Chapter 16: Marquess Hausen friggen OWES me (Noble Lady of Caelin)

Chapter 16:

It had been a few days after the last battle, and we still had yet to track down the rogue Marquess. Apparently, Hector is too busy worrying about keeping a good face to the Kingdom of Bern to the east to help figure out what the Marquess is up to. The only reason no one seems to care that Hector is traveling around with Eliwood is because everyone things that he's a loud, stupid, oaf. We finally got word on Darin's whereabouts when we found out that he was trying to take over Castle Caelin, where Marquess Hausen and my old friend Lyn live. We all quickly decided to go try to provide support. Along the way, Florina, a Pegasus Knight that I traveled alongside on my last adventure, flew to let us know that Lyn needed help. In the process, she managed to get shot down by an arrow, and fell on top of Hector. She was unhurt, but her Pegasus seemed to have been injured, so she won't be able to help out too much either.

With so man people forced to stay behind, Eliwood and Marcus came to the decision that Marcus should no longer fight alongside us, needing to protect the noncombatants instead. I personally thought that this decision wasn't wise, but there was little more I could do but thank Marcus for the services he provided us with so far.

I apparently have psychic powers, because I'm able to issue commands to Lyn and her men, despite them being on the other side of the forest. Guess this is what happens when you become a tactitician.

Anyhow, to the tactics. Kent and his group shuffled items around and prepared to get ready. Meanwhile, Hector's team split into 2. Oswin and Marcus would be baits going through the forest, while Hector led the others through the mountains.

The plan was working, but it was slow progress. The lone mage in the woods was proving to be a MAJOR pest to Oswin, and it just got worse when a thief thought it'd be a good idea to steal his vulnerary.

A very scary moment happened then. In order to protect Oswin, Florina right into the middle of the action and gave her vulnerary to him to use. Unfortunately, there were many units within attack distance there, including an archer. Some of then went for Oswin, but the archer and a couple others went for Florina. A mercenary went first, getting a hit. If the archer's arrow struck home, Florina would have been killed, but fortunately, she beat the 61% odds and managed to dodge it, along with the mages spell. After everyone finished changing their pants, Florina was able to fly back to the mountain team where Serra was able to heal her. Hector was able to cross the mountains and defeat the mage, and things got a little bit better, even if he did get a couple shitty levelups.

Meanwhile, on Lyn's side, Kent was able to visit the eastern village and get a Heavy Spear, but soon, all the units near the village converged on their position. Kent tried his best to protect everyone, but he's no Marcus, and doesn't yet have the strength (and especially the speed) to take them all on at once. Fortunately, Marcus was able to reach their location, and helped Sain with the meatshielding process.

Hector made his way to the castle alone, while the mountain and forest groups turtled and seiged their way through. Kent was able to get a few kills in, so that helped him get stronger. Near the end, Serra managed to get attacked. Fortunately, Hector was able to reach the leader of their troops and, thanks to his Wolf Beil, he defeated Bauker quite easily.

It was nice to see Lyn and the other's in person, but it's hard for me to look in her eyes, knowing that I sent Florina in to almost die. I'm just glad that everything worked out ok. Lyn really needs to start being nicer to Hector. Anyways, we'll soon be heading into the castle itself, to save Lyn's grandfather. Lyn, Sain, and Wil were hurt when they tried to escape, but at least Kent is well enough to help us out. I have little more to say...except that I'll be praying for the Random Number Goddess to stay merciful.
