other. Of course, after admitting this, Santorym is quick to dissuade him.
Healing Potion: Creates them for Kivah along with other potions.
Hikikomori: Prefers to remain in his 'lab' and isolated from everyone except for his mates. He was worse however during his past when it was literally a joke at the thought of him leaving the boundaries of his lab. It was, however, also a touching moment for Santorym that Daith was willing to do it just to check up on him.
Intelligence Equals Isolation: Not that Daith minded. It was the main reason why Kayless/Kivah was interested in him.
The Nicknamer: It is shown in a Flashback that Daith was the one that came up with the Affectionate Nicknames for his mates before they became mates.
No Social Skills: During his background Daith is not very socially developed. Justified because his spends all his time in a lab making drugs for the Mata'i demons to test on his brethren. He does get better, due to interactions with his future mates.
OOC Is Serious Business: Shown in a Flashback that him exclaiming Santorym's name in worry told Santorym that something was wrong because Daith rarely, if ever, raises his voice.
Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness: Played with. Daith actually talks quite normally to those around him despite his intelligence. However, when he is with Kivah, they both tend to start talking in more and more elaborate ways towards each other. Santorym mentions that it's a game between the two of them to see which one could one up the other in the complications of their speech.
Ret Gone: Tries to manipulate Kivah into erasing him from reality so that he would be able to experience her power first hand. Kivah is stopped however by Santorym and Daith who realizes that if she does it she, they, and everyone else connected to Dr. Lumbar would be erased as well.
Situational Sword: Needs to slash the victim for it's power to work and Kryba can only be wielded by humans.
Ray Hachi of the Hachi Clan:
A Hachi Clan member who was exiled from his home world. He has a very cheerful personality and is a skilled Martial Artist. Is in love with Tiara.
Absurdly Youthful Father: Due to being a demon who ages much slower than humans, Ray is this to his son who, though a Half-Human Hybrid, ages the same way as a human. They both look fifteen.
Achilles Heel: His hands, due to being a Hachi Clan member.
Impaled Palms: Which Vane Tarmikos used gleefully to his advantage.
A Man Is Not a Virgin: Had his first time with a girl from the dojo where he learned martial arts. He actually knocked her up but she never told him. Also had sex with Chrono's older sister, Raine. Much to Chrono's chagrin. It is also implied that he slept with Kendall before she was hung.
Brought Down to Normal: Loses his powers of being a Hachi clan member after his heart was corrupted. He regains them however after his friends helped him purify his heart.
Cainand Abel: With his older half-brother Dwale. He does end up killing him in the end.
Healing Factor: Ray has the ability to suck up the energy in the earth around him to quicken the healing process of his body. He can only do this however when he has the blessing of his Goddess, Era. It is also a downplayed version.
Healing Hands / Intimate Healing: Or rather, healing saliva. Ray doesn't use it often because of the intimate implications that goes with it.
Delivery Guy: Helps the birthing of two separate children and in the Epilogue it is revealed that he delivered Tiara's two children, Israel and Kivah Ann.
Heroic Sacrifice: Barely subverted. Ray was willing to allow his hands to be cut off which, for a Hachi, would mean he would no longer have access to his powers, as a tribute to his Goddess in order for her to pardon the Hachi clan members she had left on Mizet for their sins. Ray is only saved from this fate by said Hachi clan members and they still get their redemption.
Honorary Uncle: Eventually becomes this to the future children of his friends.
Interspecies Romance: Every girl Ray has been with or had feelings for are either Human or a different demon species from him. With the exception of Rin Rin, of course.
It Gets Easier: Subverts this trope because, despite having killed at least four people directly, Ray mourns for each of them as if they were his best friends and feels great guilt for each kill.
Mayfly-December Romance: With Celia and Kendall. Would have also been the case with Tiara had she reciprocated his feelings. This is especially noticeable with Celia who Ray had a romance with when she was fourteen and fifteen years later she is twenty nine while Ray still looks like a teenager.
Really 700 Years Old: Is actually eighty years old despite claiming to be fifteen.
Red Right Hand: Gains Kaleidoscope Eyes (alternating between brown and black) to show his descent into corruption after killing his half brother, Dwale.
Species Loyalty: To the point that he leaves his True Companions to help a few Hachi who was forbidden to leave Mizet for their sins and he almost gets his hands cut off in a Heroic Sacrifice to erode said Hachi members of their sins.
Supernatural Gold Eyes: The physical proof that Ray is a member of the Hachi clan as well as an earth demon.
You Can't Go Home Again: Played straight for the majority of Chasing Time but after the Downer Ending Era, deciding he has been punished enough, with having to witness the death of his love and his Vitriolic Best Bud, grants him entry back onto his world. Of course this is proved moot with the ending of the Sequel due to the Set Right What Once Went Wrong event.
Characters Associated to Ray
Hanna Hachi of the Hachi Clan (Ray's Mother):
Achilles Heel: Her hands, due to being a Hachi Clan member.
Combo Platter Powers: As a Hachi, Helen is supposed to have several powers at her disposal but is unable to access them due to her ancestors sins. She regains them after Ray chooses to sacrifice himself for them.
De-power: Unable to access her powers as a Hachi due to her ancestors sins. She gains them in the end.
Last Girl Wins: Is married to Ray in the sequel. However, this is proven null after Sierra Set Right What Once Went Wrong and Ray of the new timeline never makes it back to his world.
Supernatural Gold Eyes: Subverted for though she is a Hachi, she does not have the powers. Until later, that is...
Ralph Azo:
An acquaintance of Tiara's from her village who she had a brief crush on. Ralph wasn't there for the destruction of his village because he was on a mission to acquire the Kwan Dao of Rai. The father figure of the Time group who is very protective of all it's members. Is in love with Nira.
Attractiveness Isolation: Tiara mentions to Nira that, while all of the girls in her and Ralph's village were attracted to Ralph, (Tiara included) no one ever asked him to be their lover due to this trope.
Chekhov's Gunman: Is named in an offhand comment in the beginning of the story. He shows up chapters later to take his place as one of the main characters.
The Chosen One: Chosen to set free the human slaves from Lusteor, Kingdom of the Mata'i. This is, however, subverted. Ralph was only meant to receive the Kwan Dao of Rai and pass it along to his child which would, along with Time (who would have been Sierra) be the one to free the slaves. However due to Kivah's intervention in making Tiara Time, Ralph ends up doing his child's task sixteen years early.
Underestimating Badassery: Ralph tends to be forgotten by enemies in favor for his more noticeable companions. That is however, until he attacks.
Wouldn't Hit a Girl: Calmly throws a fighting match during the Tournament Arc when he sees that his opponent is a woman much to Chrono's annoyance and Kivah's amusement.
Then subverted when Ralph goes after, and kills, Azariah who had possessed Nira and had forced her to attack her True Companions and resulted in Nira slitting her own throat to stop the attack. Of course, Azariah really deserved it.
A red-headed assassin who was hired by the King of Caaslm to kill his step son, Chrono. She could not do it however due to befriending Tiara and instead decided to join the Time Group, interested in the idea of traveling the world to find her parents killer. Has a short temper and is suspicious of Kivah's moral ambiguity. Is in love with Ralph.
Aggressive Categorism: States that all Ghatos are evil (Due to one killing her parents). No exceptions. Main reason for her conflict with Kivah, though in that case her accusations are notentirelyunfounded.
All for Nothing: Spent her life honing her killing skills in order to avenge her parents only to find out that Trevian, the killer, had died the same night from wounds he had sustained.
Archer Archetype: Despite knives being her weapon of choice, Nira is really good with a bow and arrow and it is noted that whenever she uses this particular weapon, Nira becomes cool, reserved and analytical which is noticeable due to her usual temperament.
Bullying a Dragon: Nira near constantly insults Kivah who, if she had the motivation to do so, could either rip Nira to shreds with her teeth and claws or merely snap her neck with her Mind Over Matter powers. Or even erase her from reality with a mere thought.
Demonic Possession: is possessed by an Aliuri through the Aliuri's ability to control the water Nira had accidentally swallowed in a lake she was swimming in. Nira is then forced, while fully conscious, to attack her True Companions. However, when she is facing Ralph, her Love Interest, Nira is able to break the Demonic Possession by slitting her own throat.
Fantastic Racism: Mostly towards Ghatos, but has some underlying racism towards the other demon species as well. She gets better, however.
Heavy Sleeper: Notorious for being difficult to wake up. Usually Played for Laughs but at one point it becomes a serious flaw when Tiara wakes up to discover that she is paralyzed and is slowly being tortured through the Synchronization to Chrono. Realizing that Chrono is in danger Tiara immediately tries to wake Nira up but is unable to do so by merely calling her name. Eventually she is able to work up enough movement to throw an object at Nira's head, effectively waking her up.
Hitman with a Heart: Couldn't bring herself to kill Chrono because then she would have killed Tiara, who she had befriended. It ended up with her having to let her assassin persona, The Deadly Scarlet, to be 'killed' in order to keep her reputation.
Irrational Hatred: Her hatred for Kivah begins as this since she hates all Ghatos because one had killed her parents. After getting to know Kivah however, Nira's hatred becomes more genuine because she sees the murderess in Kivah and is suspicious that eventually Kivah will turn on her and their friends. It didn't help that Kivah forced her to kill off her assassin persona, the Deadly Scarlet, in order for Kivah to give Chrono a more fearsome reputation.
Jerkass Has a Point: Despite constantly insulting Kivah, usually unprovoked, Nira does have a point in her distrust considering what Kivahis. This is the main reason Kivah doesn't usually fight back, its her way of acknowledging that Nira is right.
Poisoned Weapons: Icoris and Ecoris; Nira's knives. Icoris is bathed in the strongest of demon poisons while Ecoris is bathed in the strongest of human poisons.
Red Baron: Is known as the Deadly Scarlet assassin.
Nira's ex-fiance and also her old teacher. An assassin by trade. Kai Elric is actually dead when the Time group meets him and his image is impersonated by a Soarei demon by the name of Ramos.
Achilles Heel: Ramos' eyes due to being Soarei. It's how Nira kills him by shooting an arrow through his eye socket.
New Old Flame: Is Nira's ex-Fiance. Of course it is revealed that the Kai Nira knew and loved is actually dead now with a Soarei demon by the name of Ramos using his illusions to impersonate him.
White Hair, Black Heart: In a professional sense due to being an assassin. Subverted in attitude where he is a Nice Guy to the time group. It also implies however his secret....
The Big Bad of Chasing Time and the fallen God of Battle after he challenged Arazoir and lost. Is seeking to take over Tiara's body so he would have power over the Sword of Time.
The demon who destroyed Tiara's village and kidnapped Israel. Vane is the main villain at odds with the Time Group and has a disturbing interest in Kivah.
Abusive Parent: Turns out he fathered a pair of twins to a rape victim of his. And what does he do when he finds out that they exist? He has Israel set fire to their home.
Achilles Heel: His wings that Vane keeps invisible at all times.
Attempted Rape: Vane almost rapes both Tiara and potentially Ray though he is prevented both times. What made it even worse though with Tiara was that he even threatened to have Israel rape her after he was done with her.
Combat Sadomasochist: Especially heavy on the sadism, though he shows a side of masochism when it comes to Kivah hurting him. He didn't even mind when she carved instructions into his arm to send them to Israel.
Combo Platter Powers: Due to being Magus, Vane has several powers at his disposal. Vane is also unique is the fact that he has a single power from each of the other demon species due to his master's experimentation.
More than Mind Control: Vane mentions that the only way for him to mind control someone is to break them so completely that they ask for him to take away their free will. This is the reason he tries to rape Tiara.
Corruption of a Minor: Israel, full stop. Later he does the same thing to his own children after he decides that he can use them rather than just kill them.
Mix-and-Match Demon: Although Vane was born a Magus (shadow demon), Sin placed residual pieces of seven of his victims, each from the different demon species, into Vane to give him one unique power from each of the other seven demon species.
Mysterious Past: One that makes no headway until the Sequel.
The Nicknamer: Has given insulting names to all of the Time group. Mainly because he doesn't actually care enough to know their true names. He calls Kivah his "Ghato Dear", Tiara "Wench", Ray "Little Hachi", Chrono "Fire Sprite", and Israel "Puppet", amongst others.
Worthy Opponent: Thinks of Kivah this way. He is even disappointed when it is Ray to show up to save Tiara from getting raped instead of Kivah and even gave Kivah the 'We Can Rule Together' speech. Twice.
Master of Illusion: So good were his illusions that he was able to hide that fact that the dungeon he locked Ray and Chrono in was frozen over and later trick Ray into thinking that Chrono kissed him and, in response, that he killed Chrono by knocking him down some stairs. Of course, considering Chrono was synchronized to Tiara, which Raidis didn't know, it automatically put a chink in Raidis' whole revenge plot when Tiara was alive and unharmed even though Chrono was 'killed'.
Depraved Bisexual: Wanted to rape both Chrono and Ray but was in an implied relationship with the Aliuri, Selene.
The first Half God the Time Group meets. (Kivah notwithstanding.} The bastard child of Heriana and a human man, Kendra likes being the center of attention and enjoys forcing men to fall in love with her. Takes an interest in Chrono because he wasn't immediately swayed by her advances and subsequently kidnaps him. This does not bode well for Kendra however after Kivah gets involved.
Woman Scorned / Yandere: Kidnaps and tries to sexually abuse Chrono because he showed no interest in her when she tried to come on to him.
Aron:
The bastard child of Victorei and a human woman. He becomes at odds with the Time Group because he is on a quest to kill all Half Gods and had set his eyes on Kivah.
Hunter of His Own Kind: Inverted. He is the evil one who goes after innocent Half Gods in order to get recognition from his Father, the War God. He, however, made the mistake of going after Kivah.
A Form You Are Comfortable With: Every time Arazoir appears in front of Kivah he takes on different forms that he believes would please her at the time.
She's never pleased.
Abusive Dad: Although he claims to love Kivah, he is also psychologically abusive towards her and does actually harm her at one point when she angered him.
The Chooserof The One: Hand picks who will be the next 'Time' after the former one dies.
Hot God: No matter what appearance he takes, he is always attractive.
It Amused Me: According to Ray, this is the reason behind the healing saliva. Era thought it would be amusing to see her children embarrassed at having to resort to this in situations where they would have to do this on a stranger.
Mercy Kill: Considers doing this to Ray after he gains black eyes which means that his heart was corrupted. She is convinced however by Kivah to let her try at purifying his soul again instead.
Parental Favoritism: Kivah accuses Era of this in regards to Ray. Era does not deny it.
Offing the Offspring: Comes very close to mercy killing Ray which Kivah describes as being equivalent to killing her (Era's) own child.
Mercy Kill: It is stated that the reason death is what happens to those of the Hachi clan who commits crimes is because Era wants them to die pure rather than be tainted by their actions.
Ape Shall Never Kill Ape: Any Hachi who kills another almost automatically becomes corrupted and is executed as a result. Ray is an exception however.
Healing Factor: If a Hachi has a blessing from his Goddess he can use the energy from the earth around him to quicken the healing process of his injuries.
Healing Hands / Intimate Healing: Or rather, healing saliva which, by default, makes any healing performed intimate.
No Self Buffs: A Hachi can't use their own healing saliva to heal themselves.
Virgin Sacrifice: Has the demons she made, The Kissa (Cat demon), give her a virgin sacrifice every thirty years per clan. Becomes a plot point in the Sequel.
The Social Darwinist: Played with. Cal's morals do not believe in this but in order to survive Exile Island he has to follow by the rules of this concept.
White Hair, Black Heart: Subverts this despite having the hair color. Cal is a really nice guy.
Wings Do Nothing: Since half of his left wing was torn off, Cal can't use his wings to fly but rather uses his ability to manipulate the wind to float.
