- This Badass Boast by Drago's promoter:Kolov: Whatever he hits, he destroys.
- Apollo's entrance to his exhibition fight, complete with James Brown singing the theme song.
- As a villainous moment of awesome, our first introduction to Drago's strength comes from when he and Apollo meet with the referee. Apollo tells Drago to get his hands up, and promptly slams his own gloves down on Drago's, intent on knocking them out of the way. Drago doesn't even budge.Drago: You will lose.
- The film itself is full of montages, and probably the most hype-inducing training montage yet.
- And probably the best training montages in the series yet. Complimented by two new themes by Vince DiCola: One simply titled Training Montage, and another, also appropriately titled Hearts on Fire. If you need motivation to work out, this will do it!
- After all the hype that Drago is a super athlete, and after what he did to Apollo, seeing Rocky putting a cut on his face surprised the whole stadium, and by extension: the audience.
- "He's chopping the Russian down!"
- "You cut him! You hurt him! You see? You see? He's not a machine, he's a man!" This moment is made even better by Drago, who's currently having the exact opposite realization, referring to Rocky as "not human" and "like a piece of iron."
- Oh, and once this round ends, War began playing.
- And this exchange in the middle of it.
Duke and Rocky, respectively: No pain. No pain. No pain. No pain. NO PAIN. NO PAIN! - By Round 12, as Rocky took more abuse, he was able to stand up against the Siberian Express, earning the praise of the audience who were once hostile towards him.
- Ivan Drago respecting Rocky by Round 15, especially when he decided to turn against his Promoter.Promoter: (translated) You trained this fool. He's a disgrace! (pushes Drago's coach out of the way to get to Drago) Listen to them. Our people cheer for him! You idiot. (slaps him hard in the head) WIN!(the now-furious Drago rises up, grabs the Promoter by the neck and holds him up with one arm as he struggles, before hurling him some distance into the crowd)Drago: (translated) I fight to win. For me! FOR ME!
- For an extra bonus, all it takes is Drago to slowly turn and glower at the Promoter for the latter to realise he's made a big mistake even before he gets grabbed.
- By the end of the fight, Rocky is tanking or entirely no-selling Drago's shots, even goading him to try again - just like he did to Clubber Lang.
- Rocky learned from Creed, and decided not to do a 20 minute dance number...
- Balboa vs. Drago proves to be the second biggest TV event of the decade, second only to the M*A*S*H finale.
