With the novel of all (Fan Fiction)

* [[Creator/JRRTolkien Elvish]] isn't immune. A sadly lost fanfic involved a poem written in Elvish which, when translated back into English, came out containing lines like:
-->"Woodpeckers of globes of a flat place, I order you to die."
* Many writers of anime fanfic are not fluent in Japanese. That does not stop them from [[PoirotSpeak using Japanese]] in ways that are jarringly wrong, particularly with respect to politeness levels and ways of addressing people.
* The fandom of ''Webcomic/AxisPowersHetalia'' sometimes suffers from this in a very special way. Being that the main characters are all [[AnthropomorphicPersonification anthropomorphized]] [[MoeAnthropomorphism representations]] of various world countries. It's is possible to find horribly mangled [[GratuitousForeignLanguage Japanese, French, German, Russian, or any other language]] in a single fic or even a single chapter. It can be quite... painful.
** On the topic of ''Axis Powers Hetalia'', this is really the only explanation for the entirety of ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6319755/1/One_night_of_the_drop_of_rain One night of the drop of rain]]''. Sample quote: ''_TRANSLATION ERROR_ said the England in the surprised.'' There's a DramaticReading [[http://szaleniec1000.tumblr.com/post/39521626498/thanks-to-tvtropes-for-bringing-this-hilariously here.]]
* There exists a [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5968153/1/Teenager_Mystery_Dungeon_Fanfiction_Version Pokémon fanfic]] which the author attempted to translate, despite only having three years of French under his belt. [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5968197/1/Jeune_Donjon_Mystere_Version_Fanfiction The results were catastrophic.]]
* [[Creator/HansVonHozel Hans von Hozel]]'s stories are like this.
* The now sadly lost ''StarWars'' fic ''Murder of Image'' was full of these, which added to its SoBadItsGood appeal. Sample dialogue: "Out of here, you son-of-a-gun! In the Republic exist privacy, isn't it?"
* The now infamous ''WesternAnimation/{{Beast Wars}}'' fanic ''FanFic/DinobotsOldTechnology'', translated word-to-word from the writers native French-Canadian to English via a dictionary with ''no corrections made otherwise''. And even better it's written in script form, rewriting an episode (one of the best of the series) for ''no apparent reason''. * Possible explanation for at least some of what was wrong with [[FanFic/LegolasByLaura legolas by laura]]. "Mean while Gandalf is have a fun time trying to destroy the Dark Lord"?
* The author of ''Fanfic/ThePrayerWarriors'' often includes parts that are [[AltumVidetur in Latin]], which he says that [[SmartPeopleKnowLatin atheists and other stupid people will not be able to understand]]. However, the Latin is not well done, as "Ego vere fidelis in cuniculis" translates into "I am a true believer in mines." He later does an entire chapter in Danish, which comes out somewhat better.
* PlayedForDrama in "Helping ... Hands?", one of the fics in ''FanFic/RainbowDoubleDashsLunaverse''. As part of an investigation into Zebra culture (in response to Zecora's support of Corona), Luna gives Trixie a translated book of Zebra magic rituals. Unfortunately, neither Luna nor Trixie realize that the scholars who did the translation did so in just about the most slapdash manner possible. In particular, almost none of the rites are correctly labeled. The first spell Trixie cast was supposed to turn Lyra into a zebra, instead it turns her into a human. Then Trixie casts what is supposed to be a general counterspell, and discovers that it's actually a gender-change spell. And things only go downhill from there.
