Awesome: Robert McKimson

  • Animating and directing the 1955 cartoon The Hole Idea (about a scientist who comes up with a formula that creates portable holes until a thief uses the technology himself to commit crimes) all by himself. This was during the time he was re-assembling his unit after the brief 1953 shutdown of Warner Bros. Animation, which most likely put a strain on him in terms of workload (the only other people credited in the cartoon are Richard H. Thomas for layouts and backgrounds, Mel Blanc for voice actingnote , and Sid Marcus for story), but that still doesn't detract from the fact that McKimson put the animation skills that he learned before his time as director to good use.
