Awesome / Daphne in the Brilliant Blue

• In episode 2, Maia is kidnapped by two thieves, but the submersible they’re in hits a wave-breaking pillar. The men are knocked unconscious and the damaged submersible sinks too low for Rena and Shizuka to reach it, but Maia fixes the submersible and gets it up to the surface with her hands tied behind her back.
• In episode 8, Maia ends up racing a new submersible/hovercraft, and too late everyone finds out there’s a bomb on board. As Maia nears the finish line, Gloria shoots the bomb off. It explodes and Maia still manages to keep the craft (more or less) under control and wins the race.
• Maia, the show's Woobie, is on a plane whose pilot had a heart attack. She takes his place and successfully lands the plane (in a hydroponics garden that is barely big enough for it to be possible) while reciting her Survival Mantra like a Badass Creed. For someone that's only accomplished a handful of jobs and and gets handed a Distress Ball every other episode it's a high point for her. The icing on the cake: "The Ocean Agency will be waiting for you."
  • It's also an awesome moment for others who helped make it all possible, including Shizuka, who shut off the city's lights except for a strip leading Maia to the garden.
• Maia taking charge of the Wong-Lee siblings during a crisis. This is especially impressive as she was a prisoner and talked them into releasing her. It shows her development from Damsel in Distress to Action Girl.
