Chapter 23: Southward

  • Battle Party:
    • Jolt the Jolteon, Lv 25
    • Flarer the Charmeleon, Lv 28
    • Torte the Wartortle, Lv 28

    • Lumina the Pikachu, Lv 34

Yellow: Well, according to the map, there are two more towns to go to: Fuschia and Cinnabar. To get to Fuschia, we can go west from Celadon, or southeast from Vermillion or Lavender... let's try Celadon first.

{West of Celadon, Yellow sees a thin row of Trees blocking off a clearing, and has Saurio cut an entrance. Both this path and the normal one pass through a guard house, but the lower path is blocked by a Snorlax.}

"How'd you get in? Good effort!"

{Through the guard house is a house on the north end, and a route south patrolled by Biker Goons on the bottom end, with a fence dividing them. Inside the house...}

"Oh, you found my secret retreat! Please don't tell anyone I'm here. I'll make it up to you with this! The Fly Hm. It will help your flying Pokemon take you back to any town. Put it to good use!"

Yellow: Uh, thanks a lot. (But, who is this?)

{Yellow goes back to the regular path and checks the Snorlax.}

Yellow: Hmm... I have to get it out of the way somehow.

Lumina: We could simply defeat it in battle, but it would be dishonorable to attack while it sleeps.

Yellow: Maybe we should try waking it up with the Pokeflute.

{Yellow plays a tune on the flute.}

Snorlax: Mmm, what's that sound... Hey! You never wake up a sleeping Snorlax! I'll teach you a lesson!

===Battle Start! Versus the Grumpy Snorlax! Lv 30===

Yellow: Jolt, I've got an idea! Use sand attack!

{Round 1: Jolt's Sand attack works. Snorlax tries to get back to sleep, but can't.}

{Round 12: see above.}

Yellow: Now, Bite attack!

{Round 14: Torte hits with Bite. Snorlak increases it's Special to maximum. Hp 76/76 vs 55%}

{Round 15: Torte lands an ineffective critical hit. Snorlax flinches. Hp 76/76 vs 35%}

{Round 16: Torte defeats Snorlax.}

===End Battle===

Snorlax: Yawn... that's enough. I'm heading home.

{With a big yawn, Snorlax returned to the mountains.}

Lumina: Quite the anticlimax.

{Yellow goes back to the Pokemon Center, and switches Saurio and Urbeth. Then he goes into the main guardhouse.}

Guard: Cycling Road is a downhill course by the sea. It's a great ride.

  • Cycling Road:

Biker: What do you want?

{This biker attacks with a Lv 29 Grimer and Koffing. Jolt and Flarer take them on.}

Biker: Don't you dare laugh! We like just hanging here, what's it to you?

Cue Ball: Nice Bike! Hand it over!

{Jolt and Flarer again take on the Cue Ball's Lv 28 Machop, Mankey, and Machop. Jolt grows to level 26}

Cue Ball: Knock-out! Forget it, who needs your Bike!

Cue Ball: Come out and play, little mouse!

{He attacks with Mankey and Machop at Lv 29. Flarer grows to level 29}

Cue Ball: You little rat! I hate losing! Get away from me!

Cue Ball: I'm feeling hungry and mean!

{This one uses a single Lv 33 Machop.}

Cue Ball: Bad, bad, bad! I like my Pokemon ferocious! They tear up enemies!

Jolt: No wonder Fighting types get no respect. Aside from crippling weaknesses, they're also associated with these bullies!

Biker: Hey, you just bumped me!

{He uses a single Lv 33 Weezing.}

Biker: Kaboom! You can also get to Fuchsia from Vermillion using a coastal road.

Biker: Sure, I'll go!

{He uses Lv 26 Grimer, Grimer, Grimer, and Grimer. Jolt grows to level 27.}

Biker: Don't make me mad! I like harassing people with my vicious Pokemon!

{Past this point a steep slope starts that is difficult but not impossible to fight.}

Cue Ball: What do you want, kiddo?

{He uses Lv 29 Machop and Machoke. Flarer grows to level 30}

Cue Ball: Whoo! I could belly-bump you outta here!

Cue Ball: Burned out! Good stuff is lying around on Cycling road!

Biker: Let Voltorb electrify you!

{This one uses two Lv 29 Voltorb.}

Biker: Grounded out! I got my Voltorb at the abandoned Power Plant.

Cue Ball: My Pokemon won't evolve! Why?

{He has a Lv 33 Machoke.}

Cue Ball: Why, you! Maybe some Pokemon need element Stones to evolve.

Cue Ball: Be a rebel!

{He uses Lv 29 Primeape and Machoke. Jolt grows to level 29}

Cue Ball: Aaaargh! Be ready to fight for your beliefs!

Biker: Get lost, kid! I'm bushed!

{He uses Lv 25 Koffing, Weezing, Koffing, Koffing, and Weezing.}

Biker: Are you satisfied? I need to catch a few Zs!

Biker: You heading to Fuchsia?

{He uses Lv 28 Weezing, Koffing, and Weezing.}

Jolt: Ooh, I'm finally getting a new move! Double Kick... It'll help against Rock Types, and it's a bit stronger than Quick Attack. But how long until I learn an Electric move again?

{Jolt reaches level 30 and learns Double Kick over Growl. Flarer also grows to level 31 and Torte grows to level 29}

Biker: Crash and burn! I love racing downhill!

Biker: We're Bikers! Highway stars!

{This one uses a Lv 33 Muk.}

Biker: Smoked! Are you looking for adventure?

Cue Ball: I need a little exercise!

{He uses Lv 26 Mankey, Mankey, Machoke, and Machop. Jolt grows to level 31}

Bird Keeper: This is my turf! Get out of here!

{This one uses Lv 26 Spearow, Spearow, Fearow, and Spearow}

Flarer: About time! These starter moves of mine have been pretty weak recently, but this tech is just lethal!

{Flarer grew to level 33 and learned Slash over Scratch.}

Bird Keeper: Darn! This is my fave Pokemon hunting area!

Bird Keeper: Kurukkoo! How do you like my bird call?

{He uses Lv 34 Dodrio. Jolt grows to level 32}

Bird Keeper: I had to bug you! I also collect sea Pokemon on weekends!

{Yellow finally makes it to Fuschia City}
