  • The entirety of Todd against the new soldiers. Mook Horror Show at its peak, with Todd using every dirty trick in the book, and a few he made up special for this occasion, to utterly obliterate the enemy.
  • Caine 607 is in Crawler 2, bombarding the shit out of the civilian settlement. Crawler 1, which last we saw tangling quite unsuccessfully with Todd, pops up on his scope. Caine orders Crawler 1 to a specific position to join the bombardment, the driver of Crawler 1 acknowledges. Caine shoots off a few more rockets, then notices Crawler 1 hasn't changed course, so repeats his instructions. Again, the driver acknowledges. Caine does some more shooting, then notices Crawler 1 still hasn't changed course, so repeats the instruction with more urgency. Again, the driver of Crawler 1 acknowledges. For a fourth time, Caine notices Crawler 1 has not changed course.
Caine: Crawler 1. You're on a collision course with me.
    Todd: Affirmative, 2.
  • After, Lieutenant Rubrick tries to raise either Crawler 1 or Crawler 2, but gets no response until he asks "Are any of you men out there?" To which Todd responds: "Your men are obsolete."
  • Todd's final fight with Caine.
    • Todd really shows how his experience aids him, deliberately throwing off his timing so Caine (who was trained the exact same way he was) can't as effectively counter Todd's attacks. Caine is no slouch either, demonstrating that Meekum's faith in the superiority of the new breed of soldier was not entirely unfounded, taking damn near everything Todd can throw at him without slowing down, while every single hit Caine lands on Todd hampers his combat effectiveness. Finally, Todd wins with his guile and experience, looking at a rusty sickle on the ground. Caine follows his gaze, goes for the weapon. . . leaving him open for Todd to land the attack he didn't telegraph, rotating the helicopter rotor over his head to slice Caine's belly. Caine still puts up a good fight, but Todd hitting the injury gives him the edge, and Todd finally ends the fight, and Caine, by snapping his neck.
    • The fight begins with Todd and Caine staring each other down, Todd warning the civilians to get back. Caine sees them escaping along a ridge, his last orders having been to eliminate the settlement and anyone in it. Caine turns back to Todd, who simply shakes his head "no".
  • The movie simply would not work without the acting chops of someone like Kurt Russell. Creating a fully engaging, emotional performance while only speaking 104 words in the entire film. His facial expression doesn't even change much, remaining variations on "stoic" most of the time. It's all in the eyes. The other actors playing the soldiers work well too, making it utterly believable these are a group of people who have almost, but not quite entirely, had all their humanity beaten out of them.
