* BaseBreaker: Both Kyouko and Sakurako due to being very obnoxious and selfish, acting stupid and stealing the spotlights of seasons one and two respectively. Chinatsu is also this for her BitchInSheepsClothing-ness.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: From the very first episode. Up until now, there is no mention of Kyouko [[spoiler:visiting Akane's room.]]
* BrokenBase: Fandom opinion is split over which season of the anime is superior. Fans of the first particularly dislike the decreased focus Kyouko has in the second, as well as the increased focus on the first year students. Fans of the second season find this refreshing and find the humor to be higher quality.
* ClicheStorm: This show is an example of one, as well as consciously [[{{Discussed}} discussing]] it. ''Secrets of the Super Prominent Protagonist'' gag ShowWithinTheShow looks similar to ''TheGrandListOfConsoleRolePlayingGameCliches''. Good thing we have TVTropes to list them easily.
** [[HeavySleeper "Oversleeps]] [[GoodMorningCrono often"]]
** [[MagicalGirlfriend "A girl fell from the sky"]]
** [[WeirdnessMagnet "Extremely adaptable"]]
** [[SwordOfPlotAdvancement "Found a Legendary Sword"]]
** [[StrongAsTheyNeedToBe "Powers awaken at a crucial moment"]]
** Also, the show starts with Akari being LateForSchool, [[DiscreditedTrope with a slice of toast hanging out of her mouth]]. Very few anime can get more cliched than that.
* DudeNotFunny: How ''some'' audience reacts to a certain scene at the end of episode 5. [[BlackComedyRape For others, however]]...
** And some of the crap that Akari encounters throughout the series could also be this to some fans. Especially in Episode 12.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: [[spoiler:Akane Akaza, Akari's siscon sister.]] She didn't appear in the first season, but she is already popular for the fans and got some fanarts. They even wanted to see her in the anime.
** She finally appears properly in season 2.
* FamilyUnfriendlyAesop: Anime episode 11: If your friends start acting [[NotHimself weird]], [[spoiler: hit them in the head with [[CallBack wooden swords]]!]]
* FanPreferredCouple: Sakurako and Himawari, probably due to an amazing amount of {{UST}}.
* FoeYay: Between Kyouko and Ayano. Also, Himawari and Sakurako.
* FridgeLogic: So, why did Kyouko smell Ayano's shoes, again?
** She smelled them because they smelled like mint, and she knew that because she smelled them!
* InternetBackdraft - Among {{Yuri Fan}}s there have arguments/concerns/disapproval over the fact the Yuri is subtextual instead of being open. Normally a Moe SliceOfLife with LesYay overtones such as this wouldn't get such scorn. The problem/concern stems from the fact it's serialized in a YuriHimeS, has yuri in its title and is the series with the least amount of Yuri in the magazine, is supposedly the best seller in the magazine - prompting discussions about exactly what Otaku want in their Yuri - and it's the one out of the magazine to get a anime. Considering the fact it's serialized in a Yuri magazine some people would expect characters who are openly lesbian or at least start falling in love with each other, and more actual Yuri but no...
** Ultimately the one thing that this show differs from all other SchoolgirlSeries is that all the girls are actually stated to be lesbians instead of heavily, heavily implied.
** The ''Yuri Yuri'' spin-off actually ''does'' depict girls falling in love with girls, but it's basically an extra to the main series with different characters, and consequently hasn't been covered by the anime.
* LesYay: What did you expect from a show named ''Yuru-Yuri''?
* MemeticMutation: "Waaai, ! Akari daisuki!"[[note]]translation:"Akari loves !"[[/note]] As demonstrated by the [[https://twitter.com/akari_daisuki/ Akari Daisuki]] {{Twitter}} bot.
* MemeticMolester: [[spoiler:Chinatsu and Akane.]]
* {{Moe}}
* NauseaFuel: Chitose's '''frequent''' nosebleeds actually come with a sickening "squishing" noise that sounds remarkably like "{{Squick}}".
** Nosebleeds?! How about Chizuru's drooling?!
* NightmareFuel:
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ake5AZhtxdU This MAD]] of Akarin. Warning: not for the faint of heart.
** Episode 10: Chitose trying to stop a nosebleed. [[spoiler: It pours out of her [[NightmareFace huge, bloodshot eyes]].]]
** The first episode has an in-universe example for Kyouko when she goes into [[spoiler:Akane]]'s room. The music sounds like something out of a horror movie and she is noticeably shaken by the things she sees inside.
** The ending animation of S208, drawn [[NightmareFuelColoringBook Chinatsu-style]].
* ShipToShipCombat: ''Any pairing vs. any pairing.'' With so many overtones and so many pairings, this is expected, even in the yuri community.
** ShipMates: That's not to say there aren't any pairings that get along. Almost everyone ships [[FanPreferredCouple Sakurako and Himawari]], so to go with this pairing you can have the "[[RomanticTwoGirlFriendship Friendship Pairings]]" where everyone ends up with the person they are closest to, this one ends in the most pairings. Then there is the "[[UnresolvedSexualTension Sexual Tension Pairings]] where those that have expressed interest for another character, end up with said object of affection. Sakurako and Himawari, of course, manages to be in both pairing types.
* TearJerker: Episode 3 of the second season while Sakurako watches Himawari helps Chinatsu make a scarf for Yui. The music doesn't help.
** The eleventh episode of the second season in which Akari is deciding on whether or not to change the past and face the consequences of losing her old memories in the place of new ones.
** Mirakurun's HeroicSacrifice in the season one finale. Though she is back again in season two.
* UnpopularPopularCharacter: There are Akari fans who hate seeing her as the show's OutOfFocus ButtMonkey, and there are fans who think that this makes her more interesting. WordOfGod has even latched onto [[http://dynasty-scans.com/reader/chapters/yuru_yuri_4koma_mode#4 the latter]]
* TheWoobie: Poor, poor Akari. She breaks down crying in the very first episode, after her friends' attempts to reinvent her image [[StopHelpingMe only end up making her feel worse.]] And from that point on, the show goes out of its way to make sure she's either [[TheChewToy neglected, miserable or both.]]
* {{Yandere}}: [[spoiler:Akane, only in the fandom. There are many Pixiv fanarts featuring her in this state over Chinatsu raping/making love with her sister Akari. Ironically, Chinatsu has some (canon) yandere tendencies as well.]]
