- When Dragonthing manages to knock out both of Khan's Nidoran females and his Squirtle with one Scratch each. That's right, DT takes out Khan's entire party with one hit kills. Leading to cheers by Atticus and celebration with DT.
- However this is subverted when Masked dude reveals that Atty won because Khan had his Pokémon on low health since he had yet to reach the Pokémon centre. Thus, Atty was merely Khan's Gary Oak and not the great trainer he thought he was several pages earlier.
- When the bug catcher is bragging about how strong his friendship bond is, Dragon Thing attacks and defeats his Caterpie, without needing a command from Atticus, unheard of for a Pokémon.
- Dragonthing using Ember for the first time.
