By now, you folks have probably noticed that I haven't updated this liveblog in a while. Well, I figured that I'd better tell you why, since I finally have some breathing room and I finally have my thoughts in order.
The first reason why I haven't been updating is life. Things have just been too damn hectic for me to play the game, let alone screenshot it and write up action reports while doing so.
Second, Steam. One of the more recent updates broke something somewhere, with the result that I had to uninstall Steam and reinstall it. This, naturally, also involved the uninstallation of all of my Steam games, including Terror From The Deep - and, being as I wasn't thinking straight when I went through the uninstall/reinstall process, I forgot to back up my savegames before doing so.
That being said, it's highly unlikely that I'll be restarting the TFTD campaign any time soon - and as with why I haven't been updating, the reason is twofold.
The first reason is that I simply don't have the time.
The second is a bit more of an emotional problem, and it's due to the controversy surrounding 2K's planned contribution to the series.
You see, I came out in support of XCOM, because I honestly believed it had a shot at not only being a decent game, but being worthy of the name.
And - to cut a long story very short - I was subjected to the kind of vitriolic hatred usually reserved for mentions of that OTHER X-Com FPS.
Needless to say, it was not a very pleasant experience, and it's a contributing factor in my current decision not to restart the liveblog at this time.
Maybe once things have calmed down - both in my personal life and the X-Com fandom - I'll give the liveblog another shot. But for now, I'm going to shelve it.
