TOSC Chapter 10: In Which Numbers No Longer Matter

Written By: Thomas
POV: Jerry
Chapter Number: 20(!)

As Jesus sucks up to the author, BookObsesserNumberOne arrives as a somewhat self-deprecating Straw Critic, only to be banished by Jesus.

The chapter number is included, and yes, you read it correctly at the start. It's Chapter 20(Twenty). Previous chapters were at least somewhat in order; this is just ridiculous. Quite appropriately, this elicits a "WTF?" from IHeartThomasBrown.

Jerry, Annabeth and "Groper" arrive in Moscow, going "incognito" (an unusually advanced vocabulary term from someone who can't consistently spell simple words) with Clarisse staying guard at the gate. Apparently, Grover is not only Back from the Dead, but he also somehow met up with Jerry's group.

Jerry says that now that they're at the satanic scum's city, he plans on killing them all before they can kill the Christians. Annabeth is so moved that she repeats Rachel's speech almost verbatim. Grover also pledges his support so Jerry can teach the others about how to be good Christian men. Jerry, pleased, says that they must destroy the coliseum that John Lennon set up to force Christians to battle to the death.

Apparently, in spite of their best efforts, Jerry's group attracted the attention of the police. They deal with the police by cutting their throats, stabbing them and dismembering them, but in the melee, Annabeth is abducted and taken to the coliseum. Given the misogyny present in the rest of the work, it's somewhat amazing that the author hadn't used the Distressed Damsel trope until now.

Jerry's group goes to the church where Percy was, but he's out at the moment, and Michael (whose whereabouts have not been accounted for since two chapters ago) tells Jerry that Percy's on the south side of Moscow, they're currently on the west side (one would think they'd know about this by now), and the coliseum's on the north side; one has to wonder what, if anything is in the east side. After saying that JL and the communists have taken over business, he asks Jerry what he wants.

After it's claimed that Jerry and Michael fought against Hogwarts together (Jerry only briefly showed up, and it was Ebony who did most of the work), and tells him about Annabeth's kidnapping. Michael is worried, since Percy won't be back for a day or so, and Ebony will have to fight that night. Michael believes that Annabeth, as a woman, is so weak that she will not be able to win even with God's intervention; considering how thick the Prayer Warriors' Plot Armor is, this is quite a feat. Michael decides to go and rescue her, but not before finding the answer in the Bible. Michael and Jerry find the answer (it's never specified what, if anything, they learned) before heading to the coliseum.

The author says that next time, the story will shift to Percy and Ebony.

Next Installment: Percy and Ebony travel in southern Moscow.
