Sorry for the wait, everybody, but now it's time to get back in business!
When we left off, we had just dealt with both Eltshan's cross knights, and Trabant's wyvern riders. I have Fin pawn off the restore staff he got from a village, and allow Lachesis to buy it, providing some protection against status ailments. I also notice that both Fury and Levin, and Lachesis and Dew, are lovers now, which means there are no pending couples left, since I can't think of someone I want to pair with Sylvia yet. Now, after everyone is healed and prepared for combat, I send them off to Silvail, ready to take the castle.
After the long trek to Silvail (see, this is why I like small parties. I don't need to move 20 units every turn.), the foot units lead the charge, ripping through the first line of guards, while the horsemen wait to assist with the main enemy group. Over the course of the invasion, Holyn finally reaches level 20, allowing him to class change in the main base. Also, I notice that Shagaal drops his Silver Blade, and I now can't think of who to give it to. I could always pawn it around later on, but I think I'll have Sigurd destroy him, since he apparently killed Eltshan, and I'm not at all okay with that. Before all that happens though, I have Aideen heal Holyn, and Ethlin send him to the base, so he can promote, which turns him into a Hero (holy shit that animation and those promotion bonuses)! Sadly he can't wield axes now and his move didn't go up, but regardless, I have him begin the walk to Silvail, while the healers fix up everyone, and Sigurd attacks Shagaal.
Oops. I derped on a button press, and accidentally made Sigurd warp himself to Agusty. Ah well, he'll be joining Holyn on the walk I guess. As they travel, I have the healers finish their healing, and have Fury visit the village north of Silvail, netting her +1 defense, and 5000 gold.
Sigurd begins his fight with Shagaal, slicing him up with his silver sword and avoiding his counterattack. They continue to battle, Shagaal missing all but one hit, which is soon healed by Aideen, while Sigurd slowly takes him down. Soon, Sigurd finishes him off, receiving his silver blade, and seizing Silvail.
Sigurd is saddened by Eltshan's passing, and Oifaye tries to console him, while also noting that Shanan is here, saying that he needs to speak with him (this isn't going to help Sigurd's mood any...). Shanan comes in, crying and apologizing, while Sigurd asks whats wrong. Shanan explains that Dierdre left to go see him, and hasn't returned. Sigurd is thoroughly surprised, and asks where Serlis is. Shanan assures Sigurd that he's safe with him, and Sigurd is relieved. He then says that he will go find her, and that he doesn't blame Shanan, although the boy is still apologetic.
Sigurd gets healed by Aideen once more from his final wound from Shagaal, and then I end the turn, seeing what will happen next. The focus shifts to Orgahil, and a pirate informs the captain that Agustria lost the war. The pirate notes that the Grandbellian troops will soon be upon them as well, and the captain reprimands him, noting that Grandbell would have left them alone if not for the raids on the villages. After the captain's lecture, Dobarl turns the tables, saying that they no longer will let her lead them, and revealing that she isn't the late captains daughter. He explains she was just a little girl on a ship they attacked, and so the captain decided to raise her. Now that they've grown tired of her, he plans to kill her, but she escapes, and the pirates give chase. Dobarl then leaves Pizarl in charge of raiding Agustria, while he guards the castle. He then sets up a bridge between Agustria and Orgahil, and takes his enormous army of troops across to take Agustria.
The pirates begin to go after the girl, whose name is apparently Brigid, and she reveals she can hold her own pretty well with a bow, as she fights off the pirates who can reach her from the start. The main body of pirates then begins to cross, while the rear group goes after Brigid, and even more head for Blagi tower. Tiltyu and Claude run out, Tiltyu urging Claude to get moving. Claude has finished his prayer, and allegedly learned the truth of what is happening, which is just as he had previously surmised. He also found the sacred relic of Blagi, the Valkyrie staff. Tiltyu is unimpressed, calling it a dirty old stick, and Claude reprimands her, stating that it is an ancient relic which can return life to the fallen (t-that's a pretty awesome power you got there Claude). He then notes that it has certain limitations, so he won't be able to bring back Tiltyu's grandmother.
Okay then. I must now send an entire army across a continent to save three people from an army of pirates that plan to both ravage the land of Agustria and slaughter the people.
Well damn, these guys mean business.
Anyways, I take a look at the new units. Claude is a level 20 High Priest (I'm guessing that's basically a Bishop), with 10000 gold, a fortify and Valkyrie staff, major Blagi blood, no skills, and some damn good offensive stats, if I could just get him a tome. Tiltyu is a level 3 thunder mage with pretty decent stats, a thoron and thunder tome, 5000 gold, the wrath skill (makes all attacks criticals once hp gets low), minor Tordo blood, and an A rank in thunder spells to match. Brigid is a level 12 sniper (so she's a pre-promote), with some fierce bases, a steel bow, 10000 gold, the pursuit skill, and major Ulir blood (ah, so she's Aideen's sister). She runs from the pirates who are pursuing her, heading towards Claude and Tiltyu, while also aiming to save a village.
I have Aideen use warp to send Aira to Madino to face down the pirates, and will soon send all the other foot units to hold the pirates at the bridge. The horsemen travel there on their own, and Aideen continues warping foot units, with Sylvia's help. Aira guards Madino to get that sweet evasion boost so she can take on the pirate boss without much issue, while Aideen continues warping people to the castle to help with the issue. Tiltyu protects Claude from the nearest pirate, blasting him with Thoron, and awaiting his attack, while Brigid feathers a pirate who's ransacking a village, preparing to visit the place and use it for cover as she tries to fend off the pirate horde.
Pizarl attacks Aira, leading to her shredding him apart with Astra, and she claims his Leg Ring (gonna pass that to Levin later, so he can keep up with his winged girlfriend). With Pizarl down, I have Holyn, Jamka, Aira, and now Levin and Lachesis, begin their counterattack on the pirates. Brigid visits the town, receiving 4500 gold, and awaiting the pirates. Tiltyu and Claude stay where they are, awaiting their own foes.
Aira takes command of defending the bridge, as she and the others slowly carve their way through the pirates, while Aideen warps more help in the way of Ardan and Azel. Brigid begins her fight against the pirates in the town, shooting down the myrmidons mainly, due to them being the main threats.
Ah dammit, Brigid got surrounded. She's gonna need some help, and quick, or else she's gonna die. I have Fury and Aira (thanks to her new ring) head north to save Brigid, while everyone else takes out the remaining pirates. The horsemen continue towards Madino, aiming for Orgahil once they reach it, while all the other foot units will be striking out for the pirates attacking Tiltyu Claude, and Brigid.
Gah, this is bad. Tiltyu and Brigid are both brushing with death, and there isn't anyone close enough to save them reliably, though Claude can at least heal Tiltyu. Aideen is hopelessly far back, but she begins walking to Orgahil, aiming to speak with Brigid (assuming she somehow lives through this). Aira (as well as Fury) go to save Brigid, while the rest of the foot units turn to Orgahil proper, aiming to take down the leader and allow Sigurd to seize (although there are a few conversations I'm seeing, so I think I'll need to fight off the enemies in full if I want to get them).
And there she goes... Brigid bit the dust, the pirates overwhelming her and striking her down...
Normally I'd reset, but I think the Genealogy developers were wise enough to see the situation they'd just put you in, and gave you the fun little backup in Claudes Valkyrie staff! I'll be reviving her as soon as I can, but for now, she's gonna have to enjoy the afterlife for a little while.
Aira, Fury, and Azel (mostly so he can build up some love points with Tiltyu, since they seem like they complement each other, weapon wise) continue their charge to save Tiltyu and Claude, while the horsemen and the remaining foot units head for Orgahil. Noticing that the entirety of the horde is now returning to the castle after completing their mission, I have Aira and Fury hold back a bit, and allow Azel and Holyn to reach them, so that they all can bring them down.
Oh thank... er... Blagi, I guess. Tiltyu lived through the bandit attack and finished off the last of them. She and Claude begin heading to where Brigid died, and will now bring her back with the Valkyrie staff.
Noting the small force at Orgahil proper, I decide that Jamka, Fury (who will be claiming Dobarl's power ring), Levin, Lachesis, Dew, and Sigurd will be more than enough to take on the few pirates there.. I also begin doing some talking among the units, having Cuan and Ethlin speak with each other. Cuan mentions the legend of the Gae Bolg, a sad tale which he writes off as purely legend. After Ethlin worries about his safety due to the weapons history, Cuan assures her the fight is nearly over, and they will soon return to their daughter Altenna. After Ethlin then mentions her worries for Dierdre, and they talk of the sad situation, Cuan receives the Gae Bolg (after glowing for a bit, to signify how awesome it is I guess). Noba's holy spear, the Gae Bolg adds 10 to the wielders strength, skill, and defense, turning them into a powerful juggernaut who can crush nearly any foe.
Sigurd's group soon smashes all of Orgahil's guards, and Fury begins to take on Dobarl, Levin at her side to help with the Power of Love
(which activated only once over the course of the battle). Tiltyu and Claude continue towards Brigid's body, while Azel moves towards them to build up some lover points with Tiltyu. I note that Claude is at the place Brigid died and can't use his Valkyrie staff... Perhaps he can only use it at the main castle? If so, I'm going to have Ethlin use return on him, as well as the incoming Aideen. Before I send her back though, I have her heal some people to get her all the way to level 20, allowing her to promote, and hopefully finally be able to defend herself. Claude is soon sent to Agusty as well, and Fury finishes off Dobarl, putting on his cool little ring afterwards.
Aideen promotes into a High Priest, giving her a frillier dress and some nice bonuses. She also has a C rank in all magic types, allowing her to finally fight to defend herself. Claude then revives Brigid within the castle (with one of the snazziest staff animations I've ever seen, by the way). Before claiming Orgahil and ending the chapter, I decide to have Brigid enter the arena to net her some free cash and allow her to vent her frustration at having died (she makes it to the sixth guy before I decide she likely can't beat him). I then have her and Aideen talk outside the castle, where Aideen tries to spark Brigid's memories. Brigid is a bit skeptical of Aideen's story, so to convince her, Aideen hands her a really nice bow, and tells her to draw it. The bows effects appear to remind her of her past, and she finally recognizes her sister. Aideen explains that the bow is the holy Ichival bow, handed down in their family through generations. Brigid goes through the same glowy routine that Cuan did, and receives the Ichival, which adds 10 to strength and speed, allowing the wielder to rain swift death upon their foes.
After all that, I have Sigurd seize Orgahil. Sigurd tells Oifaye to round up all of the troops to make sure everyone is okay, and then the camera pans to show an enormous
army, next to Agusty and approaching from the south. A man who appears to be Langbert, if I recall correctly, states that Sigurd and his "band of rebels" must be apprehended. He claims that we, along with Byron, killed prince Kurth in an attempt to take over Grandbell. He then says that the order to kill us comes directly from his majesty, and that us traitors shall be shown no mercy. Reptor then notes how clever Langbert is, to have planned this all, having himself killed the prince and nearly killing Byron as well, so that he could seize power. Alvis meanwhile apparently spearheaded the whole mission and placed all of the blame on us (was this caused by Manfloy's blackmail? I swear, that creepy bastard is going down
once I get the chance).
Sigurd receives the news from Oifaye, and is outraged at the tricks Reptor and his lot have played on his Majesty. Sigurd, completely bombarded by all of the trouble, is in a bad place, when suddenly some pegasus knights fly in. One named Mahnya says that she is here on orders of Queen Rahna, advising Sigurd to retreat to Silesia until his name is cleared of this nonsense. Sigurd is confused by the assistance, wondering why they would help an accused traitor, and she says that there isn't time to explain, because otherwise Grandbell will be on his trail before he can escape. She says her wing of knights will guide them across the ocean, to Silesia...
