About This Page

THE REASON FOR THIS BEING HERE IS BECAUSE TVTROPES IS BEING A BITCH TO ME RIGHT NOW.

Yeah, even though my edits to the end of Part 2 show up just fine on the Preview button, they aren't appearing on the actual post, so I'm gonna make it a separate page.

Bear in mind that this was intended to go on the "Normal - Part 2" page, so if I reference "this page" or something, it refers to that page.

We now continue from where we left off on the previous page.

Normal - Part 2 (on the previous page)

Some time later...

Hey, guys. I'm back. Uh... something happened to me. I don't really want to go into any details, but now I'm really depressed and I'm hoping that playing more of Ruby will get my mind off of what happened.

So I apologize in advance if I don't seem as peppy as I usually am.

  • Zangoose (Hidden Power: Flying)
    • HP: 21-27
    • ATK: 17-23
    • DEF: 7-13
    • SPA: 14-18, and is even.
    • SPD: 8-12, and is even.
    • SPE: 0-6
  • Swablu (Hidden Power: Psychic)
    • HP: 0-3
    • ATK: 7-13
    • DEF: 14-19
    • SPA: 1-5, and is odd.
    • SPD: 5-9, and is odd.
    • SPE: 20-26, and is even.

Yeah, as expected, Swablu's IVs suck. I'm probably not gonna use it. Exp. Share revoked and given to Zangoose.

Continuing on with Route 114, the post-grass area.

Invisible Items found: Carbos.

Eh, fine, I'll use it.

  • Swellow: +10 SPE

And now for some battles:

  • Spinda: +2 ATK, +5 DEF, +1 SPE
  • Zangoose: +12 ATK, +5 DEF, +1 SPE
    • Note that 10 of its ATK EVs were from a found Protein.

Upon having all those battles, I have come to one conclusion:

I LOVE MY SPINDA!

Those IVs are to die for. And it has good moves too, covering Dark and Psychic attacks like a champ.

Remember my super cool Spinda? My Spinda is different from regular Spinda. It’s like my Spinda is in the top percentage of Spindas!

...

Did I really just do that?

Ah well. I'll be sure to limit my calls to you... maybe.

Meteor Falls

After Team Magma and Team Aqua make idiots out of themselves, I find a Moon Stone. This'll be great on that Skitty that I'll probably never get. :P

In all seriousness, though, I can get Jigglypuff on Route 115, so I may very well use the Moon Stone there.

Route 115

Unfortunately, the tall grass on this route is out of reach until I get Surf.

Still, there be trainers here.

  • Spinda: +1 HP, +2 ATK, +1 SPA, +1 SPE
  • Zangoose: +1 HP, +2 ATK, +1 SPA, +1 SPE

Invisible Items Found: Heart Scale... too bad. The Bag is full.

Pfft. Like that'd stop me. Swablu isn't holding anything, because it's a worthless Pokémon, so I'll turn it into something more useful. A bag. With it holding something, I can now pick up the Heart Scale.

Also, EVERY single trainer that has used Hidden Power against me has used the Fighting-type version. Ugh. I'm guessing the AI just doesn't have any IVs in any stat. But I will say that if they ever decide to make another Johto game, they need to give Youngster Joey's Rattata perfect IVs, so that his quote will ring true. No pun intended on "ring" btw.

Back to Rustboro City

Well, I switch out Swablu for Vigoroth once again. At least Vigoroth has HM Moves. Swablu is crap. I also sell all of my X Items, since I don't think I'll be needing them again, and gain inventory space.

My items, as they are right now, are:

  • Held by Pokémon:
    • Blackglasses (Spinda)
    • King's Rock (Swellow)
    • Quick Claw (Loudred)
    • Exp. Share (Zangoose)
  • In my Bag:
    • 18 Soda Pop
    • 16 Parlyz Heal
    • 4 Antidote
    • 7 Full Heal
    • 2 Full Restore
    • 3 Revive
    • 2 Ether
    • 2 Max Ether
    • Blue Flute
    • Yellow Flute
    • Red Flute
    • Silk Scarf (to be held by Zangoose when it is finished with the Exp. Share)
    • Soft Sand
  • In my PC:
    • 2 Everstone
    • Miracle Seed
    • Macho Brace
    • Soothe Bell
    • PP Up
    • 6 Heart Scale
    • Moon Stone

Anyways, I heal up, then head east to Route 116, then through the Rusturf Tunnel and into Verdanturf, then straight east through Route 117 and into Mauville.

Here, I switch to the Acro Bike. With the Jagged Pass coming up, I could use that.

Though I confess that I don't use my bike unless I have to. Running Shoes are easier since it's just hitting a button rather than having to go into my inventory. And I can't register the bike because then I lose the registration of the Itemfinder, since this game didn't allow for multiple-item registration. (HeartGold/SoulSilver allowed for registering two items, and Generation V allowed for an unlimited number. Other than that, you can only register one. Bummer.)

Mt. Chimney

More training with Spinda and Zangoose! This time against Magma people.

  • Spinda: +2 ATK, +2 DEF, +3 SPE
  • Zangoose: +2 ATK, +2 DEF, +1 SPE
  • Linoone: +2 ATK
  • Swellow: +1 ATK, +1 SPA

Yeah, my Zangoose fainted in the Maxie fight, so it didn't get all of the EVs, unfortunately.

I do get the Meteorite here. You know why? Cause that means I can get Return! The second-best Normal-type move in the game (best is Hyper Beam).

Jagged Pass

  • Spinda: +1 HP, +1 SPA, +3 SPD, +2 SPE
  • Zangoose: +1 HP, +1 SPA, +3 SPD, +2 SPE

Invisible Items found: Full Heal, Great Ball

Lavaridge Town

Invisible Items found: Ice Heal

Nothing here to do but fight the gym leader.

That said, I'm not sure whether to teach Dig to someone (Spinda, Linoone, or Zangoose) or Rock Tomb (Spinda only). Hmm...

Yeah, I'll give Dig to Linoone over Sand-Attack. (After all, they can only hit me one turn in every two when I use Dig (besides Magnitude/Earthquake/Fissure).)

I give Linoone the Soft Sand and give Zangoose the Silk Scarf over the Exp. Share.

GYM TIME!

  • Linoone: +8 DEF, +1 SPE
  • Spinda: +1 SPD
  • Swellow: +1 SPE
  • Loudred: +3 DEF

And yes, that was more intense than I imagined. And no, I didn't transcribe it.

Ugh. Is this gonna happen every time? I'm a bad boy for doing this.

Anyways, basically what happened was that a Sunny Day+Flamethrower combo killed Linoone, I was forced to use other things, where my entire team was killed by Torkoal, only to Revive Linoone, have it die in one hit to Overheat, Revive Loudred, and win from there. With barely any HP left.

Even with Double Team evasion hax, Hypnosis, Yawn, confusion caused by Supersonic, Dizzy Punch, AND Psybeam, nothing was working. Torkoal is such high level, has ridiculously high Defense and Special Defense. It was just a pain.

Loudred has earned a "Mark". I have earned a "Heat Badge" and TM 50, Overheat. May gives me the Go-Goggles.

I get the Nugget by leaping off the eastern ledges.

Now, if I go to Mt. Chimney, I can buy Lava Cookies for $200, which are the same thing as the $700 Full Heals. See the exploitation? I can do the same thing that I did with Soda Pop!

Not going to do that just yet, though, because I'm lazy and kinda tired of playing. Hell, I only got this far just because I promised that I would by the end of the day Monday. Technically speaking, Monday doesn't end for another 30 minutes where I am. :P

I also would like to do Pokémon Stat/Move Folders again, at the bottom of the page. But that would involve leveling up everyone, and I'm just not in the mood to do that right now. I'll probably edit it on tomorrow, just as one last update to this page.

Total Experience Needed to Level Up everyone: 6231. Yeah, maybe I just won't do it. I dunno. We'll see what kind of a mood I'm in.

WTF, TV Tropes!? For some reason, it's not showing my edit. Do you want me to miss my "End of the day Monday" deadline!?

The top speed for the bike track is 9.15 seconds which is done by taking the corners as sharp as possible and avoiding the trainers. Hope you feel better soon.
