Hey, maybe I can do a smart thing where I don't bother with all the HG to Pearl transferring, and just dump them all in this game when I'm done. I don't even remember what I countered that advice with last time I was given it, since I know I've been advised that before. Oh well~
During my training, Haggis fainted to a Marril. Oh well. I still have Pica.
Further on, I got offered a "special" Deerling. No idea what's so good about it, but I don't have room for it anyway (and also can't use it, thanks to Sauerkraut.) Also, I'm now avoiding random items in the area in case they're Foongus, which might only be available here. Hm. I should check the Pokedex.
...Ah, also available on the next route, but that's it. Before that though is another city, and before even that is Chargestone Cave, where I have just arrived. It is here that I find a... Bianca? For some reason she's here, and tells me about how the puzzles in this place work. Which is poor game design - I should be able to know how to do navigational puzzles without being told.
As for finding a Pokemon though, the first I see is Joltik
. Hm. It's not a bad Pokemon, and amuses me for actually being a realistic size for a large spider. (Or maybe that's just the Australian in me talking. Also, Joltik is a tick, and ticks have eight legs) After catching it, and
much deliberation, I name it Angkokear, the Khmer word for spider (as apparently tarantulas are a delicacy in Cambodia. *shudders*)
Hooboy. And now Ozzy faints thanks to a Ferroseed. Today is not looking good. Escape Rope time!
Back in town, I switch out Haggis & Ozzy for St Pedro & Angkokear. I also take a moment to check up on the evolution methods for each of my Pokemon I don't know.
Sauerkraut wants to be friends.
Zorua levels up.
Angkokear levels up.
Fun. Oh, and Pica, I remember from elsewhere, can evolve in Chargestone Cave after it becomes Magneton. That aside, I think I'm gonna do my training closer to this city than Chargestone. By a long margin. This may take some time.
