I guess, but Mario did leave behind the Super and Ultra Hammers he got in Paper Mario and just took along the regular one for Thousand-Year Door. I'm not sure why; seems like taking along the most powerful Hammer you can would be a good idea especially if you're going on what's explicitly an adventure.
Yeah, toon and video game physiology is strange.
