Hello all! Our destination for today is an island in the middle of all this lava west of the castle; the Passage of the Eidolons. More damage tiles, but slightly less murder awaits.

Rydia: I passed here when I left the Feymarch.

What? How? Can Ifrit fly of something?

Rydia: Perhaps we should ask Leviathan for help.

Eh, worth a shot. Oh. and today I learnt that Cecil and Rosa can use Teleport when Confused which is an automatic escape from battle spell. Bloody hell, I had nearly finished that battle, too.

This place is straightforward and not very interesting until B3, where a secret passage leads us to a Poison Axe and a Kiku-ichimonji. There's also a particularly brutal battle for the Defender, which is a very good weapon for Cecil.

We wind up in the Feymarch, the land of the Eidolons, which sells great equipment for those who can't equip Diamond Equipment, as well as Aegis Shields. We can also find the Yoichi Bow and some Yoichi Arrows, which is pretty strong equipment for Rosa. We also find a Rat Tail, which will be useful later.

We head for the basement of the Feymararch's library, where we find the Chamber of the Eidolon King. We've got two boss fights ahead of us. First, we talk to the Queen.

Rydia: Queen Asura!

Queen: Rydia, dear, what brings you back?

We ask for her help.

Queen: Very well, but first you must prove your worth. That is how it is done here. Do you possess the strength and courage to challenge me?

Yep.

Queen: Let us begin the test!

And she attacks us. Asura casts Protect and Curaga a lot. We can bounce that all back to us with Reflect. She also has has a strong physical which is used to counter everything, so Rosa has to keep casting Curaga on everyone, while Rydia summons everything and the other three go all out. Rosa learns Curaja after the battle, WHICH WOULD HAVE HELPED A LITTLE EARLIER.

Queen: You have proven your worth. Rydia, summon me at will.

Rydia learns Asura, which will randomly Curaga, Protect or Raise the entire party.

Now, Rosa just learnt Curaja, which is one of the best spells in the game. Over 1000 HP recovery to everyone in the party, and its cast time, at least in this version, is zero. It goes off ASAP. It costs a lot, 40 MP, but it's well worth it.

Onto the King then.

Eidolon King: You may have defeated Asura. But you cannot overcome evil with strength alone. A strong spirit is required to steer one's power toward righteousness. Will you test your spirit against my powers?

Yup again. And Leviathan attacks us. He's weak to lightning elemental damage, and can hit pretty hard, especially with Deluge, but he's less of a problem than Asura. He falls without any problems.

Eidolon King: Indeed, your spirit is righteous. I, Leviathan, Eidolon King, shall serve you.

And so Rydia learns Leviathan. We're done here.

That's all for now. Next time, killer doors.

This point of the game is the last time we can enter Babil, BTW, so if you need some more Sirens, do it now. I'm going to grab some more today, actually.

UPDATE: Got another 1015 Sirens.

Wow, that's a lot of Sirens. I take it you plan on getting the adamant armor?

Yep. There's no other rare encounters that you really need Sirens for outside of the DS version.
