WARNING: Spoilers are unmarked!

Season 1

  • Whenever John Williams' iconic score begins to play at a scene emphasizing the El name.
  • In "House of El," Lyta is rapidly on the receiving end of a brutal beatdown by Quex-Ul after provoking him into a Duel to the Death for the leadership of their Sagitari squad. Then, when all seems lost for her, she gets up, breaks his arm, and snaps his neck, living up to her mother's "no mercy" teachings.
Lyta: We never ask for mercy.
  • Seg fighting a Made of Iron Black Zero guard to escape captivity. She gets in some good blows while Seg makes progress and ultimately triumphs with Combat Pragmatist methods like using his foot to slide an electric prod into her.
  • The Reveal at the end of "House of Zod": The man who infiltrated Black Zero and tortured Seg to fight Brainiac is Lyta's future son... Dru-Zod (better known as "General Zod" in most Superman media).
  • In "Civil Wars," The Reveal of the weapon that the House of El and the House of Zod created: none other than Doomsday.
  • In "Transformation", Nyssa uses a hologram of herself that she normally uses for fashion modeling to fool her would-be executioner and get behind him to hold him at knifepoint.
  • Seg impressively forges a Teeth-Clenched Teamwork with Nyssa, Lyta, Jayna, Kem, and Dru-Zod to fight Brainiac. While he's not a superhero like his future grandson and he might not become a great scientist like his late grandfather or his future son, Seg shows the makings of a leader.
  • Jayna single-handedly killing Brainiac's personal guard, who are supposed to be superhuman, through an impressive combination of gun-play and martial arts.
  • In "Hope", Black Zero guard Mal refusing to take a bribe to let Daron go and reminding him how much the Rankless have suffered and died because of him can feel pretty satisfying.
  • Nyssa-Vex destroys the Voice of Rao!Sentry by jamming the sunstone (the key of House of El) in his neck. It apparently contains programs or substances that are lethal to Brainiac's circuits.
  • In the Season 1 finale "The Phantom Zone", Seg outmaneuvers Brainiac and sends him into the Phantom Zone. Although he ends up trapped there along with Brainiac.
    • From the same episode, The Reveal that Val-El survived his death sentence.
    • While Brainaic arriving at Kandor is mostly a cause for despair, the atmosphere of the Citywide Evacuation and the scenes showing how hard so many people are working to delay or get past Brainiac (often successfully) is pretty powerful. Seg and Zod do the most to help the people of Kandor, and there is a good reason that they are seen as heroes by season 2 (even if Zod later gets some Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist moments).
    • Zod's The Bad Guy Wins New Era Speech (and Kneel Before Zod order) may be terrifying and grim, but he is rarely more impressive than he is at that moment.

Season 2

"Will to Power"

  • How does Lobo get through a force field? He blasts his own head into meaty chunks so that he will regenerate a whole new body from his severed hand which was on the inside.

"Zods and Monsters"

  • Nyssa disgusted with her family name thanks to her father, tells Seg she wants their son to grow up as an El. In honour of House of El naming conventions for ancestors, they re-christen him Jor-El. Cue Superman theme.

"Blood Moon"

  • The Curb-Stomp Battle Doomsday inflicts on the Resistance is as awesome as it is horrifying.
  • Nyssa going One-Man Army on the Sagitari guarding the spaceship on Wegthor, switching between stabbing and shooting effortlessly and probably killing as many of them as the dozens of soldiers that accompanied her did collectively.
  • Kem's Heroic Sacrifice, blowing up Wegthor to stop Doomsday (and Flipping the Bird to Doomsday while he's at it). It's such an amazing moment that the next episode Val says Kem will be memorialized as an El, and as Seg's brother.

"The Alpha and the Omega"

  • Seg and Lyta beating Dru-Zod to a pulp and putting an end to his dictatorship.
