Raguna puts on the pumpkin mask that he made and goes outside. It's the end of summer, so he has to cut down all of his tomato and corn crops after harvesting them.
Another letter from Tori arrives. Now, she wants to know what Raguna does for fun at night. His choices are "sleep", "read books", or "frequent the tavern". Since he doesn't know how late Selphy's library is open, and he only goes to the tavern to buy ingredients from Rita when he needs them, he says he just "sleeps".
Wearing his pumpkin mask, he heads into town where everyone, even grumpy doods Danny and Kross, is enjoying the moment. No competitions, prizes or anything, just general silliness. The business district is lined with carved pumpkins. Even Tsubute was talked into wearing one by Uzuki. Mist, bucking tradition, is wearing a turnip head instead.
When Raguna leaves Kross' house, he asks him to pick up a nail, but it turns out that he had it in his pocket all along. For a moment, it almost looked like he was going to commit suicide by jumping off the rooftop if he didn't find the nail. It doesn't help much that his melancholy Leitmotif was playing during this instance.
The only person not wearing a pumpkin mask is Nolan, being from out of town. (Iris isn't wearing one either, mainly because she lives on Whale Island, and thus doesn't get to partake in festivals.)
