Awesome / Blade of the Immortal

  • Pretty much every recurring character's first introduction qualifies as this.
  • Magatsu killing two would-be assassins after tricking them into thinking he was dead.
  • Magatsu's first fight against Manji.
  • Araya's fight against Manji...in a room full of obstacles.
  • Shira absolutely butchering a group of assassins. Admittedly turns into Nightmare Fuel once he starts enjoying himself a little too much.
    • Manji interrupting his fun by cutting off his sword arm out of nowhere!
  • Shinriji's Dying Moment of Awesome. Especially amazing considering the fact that he was the Butt Monkey for a good portion of the series up to that point.
  • Shira ambushing Manji and Magatsu.
    • Magatsu VS Shira
  • The climax of the Last Blood arc, containing not one, nor two, but three Big Damn Heroes moments.
    • Makie killing several assailants without a single drop of blood landing on her.
  • Giichi VS Manji
    • Manji breaking Giichi's weapon using sheer brute strength!
  • Giichi VS Magatsu
  • Rin, Doa and eventually Isaku breaking Manji out of prison.
  • Four shogunate officers taking on Shira...Or, more accurately, the absolutely catastrophic result of four officers taking on Shira.
  • Anotsu, Magatsu, Sukezane and Ozuhan storming Edo Castle!
  • Sukezane's Dying Moment of Awesome, complete with a brutal Foe-Tossing Charge.
  • The penultimate battle between Shira and Manji. Magatsu and Tanpopo join in
    • Shira is a complete maniac, but give the bastard his due. In addition to totally outfoxing Manji at the beginning of the climax, he continues to show his dominance even as Magatsu (and eventually Meguro) join the fray. The very fact that he was able to hold his own against two of the series' recurring Badasses (and a passable Action Girl) at once merits him some serious cred.
  • It may be a bit cruel, but I guess in a series full of pretty graphic fighting scenes, Shira's demise definitely is worth mentioning. He is almost cut in half lengthways and then systematically dismembered by the heroes, until he can move hardly more than his mouth. Then he is devoured by wolves. And, thanks to the Kessen-chu, still alive to witness it. As if that wasn't enough, the bastard actually seems to kinda enjoy it. A fitting end for one of the most iconic monstrosities in the history of seinen manga.
  • Makie's second fight against Manji.
    • Makie's last fight in Volume 30.
