  • Animating and directing the 1955 cartoon The Hole Idea all by himself. This was during the time he was re-assembling his unit after the brief 1953 shutdown of Warner Bros. Animation, which most likely put a strain on him in terms of workload (the only other people credited in the cartoon are Richard H. Thomas for layouts and backgrounds, Mel Blanc for voice actingnote , and Sid Marcus for story), but that still doesn't detract from the fact that McKimson put the animation skills that he learned before his time as director to good use.
  • Allegedly, WB were quite protective of their star, Bugs Bunny, and only directors that proved their capabilities were allowed to make cartoons of him (hence Frank Tashlin and Art Davis only making Bugs shorts at the tail end of their directorial run). McKimson's first Bugs cartoon, Acrobatty Bunny was his third short as director, suggesting by this point, WB were quite confident in the abilities of the man who helped design the character.
