Simply put: Lauren Faust took the My Little Pony franchise, which was for years the stereotypically "girly, fru-fru" show, and turned it into My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Even better? The president of Cartoon Network refused to let her make any shows with female main characters because he thought no one would watch them. Her outstanding success may explain why CN is letting her make a cartoon with an all female cast.
Within hours of the developers of Fighting Is Magic getting hit with a C&D order from Hasbro, she offered to create a whole set of non MLP OC's based on something totally new for them to make the game with.
