* In ''Anime/DigimonAdventure'', [[spoiler:Hikari does one when Wizardmon "dies", leading to the activation of her crest]]. It was strangely cut from the dub. Equally as strange, the clip was shown in a brief flashback in a later episode, except during a voiceover narration, so her voice was not heard.
** Also used in the episode "Ogremon's Honor" by Mimi when [[ItWasHisSled Leomon "dies"]][[note]]With the exception of ''Data Squad'', Digimon don't actually "die", exactly. They just get reconfigured. They are computer data, after all.[[/note]]

* ''Anime/HaloLegends'': Specifically in ''The Duel'', where Fal [[spoiler: discovers the dead body of his wife and lets out his "NOOOOOOOOO"]].
** His inflection makes it a bit difficult to tell, but it seems more like an inarticulate SkywardScream.

* In ''Manga/HidamariSketch'', Miyako seems to inspire a number of these.
* Satoko plays this straightforward the anime-exclusive "Disaster Awakening" chapter of ''VisualNovel/HigurashiWhenTheyCry'' when she [[spoiler:sees the bodies of her schoolmates in the aftermath of a disastrous toxic gas leak that wiped out virtually the entire population of 2,000 people in her village other than herself]].
* In ''History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi'', during a financial crisis, Miu has the masters of Ryouzanpaku give lessons to small children. Kenichi is amused to see the straight-faced (but cruel) Akisame being run ragged by the hyperactive kiddies, but enacts this trope when he later sees what [[http://www.onemanga.com/Historys_Strongest_Disciple_Kenichi/191/12/ kind of effect his teachings have]].

* In ''Anime/InuYashaTheMovieAffectionsTouchingAcrossTime'' (both the English and Japanese versions) Kagome lets out a rather chilling one after [[spoiler:being forced to shoot Inuyasha by the BigBad]] Complete with lack of BGM and echoes. It is used rather effectively though.

* In the anime version of ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'', during [[spoiler:Caesar's death scene]], Joseph [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsJeQWZqCpU&t=29s adds in]] a BigNo in GratuitousEnglish after a SayMyName moment.
* The English dub of ''VisualNovel/{{Kanon}}''(2006) has the young Yuichi screaming "NOOOOOOOOOO!" after [[spoiler: Ayu falls off a tree and apparently dies (she actually slips into a [[ConvenientComa coma]]). In the Japanese version Yuichi instead screams "[[SayMyName AYUUUUUUUUUU]]!"]]

* ''Manga/LiarGame'' plays this straight with Ms. Kosaka upon her [[http://www.onemanga.com/Liar_Game/82/15/ defeat]].

* In ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'' Izumo yells this in his mind [[spoiler: a few seconds before Hidan kills Asuma.]]

** Since the Japanese word usually used for the Big No, "iya," sounds like a scream anyway, it only makes sense to translate these as such.

* In ''Anime/{{Penguindrum}}'' Ringo does this as a drugged up Tabuki chases her.

** Nando [[TheStoic (?!)]] gets one when [[spoiler:Ash's Heracross knocks out his Kricketune with Megahorn.]]

* ''Manga/SailorMoon''. A lot, but particularly in the last episodes of the first and last seasons when all her friends [[spoiler:seemingly die]].

* In ''Manga/ShadowStar'': Hiroko understandably lets one out as [[spoiler:[[AlphaBitch Aki Honda]] and her GirlPosse are ''raping her with a test tube'']].
* ''Anime/SmilePrecure'':
** In Episode 4, Cure Happy shouts one when the MonsterOfTheWeek is about to attack Nao's little siblings.
** Nao/Cure March herself ''shrieks'' this in Episode 43, when the villain appears to have ''killed'' her siblings.

* Simon from ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'' performs a variation on this trope, instead shouting "[[spoiler:ANIKI!!!]]" when he believes [[spoiler: Kamina has been killed by Thymilph. Kamina, however, stays alive just long enough to make a HeroicSacrifice in the form of the Giga Drill Breaker]].
** The king (or rather, queen) of this trope is - surprise, surprise - Kinon. [[spoiler:When Rossiu is about to shoot himself in the head, [[LoveInterest Kinon]] screams out a teary '''''DAAMEEEEEEEEEEE!!!''''' which stops him dead in his tracks - just in time to receive a GetAHoldOfYourselfMan punch from Simon.]]

* Erza when [[spoiler:Simon dies]] in ''Manga/FairyTail''.

** In ''Manga/TheTyrantFallsInLove'', the homophobic Souichi does this whenever his [[SenpaiKohai lab assistant]] Morinaga comes onto him. Matters are confused because he doesn't want to face up to his potential homosexuality and so pretends to resist Morinaga to satisfy his own guilt even when he secretly wants to have sex - the BigNo comes out when he ''really'' doesn't want it and needs to make that clear.

* In ''Anime/IkkiTousen Dragon Destiny'', an anguished [[spoiler: Kan'u]] screams "NO!" and follows it with [[spoiler: Ryuubi]]'s [[SayMyName name]] towards the end, when [[spoiler: Ryuubi is fully taken over by her SuperpoweredEvilSide.]]

* During the traumatic end of the first episode of ''Manga/AttackOnTitan'', Eren Yeager lets loose with a big ''"YAMEROOOOOOOOOO!"'' [[note]]"STOP IT!"[[/note]] as [[spoiler:his mother is about to get eaten by the Smiling Titan]]. In the manga and the English dub, this scene is served with a proper BigNo.
