episode 18: the other side, without the lens

The episode image has the main four. In the upper right is Kagami with stone-roasted sweet potatoes in a bag. She's about to eat one, it seems. In the upper left of the allocated space, Tsukasa has an artist's beret on, and is holding up a paintbrush as she closes one eye. In the lower right is Konata, at a larger scale than the others. She's wearing a P.E. uniform and popping her fingers with her palms outward. In the lower left, Miyuki sits clutching a book.

lonely one

Kuroi-sensei says vacation's just over, but it's about time they start thinking about their futures. During a break, or possibly on the way home, Kagami points out that they're passing the halfway point for their high school careers. Konata doesn't think Kagami is actually thinking about her future, and when Kagami asks why, Konata points out that she chose the literature-intense route so as to be in the same class as her sister and closer friends. Kagami yells at Tsukasa for telling her.

just the sentiments

Tsukasa asks Miyuki where her glasses are. They apparently broke, so Miyuki needs today's class notes lent to her.

Later, Miyuki is looking at them... but Konata's are illegible, and Tsukasa trades completeness for tidiness.

Konata calls them useless, wonders if they have the will to study, and lends Miyuki her notes, pointing out that it's a good thing they have the same teacher. Miyuki thanks her, but wants it to be a secret so she doesn't "pour cold water on" their generosity.

reality

During recess, Miyuki is apparently about to go to the boys' room because she can't the the pictograms well enough, but Konata points the way.

At lunch, Miyuki thanks them for their notes. After a bit of staring, Konata brings up that when game characters who wear glasses come to school without them, they get popular with the opposite gender, but that doesn't seem to happen in reality.

The perfect character

Miyuki is staring to see the board.

Afterward, Konata brings up that she heard that people with bad eyesight have very mean glares people are scared of them (Well yeah! It paralyzes the target and prevents it from switching out! Sounds like a scary situation to me!), but decides that it depends on the person.

snatch

Kagami remarks that Konata is late. Konata apologizes for it when she arrives. Kagami points out that she complains when baseball goes into overtime and pushes back what follows; she doesn't think Konata has the right to do so if she's loose about time, as well. Konata theorizes that with all the extensions, maybe she caught the bug.

as a person

Kagami asks why she was late, and if she overslept. Konata says she's not a child. She had plenty of time to spare, but played a game in the meantime, and couldn't find a good place to leave off. Kagami says she's below even children.

The three are eating at some sort of totally-not-McDonald's restaurant. Tsukasa mentions the culture and athletic festival during the second trimester, and the exams afterwards. She says Konata is lucky to be good at the athletic festival, and says that she herself doesn't have good traits. Konata hates the athletic festival, as it makes her tired, and prefers the culture festival because it feels more like a festival. Kagami remarks that you don't see a physically active indoors-lover like her often.
